All in all, I certainly enjoyed Jupiter & Mars, and think it’s a PSVR title worth checking out. The environmentally friendly message being delivered is sound, the world is filled with interesting surroundings to explore, and the soundtrack is fantastic. The VR component is well done, but not mandatory for enjoyment. So if you’re in the market for a new, unique PlayStation exclusive, Jupiter & Mars certainly fits the bill.

Claybook is a massive chore to play. It clearly aspires to be so much more, but if you have any sense of wonder or creativity left after battling its controls and its camera, then you’re much more patient than I am.

It’s a pleasant enough experience that even if you do pick it up, you probably won’t regret it, but if you remember it for more than a few fleeting moments after finishing it, I’d be shocked.

I’d like to say that Dangerous Driving has some redeeming qualities. After all, it was possibly my most anticipated game for 2019, thanks to Danger Zone 2 making me eager to see what Three Fields Entertainment were building towards. Instead, we get this…thing. It’s a thorough disappointment, and I can’t help but feel like everything about it could have been improved substantially.

The quality of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on the Switch makes this a definitive way to play with the all-in-one convenience of what the console offers. And regardless of if you jump in now or at a price you like then you’re gonna have an awesome time with these games.

The year is still early, but I have no doubt that whenever my PlayStation 2019 Year in Review comes out, I’ll find that — much like Pic-a-Pix Colours last year — Block-a-Pix Deluxe is going to be right up near the top of my list in terms of how much time I spent playing it. It’s not groundbreaking, but it’s a lot of fun, and that’s all that matters to me.

It’s hard to figure out why THQ wanted to bring this game back more than 15 years after it was originally released, because there’s nothing to be found here that suggests the game deserved to be resurrected from obscurity.

Sure, you need to mute it to really get into it, but once you do that, you should find that Conarium offers an enjoyably creepy experience.

It’s clear that Ghoulboy is going for Castlevania/Ghosts ‘n Goblins clone. And, to its credit, it kind of succeeds on that front. But if you want a game that goes beyond imitating the classics, then you won’t find that here.

Provided you’re either willing to put in the work in hunting down additional players, or have a few friends interested in joining you, I think you’ll enjoy Dragon Marked for Death quite a bit. As a solo experience it can be a little less compelling, but still enjoyable enough to check out.

Alvastia Chronicles is, like so many other Kemco RPGs before it, as generic and forgettable as they come, with the only difference between this and most of its other publisher-mates is that this one looks further back than most for its inspiration.

Once you settle into Yoshi’s Crafted World there’s a good time to be had. It feels weird to call it a mixed bag in the visuals and gameplay department but it’s a mostly good bag with some stuff you just have to get through to enjoy more of the good stuff. Like Chex Mix! And with lots to do after the big boss there’s a good amount of value past the main game. But if you’re unsure then there is a demo on the eShop and you can decide for yourself if it’s worth a whole $60. I just hope if we have another adventure with Yoshi maybe he returns to his roots.

It’s a “blast” to play for those who want a great action game whether or not you’re a fan of retro games. But by now with so many retro inspired games on the eShop both this and the first Blaster Master stand at the top of the offerings as true must-haves.

Gain Ground is also one of those games people either love or hate even back in the day. And if I’m being honest it hasn’t aged well but my nostalgia allows me to enjoy it, so while $8 isn’t a big investment I also can’t recommend it to everyone. Why this is in the AGES line might just be for M2 to show off the vertical mode and join the ranks of only a few games which take advantage of this on the Switch because otherwise it’s more of a very well ported historical piece. Will I spend more time with it? Probably not after I put my big screen TV back in an upright position.

This is a very worthy version of Final Fantasy VII as it originally appeared and still worth playing today. If the few bugs are patched out it’s an even better deal. Whether you want to play it on the Switch with its unique hardware abilities or pay less on a different platform is up to you but I’m glad we even have these options. So it’s a good recommendation and we even got through the review without making a pun about the AVALANCHE of Final Fantasy releases now moving over to the Switch.

