My complaints stem from the control system. It's unresponsive, causing timing delays that require you to choose your actions well before they actually appear onscreen making this more of a game of strategy than reflex.

From level to level you won't find much variety in the gameplay. Like the soup at a buffet there's not much spice to it - and there's no way you can add any after the fact.

The various gameplay elements are just too shallow to hold your interest. You only have one button for combat and once you learn how to sneak around guards you've pretty much aced the game.

It's a very challenging game that is not recommended for the casual gamer - unless you want a real bad beating. Don't knock it, it's good for you.

As it is, the AI puts on a good show but it doesn't react quite the same when you get right in its face when it loses.

It's almost perfect. Technically it's solid and virtually bug-free but still manages to ooze with personality and imagination. This is definitely going to be a contender for Game of the Year.

Studio Gigante's take on Wrestlemania is fraught with bugs, glitches and options that appear in the manual but aren't anywhere to be found in the game itself (auto targetting system).

It's loaded with modes and is a relatively deep game for a racer. You can still do a lot of tricks with it but overall the racing experience is hampered by its mechanical shortcomings.

Perhaps more of these flaws will be addressed and fixed in the upcoming patches but I would wait another month or so to see what the developers have come up with before I waste my time with such a sloppy game. [5/5/05]

Blending melee combat with first-person shooting may have been done before but it's never been done like this... It features a deep control system that once learned, will take you places that the original Unreal Championship could only dream of.

It will sharpen your skills if you're a novice but aficionados will likely shake their heads at some of the obvious flaws.

The end result is a game that features the 3Ds - less depth, less detail and less difficulty.

A scaled-down version of "MLB 2006" for the PS2. Some might even call it inferior and they would be right since it's missing a few modes, options and details.

Jade Empire plays like an epic Chinese movie. Kung Fu is blended with ancient Chinese legends for a game that is unpredictable and captivating. It's just as amazing to watch as it is to play.

Yourself!Fitness takes all the fun out of your PS2 as it tries to get you into shape. Hey, most of us gamers are in shape - the shape of the capital letter "O" - or at the very least, the small letter "b." So leave us the hell alone.

If you're a fan of YGO then nothing I say will dissuade you from getting this game, and in a way I do feel somewhat jealous that I can't get excited about this game as some kids obviously will.

The gameplay and control is what makes Midnight club, Midnight Club. It's an arcade racer at heart, with easy to handle cars, and really good controls. (that you can completely remap to your liking in the options menu, allowing for manual shifting as well) Even when your blazing at super high speeds, you still feel like you're in control.

Mr. Driller and Mr. Driller 2 would have made great unlockable mini -games but like Kramer, George and Elaine, it's just not good enough to make it on its own.

It's a scream of a good time and even though it's not perfect, it manages to entertain almost every step of the way.

Everyone will be simply fascinated by this game but not everyone will feel compelled to take on the challenge to complete it.

Sure the babe on the cover is good looking, but for my money I'll buy a Penthouse if that's all I'm looking for. It's less expensive and I have a damn good idea of what I'm getting.

It's inventive, funny, engaging and somewhat original although I think the developers should have stayed true to Prohias' vision.

This ain't no "Resident Evil" or "Silent Hill" but it has its appeal. Where I think it goes wrong is with the story which just kind of falls to pieces later in the game.

First to Fight is very heavily militarily themed. It's almost too stuffy. This is one serious, no-nonsense game. Personally I like a little nonsense as it tends to make things seem more realistic.

Provides a great balance of gameplay features with an easy-to-use interface and realistic situations. I wouldn't be surprised if this game was being used in training sessions for special forces recruits.

An intriguing world steeped in mystery with plenty of action and unanswered questions. If anything, this game will create a population of rabid gamers waiting impatiently for the release of the sequel.

Would have been a great game if the co-op system weren't so damn buggy. It's a good idea but its execution is spotty.

Succeeds because it's able to exploit our primal fears of the unknown. Even when the unknown becomes the known the amazing graphics breath life into these demonic enemies so that their very presence unlocks new facets of fear. It's what makes this game different from a shooting gallery.

The only real complaint that I have is that there are no voiceovers. The game is relatively mute. Fortunately the personality of the characters is able to transcend this limitation but the game is far from silent as it utilizes the incredibly rich, John Williams scores for theme and background music in addition to all of the sound effects from the Lucas library.

