Rage 2 shines in its gunfights, driving sequences, and from the fun perks and upgrades that you can use. The open world is an invitation to exploration but still sometimes feels a bit empty.

If narratively shallow yet entertaining movies are popcorn flicks, Rage 2 is the ultimate popcorn game, and that’s okay. At no point during my 15 hours running rampant around its post-apocalyptic wasteland did I feel the need to know more about a character’s subplot, or question the antagonist’s motives. I was too caught up in the spectacle of carnage to care.

RAGE 2's unique visual style and genuinely fun gameplay mechanics ultimately outweigh a bit uninspired mission design, a disappointing story and at times flawed technical execution. If you can live with that, you'll absolutely have fun.

The satisfying action and relentless chaos of Rage 2 peppers a formulaic open world with thrills.

Rage 2 is a victim of a wave of technical issues and painfully average story but still manages to be one of the most fun FPS you can encounter and can provide you with your adrenaline shot for the day if needed.

Rage 2 sadly epitomises everything that’s stale about the gaming market today, and while it’s by no means a bad game, it’s just one that should have released years ago, if at all.

The outside looks good, but the moment you get close enough to interact with anything, it never ceases to reveal just how shallow it is. The missions, the few that actually exist, end the same way and are quite frequently unimpressive, the wasteland looks great but is boring to traverse and explore, and the few things that are good, like the combat, are mired with systems that are either a hassle to get access to or a hassle to deal with. It’s been a while since I have been genuinely disappointed with a game in almost every way. I don’t like this feeling. And neither will you.

ForIt's like every other ID software game, you have to be in it for the combat. I rate it an 8/10 but put 10/10 to counter balance a bit. For some background i am typically a fan of most fps games like far cry as well as doom and Wolfenstein. It feels just like the previous rage but better in every way which is exactly what i was hoping for. The game runs perfect on PS4 and i haven't had a single issue so far. If you have similar tastes in games to what i have mentioned i would highly recommend picking up the game. Expand

The progression is fast and smooth, game is surprisingly intuitive, the superpowers motive to get to next quest. Combat is such a rush, I was craving to get to next fight. If you have played Fallout, you will recognize Bethesda universe, but shooting is 10/10 here. I got mildly annoyed with vehicles, but overall I will give this game 10 point, to level it up. Rage 2 deserves better, i think it is getting less favorable ratings because F76 failed so bad and everyone is hating on Bethesda now. Expand

The Good - Gunplay is nice and smooth, the visuals are good and there doesn't seem to be many bugs.

The Bad - The gameplay is generic, the missions have no depth its just the same thing over and over without any increased challenge. The game world is rather small and lifeless. There are a lot of cut and paste areas in the world that have nothing to do, empty buildings, lifeless open fields etc and nothing to discover. There are next to zero random events in the open world. The player powers are old, one is a double jump power, wow, that's never been done in an FPS before. Overall the game is poor for a 2019 release. The campaign takes about 8-10 hours, which is a joke for a AAA priced game. Wait for a mega sale when its $10-$15.

This is no game that cares for its story, it's only used as an excuse for the gameplay, so one just has to accept that. HOWEVER, I played this game on my base PS4, and HOLY CRAP! I have never had a game that made me think that first, the sticks on my controller were broken, then, that my AV receiver was somehow causing a latency so it had me redone my cable management to plug my ps4 directly to my tv, and then, had my thinking that my TV had broken and was no longer supporting game mode. And why ? As it turns out, this game has not been optimised for the base ps4 so there is a horrible input lag that causes a weird acceleration and buggy dead zone, making precise aiming nealy impossible, which is just unacceptable for a fast shooter like this. It made me turn on the aim assist , that's how bad it was. That is the reason alone i gave this game a 4, otherwise i would have given it a solid 7. So heads up when buying this game for the base ps4 Expand