I’d like to say that there’s some redeeming quality to balance that out, but there’s really not. I mean, on some level, it’s kind of neat to see how well the game mimics the Game Boy platformers to which I devoted countless hours during my youth, but that’s hardly reason to recommend the game. There other games out there that inhabit the exact same space (did I mention Super Life of Pixel enough?), and they do it much better than what you’ll find in Awesome Pea.

As with the current offerings of SEGA AGES games on the Switch you will be getting a very faithful version of Alex Kidd in Miracle World with a couple extra features and very good emulation. It’s a classic title which is definitely outdated in some ways but also worth checking out for a kind of history lesson.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead has a great conclusion, and I’m happy the team responsible for it was able to see this through to the end. It’s a shame that their original parent company marred the overall experience significantly, but their ability to bounce back under another publisher and deliver to this degree is exceptional. I’m both sad and happy that this is the conclusion of Clementine’s tale, but the character arc is so well delivered, you won’t be disappointed.

Death End re;Quest is the sort of thing that Hyperdimension Neptunia would have skewered mercilessly — and, for the most part, that skewering would have been deserved.

Maybe I just had lowered expectations because my initial experience was so bad, but it was fun to play a platformer in which constant death wasn’t a given, but rather a side effect of choosing to take the more difficult route. Couple that with a retro vibe that’s spot on, and you can see why Daggerhood is a solid choice for anyone in the mood to play an old-school platformer that doesn’t seem to want to punish you just for playing it.

If you want a true-to-life baseball experience, this is almost certainly it. But when you get so close to doing everything right, what you do wrong stands out more. With MLB The Show’s track record, I have no doubt that, come MLB The Show 20, they’ll fix the niggling little issues that prevent MLB The Show 19 from being a truly great game — but for now, those issues still exist, and they’re what prevent the game from making the jump from very good to great.

I would highly recommend Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 to just about anyone, even if you weren’t a huge fan of the first game. This feels like a much better attempt all around, and certainly scratches the same itch that games like Diablo and Destiny did for me. It also has plenty of initial content to explore, making it feel like a worthwhile purchase while the developer irons out the finer points. So absolutely give The Division 2 a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s not quite the very best the nonogram genre has to offer, but it’s still a solid entry in the series, and if you’re like me, you’ll undoubtedly get your money’s worth if you choose to check it out.

It’s hard to imagine anything here sticking with you much beyond when you’re playing it. You’re sure to enjoy Mages of Mystralia while you’re playing it — and if you’re a fan of isometric RPGs, it’s certainly worth thinking about playing it — but I can’t imagine it’ll stick with you once you put the controller down.

London Detective Mysteria is silly fan fiction where Sherlock Holmes and Queen Victoria and Miss Marple and Jack the Ripper (or at least their proxies) all interact and no one bats an eye. But sometimes, you don’t need to bat an eye, and you just need to go with it. If you’re a fan at all of visual novels, this is definitely one of the times to just go with it.

While more difficult initially, it becomes more approachable and easier the further in you get and the more you adapt to the combat. Since you are not leveling in the same way as the other games, scaling does not work the same way. Once you master the basics, you can master the game. Sekiro is an absolute must buy for From Software fans and anyone willing to put in the work to really get a grasp of the flow of combat.

It’s a great addition to a fun game and I like seeing this little port get continued support. Still it might be nice to see a full-fledged sequel if the team comes back with more ideas.

If you want COD on the Switch, this definitely isn’t that. If, however, you want something that’s fun in short bursts and allows you to blast away at bad guys, then Modern Combat Blackout will scratch that itch.

How did Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn stack up against the original? Well being a port with some added features and missing the co-op from the original it’s not really definitive. It’s just here on a handheld and not the Switch. So if you’re not planning to play with a friend then it might be a good bet, but it also reminds me how much I enjoyed the original and both have their merits. But for what we got it’s in a weird place that makes me wish we got a ground-up sequel or remake instead.

Unless you played Hotline Miami and wished it featured more people shooting you dead from offscreen where you couldn’t even see them, you’re better off passing on The Hong Kong Massacre, because style is really all this game has to offer.