Ultimately the game fails at almost every attempt including faulty gameplay mechanics, poor camera angles and a really boring story.

While I admit this is undoubtedly the best version so far, it's far from original. It's built on the foundation of past games and smells suspiciously of a "best of."

A darn good game that covers the events in the first three Star Wars prequels - as they might have taken place in a Lego universe.

The animation is well done and the various blows look like they actually have some impact but since nothing changes from point A to point Z, it won't matter after awhile.

The best point-and-click adventure game available on the Xbox. Rabid Myst fans will want to play this on the PC but this is such a good port that, other than improved visuals, you'll be experiencing the Ages of Myst as they were intended to be explored.

If you have the option I would strongly suggest getting either the Xbox or the PC version. This game was designed for a more powerful system and while the PS2 certainly tries its best, Full Spectrum Warrior isn't all that it can be.

The entire presentation is flat and uninspired. With the exception of color, this game looks like it was destined for a watch.

I can't say enough about the graphics. I never knew there were so many shades of black. Even though much of the game is played in the shadows there is no shortage of detail.

In its defense, the enemy AI is more intelligent than ones in your average shooter. If they were any more intelligent they would pick up and find a better game to play in. I advise you to do likewise.

EWV is not half bad but guess what the other half is? Not good!

It will take some time to reach a level of Zen with the control system. It takes plenty of mindfulness to reach a state of mindlessness. Once the controls become second nature Iron Phoenix comes to life.

Being a Rayman fans it's frustrating to play a game that's so close to the original but yet so far away. Since it doesn't use the touch screen in any innovative ways it really doesn't make much sense for this game to be on this system.

With tons of replay value and excellent online play, Head-On is highly recommended for all gamers that want to exercise their right to pursue happiness in the form of destruction.

I can't say this is the best game ever made but as far as the arcade racing genre is concerned it would be difficult to imagine how to improve on it.

From the graphics to the tight controls and the 50-plus song titles, Underground 2 Remix is hands down the most powerful game ever displayed on a handheld. The fact that it so closely resembles the PS2 version is not just impressive but disappointing. Most of us have already played this game to death.

It is the very first 3D Spider-Man game on a handheld system and it looks amazing. It looks even better on the PSP due to the small screen. Gone is the ape-like out of disproportionate Spider-Man from the console game sequel and in it's place is that high gloss crisp well put together model from the original.

With virtually no load times this game rivals some of the best Xbox games. The character models are excellent and really excel at instilling a sense of awe at the gargantuan proportions of some of the enemies and Gods.

Unfortunately the gameplay experience also feels fabricated. Glitches and slowdown expose this "matrix" for what it really is: a shoddy attempt at an MMORPG.

If real Fords performed the way they do in Ford Racing 3 we'd all be driving Toyotas.

The story is lame, the gameplay is repetitive and the entire control system is compromised in one way or another. Let the developers fix their mistakes before you throw any money in their direction. Don't even rent this one.

Everything just feels so unbelievably right. The control you have over your car is so spot-on that you can literally "feel" it when you nail a drift just right or when you’re careening down a straightaway at speeds of nearly 200 MPH.

Even at twenty bucks, which turns out to be two bucks a game, there are games that I wouldn't ever consider putting eight quarters into if they were in an airport arcade and I had a ten-hour layover. I would just opt for a nap instead.

A visual, sonic and intellectual treat. It's engrossing and highly addictive. It may not be the sole reason to own a PSP but it certainly hints at great things to come.

The main, single player story mode may be the biggest disappointment in TimeSplitters: Future Perfect but it makes a decent training mode for the variety of other fun offline and online modes.

What game would include a version of Pong as part of its compilation? That has to tell you something. I can live with Breakout - but Pong? That's digging to the bottom of the barrel.

The whole package is a little overwhelming. The sleek lines of the PSP, the drop dead gorgeous visuals and the control.....ah, the control. While the analog stick placement is a little low for my liking, once you get used to it - and I mean, entirely for every game - the PSP handles like a Dual Shock with a screen.

No two games play alike thanks to the incredible AI who act like real human enemies. They also die like real humans, meaning that they aren't given an unfair advantage. This is war.

