Puzzle Adventure Blockle has its share of good intentions that don't get fully implemented. Its puzzles are fun and feature some funny ideas and the game has a very precise difficulty curve but it needs some polishing around its plot and feature more incentives to solve its puzzles.

I Am the Hero tries to bring back the 16-bit sidescrolling beat'em up and for a game that features such a good art style and amount of attacks and combos, its overall experience falls short of what is to be expected. Repetitiveness, poor controls and performance issues end up harming this effort, which could have risen to a much higher level if they had been properly addressed.

Justice Chronicles is a simple turn-based JRPG made in the style of its 16-bit era counterparts, no more no less. It's very competent at what it does and fans of the genre will find plenty of reasons to enjoy themselves around its world. The threshold should not be set too high, as it does not go beyond that. Its visual environment needs to be brought to our time and its plot can overextend itself too many times.

In the long run, it doesn't add anything remarkable, as the game becomes too repetitive and the level of interaction is sub par, which overall ends up harming the game's prospects.

Its experience ends up suffering from a control system that makes no use of the Nintendo Switch touch screen, however, and the game's interface is everything but intuitive. Beyond that and its unusual premise, which is likely to keep less experienced players away, Megaquarium is worthy of a look.

Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Islands puts a strong emphasis on aspects that most adventure and exploration RPGs don't touch upon, such as gathering resources, farming and cooking. If this aspect works well and gives the game a particular charm, there are other aspects where Stranded Sails does not stand out in the same way, namely its shallow combat and some repetitive moments.

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is based on a good idea and its gameplay is certain to attract players for some time. It also hits a wall at one moment, as the countless deaths and necessary repetition will push many players away and risks being finished mostly to fight frustration.

Shape of the World is unlike most games out there. Rather than a structured, narrative-driven or action-driven plan, Shape of the World proposes something more akin to a sensory experience and one which is quite successful at plunging the player in a different state, thanks to the game's eerie abstract beauty. Where Shape of the World disappoints is in its length and dimension, which feel a lot less ambitious than it could be.

Despite its excessive simplicity when it comes to combat and the lack of customization choices, the game features a captivating art style and does a good job when it comes to the survival experience. Pity it doesn't go all the way towards excelling in all its other elements.

Earth Atlantis looks alluring, thanks to its unique art style it conveys the format of an old navigation chart, which is somewhat unusual for a bullet hell sidescrolling shooter. That being said, it could have certainly invested in its other elements, as the game lacks the needed sense of enthusiasm to keep the players interested for long. If the bullet hell style was grand once, it needs a bit more in order to stand out nowadays.

Comic Workshop provides some simple and effective tools to create comics on the 3DS. It’s not a full-fledged comic book maker but it provides a very helpful assistance, even if the small screen of the 3DS will demand a high degree of precision from the user.

For a game based on detective investigation in a noir background, Tokyo Dark Remembrance seems to have gotten off the track in several ways. There are good ideas here and the game's plot and soundtrack clearly stand out as two of its best assets but the execution has several flaws and its art style does not match the game's purpose. Tokyo Dark Remembrance is a mixed bag that needs polishing in several aspects but which is based on mostly right principles.

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure does not aim to reinvent the wheel and it certainly couldn't aspire to that with its struggling camera and often imprecise jumping, which make the experience more time-consuming than it should, but this doesn't erase an accessible plot and long-lasting gameplay, once the game's dynamics set in.

Boreal Blade brings a gameplay based on melee fighting to a multiplayer-only experience, both online and local. The game gets the combat right, as it works quite well and it's simple enough to learn quickly. There's also plenty of customization options and the demo shares the servers with the full game. However there's also too many connection problems and the game's online community is still small, which can end up harming the experience.

With plenty of missions, its lifespan stands out positively but its control system needs tweaking, as it often happens that players will find themselves in difficulties in several moments. At the same time, the game could also use some more individual charm of its own.

This is a game that makes strategic thinking very difficult and the shallow plot and undeveloped character progression further downgrade its RPG credentials. On the other hand, it does have an attractive action component, rich and enticing visual and sound environments and a well-implemented steam-as-fuel mechanic.

