Concrete Genie may look arty but it’s a very classical game. It’s well-done but it never really gives to the player the feeling that he/she is the creator.

A very, very traditional musô ... but nevertheless successful. Admittedly, its cel-shadding remains an obvious make-up for a dated technique, but it also causes a reinforced Japanese atmosphere and some appreciable graphic effects; Likewise, the repetitiveness of its missions is an obvious black point but is compensated by a diversity of characters and interesting gameplay, and this despite the criticized reduction of its cast.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a unique experience in the modern video game landscape that deserves to be commended. GSC Game World's FPS offers total immersion in a fascinating post-apocalyptic universe, a survivalist vision that is (too) rare in video games and an unparalleled atmosphere. Unfortunately, it also suffers from several problems that prevent it from achieving excellence, starting with its technical delay, its improvable AI and its story that struggles to assert itself. Stalker 2 will appeal above all to fans of the genre who will be able to ignore all its mistakes.

Metal Slug Tactics is certainly a love letter, albeit clumsy, to fans of the license. Dotemu and Leikir Studio subtly adapt the concept of run'n'gun into a turn-based tactical video game but stumble several times. The variety of gameplay is not enough to motivate the player to restart the game again and again. The fault lies in a similar construction of each run, combined with a lack of challenge that does not force a possible adaptation and change of style. All of this is, on PlayStation 5, punctuated by multiple and significant loading times that are prohibitive for games of the genre. If the first veterans of the license can find it with a certain pleasure, Metal Slug Tactics should not seduce new recruits despite a brilliant idea.

Talpa Games delivers here a solid platformer all in lightness, with a simple and controlled gameplay, pleasant levels to go and a nice progression curve. We will do so with pleasure the five to six hours of the adventure. But we often regret a level design that is too wise, the iterations of which are not sufficiently daring to make this ride a memorable adventure. Still, a happy walk in the sun always feels good. And that's what the title offers us.

Visually successful and above all funny, Legend of Keepers manages to deliver a satisfying Roguelite experience without revolutionizing the genre. With its principle of inverted dungeon-crawler, we quickly get into the game looking for the best possible synergies to face the vile heroes. Unfortunately, despite these three characters and these different game modes, the title of Goblinz Studio does not manage to renew itself enough to offer varied game situations and make the player stay for several dozen hours of play. This does not prevent for all that the title of being effective, and above all, of making people laugh on many occasions.

The Bloober Team delivers a psychological and supernatural thriller with multiple controlled influences, and a story that is both dark and touching. The Medium is an artistic work in its own right, both visual and musical, whose universe deserves to be explored. The Polish studio also manage to take advantage of this playful duality between the physical and spiritual planes without necessarily innovating too much during a linear adventure. The threat weighing on Marianne, as intense as it may be at times, loses too often in intensity to permanently mark the players. The Medium is ultimately an “arty” horrific experience like the developers' previous productions.

If we regret a fairly limited amount of different environments, a confused combat part and an AI clearly not up to the task, this melancholy escapade in the heart of the exclusion zone is a good surprise, quite targeted concerning the public that it is aimed (FPS aficionados from the East, you are welcome), but oh so immersive and intriguing.

The gameplay sensations of the time are intact and both beginners and beginners can enjoy this modernized iteration thanks to its unique and energized parts. However, and quite logically, it will not replace an entire episode (remaster or new game) that many fans were waiting for. The fault is very little content at the moment and the absence of a multiplayer mode. With Soulstice, the developers at Reply Game Studios have probably created their most ambitious game. Nervous beat'em up set in a universe reminiscent of the Claymore manga, it plays on the duality of force fields (evocation, banishment) and a mix of exploration, puzzles and action for lovers of the genre. Unfortunately, the lack of means is felt over the length and we very often complain about a badly adjusted camera and obvious technical problems (slowdowns, excessive copy-paste, textures from another time, etc.). Not to mention this permanent juggling at the level of the side keys of the controller. In the end, Soulstice is a game far from being uninteresting, but which is reserved for fans of the genre and amateurs of scoring.

