Tunic has more than fulfilled our expectations. We had placed high hopes on Andrew Shouldice's work for its proposal and artistic display; luckily, everything we had seen in the demo and trailers was actually the tip of the iceberg. Finji scores another unique title of the independent scene, an action adventure, puzzles and exploration with its own personality. It never ceases to surprise from start to finish and strings together secrets one after another. A worthy exercise of confidence and perseverance: the wait was worth it.

Gran Turismo 7 has recaptured the hallmarks of the series and immediately becomes the most comfortable piece of driving in living memory. Polyphony Digital has put all the pieces together, taking the best from the early episodes of the series and the advances of the HD era. The result is a polished, perfected control and feel at the wheel, matched by a dizzying array of technology. All in all, it demonstrates the three fundamental pillars of the series: racing, collecting and photography. Despite its mediocre collision engine, a far cry from the physics system, an AI that can be improved and some convoluted menus, Gran Turismo 7 is a declaration of love to the world of motorsport. Its didactic commitment and appreciation for every car makes all the difference. Gran Turismo is synonymous with racing, but not only that. Accessible and deep at the same time, this is a must-have for cars enthusiasts, a title with the potential to last an entire generation.

Expeditions: Rome is an ambitious turn-based strategy game that unites adventure, role-playing, strategy and tactical combat in a single title. It stands out for a pampered recreation of the culture of the time and despite its markedly strategic vocation, it has a consistent story that will hook the user and motivate him to progress in the game. The tactical combat, thanks to its movement system and the infinite possibilities of personalization of the units, are the best that has been seen. He just flounders on the strategic map where, waiting for the legion to have something to do, the protagonist wanders aimlessly looking for a random event to happen.

Pokémon Legends Arceus is a must for fans of the franchise, a success in its reinterpretation of the gameplay formula, which introduces action in the capture and mobility without giving up the turns in combat. The loop is addictive and fun: it works wonders. Game Freak has nailed in practically everything mechanically, with huge, well-designed, hostile, vertical, open environments full of secrets to be solved. We have a long journey ahead of us. Its technical section, however, subtracts in the result despite its artistic preciosity. Fortunately, the series has found the way, one that can coexist with the classic and that should be fed back from now on. This title is a celebration after an era of ups and downs. Pokémon is more alive than ever: this work marks a new and exciting beginning on which to build, polish and improve. We are to be congratulated. Turning point.

Shovel Knight: Pocket Dungeon is a good puzzle game, above all. With a simple gameplay based on chaining elements of the scenario, each movement makes the board react accordingly, balancing the action with the turns in a sublime way. It surprises for how easy it is to understand its mechanics, how accessible and how addictive its formula is; but it doesn't justify its roguelite elements because of the little importance of each run's findings. A very good gateway to the genre for those who enjoy this kind of proposals, with a moderate challenge that requires a few hours to get out of this pocket dungeon. Once again, Shovel Knight shows that it has potential in genres other than classic platforming. More than recommended.

Nintendo Switch welcomes Big Brain Academy: Brain Battle. The hybrid console adds to its catalogue what is, from now on, one of the most recommended logic and puzzle titles to play with the family or for the youngest audience. A proposal as simple as its predecessors in the saga (of which it reuses activities), but also one of those that have made the best use of the technological benefits of the moment. The title asks for just a few minutes a day to exercise your brain in key mathematical skills in the growth stages of any student, so it seems to us an ideal gift for this Christmas. Identity, visualize, memorize, compute, analyze... And have fun, which is the most important thing, both alone and in company. Its only problem is that it is verry short on content, although its low price compensates for that. For the rest, it is one of those titles that we celebrate for combining learning with perseverance and the importance of training our minds.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are a worthy return to Sinnoh, respectful remakes that seek to offer exactly the same experience as the original Nintendo DS works; albeit with new conveniences that help the pace of the adventure while borrowing quality-of-life details already established in the series. On the other hand, they are also much more permissive releases, with facilities during the adventure that cannot be turned off and that help too much in once-challenging situations. They are very conformist titles. The return of the random encounters did not convince us, especially after seeing how well the ability to see creatures in the environment worked. With plenty of content thanks to the Grand Underground and a generous endgame, it will provide plenty of hours of gameplay even though they are limited to the first four Pokémon generations. All of this, coupled with a beautiful art style despite being low-key on a graphical level, makes for an unmissable trip to Sinnoh for fans; especially those planning to play Pokémon Legends Arceus in a couple of months.

With a level structure that ends up being recursive, the game does not aim to surprise with its mechanics, but rather to serve as an open book adaptable to the tastes, preferences and even hobbies of each player. Nintendo teams up again with MercurySteam to bring us the first unreleased adventure of Samus Aran in side scrolling (remakes aside) since the premiere of Metroid Fusion in 2002. The pressure was not little, but Metroid Dread is up to the task. For the control, which lets us handle the bounty hunter in her most agile and precise version; by the design, which branches and extends to offer hours of exploration without taking us by the hand; and for the selection of bosses, who take advantage of the best combat of the saga in its 2D aspect. The robots E.M.M.I. They may test the patience of some players, but they create situations of genuine tension and development doses them enough. So fans of Metroidvania are in luck: Metroid Dread lives up to the saga that popularized this genre in the first place. Although the story is interesting, it fails because the missions are designed for infiltration, but the game lacks enough mechanics in that regard. Something similar happens with vehicle racing, that the controls are very simple and were not conceived for a modality of this ready. What is very good is the shooting range, an addition that allows you to test the weapons before using them with the enemy through small missions. In short, with its mistakes, this is the best way to enjoy the experience that Death Stranding proposes.

The Ramp is a pleasant surprise. As if it were a toy model, Hyperparadise seeks to transmit the pleasure of skateboarding in a simple video game with no achievements or objectives, just enjoy the ride, so that the flow of this sport runs through your veins. And it succeeds. First, because it feels like a videogame thanks to its polished mechanics. Secondly, because of the good taste in its art direction and the good design.