R.B.I. Baseball 19 is probably never going to match the polish of one of PlayStation’s flagship franchises. But, for the first time ever, it’s solid enough that baseball fans who just have an Xbox or a Switch don’t have to feel totally left out for yet another year. It may not be the greatest game ever, but neither is it anywhere close to being the worst — and seeing as some of its predecessors actually have a legitimate claim at that worst title, R.B.I. Baseball 19 represents an enjoyable and welcome step forward.

I liken One Piece World Seeker to a filler arc or a movie for the series. It’s non-canonical, but nonetheless can be an enjoyable experience. The game leans heavily on the player to be knowledgeable to the series and might be a turn off for those not familiar with the series. This is a competent title, but it falls short of what the teaser trailer promised.

Trials games have always been all about that feeling of “just one more try…”, and Trials Rising is no different. This is the best game of its type on the Switch, and one that’s sure to get its hooks into you and keep them there.

Dropping the puzzles in favor of a more streamlined, combat focused experience is another good change, and really helps the game have more of a laser focus. With plenty of content to keep you busy, as well as both free and paid DLC in the works, Devil May Cry 5 is well worth your time, and hard earned dollars.

Heroes Trials is blandly terrible in a way that will slip from memory now that I’m done with it.

Dead or Alive 6 continues the trend of being a fun title that has a low barrier of entry, but offers those who wish to go deeper a lot of tools to accomplish that. The title remains one of the more visually appealing fighting games out there in the market. Team Ninja has created the framework for a tournament ready title, It’s tough to have to appeal to a mass market, the fighting game community AND the community that stuck with them for all these years. They just need to avoid unnecessary controversies, maybe pump the breaks sheer amount of paid cosmetic DLC.

Personally, I can’t say I find it all that appealing. I get that the whole point of the subgenre is to make games as hard as possible, and if you’re craving a platformer that punishes you for playing it, you’ll find it here. But at a certain point, it all feels like a bit much — and in Necrosphere Deluxe, that point is where puzzles with no margin for error meets two-button twitch controls.

I can’t recommend God Eater 3 to everyone, you’ve got to be able to put up with a certain amount of dry exposition, lackluster VA line reading, a whole host of menus, and some obtuse crafting mechanics. But if you think you can either get past that or aren’t opposed to diving in and reading up on mechanics via in-game tutorials or through other resources, there’s a decent-to-great game here. Obviously if you already enjoy God Eater as a series, then I’d say God Eater 3 is a no-brainer for you. But for everyone else, if you have the option to try before you buy, I’d do that first, just to see if God Eater is a series you’ll enjoy.

This game is perfect for anyone who wants to play football without knowing all that much about its many intricacies. Football Heroes Turbo is no substitute for Madden, but if you’re a Switch gamer, that’s probably not what you’re after. This game is a throwback to the earlier days of gaming — and, given the whole beat-’em-up aspect, it’s a throwback in more ways than one.

Drowning shows that if you want to convey something as deeply personal as experiencing depression, you do so by making a game that feels deeply personal. It may not always be comfortable to sit through, but it draws you in and makes you care about its main character in a way that few other games can match.

Whatever momentary feelings of frustration I had while playing Mixups were more than outnumbered by how much fun I had overall. Even without the other five games Word Puzzles had, it’s still a worthwhile purchase if you’re the sort who plays word games — and I am, which means (like most of Lightwood Games’ other offerings) I can’t get enough of it.

If they had just made it so that there was any kind of skill involved in picking the right door — literally any skill whatsoever — it could have redeemed the whole thing. Instead, Left-Right: The Mansion just feels like a seemingly endless, monotonous game of chance, where the only way to win is to simply not play.

No matter how interesting an idea the progression system is, it doesn’t make up for the fact that everything else about Emerald Shores is brutally bad. In every way, from every perspective imaginable: this is just an awful, no-good game.

