Donkey Kong County Tropical Freeze is an ode to the old platform games. Every single element from this genre has been pushed into the game from the developers. Maybe not properly a videogame, Dear Esther speaks directly to gamers' souls. It's a very intensive experience and, after playing it, it's very likely you will remember this game for a long, long time.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is a remastered version of one of the best 3D Sonic games released over the last fifteen years. Resolution, frame-rate and graphics are up to date and with several add-ons this game feels brilliant and very enjoyable, becoming a must have for every Sonic the Hedghehog fan.

Daniel Mullins has done it again! After Pony Island and The Hex, Inscryption is another strange and profoundly unique adventure that everyone should play. Pro Cycling Manager 2011 is a very solid game and is able to give the real feelings of a cycling season. It's not a perfect game but it's probably the best one from Cyanide so far.

Supported by a fresh graphic style, and by an unexpected complexity of the level design of its tracks, OlliOlli World is a brilliant platform that you should not ignore in any way.

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS is still great, but leaving from the Wii U to the less powerful 3DS has been rough. The new graphics are less shiny and you can’t share your new levels online. Despite that, you’ll have a very good time with the brand new challenge mode and with the simple but clever tutorials.

Thanks to its great editor, simple and fun gameplay, and various game modes, both online and offline, ModNation Racers proves to be a great addition to the PS3 catalogue. If you're a fan of the "Mario Kart" genre, you should definitely give it a look!

Burnout Paradise is back... again. After 10 years Criterion's masterpiece is still entertaining as hell and looks beautiful on the PS4.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses tries to evolve the classic formula changing the way you fight and manage your heroes. Doing so, the game has lost something both in consistency and integrity.

A gate that is willing to keep 26 years of videogame history. A proper museum dedicated to the PlayStation universe. An excellent platform rich of “wow” moments and built with love. Sleeping on Astro's Playroom should be considered a crime by the videogamers court.

The PS3 version of Child of Eden looks good, sounds great anche is really nice to play. The gameplay basics are also the same, but the general feeling is really different from the one we experienced playing using Kinect. The game is great, anyway. If you're looking for a unique videogame, don't miss this one!

With The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, Gearbox injects new life into one of the most addictive and brilliant digital worlds of 2009. New stories and missions, different vehicles, large maps and crazy characters can give Borderlands lovers a fair amount of playtime. Must buy for mercenaries, Crypt hunters and... claptraps!

Armored Brigade is a rich toy for all the grognard warmongers who want to tackle the ‘Cold War went sour’ scenario. No campaign and a barebones aesthetic department also suggest this game is intended for dedicated wargamers.

Modern Warfare II is not as courageous as the previous one nor as revolutionary but it is still a fun, galvanizing and filled in content war FPS, enriched by a technical realization of absolute value.

Grand Kingdom is a very deep tactical RPG, and it tries to bring new ideas to the genre too.

Although struggling to propose a convincing villain, Far Cry 6 offers a lot of gameplay innovations that make this chapter one of the most fun to play.

A great sequel, better than the original one with new features that make the experience extremely fun and addictive.

A porting that could be made with more care in terms of gameplay and graphics, despite this the game manages to still be fun.

Finding something truly original in these years is almost impossible. A Normal Lost Phone is unique and a great little experience which deals with some topical issues in a light and inspired way.

One of the most beloved Dreamcast franchises returns with fancy new HD graphics, the original OST and all the charm of its original gameplay. There are some problems with the audio balance and some stuttering when played from a fragmented hard drive, but although not perfect (and it has never been) this game is still a masterpiece.

Crash is not your typical every-day Burnout. It's just a simple and addicting arcade game that won't let you down until you sweat and bleed.

The new Nintendo mobile game is an installment of the Animal Crossing series. Pocket Camp is funny, engaging and faithful to the franchise. Crafting system simply works and microtransactions are not an issue. If you loved the old ones, maybe the beloved GameCube chapter, you will still love it.

PES 2013 fixes many problems of the previous game, but Konami's football needs a new engine to compete with FIFA 13. An old animation system and a lazy physics are problems that all the good ideas in this edition of the game couldn't overwhelm. PES 2013 is the best old-school football game to date.

The new combat system is smoother than in other Musou games and the good graphics turn this title into a must buy for every One Piece lover.

