Total War: Warhammer is nearly perfect. The production value is sky high, you can immerse yourself in the world of Warhammer. The game is very well-balanced, even though magic is introduced and the Lords playing a big part in it. The game has a brilliant performance too.

Dambuster Studios acts like it made a modern blockbuster: it offers an open world with side missions, dialogue filled with moral dilemmas and an intense crafting system. However, the game does not have a soul, it seems to be missing the ever so important finishing touches and it simply does not speak to us.

The storytelling and the interactions are not perfect, but Fragments of Him does offer a unique exploration of love and loss, which makes it worth while.

With its bizarre characters and their big range of skills, Battleborn has some very entertaining moments, especially when playing it with friends. Unfortunately the single-player missions are not very entertaining. Battleborn really is a game to play for the competitive multiplayer, but you will need to be okay with the repetitive and pretty standard hack and shooting action.

The dialogue sometimes feels as a waste of brain cells, but other than that Fire Emblem Fates has something in store for any type of gamer.

As many Milestone games MXGP2 is a pretty standard race game. The game does not look good, does not sound good, although it is pretty fun to use the dirt bikes.

Revolution: Black Friday is a very excellent use of a modern medium like video games to share an exciting and important moment in Iran's history.

Pro Gamer Manager could have been an interesting variety to Game Dev Story, but as your choices and hard work do not really make a difference, this is nothing more than a click game without progress or satisfaction.

Severed is a modern take on the old-school drpg genre. If you own a PS Vita, you should definitely own Severed.

This remake makes us relive the old days in an excellent new look. There are a lot of new gadgets, guns and gameplay elements to keep the adventure fresh. It is a bit odd how the main characters do not really seem to have a lot of chemistry though.

A Thief's End is an appropriate ending to the Uncharted series. It combines everything that made the previous games so popular with a long, robust and personal adventure with lots of variation.

In the RTS Automata Empire you rule an enemy of cuddly microbes. You only have limited influence on everything, which is kind of frustrating. It is cute, but way too passive and the repetitiveness makes things even more boring.

Housemarque proves how good it is at twin-stick shooters. All puzzle pieces fall into place: shooting, walking around, enemies and challenging gameplay. The story based setup makes Alienation a bit clinical, which makes this game less epic than Resogun and Super Stardust.

Star Fox Guard is a pretty standard tower defense game with a Star Fox theme, which does not make it a recommendation as a separate game. You'd rather buy the Star Fox Zero because the special edition comes with this concept too.

Lieve Oma is a very personal story about the relationship between a child and his grandmother. The game is definitely not worthless, but it simply does not impress.

Yo-Kai Watch does a good job at presenting the atmosphere of a small, Japanese city, which makes the less hardcore setup of this game less bad. Don't get us wrong, this game motivates you to catch 'em all, while enjoying a pretty cool adventure.

If you are looking for something totally new, avoid this game. Star Fox Zero is mainly a classic Star Fox game, though it does comes with some fun surprises. The controls are not great and the choice in airplanes is slim, but still, this is a pretty cool action game for Wii U.

The hell of bullets that awaits you when you enter the Gungeon is weirdly addictive, as you have a whole range of weapons and the map changes constantly. The game has a good foundation with great eye for detail, but those beautiful elements do not fully work together all the time, which can hopefully be straightened out with a patch.

Californium is an overdose of style hindered by a terrible gameplay concept.

Deadbolt feels like a less thought-through combination of Hotline Miami and Gunpoint. The game can be frustrating and difficult, which is partly because the game just is not that well made. It is okay, but very short.

This is a dark and ruthless horror game which does not offer you too many things to survive with. This small game is a challenge, and does some interesting things regarding visuals and puzzles too.

Fallout 4: Automatron could have been a brilliant part of a bigger DLC package, but just like it is now is simply not worth your money. The changeable robots are cool, but the missions are way too short and not memorable at all.

The third part of the Samorost series is the most memorable. The magical surrealistic world holds great detail and the amazing soundtrack makes the musical gameplay even better. The puzzles require a unique and creative way of thinking, which sometimes makes it hard to continue playing.

Dark Souls 3 is the perfect ender for FromSoftware's praised trilogy. The game combines the best elements from the other games into one awesome package.

Black Desert is one of the few MMORPGs that sees all professions as equals. Some days you can have fun fishing on a boat, while others you might enjoy hunting trolls on the ground. This is an MMO unlike anything we have seen the last few years.