It’s actually kind of ironic to be describing anything in Death Mark as a breath of fresh air, since so much of it seems to stiflingly claustrophobic and dark. But really, that’s what it is: where most visual novels seem content, for better or for worse, to stick to a formula, this game does things a little differently, and for the most part, the game is better for it.

If you’re a Carcassonne fan who wants the game on your Switch, you should be happy to discover that the version that’s made it over offers a pretty faithful simulation of the real deal — and if you’ve never before played the game and you’re eager to learn (and don’t mind the easy AI kicking your butt repeatedly), then this is a pretty good time to start.

Even if you don’t have an ounce of affinity for the first game, or weren’t around to experience it to begin with, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove still comes together as a modern roguelike that everyone can enjoy.

With all of that, I cannot recommend Anthem to anyone at launch. There is simply way too much bad to allow for the good to truly shine through. The endgame content is really good, but the boring grind and unbelievably shallow story on the way there do not justify a $60 purchase.

The sound and gameplay both hold up and there’s something cool about playing this on a Nintendo console after all the history shared between them and Sony. It’s also the same port we’ve seen with options to speed up the time spent in battles. So if it’s the first time you’re experiencing the game then you’re in for a treat and I’m glad to see it on the Switch, but at a current price just over $20 for those with other options you may want to wait for a sale.

Overall if you like the aesthetic and want to spend an afternoon or more with a great little platformer then you can’t go wrong with LOVE. It’s a very attractive price and you get a unique game that you’d actually come back to now and then.

That oddness aside, however, Chronus Arc is pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a Kemco RPG. It’s not going to wow you with anything new, but it’s solid enough that you won’t be too disappointed should you find yourself playing it.

If you’re a Nintendo Switch Owner there’s no real reason for you to not download this title. It’s already a Game of the Year Contender.

Even if this were the most balanced game ever, even if it made picking it up and playing a breeze — ARK: Survival Evolved would still be a strong contender for the worst game on the Switch. It looks like garbage and it plays even worse, and no matter how great the intentions behind it or what crazy ambition it shows, there’s no reason why anyone should willingly seek it out and play it.

Crackdown 3 is certainly a mixed bag, what with a fun campaign mode that does come off a bit dated bogged down by a lackluster multiplayer mode that didn’t need to be included. However, it’s hard to argue against the Xbox Game Pass option, and Crackdown 3 is certainly worth the asking price for that program. I wouldn’t pay $60 for it, but $1.00 for the trial, or $10.00 for the monthly fee? Yeah, why not. It’s got enough to enjoy, more so if you enjoyed the original Crackdown, and won’t take up much of your time.

While Linear Bounded Phenogram is presented well, it’s simply not as good or satisfying as Steins;Gate Elite. I found myself just skipping through much of the dialog in hopes of getting to a heart pounding scene, but never really got what was looking for. There are some intense moments here and there, but it takes a long time to get there, and the road to them is long and rather dull at times. While it is well crafted and different, I can only recommend this to the true Steins;Gate fans who are hungry for more.

Gal Metal is a game where you’ll probably find yourself playing through the story just to get to music scenes where your goal is to provide a steady, unceasing beat. Not exactly the most thrilling stuff. Different than most other rhythm games, sure — and if you love rhythm games for the rhythms themselves, there might be something interesting here for you.

A game that could have easily felt like the final part of a trilogy now feels like the start of something more, and has laid the groundwork for potential Metro games to come.

I can recommend Steins;Gate Elite to anyone who wants to experience a fantastic visual novel with multiple endings. I cannot, however recommend this if you are hoping for full interaction or solid gameplay because there really isn’t anything like that here. Outside of a few button presses here and there, there is no game to be played. I am not usually a fan of visual novels, but I didn’t feel bored with this one. Check this one out if you love science fiction stories that captivate.

If you’re in the market for a game that does have relatively little structure, then that won’t do — though I’ll hasten to add that the game also includes a sandbox mode, where you can build to your heart’s content. But if, like me, you’re a more goal-oriented sort of player, then you’ll find that RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures offers a perfect blend of creativity and structure.

