Viking: Battle for Asgard is a very nice hack-and-slash game. It's really not difficult to play and is still very enyoable. The huge battles with thousands of soldiers really makes the game supurb.

But because the game is so fast, you move faster than the camera. This results in you overlooking some enemies.

Dirt 4 is a strong game for both casual fans and racing diehards. Not all new features are amazing, which keeps Dirt 4 from being brilliant.

Company of Heroes 3 builds on what made the previous games so good. The tactical and at the same time chaotic way of warfare is even smoother thanks to the new gameplay elements and requires less micromanaging. Due to a lack of major changes, the end result feels like more of the same, but the enthusiast will be especially happy with that.

Mario Kart has a reason to be jealous. ModNation Racers has fantastic AI, balance and of course endless amounts of creation options. The small problems in the track editor can be taken for granted, but the handling of the karts and the agonizing load times keep this game from pole position.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge offers timeless entertainment. It's obvious that Tribute Games developed this game with a lot of love. That results in a game that plays it safe with a couple shortcomings, of which the chaotic multiplayer throws the biggest spanner in the works for less experienced players. Apart from that, this game is more than worth your time.

At its best moments, Manifold Garden is just as good as Portal and The Witness. And while the puzzle game gradually loses some of its power, the infinite, impossible and awesome levels continue to amaze.

For those who are seeking a simple, addictive arcade-game with some adrenaline rushes, self-mockery and originality, look no further than this game. Unless you hate the letter "A".

The fun planet AR-Y 6 totally has us invested in Journey to the Savage Planet. This colorful playground filled with (un)friendly life offers many secrets that get uncovered bit by bit. A great experience with a great sense of humor.

Though this game is obviously better for handhelds than consoles, the atmosphere and original gameplay still rocks on PS4. It does not matter if you are already familiar with this game or not, just play the Remastered version as it is worth your time.

The adventures of Sam & Max are without a doubt the best point and click adventures ever. Despite the fact that the game doesn't even come close to the PC-version, we still recommend every gamer that has never played a Sam & Max before should start playing it. The collision detection seems off sometimes and the game isn’t exactly an example of original gameplay, but this is the game you need to buy if you want to get to know the WWE-franchise. Smackdown vs. Raw can be played by anyone thanks to the simple gameplay and is also a looker. The game is also filled with different modes and options to make your own content to share it with friends online.

FIFA 14 is as strong on mobile platforms as it is on consoles. It works well with the limitations of a touch screen and the concessions in gameplay are hardly reason for concern. Especially with the free Ultimate Team-mode Fifa 14 offers an adult soccer experience.

After completing the seven levels the only thing that remains is the need for more.

The simple combat system and the large amount of grinding make this a game for a particular type of gamer, and the lack of an online multiplayer is a missed opportunity. Nevertheless, Dragon Quest IX is a very complete RPG which will offer countless hours of fun. This is probably the prettiest and biggest RPG available on the DS right now.

Act 1 of Broken Age is a point and click adventure game in heart and soul, but doesn’t reach the heights of the LucasArts games of old. The game is beautiful and tells a great story; a snack to drift off to during these dark and dank days.

Despite not being the long-awaited revolution in the RTS genre, the game still offers tons of gameplay. Multiplayer is a very solid addition to the genre and same goes for the single player. Despite the fierce competition, the game will probably attract its share of followers.

The Alps in Steep are both exciting and relaxing. It is so much fun to spend hours and hours on your snowboard in these amazing looking mountains. There is not a lot to complain about, apart from the paragliding which is just not the same as going skiing or snowboarding.

Joe Dever's Lone Wolf - Act 2: Forest Hunt is an interactive story with beautiful imagery fights that literally shoot out of the pages. The complex RPG-elements will have you lost in the world of Magnamund before long.

Yakuza Kiwami is a great new take on the classic crime game. The story is fascinating and it is hard to let go of this beautifully shapen world.

Brings the political and economical facets of running your own little island to life with vivid colors and tropical music. The game also adds a lot of humor and stays true to the original game.

When you're the proud owner of a next-gen console, the last thing on your mind is to play 2D shooting games. At least, that's what you think. Make an exception for Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. Because of the simple fact that this will be the most frantic and over the top action you will ever see in a 2D game. Give it a go!

PES 2019 is great at really understanding soccer and making it feel like a real game. The controls are tight, the unpredictability is amazing and it feels like a very solid experience. The only thing that is bothering us are the other players and referees.

