A House Divided has the player making hard choices that greatly influence the story. Clementine is calling the shots in this episode, which feels good but also was a necessity for the dynamics in the series. The great balance between action and storytelling brings the series back up to its trusted and solid quality level.

It’s pretty incredible how much fun Titanfall is, and how fresh it feels, because the shooter hardly introduces new elements and mostly scouts mapped terrain. Respawn Entertainment manages to combine depth and fun seamlessly. That said, Titanfall is one of the most important players in the shooter landscape. Just like that. Boom, headshot.

Yoshi's New Island is the cheerful, solid platformer you'd expect it to be, but doesn't win an award for originality. New features and the gyroscope make for some variation, but because of the simple nature of the game, there's little reason to get everything out of it.

You need to have at least tried Dark Souls 2, or you'll get nowhere. It pulls you into its depressing, brutal world and that feels like a homecoming to its masochistic fans. Still, everything is different. Only via trial by fire you'll discover as a player what the perfect balance is that From Software achieved with its forced changes.

Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition is the zombie fest that got us hooked in 2010, but with better graphics and funny extras.

Colorful, humorous and mostly fun to play: Garden Warfare is unexpectedly a multiplayer shooter that can easily live besides Titanfall on Microsoft’s console.

Shapist takes a classic form of puzzles and gives it a modern spin. The puzzles are challenging and the distraction minimal, making this one of the purest puzzles games on iOS. This also makes it incredibly hard; it could’ve used some hints and tips.

We’ve rarely had this much fun with a game as simple as Threes!. Everything about it just works, from the visual execution to the deep gameplay and funny sound effects. Hours become minutes with this game.

The Stick of Truth is the best South Park-game ever played, a very fun game in and of itself and gives the franchise a new dimension. Something that only could’ve been done in game-form. It wouldn’t be Obsiadian Entertainment though, if it didn’t have two handfuls of technical issues and design flukes.

Tengami is a serene, wondrous experience that can enchant anyone of all ages. As an interactive experience it works perfectly, but gameplay wise it doesn't deliver the same quality.

If you look at Thief like it's a series of sneaking puzzles, it works just fine. You really do feel like a master thief when sneaking from shadow to shadow unseen and relieve every area of its valuable contents. It fails in almost every other way though.

This tough city builder takes you and your capital delightfully serious, but thinking logically and rationally. Once you figure out the system, the game unfortunately loses its challenge though.

As Dracula from Lords of Shadow 2 said: evil will always prevail. His words are especially relevant so it seems: bad moments are littered throughout the game and spoils an otherwise great action adventure.

Dandelions: Chain of Seeds manages to get you to think and relax at the same time. An impressive display of game design that got rewarded the 'Best Indie game'-award at Casual Connect in Amsterdam. Completely justified by the way, because it offers uncomplicated puzzle fun.

Ys: Memories of Celceta is a joy to play. It isn't a technical marvel and doesn't get an award for originality with its story, but the practically perfect combat system reconfirms developer Nihon Falcoms thirty years of experience creating action RPGS's. Memories of Celceta is incredibly fun, addictive and a must have for any RPG-loving Vita owner.

Doodle Kingdom doesn't have flashy graphics or nerve wracking flying maneuvers, but does have healthy puzzle fun for all ages. In Doodle Kingdom you'll find an expansive medieval world filled to the brim with known creatures and other fantasy elements.

99 Bricks: Wizard Academy is sympathetic, addicting and challenging. New challenges introduced at the right times intelligently show how much depth the simple ‘build-a-tower-Tetris-game’ can have.

Left Behind is the perfect DLC. It’s not extra padding, doesn’t feel like it but comes across more like closure for a nearly perfect game. Left Behind enlarges the world with seemingly small additions that are so much more than an extra level.

Jazzpunk is a rare comedian in games. As an adventure it doesn’t have much to offer, but the game succeeds in its primary goal: surprising its audience and getting them to laugh.

With Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Nintendo shows that is still knows best how to create an excellent platformer. Not only is it beautiful to observe, but the level design is amazing and it has many memorable moments.

The confusing plot, unsympathetic main characters and the continuously ticking doomsday clock make Lightning Returns an unpleasant experience that's saved by its fun battle system and a pretty world to explore. Lightning Returns is Final Fantasy without the fun, feeling of wonder or the emotional wealth that made the series great.