For those that were disappointed with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised here. It’s also a perfectly fine jumping on point for new players, and the online multiplayer component will likely give this game legs well past the initial launch. Finally, the VR really should be one of the first things you boot up, and stands out as one of the better VR experiences on the platform thus far.

If you’re looking for a game that offers tonnes of content, Scintillatron 4096 isn’t it, especially if you’re playing it on Vita. But if you played that Atari Flashback Classics collection and want to recreate the feeling with something newer, this game should do the trick.

If you have a PS4, Xbox One, or PC, you should really give Apex Legends a try. It’s managed to hit the ground running, with very little in the way of server issues or other hiccups after the first week. It’s clear Respawn has plans to support the title in the long-term, and the six Legends characters available from the start (with two more unlockable via in-game currency) provide enough variety to begin with. This will be the Battle Royale title I stick with for the immediate future, and I’m excited to see this game evolve over time.

Stay undeniably has a unique, interesting hook, but I can’t say that the rest of it lives up to that little bit of innovation.

Unfortunately, Dragonfly Chronicles isn’t one of those games that’s so bad it ends up being cheesy fun, or so bad that you can enjoy hating on it. It’s just plain bad, and not in any ways that make it redeemable.

I’d highly suggest checking out Battle Princess Madelyn, or possibly revisiting the game if you already played it around launch. The changes made so far have all been positive, and it’s certainly one of the best attempts at nailing the Ghosts ‘n Goblins formula that I’ve seen in recent years.

Now, do I love Pic-a-Pix Pieces so much that I’m ready to proclaim it one of my very (very, very) early GOTY contenders? Probably not, since there’s still a long time and a lot of games to go in 2019. I can, however, say with certainty that after playing the heck out of this game on the Switch, I’m going to pick it up for the Vita and PS4 and do it all over again on those platforms too. If that’s not an endorsement, I don’t know what is.

The PS3 version of Vesperia that never made its way out of Japan has always been a long sticking point for fans, and with the release of the Definitive Edition, it’s a wrong that has finally been righted.

It’s fine for what it is, and I certainly wouldn’t begrudge anyone who does love the game and hold it in insanely high regard, but if I’m being completely honest, I just don’t get it.

I think it does a great job of emulating a style of RPG that is generally not represented on consoles or PC’s nowadays, and scratches an itch I didn’t even know I had. It’s not overly long, has a solid combat system, and the story is robust enough to draw you in and keep you hooked. Give this one a shot when you get a chance, you won’t be disappointed.

Between the lousy voice acting, the crappy script, the over-reliance on cutscenes, and the absurd difficulty spikes, this game is littered with problems, and regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, it’s not going to be worth your time or money.

Overall Mario and Luigi Bowser’s Inside Story is a charming game. If you’ve never played this game before pick it up for this adventure alone. It is a fun enjoyable experience. However, Bowser Jr’s Journey should be skipped entirely, unless you are a completionist. The 3DS may be on the end of its life cycle, but that isn’t stopping Nintendo from putting out great games for the system. If you still have your 3DS and are a fan of RPGs, you will have fun with Bowser’s Inside Story.

Slayaway Camp will force you to choose between performance and play in a way that most other games won’t. If you can abide performance issues — again, lots and lots and lots of performance issues — the gameplay here might be strong enough to make up for it. But those issues are serious and occur with enough frequency that I wouldn’t blame anyone for not thinking this game is worth all those headaches.

If you combine certain elements of Hitman: Blood Money (that is, the sandbox nature of the levels) with certain elements of Hitman: Absolution (specifically, the better-looking graphics), you’ll wind up with something closely approximating the current games. Taken on their own, however, you get a pair of fun-but-flawed experiences. While they’re still worth checking out if you’ve exhausted both Hitman and Hitman 2, considering that you can pick up either of those games for a lower price than Hitman HD Enhanced Collection, you’ll need to decide for yourself just how badly you need more Agent 47 in your life.