Plants vs. Zombies is a casual game in the way only PopCap Games can design. The game is charming, original and addictive. It lacks depth in comparison to other Tower Defence games, but makes up for lost ground by adding new and fresh rules. And if you're looking for a challenge, just hang on. You'll find it eventually.

As a re-release of one of the finest arcade racers of the modern era, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered is a tasty treat in 2020 too. We do miss a bit more value for the money than just the improved graphics and crossplay.

The ending of Tales from the Borderlands is worth it. All key characters get the closure they need, and even though there are still some flaws in the game that we have been mentioning at every episode now, the finale is amazing.

Hurricane is a worthy sequel to Hydro Thunder. The tracks offer variety and have a lot of dynamic obstacles, the game offers some strategy and the multiplayer lengthens the replayability.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is a good game. With the unique fighting-system, healthy length and high production values it is already a convincing title, but the thing that makes it the most interesting is that it’s a beautiful tribute to the series. The negative points like the lack of online-options, an unpolished camera system and the sometimes awful voice acting can't hide the fact that Dissidia is one of the most surprising PSP-titles this year.

Guitar Hero has become even more user friendly. The experienced player will have a problem with the minor flaws and the lack of improvements. As a party game Guitar Hero 5 has succeeded.

Sledgehammer has created an excellent Call of Duty game. Especially when it comes to the online modes the franchise really made a comeback. Hopefully the server issues are gone soon so we can thoroughly enjoy them.

This will cost you more than your average game, but you might want to consider it anyway, as it is so much fun combining franchises in a world filled with LEGO bricks. The balance between videogame and physical figurines is done quite impressively.

Square Enix seems to have put considerable time in the development of Revenant Wings. You notice that right away from the quality of the graphics and music. We would have liked a deeper fighting system, but since this is a handheld game, it might have been the right choice to keep things simple. We're sure fans of the franchise will have a great time playing this and newcomers will have no problem picking this up.

The Wii-controller was instantly understandable thanks to Wii Sports. Nintendo Land doesn't do exactly that for the GamePad, but it does show that it can be a great addition to games, especially with friends. Thanks to an original concept – a theme park based on 12 Nintendo games – which is well executed, this is more than a simple minigame collection.

And again Ron Gilbert shows why his games are so appreciated. Deathspank is a stylish action game with a great sense of humor.

Overlord II has refreshing and well designed levels and the multiplayer modes give the game meat. However, a frustrating camera, unstable framerate and crude humour take away from the experience.

Bioware has done it again: creating a cast of characters we would die for. The main story is uninspired and the flashy combat gets a bit stale after dozens of hours, but our love for the Veilguard remains.

The EXO-suit makes the already very strong multiplayer experience feel fresh and new. We appreciate Sledgehammer for offering great maps, awesome weapons and the rough and tough vertical gameplay. This might be the best Call of Duty in years.

Picking flowers of the heads of monsters isn't something you do every day. Aside from this quirky game mechanic, Lili is also a surprisingly fun adventure in a world full of colorful characters.

FIFA 14 is a great soccer game, and this goes for the new versions as well. Not only is it prettier, but it plays better. EA doesn't do away with existing issues though.

Though the puzzles are very easy and the game could have been longer, Rick and Morty-fans will love this VR experience. There are so many Easter eggs and secrets to reveal, even after the 5 hour storyline Virtual Rick-ality is great.

Soul Sacrifice looks a little bit like Monster Hunter, but leans on completely different game mechanics. Being able to sacrifice you companions, your enemies and yourself make this a special, but estranging experience. Especially online it gets tense with the people in your team, because they have the ability to sacrifice you for a magical attack as well.

The Beatles: Rock Band has become the ultimate Beatles experience. You can feel the passion Harmonix has put into this game by looking at it. It provides a feeling of Beatlemania for everyone who weren’t around when The Fabulous Four were so popular. Despite the more casual approach compared to previous Rock Band titles and the lack of some favourite songs, The Beatles: Rock Band is an example of how music games centered around specific bands should be.

A fantastic finale of this colourful franchise. The story is pure genius, the action well thought out and the puzzles offer a lot of challenge. Let’s hope Insomniac Games keeps offering ways for us to enjoy this virtual world, perhaps through a subfranchise. We can’t miss the great one-liners from Captain Quark or the visual beauty and exotic weapons!

Hatoful Boyfriend is a memorable visual novel. The birds in this dating sim are surprisingly interesting and have big personalities that unfold in a story that is deeper than we would have thought. In the base Hatoful Boyfriend is a funny game which will make you go WTF?! pretty often.