Even more than for Echoes of the Fallen, The Rising Tide is aimed at those who enjoyed Final Fantasy XVI and who want more. In the context of a magnificent region, this DLC puts the challenge at the heart of its experience through battles that are as spectacular as they are formidable. The gameplay also evolves with the introduction of two new powers which finally bring more variety to basic moves. However, in addition to the flaws of the original game still present, this expansion only offers a fleeting scenario and above all a really short main quest which puts its price into perspective. It is therefore on a rather positive note that Final Fantasy XVI bids us farewell, after having been so divisive... like all episodes of Final Fantasy ultimately.

On paper, with its single player, its multiplayer and its Zombie, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 presents itself as a fairly complete package, and that is somewhat what it is. Alongside a dispensable campaign and a few adjustments to review (notably on the killing time), we had fun with the two online sides of this episode. Although focusing above all on a nostalgic formula, with its cards and features of yesteryear, it is difficult not to fall in love, once again, with these still successful shooting sensations. The Zombie for its part, although copied and pasted on Warzone and DMZ, turns out to be pleasant and rather gripping... In the end, in this title which looks like a “big expansion”, there are quite a few qualities! But these will only appear if Call of Duty is not your bedside title. Bold in its tone, atypical in its form, the creation of Odd Meter is like a cursed relic: it should not be put into everyone's hands. And that’s his greatest quality! But as everyone knows, the devil hides in the details: its good ideas that are ultimately little exploited, its madness which runs out of steam during the second part and its overly abrupt ending prevent its heroine from being canonized. It remains to be seen what Ubisoft has in store for us next, but the studio has a free-to-play program full of potential that we hope will grow over the course of updates to become as attractive as Rocket League and others...

Tropico 6 doesn’t stray too far from its comfort zone but it keeps on offering good fun while being very steady in its solid gameplay mechanics.

The visual rework may not be the best we've seen, but this 2018 Assassin's Creed Rogue edition is a true opportunity for all the players who missed the game in 2014.

With Evil West, Flying Wild Hog sinks its big fangs into the colossi (current and former) of Beat'em up 3D and creates an explosive amalgam. Admittedly, the created creature does not shine with the freshness of its flesh, but it will be able to satisfy the primary needs of those wishing to strike before asking questions. Pleasant to play without excelling in any area, the creation of Focus is an uninhibited return to the origins of 3D action games, without excessive RPG elements or open universes diluting its content. This God of Far West with AA sauce avoids breaking his teeth on promises he would have been unable to keep. A pretty good surprise.

FIFA 20 floods the player with content and so many things to do, so many way to play. But there’s nothing really new, which means that even the flaws from the previous game are still here.

Just Cause 4, on consoles, is a totally free sandbox experience, suffering from technical issues. Unluckily, the repetitive aspect of missions objectives will disappoint those who seeks more than a physical playground, even if combat system has evolved.

Excellent way to do sport with some cool musics and diversified exercices. Even if the graphics are too simple and the movement detection too much tolerant, the game is interesting and honors the promised concept.

Accessible and with a generous lifespan, Shadowverse: Champion's Battle manages to provide an effective gateway to the Cygames card game. Coated with a good-natured universe, the title allows everyone to get used to the mechanics of Shadowverse thanks to many really useful aids. Unfortunately, the lack of a French translation prevents it from reaching the target younger audience, which makes it more suitable for those who wish to try their hand at a card game solo and on a laptop, preferably. Same criticism on the side of its disappointing technique, its too simple scenario and its structure a little too repetitive which have something to tarnish the experience. Not enough either to prevent the title from offering a nice introduction to its real end-game: Shadowverse on PC and mobile.

With its renewed mechanics and charming environments, Biped, sold at a low price, remains a bit stingy in terms of level and a bit too short. We would not have said no to a more extensive experience.

More meditative than contemplative, FAR: Changing Tides is an invitation to tranquility, so assertive that it sometimes becomes sluggish. Between the long crossings, moments of grace maintain the interest of the experience, translated by intuitive puzzles and sound design at its peak.
