Visions of Mana has a great gift: it's a game that understood perfectly what it was meant to be: an adventure faithful to the franchise. So the developers went to the roots of Seiken Densetsu to understand exactly what it was that made it such a beloved series in the Super Famicom years. In doing so, they created an adventure that expresses feelings of nostalgia, but at the same time reminds us that the medium has come on leaps and bounds in the last 30 years.

Outside of some camera issues, performance issues, and a progression that could be more satisfying, WILD HEARTS is an amazing experience. The most important thing to know about WILD HEARTS is that it doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it doesn't want to either. From the start, it's clear that, rather than being an heir to Toukiden, it seeks to be an answer to Monster Hunter. Here it is important to emphasize the word "answer" because Koei Tecmo does not try to hang onto the success of Capcom's series or copy it. What it did was to look it straight in the eye to tell it that they could do the same and that they would even try to surpass it.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is a free to play game designed for those who have been active in the card game for years and are looking for a space to measure themselves against other duelists from around the world. It's a deep game, with over 10,000 cards and updated rules. It's also addictive and a lot of fun, but less experienced players will struggle as they adjust to competitive play.

Madden NFL 25 is far from the feat, but there is finally an improvement in one important area: gameplay and physics. If this is the way, in the coming years we could see the best version of the franchise in the next years. Of course, the presence of more content is desired, especially in terms of game modes and notable changes in modes such as Franchise and Superstar, but that would be naive knowing the slump from which the IP is emerging. In the end, and just condemning the constant and annoying Ultimate Team ads, we have a good football game for this year's season and that, in this case, is very good news.

Returnal is a fairly forgiving roguelike that quickly shows its true size and scale. It offers an excellent atmosphere and combat systems, with an intelligently woven plot. A solid recommendation for PlayStation 5 owners.

A visually stunning game with clever and varied design, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is a very welcome addition to the Wii U library, even if its simplistic premise and mechanics eventually get tiresome.

While at first it seems like Guacamelee! mocks Mexican culture, the truth is that the game doesn't take itself seriously. With brilliant platforming sections and a cohesive and original art direction, the game presents an interesting and original world. The combat is not as deep as we would like it to be, but this frisky title has a hard to find feature: uniqueness.

Echoes of Wisdom is a solid game with fantastic ideas that will force you to reprogram that Legend of Zelda brain you've been shaping over years and years of practice. Grezzo has created an experience worth trying and a journey no fan of the franchise will regret starting. That being said, we can't ignore the fact that there are several elements in the game's design that fall short because they don't reach the level of maturity we see in era-defining games.

Microtransactions continue to devour uncontrollably online modes, however, traditional modes are still there with gameplay better than ever. In the end, this year's edition can satisfy all types of players and although controversial, NBA 2K23 is a positive experience.

With its successes and its failures, MotoGP 21 is a delivery enough for fans of sports motorcycling and has the necessary content to spend hours and hours enjoying it. The career mode shows that this type of simulator is on the right track and perhaps with the right support and investment, we will soon have a realistic experience that, until now, only exists in our imagination.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics is a beautiful and nostalgic tribute that revives 7 iconic fighting games. Although the lack of additional modes and cross-play limits its potential, it remains an excellent option for both veteran and new players. Still, we can’t help but feel that Capcom could have done more to make it the ultimate collection.

Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy look better than ever. Playing them at 60 frames per second is a treat and the basic implementation of the DualSense haptics On the other hand, these details are perhaps insufficient to justify another ride through the world of Uncharted. That's not to mention the fact that this is a paid product and not a free upgrade. That said, it is undeniable that this is the best version of 2 great jewels of the Naughty Dog catalog.

Ghost of Tsushima is a slight surprise. It is an all-around experience which delivers the fantasy of being a mythical samurai warrior. However, not everything shines, especially with the stealth systems, that do not square up, mechanically nor thematically. As the old saying goes, a samurai cannot obey 2 masters, because he dishonors himself. Thus, Ghost of Tsushima is a reminder of why Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 are generational gems and benchmarks in open world terms.

Every Naruto game is an interesting ride on the adventures of the animated series, but not every one of them turns out to be a great gaming experience and Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 is the perfect example. If you're an anime fanatic there is no doubt that you'll enjoy the combat style and the wide variety of combos, but if you want to live the emotion of the show, maybe you have to keep watching it since the story mode can get extremely tedious.

Its innovative dual-stick driving system and interconnected gameplay systems add strategic depth, but also come with a steep learning curve and occasional pacing issues. While not the most accessible racer, those willing to master its complexity will find a stylish and rewarding experience with a strong sense of identity.

EA Sports College Football 26 maintains the level of last year's game and adds specific improvements, reminding us that, after all, this is what sports games with annual releases are all about. Without a doubt, even with some glitches and bugs, this is one of the best sports games of the year, and the best part is that it has a unique essence. College football has more tradition and passion than the NFL, and all it takes is dedicating time and attention to your favorite team to make you feel part of it.

Tormented Souls 2 is a love letter to the survival horror genre that major companies abandoned years ago. Although many players won’t be able to stand its deliberately old-school approach due to the clunky combat and complex puzzles, those who dare to give it a shot will find a game with excellent atmosphere that dares to challenge the player and be truly terrifying.

In the end, Reus 2 comes out on top. Despite its shortcomings as a console port, particularly the lack of ideal adaptation for traditional controls, it's a solid strategy and management game. Given its difficulty level, learning curve, and audiovisual elements, I consider it a good entry point to the genre if you haven't tried it before or don't want to get bogged down in a sea of menus, options, and on-screen information. The simplistic yet effective style, combined with the hours of fun it provides and its creative possibilities, makes it an interesting option for passing the time, exercising your mind, and, why not, relaxing for a while.