Tetris was already perfect and it shows that Puyo Puyo is a great addition to it. The game has a lot of modes and options and the storymode is a great vehicle to put more time and effort in this legendary game.

Bit Dungeon is a pleasant homage to Zelda, Diablo and other classics. It looks simple, but develops into an addicting, compact RPG. Where other games in the genre require lots of work and investment, bit Dungeon remains playful and entertaining.

Tetris Effect is a beautiful and artsy way to experience the old game of Tetris. The full package might not be as full as we would have liked it to be, the creativity and love for this puzzle game is definitely there.

If you loved the Captain Toad bonus levels in Super Mario 3D World, you will most definitely enjoy this game. It is a beautiful and charming adventure full of fun and different challenges. Too bad the camera is not always your friend, and too bad this game is a bit on the too expensive side.

The reason why Red Faction exists is the fact that we love to break stuff. A thing that this game does best. And it doesn't feel old after a couple of hours, because you can always choose a different way of playing. The boring story, somewhat dull surroundings, and few graphic hiccups won't change that. Guerrilla feels like a fresh new start for the series.

Death's Door is a great Zelda-inspired game that relies on exciting (boss) fights and an excellently set up world. The game never really manages to rise above its great example, but is so solid and equipped with such a good soundtrack that this is never a serious problem. Death's Door even has enough surprises in store to keep it fun after the end.

Wipeout HD is the new definition of HD gaming. The high quality of detail and coolness seems to drip of your screen. And the best part is that the gameplay doesn't even suffer from all of this. Only renewal is something that you won't get for the asking price of Wipeout HD.

Ikaruga is without doubt the best arcade shooter ever made. Although the Xbox Live Arcade version isn't changed most compared to its predecessors on the Dreamcast and Gamebug, this game is absolutely worth the 800 points. The game is quite a challenge though, which might not appeal everyone. But if you like a challenge, you will be entertained for hours with this game.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is an evolution of Fatshark's previous Warhammer Games. The balance between the two fighting styles, the impressive graphics and variation in enemies make every mission a special experience.

Keep an eye on Ronimo Games. Without any notice they released an RTS game with a new and fresh perspective. This approach does have it disadvantages in the form of difficult camera positions, but in the end Swords & Soldiers is all about have a blast. With special thanks to the original gameplay, good graphics and great humour.

Droplitz offers more depth and challenge than you would guess from its simple and abstract presentation, which makes it on the best puzzle games on XBLA.

Day of the Tentacle Remastered balances on the fine line between remake and remaster. It is a fine facelift for a phenomenal game though.

Developer 2K Marin has put everything into creating the best tactical fights possible. Because of this the third person alien shooter is at its best when taking on enemies in combat. Unfortunately everything else is less refined, but despite this The Bureau is still a great addition to the series.

If Monster Hunter is slow dining, God Eater 3 is shamelessly snacking. You will get a high of hacking monsters, but afterwards you will feel empty.

Behind the playful exterior of Ibb & Obb you’ll find a cooperative puzzle gem. Playing with gravity works phenomenally well and solving puzzles is gratifying. Ibb & Obb is far from perfect with its slightly monotonous gameplay and lack of a good reward system. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that Ibb & Obb offers a cooperative puzzle experience that from time to time reminds you of Portal.

Kirby and the Forgotten World is one of the most enjoyable Kirby games yet. The magical three-dimensional game world, countless skills and funny Mouthvol shapes keep you entertained. Don't expect deep combat or challenging platforming, though - the focus is purely on carefree fun.

Even though Syndicate does not struggle with the same issues as Unity, there are a few annoying elements to it. That is frustrating, but they do not 'break' the game. The characters are interesting and the location where this adventure happens is gory and gorgeous at the same time. Syndicate is definitely worth playing.

Shadowrun Returns is precisely what it promised to be on Kickstarter: a game that harkens back to the olden days, with HD resolution. Especially older gamers will find nostalgia and fun in this world, expanded by the level editor. For the younger audience the old fashioned imperfections might be too disruptive, but every RPG fan who loves Blade Runner should give Shadowrun Returns a shot.

Warhammer Vermintide 2 plays it safe, but the Left 4 Dead-like gameplay makes it worth your while. The many locations, classes and enemies will keep you busy for a long time. Too bad storytelling is a bit off on this one.