Mind you, it’s no Fibbage, Survive the Internet, or Tee KO. And that’s why Jackbox Party Pack 5 isn’t quite on par with its predecessors. It’s a solid party game, to be sure, and if you’ve played Packs 2, 3, and 4 as much as I have you’ll be welcoming the new game options, but it’s not quite essential. Then again, “solid Jackbox party game” is still better than pretty much any other party game you could come up with — and for that reason, Jackbox Party Pack 5 is still a worthy addition to the Jackbox canon.

I’m sure that if you were to pull 150 games from any system, you’d have an equal number of hits and misses. So it is with Atari Flashback Classics. It may not make you rush out and find an old Atari cabinet or console in an antique shop, but it will make you appreciate exactly why Atari was, for a time, synonymous with video games.

It could be worse, I guess. Gear.Club Unlimited 2 could’ve suffered from the same fate as Asphalt Injection and been grind-heavy and ugly. Instead, you’ve got a game that’s just grind-heavy and boring. It works, which is nice, but with these load times, working feels like the least the game should do. The best games have some kind of exciting spark to them, and that’s one thing Gear.Club Unlimited 2 completely lacks.

So overall Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a retro inspired platformer and shows the genre at its finest. Not to mention it feels right at home on the Switch despite being a multiplatform release. If you’ve never played a Monster Boy game but have been looking for anything to scratch that Metroid or Castlevania itch then this is for you. And if you’re a Monster Boy fan wondering if this installment is any good then you should probably already own it. But if you don’t then take it from me you won’t regret your time with Cursed Kingdom.

Superficially it would be extremely easy to pass on this title. Yet when this title was pitched to me as Onion Soup Interactive’s digital love letter to all things Japan, the inner-weeaboo in me found the title to be oddly charming. I would certainly cast a more critical eye if I were tasked to review this studio’s future titles, but for a first effort this one’s not too bad.

Ultimately, it’s kind of a short game (around 20 levels or so, and it can be beaten in under 3 hours) that doesn’t do anything that revolutionary. But even so, it offers a nice tweak on the tower defense formula that will get your blood pumping. If you’re a fan of tower defense games, what more do you need?

The set features fan favorites like Attack from Mars, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed The Party Zone, which is not a table I was familiar with prior to playing this release. Also included is the pirate themed Black Rose, another carry over from the The Pinball Arcade. Once again the new physics model that Zen Studios has incorporated for these tables feels great, with fast, fluid gameplay and actual weight behind the ball itself. The lighting models for the tables are outstanding, and each table really pops, looking as close to the real thing as you’re likely to get.

P3D recognizes that not everyone has the same aptitude when it comes to rhythm games, so it makes sure that the easier difficulty is challenging without being impossible (while, of course, making the harder difficulty levels hard enough to challenge even rhythm game veterans). Would my enjoyment of Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight been greater if I went into it knowing and loving Persona 3 already? Possibly. But I can’t help but think that it’s a good sign that this game appeals to someone like me, who wouldn’t be able to tell you the first thing about the original.

If you’re thinking of revisiting Onimusha or just curious to try it for the first time then it’s a solid recommendation as a short and action-packed classic game with some good replay value after your first run. This just goes to show that a port in the right hands means it’s a good time to revisit older series that might now be forgotten.

Complaining about how hard a retro-platformer is seems kind of pointless — it’s been ingrained in the genre since they first started popping up in the first half of this decade, and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be going away any time soon. Which means that Super Life of Pixel gets a pass on its difficulty — and, more importantly, it means you get to compare it to many other games of this type. For Super Life of Pixel, that comparison is only a good thing, since — much like Life of Pixel — it’s a standout of the genre. Hopefully this time around, more people will discover it, because it absolutely deserves more recognition than it received the first time around.

It’s certainly light on content, light on songs, and rarely feels great to play from a video game standpoint. Yes, you can get a little workout in, but it would be nice if the Switch would accurately track movement more consistently. I think Fitness Boxing has the opposite intended effect after you whiff 3 or 4 hooks or uppercuts due to poor motion sensitivity, which in turn leads to some dejected, frustrating moments. As it stands, I wouldn’t recommend Fitness Boxing to Switch owners, at least not without some deep discounts involved.