Danganronpa is an exciting visual thriller filled to the brim with betrayal, murder, uneasy romance and an insane teddy bear. Great localization actually turn the characters into people, until they die in horrible manners or get sentenced. Danganronpa isn’t the most challenging game by Spike Chunsoft, but one you should take to bed to read instead of your usual crime or romance novel.

Look up ‘old-school’ in the dictionary and it might very well have a screenshot of Might & Magic X included. Gamers that grew up with turn & tile-based RPG’s will get exactly what they remember, including technical faults. Newcomers might just run for their lives.

After many delays Smoke and Mirrors was finally released, that visibly shows that it suffered under the haste of the developers. Besides from sitting back and watching an interesting story, there isn’t much to do in this episode, that has been shortened and has quite a few nasty bugs.

Dungeon Keeper is a new mobile free to play game by EA, and one of the most aggressive games in the genre. It has elements of a game, but these are so well hidden beneath shiny buttons, childish images and tons of tough rock, that it’s better to avoid the dungeon altogether.

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is anything but intuitive, and that’s exactly what makes it this much fun. While you’re doing everyday things with your family you’ll be rolling on the floor laughing, whilst also feeling something for the characters and its story. All the more a shame that the camera isn’t cooperative at times and certain moments simply don’t work, because Octodad: Dadliest Catch is something special.

Bardbarian is very addicting. So much so, that it’ll have you wonder whether you’re actually playing it to enjoy yourself. Thankfully, this doesn’t matter on the commute. A game of Bardbarian is a great time waster.

Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition isn’t anything more than its predecessor. Yes, the graphics are a little bit sharper and yes, there are voice commands to, for instance, quickly switch to your map. But what has been added isn’t of value. The Definitive Edition is still a great adventure and a high point in its genre, but also only a recommendation for those who haven’t played Lara’s resurrection last year.

Mega Jump 2 is mostly more of the same. Who played the first game, will undoubtedly enjoy the second, were it not for the new options, that’ll do anything to bleed you dry financially.

Act 1 of Broken Age is a point and click adventure game in heart and soul, but doesn’t reach the heights of the LucasArts games of old. The game is beautiful and tells a great story; a snack to drift off to during these dark and dank days.

Atmospheric images, a filmic soundtrack and very strong acting make Detective Grimoire an experience for everyone. The game offers original and varied puzzles, intuitive controls and a play style that forces to exploring its beautiful world. Enchanting, challenging and interesting to the very end.

Highborn offers insight into what happened to the disbanded Westwood studio. Beneath a thick layer of dry, American humor is a decent strategy game, that’ll provide lonely strategists with an evening of fun.

Castle Doombad is funny, addicting and original enough to keep tower defense fans entertained for hours. If you’re looking for a new addiction, then Castle Doombad is your game.

Farm Heroes Saga puts on a familiar show, which'll have it picked up shortly. It does also have its shortcomings though, which is why it probably will not be as successful as its predecessor: Candy Crush.

You only need a shallow appreciation for the Marvel super heroes culture to enjoy the newest Lego game. It has a lot of playable characters and the variation between exploration and standard levels is great. That makes it hard not to take the sometimes antiquated design for granted.

A stealth game from the makers of Metal Gear Solid, that continuously breaks the fourth wall: Republique is an original game in an interesting science fiction setting, the despite a few downsides, gets presented with so much enthusiasm, that it deserves a little love back.

The beautiful, atmospheric snowy world of The Banner Saga forms the decor for a story in which you're forced to accept all the consequences of your choices. The simple, but entertaining turn-based gameplay usually works in favor of the story, not the other way around.

Peggle 2 might be the most addicting game on the Xbox One. Online leaderboards and more content would've done it a few favors, but it doesn't buckle under this criticism. 'Xbox, go to Peggle 2' will be a phrase uttered in many living rooms.

It's a shame that developer Press Play couldn't create a stronger control mechanic, because the game is filled to the brim with creative puzzles and varied levels. Whenever we think Max reaches its full potential, the control scheme comes in and holds in back.

Even on your cell phone, San Andreas is a big and entertaining game. Even now it looks great and some parts have even been tailored to the platform. Touch controls could be better, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you'll have a great time with San Andreas for a few Euros.

Papers, Please gives you a simple task that doesn't ask a lot of you. The game outgrows its mechanics though, by appealing to your moral compass and emotions. This indie game will get under your skin, will have you feeling uncomfortable and have you think about yourself, as a person.