Though first impressions of Adr1ft are usually very positive, the game itself is a disappointment. The gameplay elements stay pretty much underused and though you could argue that it would not be too bad for a 'walking simulator', the story is not great either. [VR Tested]

Underneath all the visual fireworks and impressive design Quantum Break is just a pretty good shooter with super powers. Some fights are great, but many enemies are plain dumb.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered balances on the fine line between remake and remaster. It is a fine facelift for a phenomenal game though.

Although driving around a fantasy town and reaching the stops in time is pretty relaxing, the same thing goes for a sleeping pill. The clumsy controls, lack of depth and extreme repetitiveness make Bus Simulator 16 a game that simply should not have been made.

Super quick, super complete and super cool - there are just not enough words to describe TrackMania Turbo. The action is over the top, easy to learn, hard to master and fun for a long time thanks to the many (multiplayer) options.

Changing the biggest disappointments from the last UFC really makes UFC 2 an excellent game. The developments in the fighting systems make the game more balanced and smooth. It is not easy to understand how to use it to the fullest though.

Hyrule Warriors Legends is like a remake of a GOTY edition. It has good additions when it comes to content and gameplay mechanics, but technically speaking Legends is a little disappointing.

The Hitman franchise seems to be going in the right direction. The loading times are annoying, but the gameplay is an ideal mixture of stealth, puzzle and adventure.

Pokken Tournament is not a bad fighting game, but it is lacking innovations that other games in the genre do have. The modes are just an excuse to endlessly fight the same opponents.

A gorgeous setting, interesting story and very strong multiplayer: The Division is one of the big surprises of 2016. The controls are not what we would like them to be and the boss fights could be more original, but the rest of it is simply excellent, especially when playing with others.

Identity brings back the Assassin's Creed formula back to the absolute basics. It is too bad that basis just is not fun.

Rusty Lake Hotel is an ultra short, but difficult puzzle game, in which you have to kill hotel guests in the most macabre ways. Every room is full of riddles that will eventually get you to the answer how to perfectly murder your guest. The simple point and click system is great and the puzzles are very well thought through: absurdly excellent!

There is not a lot of room for surprises in this new American Truck Simulator game, but it still is a good simulation of truck life. The atmosphere in the game and the combination of trucks and America's west coast are great.

Garden Warfare 2 offers a huge expansion to the garden from the first game. The open world is a good alternative to menus. The new characters make the multiplayer battle a lot more fun. It is too bad it takes a while to unlock things and that not all gameplay is well-balanced.

In The Flame in the Flood you have to deal with a long, tempestuous river. Whenever possible, you check out islands for food or drinks. As survival game The Flame in the Flood is very impressive, but after six hours you will probably have experienced all there is to this game.

Devil Daggers is an intense first-person shooter that seems to be shallow with a lack of features, but actually has an unexpected depth to it. In every level you will learn something new and the possibility to check out how other people play the game, makes it a very engaging experience.

Superhot is a radical twist on how we experience time. The level design is strong, the shooting action is challenging and the design is elegant. Though there are not too many levels to work with, Superhot is a thought-through and amazing shooter/puzzle game.

This game offers the same feel as the genius games of Relic Software, thanks to an amazing visual style and excellent audio. However, the controls, simple AI and framerate problems make this game pretty tough to thoroughly enjoy.

Rainbow Moon offers tens of hours grinding in awesome tactical turn-based fights. For many games this will feel more like work than play, but for whoever that loves the cycle of battles, finding items, leveling and battling again, this game is highly entertaining.

With The Following Techland shows it still knows how to create an excellent zombie game and again we have been totally sucked into this game.

After ten years this game still knows how to impress. The HD version is excellent, but it does offer the minimum of what you'd expect. It is mostly the same game with just a few minor tweaks, one of which is Amiibo support which is to be totally neglected.

The land of Oros is beautiful and full of life. That entertainment does not reach very far though, because human enemies can hardly be found and the story is a disappointment. Far Cry Primal offers the same action as its predecessors: an awesome feeling of hunting but gameplay that does not feel new.

​This is a surprisingly deep puzzle game that is hard to put down. It is really down to you if you succeed, cause this game does not involve a lot of moments of luck. The longer you play, the better you will get at it.

​This game makes up for the things that were holding its predecessor from being amazing, and offers a lot of new ideas that work well. This is the best Etrian Odyssey we have ever played, no matter if you go for the new story mode or the classic adventure.