This space-based shoot'em-up is all about frantic action and while the experience is rather quick, there's quite a few customization options available and its gameplay mechanics are simple enough to provide something accessible to fans of space shooters. Those not too keen on the genre should look elsewhere, though, as this work caters almost exclusively to those who enjoy frantic shootings in space.

State of Mind has a rather peculiar look but its plot stands out as its greatest asset, as well as the availability of multiple characters for the players to control. On the other hand, despite the quality of the plot, it's also rather slow-paced and takes its time to grow, which will most likely put off the less patient players and the events are rather predictable for those who know the sci-fi genre.

Just Dance 2019 arrives just in time for another holiday season and it shows that it's still the best dance game on the market. It also has very little to offer that is new or innovative and while its musical catalogue keeps growing and the game allows the players to have access to this ever bigger legacy, there are no new game modes or anything that would make a veteran discover something new. Orthodoxy notwithstanding, it's still a fun game and welcoming for newcomers.

RXN -Raijin- falls into the predicament that many bullet hell shooters suffer from, which is not fully standing out among its peers. While it features some good gameplay and controls, its combat segments are way too short and the progression system is unbalanced. Overall, this makes the game less involving that it could be, which is a shame as there was potential here to go further.

My Big Sister might not be the most enthralling masterpiece ever made but this production is not without its charm and value, namely its plot with multiple endings and art style. Those looking forward for its puzzles will find them too similar and its lifespan could certainly use an improvement but My Big Sister stands out when it comes to quality of its writing and character interaction.

Terraria is a large and content-packed free-roaming experience that will bring dozens or even hundreds of hours of gameplay to those who commit themselves to it. Sadly the 3DS conversion had to let go of some aspects that make Terraria a more appealing game on other systems and this portable incarnation is also affected by several problems in its visual performance.

The Legend of Legacy is an unorthodox RPG that focuses less on its narrative and plot and a lot more on the combat experience, as well as audio and visual environments. While lacking charisma and an overall involving universe, The Legend of Legacy will satisfy those looking for fun and addictive combats backed up by marvelous artwork and a magnificent soundtrack.

Cycle 28 is an extremely minimalist but nonetheless competent space-themed shoot'em up that features a solid gameplay and a plot structure that is undeniably interesting to a certain point. The game's minimalism ends up becoming excessive, however, and a bit more variety would not harm, especially since the Cycle 28 as it is runs the risk of becoming repetitive too quickly.

Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power has headed into a 3D direction and while the audiovisual qualities of the series remain top notch, the new world in which the game is set does not feel entirely right and the experience ends up getting harmed as a consequence. There is no doubt that the series' co-op component is still one of its main assets but bringing Trine 3 into a 3D world raises questions that don't always get the best answers.

Presenting itself as a large dose of fan service, with fun combat sequences and a very good cooperative component, it fails when it starts to get too repetitive and simplistic and its level of challenge comes off as not balanced enough. This intersection between Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter will mostly satisfy the fans of the former but disappoint those of the latter.

The way the game is presented makes it seem like its ideas are somewhat being kept to the sidelines in detriment of a more familiar formula, which is a shame as METAGAL could be a more enjoyable game if its own ideas were allowed to rise higher.

Featuring some fun and accessible challenges, the game also resorts to reusing the same elements a bit too much for its own good and in some of the areas, the gameplay is unnecessarily compromised by design flaws, which is a shame. Still, Pool Panic offers some good reasons to pick up and have a fun moments, more so on multiplayer.

Comic Workshop 2 is less of a follow-up and more of an update of its predecessor. Most aspects have been improved and there are some new tools which can be quite useful for those eager to create their own comics on the 3DS. The option to share images on Miiverse is also a welcome arrival.

The Full Motion Video experience of The Shapeshifting Detective stands its ground quite well on the Nintendo Switch. The game's environment is riddled with mystery and suspense and the capacity of the protagonist to transform into any character are obvious selling points. With more interactivity and a better structured plot, The Shapeshifting Detective could be a very recommended game but as it is, it's mostly an interesting experience with some involving elements.