Doki-Doki Universe is barely a game. The only thing you do is walk around and talk to characters, to find out what makes them happy. As an interactive story it's actually quite entertaining and regularly puts a smile on your face.

Battle Worlds: Kronos is a tactical strategy game that borrows from classics such as Battle Isle and Panzer General. Missions take long and demand your complete devotion, which makes the game fun but slow at certain times.

All That Remains is a raw telling drenched with cinematography intricacies. The action and tension are held back, but in this chapter emotions play a bigger role. Playing as Clementine you'll feel at a loss for direction and abandoned, but also ready for everything.

Angry Birds Go isn't anything more than an attempt to make a quick buck. A shameless product that 'forgets' to be clear about how expensive it really is, and forces players to reach for their credit cards.

A lack of modes and content makes Killer Instinct mostly a glorified demo. The promised extra content could change this, but that Killer Instinct turns out to be a boring fighting game is harder to fix.

Dead Rising 3 is a typical zombie game with an enormous world to get lost in, countless weapons and vehicles to play with and more than enough zombies to slay. That sure is entertaining. Unfortunately boredom sets in, in a matter of hours. The 'normal' running, driving and killing isn't broken up enough by interesting things to do or events and the open world might be huge, but that's also why it bores. Luckily the game is fully playable in coop, which makes everything more enjoyable.

Lococycle is boring, ugly and not funny in any way. This is the worst launch game the Xbox One has to offer.

In its fundamentals, Gran Turismo 6 is still the best simulation racing game on consoles. The visuals bring the game to life, but the audiovisual cracks in the ceiling are becoming noticeable. If you can accept certain limitations, as well as the fact that the game will need a few updates, you'll keep your PlayStation 3 plugged in longer than you might've thought.

Zoo Tycoon looks polished, the animals are incredibly cute and they're a joy to take care of. A lack of depth and an incomprehensible interface hold it back.

Assassin's Creed Pirates is about shallow sea combat and fast boats. A simple, but entertaining snack.

The freedom of movement and cooperative combos make Warframe an entertaining coop game. Unfortunately, that only really counts if you're willing to spend money on it. Warframe is not only very misleading, but would improve from the extra content. The restrictive free-to-play model isn't working in Warframe's favor.

The Serpent's Curse plays like a classic point-and-click adventure, but the story takes too long to get interesting, the characters are quite implausible and the puzzles are hardly a challenge.

The Novelist is mostly a missed opportunity. It combines stealth and adventure in the midst of adult dilemma's, but never do its fresh ideas turn The Novelist into an exciting or emotional whole.

FIFA 14 is a great soccer game, and this goes for the new versions as well. Not only is it prettier, but it plays better. EA doesn't do away with existing issues though.

Whoever hasn't fallen in love with cars yet, will be after playing Forza Motorsport 5. It's incredibly beautiful and races like a dream. The used business model that leans on micro transactions has many consequences for the distribution and availability of the content though.

Joe Dever's Lone Wolf mixes Infinity Blade-ish combat with an interesting story, but is graphically demanding. Every menu is interactive, moves and demands computing power, what leads to long load times and crashes. Behind these problems hides an entertaining fighting game and an interesting story.

Desktop Dungeons is typically one of those games that clicks you through the day when you're bored. The mechanics are fun, humor funny, but after a day you've pretty much seen everything there is to see.

The newest expansion Rubicon provides power to individual players and smaller corporations. The new deployables are a welcome addition, as well as the beautiful new ships. With that, it disrupts the balance of this stone cold PVP-world, which is a great thing in EVE's case. Rubicon is proof that CCP is going in the right direction.

With its pretty pictures, Ryse: Son of Rome doesn't manage to hide that it has the depth of a glass of water. The far from perfect combat system turns the game into a bore in no-time.

In a world of ultra short hyper active single player campaigns, Killzone: Shadow Fall delivers a contemporized piece of excitement, that manages to leave a nice taste in your mouth after eight hours of action. The multiplayer simply keeps you going for quite a while longer.

Bravely Default is the best Final Fantasy game since part nine. Traditional JRPG-elements are perfectly combined with good new additions in the combat system. Bravery Default also utilizes the 3DS's capabilities quite well.

Super Motherload is somewhat enjoyable, but after a while becomes too much of the same. You're mostly digging, after which you'll take your empty tank or filled cargo hold back up to sell your things. Afterwards, you'll simply do the same.