Black Desert Online is a sandbox MMO with a great action combat system, an incredibly powerful character editor to give shape to every fantasy of yours, and spectacular world filled with life.

The HD remake of Beyond Good and Evil is as good as the older version. The game is still awesome and deserves your love. If you are looking for a great 10/15 hours long adventure for few money, this is your choice.

Probably not good enough for the Hall of Fame, but this first PS4 outing is an excellent social-oriented update for the series.

Rogue Legacy was awesome on PC and it still rocks on the PlayStation consoles. The PS Vita version of the game has small frame rate issues, but the powerful handheld is the best platform for a game like this. Oh! And the Cross-Buy and Cross-Save features are simply perfect.

My Time at Portia is a social sim, an rpg, a craf-based adventure game. There are a lot of things to do and a mysterious plot to discover. This is a very ambitious, relaxing and “genuine” game. Everything is well refined and fun: with some constant polish and improvement it could become a must for all lovers of crafting games.

LUNA The Shadow Dust is a splendid first work by Lantern Studio, beautiful to look at and fun to play, simple in concept and well-kept in its creation, capable of entertaining and making itself loved even by the least passionate of puzzle games.

Far Cry Primal is an interesting variation of the popular Ubisoft franchise. The new ideas and gaming mechanics are fun and well-developed, but the close combat system could have been better. If you're looking for a nice adventure with a lot of exploration, crafting and animal taming, you'll enjoy this game.

Project X Zone 2 is like The Expendable: a huge cast of superstar that somehow is in the same place to kick asses. It's not important that there is a good excuse to link them all, the main thing is that they have to make a lot of noises, explosions and cool stuff. And Project X Zone 2 does all this in a very good way.

Endless Space 2 is a glorious (and graphically awesome) iteration of the tired 4X formula. There are some interesting innovations that can lead the genre a little further together with some quirks in the interface that can lead to frustration for the more advanced players.

Judgment isn’t perfect, it still has an unresponsive combat system and a small game area, but it’s like fresh air for the Yakuza’s veterans.

Who would have thought that Rabbids and Nintendo characters wold work so well together? Ubisoft has surprised us all by creating a fun, entertaining and not-too-simplified turn-based-tactics game that almost seems like it’s made in Kyoto. Well done!

Sakura Wars (2019) wants to refresh the franchise, while maintaining its core identity and narrative continuity. The rhythm and style of the story is perfect for a fan ofJapanese, anime-style productions and the characters, despite their tropes, let themselves be loved. The choice to simplify the battles so much is questionable, putting them practically in the background from every other point of view, but the Trust system, the stylish character design and the excellent dubbing manage to balance the accounts.

Soulstice finally brings a bit of Italy into the realm of hack 'n' slash, fully succeeding thanks to the excellent characterization of the game world and a layered and satisfying gameplay. Too bad for some problems with the room and an artistic sector not always up to par. It looks like one of the best surprises of the year.

Thanks to its action-packed adventure, great progression and fascinating visuals, Bastion can be surely defined as one of the best XBLAs out there. Don't miss it.

Though being a well-crafted game that will surely please fans of the series and genre, Resistance 3 fails to reach pure excellence due to some unattended promises and a far too classical concept that lacks any sort of innovation. It will guarantee hours in fun in both single player and multiplayer, but Insomniac could have surely done something more if its aim was to reach the top.

MotoGP 21 is the incarnation of the “less is more” creative philosophy. Milestone decided to direct every effort towards the race, improving the physics and the driving systems, making good use of every next-gen feature, including a brilliant PS5's DualSense implementation. This, however, gave birth to a very minimalistic and detailed experience, something that will surely appeal hardcore fans but might result redundant in the hands of more casual players.

The plot is slow-burning, the combat system may seem too simplified, the side quests are boring and repetitive. Even the stunning graphics are stained by some performance issues. But it is only by looking at the game as a whole that we can understand its true value. It is as if Ni No Kuni II were able to fill its own gaps thanks to the great variety of experiences that it has to offer to the gamers.

Considering the time it took Polyphony to complete what we believed would be a masterpiece, we really can't hide our disappointment. Although the number of cars, events and play modes on offer is surely impressive, Gran Turismo 5 is far from that level of perfection that the development team promised us during the last four years.