Morningstar: Descent to Deadrock is a heavy, challenging adventure game. When it comes to puzzles, you are thrown in at the deep end completely, as there are rarely any hints. The result is a pure point-and-click experience that both rewards and frustrates.

Its easy to call Brawlout the new Super Smash Bros, but where Smash Bros really is a party, Brawlout is a lot more competitive. Great for people that loved Smash Bros. Melee, but only if you are ready to do a lot of grinding.

Devil May Cry 5 is past it's expiry date, but it is still very enjoyable. There's great variety in fights and the soundtrack leaves us wanting more.

There is not a lot of room for surprises in this new American Truck Simulator game, but it still is a good simulation of truck life. The atmosphere in the game and the combination of trucks and America's west coast are great.

Rusty Lake Hotel is an ultra short, but difficult puzzle game, in which you have to kill hotel guests in the most macabre ways. Every room is full of riddles that will eventually get you to the answer how to perfectly murder your guest. The simple point and click system is great and the puzzles are very well thought through: absurdly excellent!

Disney Infinity 3.0 offers a great Star Wars adventure, but it is on the short side. Thankfully the side missions are filled with Star Wars fan service that make up for a lot. Technically speaking the game is somewhat glitchy, but the beautifully designed figurines will probably make this game a success once again.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon is a surprising game that combines two series that have very different game mechanics. It does it very great, as this is an accessible Mystery Dungeon-game that offers more challenge than Pokemon.

Puzzle Craft acts like it combines two genres, a puzzle game and a city builder, but in reality only the puzzle portion remains standing. The three-in-a-row section is well executed and has a few fresh, new elements, but never really reaches challenging heights.

The Cities of the Future expansion doesn't solve all of the problems that plagues the original, but does make for a more challenging and playable experience.

Colorful, humorous and mostly fun to play: Garden Warfare is unexpectedly a multiplayer shooter that can easily live besides Titanfall on Microsoft’s console.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a very cool game at the beginning, but the progression system overshadows all the fun. That is too bad for a game that really shows how awesome Star Wars really is.

War of the Roses attempts to make you feel like an actual knight who takes part in enormous battles in the middle-ages. Once you master the gameplay you can become the hero of the battlefield, if your timing was correct and you're not lacking any tactical insight. War of the Roses rewards you well for these traits, but that doesn't make it a great game.

Play Black Future ‘88 especially if you like to wander through procedurally made 2D dungeons with cool weapons. Despite its unclear and repetitive moments, this is a cool roguelike.

​The dismal atmosphere, the interesting story and the original use of the Wii U Gamepad make Project Zero: Maiden of Blackwater a unique horror experience. Some parts of the game are a bit old-school, some things are a tad too repetitive, but the horror and the dreary atmosphere make up for that. It is not nice, but it is definitely haunting.

New surroundings and a twist to the story are exactly what Assassin's Creed Origins needed.

FTL: Faster Than Light is basically an incredibly simplistic spaceship simulation. The choices you make during the game, make for a complex and challenging experience though. Graphically it might look fun and cartoony, but it's an incredibly hard and unforgiving game in which a small mistake can lead to a game over screen. Despite the high difficulty it's a game that you'll restart constantly, because you'll want to improve on yourself and because it'll stay fun.

WarioWare Gold offers old school chaos with tens of microgames. The humor is of great quality, but the mini-games have stayed pretty much the same, making this game feel more like a Best Of than anything brand new.

If you thought Far Cry 5 was too big and repetitive, you will enjoy post-apocalyptic Hope County. Though New Dawn is just meant to be "in between", there is a lot of variation thanks to the Expeditions, missions and the possibility to conquer bases.

We Were Here Together wants to be more than just a light-hearted co-op puzzle game. The narrative layer that this must bring, however, especially detracts from the puzzles, which are strongly designed and can stand on their own.

Puppeteer is a magical experience as an interactive puppet show. The lovely, though quite sinister style is easy on the eyes and the musical setting feels refreshing. The gameplay doesn't deliver on the same surprises though.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs isn't as much of a game as its predecessor, and gets less frightening after a while. If you wouldn't have to change your underwear 17 times we'd even go as far as to describe this as an interactive novel. At those times the game shines with an intelligent and nauseating storyline. It's just a shame that gameplay elements from The Dark Decent were unnecessarily sacrificed for that.

A Crooked Mile bring backs a great pace, hard action and the powers of the big bad wolf are once again in your hands. It lets go of puzzles though, which Telltale seems to have completely written off.