Tearaway flourishes because of the Vita's control option. They guarantee a good platformer that'll let you reshape and destroy the environment by touching it.

Good controls, nice chiptune music and farcical imagery make Fist of Awesome a wonderful beat 'm up. It hardly bores and you feel the fun the developer had making it with every strike.

Oceanhorn is not quite original, but has enough character to stand alone. As a matter of fact, there aren't many games that reach this level of audio-visual fidelity. Every self respecting handheld adventure gamer should pick this up.

The Cities of the Future expansion doesn't solve all of the problems that plagues the original, but does make for a more challenging and playable experience.

The Sorcery!-series brings the magic of game books to phones and tablets, with charming images and a strong story. Sorcery! plays like an RPG but thanks to its enthralling storyline and oppressive moments more personal and more exciting than many games in that genre.

Rivals takes Most Wanted's open world and blends that with the open roads and landscapes of Hot Pursuit, with a paradise filled with distractions and dangers. The seamless transition between single- and multiplayer it so that another player can challenge of help you in every event. Rivals guarantees a continuous sense of excitement and sensation with great controls and a relentless sense of speed.

Contrast is given shape by promising and atmospheric game concepts, but comes up short in its execution. Although switching from light (3D) to shadow (2D) could potentially create unique and challenging situations, the simple puzzles and bad controls only guarantees a minimal experience. If the possibilities were more though out and everything would work just a bit better, this indie game could've been much more interesting.

NBA 2K14 plays big on emotion on the PlayStation 4. From Lebron's frown to the friendships of your own player; a basketball experience has never been implemented in a game this well before. This realistic environments make the actual playing of basketball flourish. The result is not only a prettier NBA 2K14, but a better one at that.

Tiny Death Star isn't as much a game as it is a collection of action figures from the Star Wars-universe for in your pocket. Although the sim-part enjoys like Tiny Tower and The Sims, Tiny Death Star doesn't add much. Checking and supplying the stores or seeing characters walk around is fun, but without added elements and purchases of up to € 89,99 the message is clear: Disney's got dollar signs in its eyes.

Proteus is without a doubt not for everyone, because playing in the traditional sense of the word doesn't really happen. It does, however, deliver an enchanting experience through the harmony of images and sounds, which leaves enough room for your own imagination.

World of Warplanes is a very nice arcade flyer. It steers nicely, shoots nicely and dogfights are also, well, nice. Every awful pilot can play tens of heroic and enjoyable games. Unfortunately the game plays it very safe and doesn´t do anything that hasn´t been done before because of that.

Super Mario 3D World is a strong and beautiful sequel to 3D Land, but after the amazing heights of the Galaxy games this console platformer feels somewhat more like a step back: the gameplay doesn't allow for many new elements anymore. Despite that disappointment, 3D World is a varied and balanced adventure where newcomers and veterans alike will find many hours of good old fashioned fun.

Ratchet & Clank: Nexus offers (as an epilogue to the Future trilogy) exactly what you'd expect. The same gameplay as in the main parts, with a handful of new weapons and gadgets and on a much smaller scale. A lack of surprises is compensated for with the timeless quality we're used to from the series.

The Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal is, especially on mobile platforms, and excellent reason to give the games (another) chance. Hardcore fans won't get many improvements though and are better off modding another version.

Wii Sports Club is going to do well at parties, but the way it's set up will make less suitable for gamers that regularly play sports games. They might enjoy Wii Sports Resorts for longer. The online mode of Wii Sports Club works well though and in combination with the new mini games it's worth trying out.

Burial at Sea is potentially the best DLC of the year. Rapture has been beautifully brought to life, which has you reaching for you PrintScreen button multiple times throughout playing. The story is also brilliantly told, but the content has been split in two. This makes it a relatively short experience, and players will have to deal with that until they can get their hands on part 2.

Deadfall Adventures is an uninterrupted stream of clichés, awful cutscenes, mindless shooting and a decent puzzle here and there. Whoever was hoping for Uncharted on the PC is better off buying a PlayStation with Drake's adventures. It might be a bit more expensive, but much, much better.

Rayman: Fiesta Run is absurd, entertaining and an excellent example of an endless runner game. It's fast, challenging and can be quite funny. Ideal to fill up the lost minutes with or just to run off some stress you acquired throughout the day.