Our Darker Purpose has clearly been inspired by other games, but it offers a different enough takes on some mechanics to stand on its own feet and deliver a very compelling experience.

Although it might look like the result of despicable commercial strategy, GoldenEye 007 is actually an excellent game that deserves a place among the best products developed on a Nintendo platform during this year.

Tim Schafer did it again. Psychonauts 2 is another old-school 3D platform from the creator of Monkey Island and Brutal Legend, that delivers a funny and engaging adventure with plenty of unforgettable, crazy characters.

A good start for the Dark Pictures Anthology and another solid, entertaining horror experience for Supermassive Games.

Knights and Bikes is a co-op-focused action adventure with the core of a classic. The level design is smart and accessible to everyone, and the overall execution is just wonderful. Apart from its childish premises and some pacing issues, this game manages to tell a good, genuine story, like an old ‘80s movie.

Magic: Duels of the Planewalkers 2012 is a good game to enter into the Magic World and is probably the best Magic title since the older one. Pity for the lack of a storyline and some flexibility.

Vastly entertaining but highly derivative, Bethesda's latest effort perhaps isn't the behemoth of originality that some expected it to be, but still it is a game that every fan of stealth-oriented action/adventures shouldn't miss.

The Stanley Parable is an interactive comic sketch, smart and brilliant, that every videogames fan should try.

Resident Evil 3 is a well-made remake of one of the most loved chapters of the famous Capcom series. The Overwhelming presence of the Tyrant Nemesis is an added value but the game suffers from a slight lack of content.

A surprisingly good and solid FPS from Raven Software. Time travels and manipulations, Russian setting, tons of bullets and a little touch of horror make Singularity an entertaining trip... maybe just a little too short!

The Ascent is a fun and galvanizing action RPG in all its parts. The Neon Giant team has managed to create a living and vibrant cyberpunk universe and for such a small group in such a limited time this is a great achievement.

Combining all the elements that made L.A. Noire an absolute must buy, Reefer Madness proves to be a well crafted DLC that deserves full attention from any fan of the game.

Wytchwood is a magical game that engages the player in a delightfully ZEN experience.

Inquisition can be considered the real sequel to Origins. Bioware has returned to its roots with an epic story, strong characters and a deep lore.

Compared to Limbo, Inside does not propose any innovations and does not evolve the gameplay in any way. The new Playdead game, however, is a fascinating adventure to play, with bated breath, from start to finish thanks to the wonderful setting full of mystery.

The Annihilation Pack is a very good DLC created for Call of Duty: Black Ops. The lack of interactive elements in the new levels is a step backward for this game (remember the zip-lines in Kowloon or the elevators in Hotel or the deadly turrets in Berlin Wall?). Anyway, the DLC is a great addiction for most of the hardcore Call of Duty supporters.

Rocket League is fun and addictive just like the good, old multiplayer games thanks to a great gameplay with simple mechanics. Hours of fun await you. A must have.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a great new beginning for the saga. The newbies and the curious can easily start from this chapter, and then recover the previous ones. To veterans and nostalgics, frightened by the new features introduced in Like a Dragon, we can only make a plea: give it a chance and you won't regret it.

The final impression is quite positive, prizing an offer that is able to take its place in the adventures' market and not only for the brand itself. Guybrus & Co. are just more great stuff on a great game anyway.

Rage 2 sticks to its own nature of an open world sandbox game, offering a short plot but at the same time an incredible, genuine quality of action.

Three of the best action games of the past generation in one, shiny package, with additional Trophies and 3D support... what else could you ask for?

Eastward is a marvelous action-adventure game designed in 16-bit pixel-art and set in a future and collapsed cyberpunk world. You play as Sam and John, two characters linked by a mysterious bound that decide to travel around the world to solve the strange things happening in the underworld. The art style is clearly inspired by 16-bit jRPGs and animation of the 90s. The adventure is full of smart puzzles to solve using the powers of the two friends, and will keep you busy and entertained for several hours.

Prototype 2 is fun, brutal and visceral. A certain lack of variety and a not-so-smart camera are the only problems with a product that all action game fans will love.

Cities: Skyline is the game SimCity should have been: a great game and a greater base for modders.
