In epic multiplayer battles, players pilot a First Order TIE fighter through intense dogfights in space, and play as ground troopers or iconic heroes and villains, such as Yoda and Darth Maul, across all three Star Wars eras. Featuring new characters created by Motive in close partnership with the story group at Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Battlefront II single player campaign delivers a new story to the Star Wars universe. Taking place in the 30 years between the destruction of Death Star II and through the rise of the First Order, the single player story introduces Iden Versio, the leader of Inferno Squad, an elite special forces unit of the Galactic Empire, who are equally lethal on the ground and in space. In addition to Iden, players also encounter and play as other iconic Star Wars heroes and villains like Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren during the campaign. [Electronic Arts] Expand

Star Wars Battlefront II is like a dream come true. The game has a lot of content and it knows how to manage that with a campaign which introduces one of the best characters in the series. It also has a multiplayer that will be the one that catches us for months. Graphics and sound quality are the best of the generation, without a doubt.

This may well not be a perfect game, but it’s certainly a great one, it’s energetic, thrilling and engaging.

Star Wars Battlefront II is a solid shooter true to the Star Wars universe, able to replicate the most famous battles in Lucas’ universe.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is one of the most enjoyable multiplayer games of 2017, especially if you like Star Wars. It's also more flawed than it should be. Battlefront 2 doesn't deserve to be wholly defined by loot boxes, but it's inescapable given the impact they have on some of the core modes. This is why you don't tie gameplay to microtransactions.

Battlefront II is fan service and little else; much respect to the craft, the attention to detail and the wealth of content, but sadly it just isn't enough. It's starting to feel as if Star Wars simply isn't a franchise suitable for this type of sprawling, large-scale multiplayer experience. It doesn't have it in its bones, and if DICE can't find a way to make it work, we're fearful nobody can. [Issue#195, p.72]

A good core game of cool Star Wars battles on fun and interesting maps is bogged down by clumsy, convoluted progression systems, and the single player is interesting but unfinished.

It is especially abhorrent that this should happen in a game with almost unrivalled massmarket appeal...No doubt EA and its trio of development studios will fix this mess eventually, but the fact they deemed it fit for purpose in the first place is unavoidable, and damning in the extreme. Whatever happens next, we're afraid we don't patch review scores. [Issue#314, p.104]

RecentlyI as a Star Wars fan am totally addicted to this game. I loved the first BF but steered clear of this after the controversial launch. Recently heard good things from other gamer friends and so bought it for a really good price. I have not been disappointed, the graphics are stunning on the One X + 4K TV. There is no micro transactions what soever, just pure star wars multi player fun. At the moment I am playing coop mode, which I would suggest any new player to do the same. You can level up and learn the basics in this mode really well - it’s still multiplayer but only 4vs4 with the rest c- the rest of the teams are made up of AI bots so you can actually rack up kills and level up too. This game takes some learning but there areas many good you tube tip videos - definitely recommend watching some of those. Highly recommend this gorgeous looking star wars game - so much fun. Expand

Having played through the campaign, as well as run a few hours of the flagship "Galactic Conquest" mode, I give this game a 7.5/10. Here'sHaving played through the campaign, as well as run a few hours of the flagship "Galactic Conquest" mode, I give this game a 7.5/10. Here's why:

-The lootcrate system is bad, simply put. Though if they hadn't withdrawn the paid-for currency, it wouldn't have been pay-2-win. Rather, the problem is that it makes the progression system somewhat "grindy". You don't level up for time played - you level up for how lucky you were with the crates.

-The gameplay itself is solid. All of the gunplay and movement feels solid and the modes and maps are very well designed. Combat occurs where you feel like it "should" occur, and the MP is packed with plenty of intensity. You really get the feeling of being in the middle of a Star Wars battle scene.

-The campaign is decent. It tells a somewhat vanilla story - a bit predictable, like every other Star Wars movie ever - but it's clearly a "Star Wars Story". I felt like the protagonist of a Star Wars film. Replayability is a bit debatable, but it's worth the time for at least one playthrough.

-In terms or graphics, the game is beautiful. It brings the Star Wars universe to life in all it's detail and wonder. It's a real kick to be running around the MP maps, and see all the little details of the movies. Even Hoth... a map that typically ends up being bland due to everything being covered in snow/ice... looks beautiful thanks to the subtle details and shading. However, there is some stuttering in some of the "ambient" animations (why is that turbolaser skipping frames like a 90s sidescroller?).

All in all, it's a solid game that improves vastly upon it's predecessor. With the promise of free DLC in the future, I'm confident about my purchase.

Aim reticle moves on its own regardless of which controller settings you use. Trying to lead a target results in the reticle shooting off in the direction your leading towards which makes it impossible to play online. Some searching online reveals this is a common problem and strikes people randomly and worse there's no fix. The developers are aware of the issue and haven't fixed it. I'm refunding the game and moving on. Expand

Any critic considering a positive score should be ashamed of him/herslef.

EA's predatory behavior doesn't need any kind of sustain whatsoever, even the smallest accolade is out of place. Despite the presence of honest developers working behind this huge and shady company, if we truly care about gaming as a form of expression, freedom and art, we truly need to defend these values strictly, punishing every single attempt to degrade this beautiful dedication that is gaming. If we truly value what gaming can be, we should push against any attempt of damaging it with greedy microtransaction and gambling.

DO NOT SUPPORT EA, for the sake of gaming itself.