A Link Between Worlds is one of the, if not the best Zelda game yet. It takes the player seriously and leaves the innocent charm of the adventure intact at the same time. The game never lets the story get in the war of the adventure, and has a lot to discover for loyal fans. The 'rent an item'-system balances freedom and challenge perfectly.

The collection of mini games don’t offer enough variety to stay interesting for long and the controls spoil the fun. It’s only visually interesting.

Professor Layton is saying goodbye for a while, but not before finishing the Azran trilogy, that’s obviously been written for the Layton connoisseurs. Thanks to its detailed appearance and atmospheric world you’ll forgive it for its somewhat recognizable puzzles.

W2K14 offers up many option for players to personalize the game: design your own wrestler, move sets, entrances and a complete soapy story. The main attraction definitely is the very good 30 years of wrestling-campaign. Unfortunately the camera could be better and the lack of an actual story mode can be a downside for those who look forward to it.

This expansion simply makes the original game better. A few annoyances persevere, like iffy controls and visual bugs, but that doesn’t weigh up to the amount of great content Enemy Within ads.

With this fourth attempt, studio Milestone is finally on the right path and manages to deliver a good rally game. WRC: FIA World Rally Championship 4 offers a decent experience, mostly thanks to the nice controls and career mode. Unfortunately it doesn’t look as good as it should nowadays and it feel pretty unpolished.

Sharp graphics and subtle gameplay can’t disguise Knack for what it is: a shallow platformer with little personality. The story, music and the world don’t grab players and feel distant and sterile due to the American sauce that was mixed in. In a launch line-up filled with shooter violence, it stands out, but in a few months most will have probably forgotten Knack.

Shoot‘em-up-fans will get their needs filled on the PlayStation 4, because Resogun is actual space crack. It combines this ultra-classic type of game with everything a hyper modern console has to offer. The old-fashioned blasting of spaceships has never been this pretty or intense. Take into account the challenging, but mostly very awesome selection of worlds, and before you know it you’ll be hunting for high scores for hours on end.

Path of Exile is a unique game. Not because of its contents, because we’ve seen all of that before and many times done better, but simply because it’s a full featured dungeon crawler that’s completely free. Especially Diablo 2-fans shouldn’t miss out on this.

Never before has a Call of Duty game had this much potential. Ghosts plays like a dream, but there are many thing that degrade the experience. It struggles with some sloppy multiplayer issues, and aims for more action and spectacle instead of tactical teamwork. A lot of these issues will probably be addressed in the near future with a patch. We sincerely hope so, because Ghosts’s foundation is one that craves to be built upon.

Football Manager 2014 finds improvements in its details. That makes it the best, most expansive and mostly most accessible football management simulation ever, without sacrificing its depth.

Origins is the least impressive game the series has to offer. Warner Bros. Games Montréal eagerly uses the fundamentals that original developer Rocksteady created and perfected with the two other Batman-games, but forgets to build upon it and really make it their own. The combat system is the best it has to offer and can make Batman: Arkham Origins quite entertaining. Aside from that, there’s nothing here that its predecessors don’t do better.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut is still a great action RPG with a phenomenal virtual word to get lost in. It doesn’t ad much aside from The Missing Link DLC, and isn’t very impressive graphically, but we can still recommend it for Wii U. Especially if you haven’t gotten around to playing it yet.

Battlefield 4 is the best Battlefield yet. It has more maps, more modes, an improved progression model, brings back the Commander mode and finally introduces a map in which all vehicles and weapons can be tested at anyone’s leisure. We haven’t even brought up Levolution yet. We couldn’t have asked for more from a new iteration, except for a decent campaign maybe.

Aside from over 150 characters, easy to get into gameplay and pretty, varied levels, Skylanders Swap force has one excellent new element: dismantling the toys and combining them into new characters.

If a great adventure is what you’re looking for, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag can be easily recommended. It’s a pleasure to discover troubled waters and bays by ship, and it’s easy to get lost in the many things to do. All the while, the returning sneaking and fighting still manages to captivate. Getting somewhat annoyed by the excessive hand-holding, the limited artificial intelligence and during climbing it isn’t uncommon.

Device 6 is a unique combination of literature and games. Text and puzzles are nicely accompanied by a surprisingly chilling atmosphere. Multiple times it manages to hurt the brain, but keeps players invested with an intriguing story.