​Cobalt sometimes is a very entertaining action-platformer. You want to love it, but Cobalt comes with too much unmeant frustration​ to really deserve that love.

Tharsis offers a lots of frustration and excitement, but when it comes to explaining things Tharsis seems to be lacking. The gameplay is a tad repetitive and therefore gets boring swiftly. That is a pity, cause the playing the dice and the good buildup makes Tharsis an interesting game.

​As a fighting game Street Fighter 5 has ​potential, especially thanks to the new mechanics in the battles. It is challenging, but it does not really show as the game feels unfinished and does not have enough modes and content.

The modern setting, the use of color and the introduction of the rifle are great, but the extra difficulty level of Chronicles Russia shows how poorly this spin-off is designed.​

Bravely Second i​s the sequel to Bravely Default and it shows that it is an amazing franchise. The writing is a little bit less strong than its predecessor, but it still is an amazing JRPG that's worth playing.​

Thanks to the surrealistic atmosphere and visual style this game is very charming. The story the game is trying to tell is not really clear, which makes the game unnecessarily difficult. The puzzles are simply not logical and the hints are simply evil.

The Legend of Legacy takes an extremely thought through fighting system and does not do anything special with it. It is cute, but truly difficult and it takes a lot of perseverance and patience to continue playing this game, which does not really reward you for your hard work.

Unravel is a beautiful puzzle platform game that quite vividly speaks to your emotions. The downside however, is that the game itself is simply not a lot of fun to play.

There is a lot to explore in this game, but unfortunately putting LEGO and Marvel together simply does not mix too well. A few small errors make keep this game from feeling truly epic, but there is still enough to get out of it if you are a fan of Lego or Marvel.

Even though Blade & Soul follows the pattern of an mmorpg, the fighting system feels new enough to enjoy it until level 45. After that this game is a more standard mmorpg.

This game is a challenging metroidvania. You play in a gorgeous surrounding with an intriguing backstory, which is divided by challenging boss fights. However, the more time you spend, the more boring this game becomes. It is predictable and it lacks having real interesting developments throughout.

This world is made to challenge the player and make the player feel proud. That works well on this island full of puzzles, which uses riddles to form an interesting story.

Firewatch uses extremely atmospheric woods to tell a nice story in four hours time. That same forest is keeping you from feeling free though, and the story misses depth. Was this game a bit too ambitious? It certainly seems so.

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is a lot more fun than Gates to Infinity. There is not much change, so the randomly generated dungeons are still unimpressive, but the story is nice, the soundtrack is good and those 720 Pokemon to collect are excellent.

Space Grunts is a well made turn based roguelike. It does not have the depth of The Binding of Isaac or Nuclear Throne, but the difficulty level and speed makes this one of the best indie-plays this weekend.

For a rally game Sebastien Loeb Rally EVO offers a lot of challenging content, but you never get the chance to fully enjoy it because of the non-fitting visuals and sounds.

Though this game is obviously better for handhelds than consoles, the atmosphere and original gameplay still rocks on PS4. It does not matter if you are already familiar with this game or not, just play the Remastered version as it is worth your time.

The promise of an island full of challenging puzzles makes the Witness feel a bit inauthentic. That is not a problem, as this world is created to make the player feel proud. Always keep learning is the slogan for this game because if you are not willing to understand the puzzle methods, you will not enjoy this game very much.

XCOM 2 is very much the same game as the first, but that is good news as XCOM is a modern classic. Firaxis has not been lazy though: the enemies are new and the threat is bigger than ever before. The classes have become a lot tougher and the campaign plays with the concept of being switched between humans and aliens.

Resident Evil 0 has aged a lot worse than Resident Evil 1. Zapping between characters is too gimmicky and the character Rebecca is so badly written, it is almost as if the developers have never spoken to a woman before.

Final Fantasy Explorers plays like an MMORPG that fits your pocket. It offers a lot of freedom in building your own character, and you will have months of fun on 3DS with Final Fantasy Explorers.

An old-school, enticing ghost story, that is indie game Oxenfree in a nutshell. As a player there is not a lot to do besides walking around and having conversations, but the choices you make will influence how this creepy story ends.

It would have been so easy to make Punch Club a freemium game, but the developer didn't and that is good. Punch Club is a simulation game that sometimes reaches the level of Theme Hospital, which is very admirable.

Darkest Dungeon has a strong beginning with a creepy atmosphere and challenging boss fights. However, the threat disappears after a while and the game gets monotone. Even so, this game is still a very entertaining rogue-like that is worth your time.

