P3D recognizes that not everyone has the same aptitude when it comes to rhythm games, so it makes sure that the easier difficulty is challenging without being impossible (while, of course, making the harder difficulty levels hard enough to challenge even rhythm game veterans). Would my enjoyment of Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight been greater if I went into it knowing and loving Persona 3 already? Possibly. But I can’t help but think that it’s a good sign that this game appeals to someone like me, who wouldn’t be able to tell you the first thing about the original.

While Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight is weak on content, the game does a great job at celebrating the absolutely stellar soundtrack of the third entry in the iconic JRPG series.

Yes, it's bloody weird, and yes, you're getting a little less bang for your buck, but honestly, stripping back the original game so much has made for a much better experience. Now get out there and dance.

However, Persona 3 has excellent music and works well in the genre. It was surprising when they issued the initial Persona 4 Dance game but in retrospect it was an engaging spinoff choice. Objectively it is an enjoyable rhythm game with above average music and interesting environments. Easy mode is genuinely easy and from there, it gets quite challenging. If you like Persona games then the presence of old familiar characters sweetens the game, but, it isn't necessary to know the franchise to enjoy this game. Expand

It's like spin-off of anime that you love - it's cool to see more of those beloved characters but after all it's really just a waste of time... At first I was enjoying playing this game and I was curious of the setting... But after some time the whole thing was starting to look and fill shallow inside. It's nice to see the cast one more time but those pointless conversations were absolutely stupid... Gameplaywise it's nowhere near to great rhythmic games like guitar hero or rock band. If you really liked persona 3 and you want to see the characters one more time you can give it a try but don't expect anything more than just pretty wrapping paper with nothing inside. Expand