Given that we’re talking about a budget casual title and not some expensive extravaganza, this is probably all you should expect out of Instant Tennis — which is why I started this review off with that exact admonishment. There’s not a lot here, but what is here will provide you with a pleasantly decent experience.

I’m fully aware that my perception of Energy Cycle Edge is skewed by the fact I’m terrible at it. But at the same time, because it’s so lacking in variety and so intimidating right off the back, I suspect my experience with the game might be the most common one. If you’re really into puzzles that push your brain, then by all means check this out, but otherwise, you’ll probably want to avoid Energy Cycle Edge.

If you thought it would be hard to screw up a port of Out Run then you’re right! Everything turned out just like you’d hope and it’s a great addition to retro games on the Switch.

If you like challenging word searches, this game certainly has them in spades. But as someone who deliberately left these puzzles until last when playing Word Puzzles on the Switch, I can’t say that I loved them any more this time around.

If my biggest complaint about a game is that I desperately want a sequel, that should be a sign that it’s doing something right. I don’t know whether one of those will come, but even if it does, I’m still glad that Donut County’s release on new platforms means that I — and, I hope, many other people — will get to chance to either experience it again, or experience it for the first time. Regardless of whether camp you fall in, it’s fun enough that it won’t disappoint.

Even with its flaws, Wordhunters is pretty fun. Less fun, of course, if you aren’t the kind of person who plays vocabulary and spelling games for fun, but if you live for a good game of Scrabble (and, better still, if you have a large group of like-minded friends), then Wordhunters will be a perfect addition to your game library.

The level designs are extremely varied and pretty smart, with fun puzzles that feel unique and make good use of the environments in each world. The grappling mechanic gets a lot of use, but in a way that feels fresh throughout the game.

If you do pine for the days where Battletoads and its ilk were kings, I Am The Hero will scratch that particular itch. If, however, you’re already not predisposed towards the genre, I can’t imagine there’s anything here that would change your mind.

Your enjoyment of Call of Cthulhu will depend entirely on what you’re expecting. If you want to be scared, look elsewhere, because this game will just come off as boring. If, however, you want a decent mystery, and don’t mind sitting through a few dumb attempts at stealth and scares, then this might just be up your alley.

If you’re anything like me, Word Sudoku is a dangerous time sink. But, at the same time, it also means that it’ll provide you with hours and hours of fun — which is really the point of these kinds of games, isn’t it?

Just about the only reason not to get Ticket to Ride on PS4 is if you’ve played it to death elsewhere at a much cheaper price — which, to be fair, is probably a lot of people. Still, if you’re looking for a way to experience a classic board game on your PS4, Ticket to Ride offers exactly that.

Atari Flashback Classics is a decent release. Despite some small issues, it is a great way to experience the early days of video gaming. Some games may not appeal to you, while others will bring back great memories. I would have liked better emulation in some areas, and more licensed games but what we get for the price isn’t too bad at all. If you’re a fan of classic Atari, or just want to see where gaming basically began, they you should definitely check this collection out. It’s certainly not the best it could have been, but definitely not the worst classic game collection available. As a huge Atari fan, I would say it’s worth your time.

State of Mind is smart enough to borrow heavily from all kinds of other, better media, but nowhere near good enough to come close to putting a fresh spin on those ideas. You’d be better served taking the dozen hours this game expects of you, and putting them into some combination of Blade Runner, Heart of Darkness, The Matrix, and Deus Ex.

The overall experience is just not there. If you want to guess words or answer trivia questions, it’s fine — but it never aspires to be more than simply “fine.” Given how easy it should be to make these games fun, just being fine doesn’t do the trick.

Admittedly, the good-natured dialogue isn’t enough to lift Revenant Dogma out of the realm of your standard RPG — not when such hefty portions of it are devoted to telling instead of showing. But that’s Kemco for you: RPGs that do little things here and there very well, but that, on the whole, don’t do anything spectacular.