Trails of Cold Steel is an excellent mix of Suikodens political business, Persona's Social Link-system and the daily fun of Grandia, while still being a Trails-game. This is definitely one to recommend to any JRPG-fan you might know.

The Chronicles series has the same issue as the bigger Assassin's Creed games: it is too much of the same thing. ACC: India is like ACC: China with a different surrounding. It's not bad, but it is boring.

The illustrations by J.J. Grandville make Aviary Attorney a unique game, especially as it is supported by the music of Camille Saint-Saens. Is it perfect? Not really, cause the game is way too short, simple and easy.

Amplitude is - thanks to its rhythmic and quick gameplay - just as awesome as it used to be, but the weak and monotonous soundtrack is a let-down.

Annoy yourself with this game. The concept is better than the gameplay, but that's okay. It is awesome to go on an adventure in this misleading indie title. Totally worth your time.

The combination between word puzzle and platformer makes Typoman very unique and entertaining. Unfortunately the controls are not comfortable and the logic of the puzzles is a bit lost at the end of the game, which makes Typoman a little too frustrating to enjoy.

Dragon's Dogma on PC takes away a few graphical frustrations we had on the console. The improvements the game got in Dark Arisen are still in there, which makes this one of the best and one of the most difficult niche RPG's on the market.

Euro Fishing has potential, but it should not be called a simulation game. Real fishers will see right away that this game has a lot of flaws, even though it may look very good.

Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- is only meant for the most fanatic players of fighting games; gamers that are practicing year after year hoping to compete at EVO. Though Sign is looking better thanks to the new engine, it offers a lot less characters than its predecessors.

Subterfuge will make you check your phone like some addict. Tactical, real-time combat and diplomatic negotiations with fellow players come together to take over your life.

At first Rogue State feels like anything is possible, but soon you will see that there are limits to that freedom. It is simply not layered enough to be really interesting, but we do appreciate Rogue State for trying.

Planetbase starts off cool, as there are only few sim-builders that kill your characters after you have failed an assignment. It is too bad this game fades out after half an hour, because this really could have been something rather different and awesome.

Calling Undertale a strange game would be wrong. The story is bizarre, the characters are fun and the scenes are funny. Plus, this RPG can be very surprising. The problem Undertale is struggling with is that you do not really have the power to influence the story at all and there are a lot of long fights you have to get through to see everything this game has to offer.

This game is somewhat shallow in fights, but it does give that Dungeons & Dragons feel that we love. This offers a unique behind-the-scenes into the biggest analog role playing game in the world.

Baseball Riot is a fun little puzzle game that is nice for a while. After that, it gets so repetitive and frustrating, that it just does not do it for us.

With Dirt Rally Codemasters shows why it focuses on racing games. The rally feeling from Colin McRae Rally is back, and might be even better. If this is the way Dirt Rally is headed, this game has a bright future ahead.

The follow-up to Fat Princess is not competitive, it is an action RPG like Diablo. The smart class system makes the game interesting, but still you will not put hundreds of hours into it.

King’s Quest is letting us down a little bit in this second episode, as it has less logical puzzles and a shorter story. Thanks to the animations, atmosphere, voice acting and emotional moments it is still one of the best adventures of this moment though.

If you are new to this franchise, you'd better run away fast or play the first one first. But for the fans of Hatoful Boyfriend this is a nice addition to the original. It might be hard to understand, cause the translations are not top notch.

On paper running a construction company and handling big vehicles sounds pretty fun, but in this game it is dreadful. There are a lot of technical issues, but even the things that do work are simply not fun. It's boring, uncontrollable, slow and badly written.

Mini Metro is a minimalistic transport simulator that gets difficult pretty quickly. It is insane how a simple game like this has a hold on us like that, but we are sure the stylish presentation plays a part in that.

Nuclear Throne works you until you finally climb that throne. The chaotic shooting action and the many many mutations combined with a random build up in levels make sure every experience feels anew.

Story of Seasons takes a while to get going, but when it does, it is an awesome Harvest Moon-like experience. There is an interesting system in place for dealing with rivals and new ways of farming mixed with classic gameplay make this game worth while.

SteamWorld Heist is an excellent strategy game. The single player is nice and long, the missions are challenging and there is enough depth to do every mission like you want to. Even if you usually don't like this sort of game, you will probably love this one.

With a few quick new rides, gameplay types and other possibilities to enjoy cars in a huge open world, Wild Run is a good addition to The Crew. The price is a bit high though.