Act of War beautfiully bridges the gap between action and strategy and provides an all out assault of the senses thanks to the incredble level of visual detail, intuitive control and an aural symphony comprised of the sounds of destruction.

Much more than a novelty. It combines action and puzzles and requires skillful manipulation as you traverse all kinds of challenging terrain inside a transparent sphere.

With elements of RPG, puzzles, combat and platforming there is not one consistently solid genre on which to base this game. Worse than that, the pace of the game is in low gear from start to finish.

Takes the series in a new direction and while it's not exactly perfect steps have been taken to compensate for some of its shortcomings. Props to Ubisoft for taking a chance.

It seems to me that Phantom Dust was never intended to be released as a budget title. The production values are just too high. Don't hesitate to take advantage of this game; some company's loss is your gain.

Best described as "Resident Evil 4"-Lite. It doesn't have the epic quality of the popular Capcom series but for a tight, solid, horror-survival game you could certainly do a lot worse.

Regardless of whether I was playing the first or eighth game of the series, I found myself so engrossed by the gameplay that it didn't matter if the graphics were eight or a million bits.

The latest game is entitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Melee and like the last two games, threatens to send the Turtles back into hibernation or wherever the hell they went last time.

A watered down puzzle/platformer that has little in common beyond the appearance of Mario's dino buddy.

A really uninspired racing game. It seems to be aimed at kids as young as a fetus with the exception of the sudden increase in difficulty that even gave me a headache. And not because it was challenging but because it's annoyingly difficult due to the lack of control.

Some may consider this a novelty but the gameplay is really tightly aligned with the bongo drums. To play it without the drums would be like going to a 3D movie without the 3D glasses.

An interesting strategy game that is best suited for beginners and intermediate players. It has some intricate micromanagement elements but overall it's a relatively easy game to learn and play.

A classic comic book come to life... With a great story, excellent controls, graphics and voiceovers you are certain to get your money's worth out of this game.

The controls are responsive and the animation has been smoothed out with motion-captured animations and virtually seamless transitions. The Xbox version is much better looking than the PS2 although there are some traces of slowdown, flicker and online lag.

Mortyr 2 is exactly what you would expect to find in a litter box. It's kind of dried out so it doesn't stink too bad, and it's clumped with the litter so it doesn't look that bad either but let's make it clear that it's still a piece of crap.

Those hardcore gamers and DMC fans looking for an incredible challenge will be rewarded beyond their expectations... DMC 3 is loaded with action, depth and replay value - all presented with some of the best production values ever seen on the PS2.

If you're looking to spend more than 20 hours interacting with virtual characters and solving puzzles and mysteries than you too will want The Moment of Silence.

You'll always be busy and it can be a lot of fun if you don't take it too seriously - just like your real life which you waste playing computer games.

The downside to the game is that underneath all the Star Wars veneer, the gameplay is incredibly unoriginal.

Scrapland has virtually everything that you could wish for in a game although a little more gameplay variety would be welcome. It's loaded with humor, action, great graphics, interesting characters and a kicking soundtrack.

The good news is that Mortal Kombat: Deception is still a great without the online modes. It's intense, frenetic, strategic, violent and bloody.

While the punches lack the power experienced in last years game, EA makes up for it with its innovative total control configuration.

What is missing from PsychoToxic is soul. It's not a unique game by any standards. It's a regular shooter with average graphics and sounds.

From the graphics to the gameplay mechanics everything runs smoothly and precisely like a Swiss-made clock. The controls are tight, the animation is fluid and the gameplay is extremely varied for a fighting game. It's a winner.

The developers and movie studios should get together on these kinds of projects. The games always get the crappy end of the stick.

Unfortunately the accuracy of the weapons is low. The controls are loose and sometime they don't even register a command. Very sloppy.

I hereby decree Dredd vs. Death to be an inferior product. My ruling is that the game should be executed.

It combined puzzles and action adventure with the platforming for an experience that was not only challenging but displayed depth and variety - and it doesn't feel old-school.

It may have a sophisticated graphics engine and a good assortment of aircraft but for a game that should be presented in 3D, it falls flat.

Sure it may be "the" racing game but it's still "just" a racing game. It doesn't cover any new ground - literally.

The levels are varied and interesting; each one more fascinating than the next. The lighting effects, particle effects and sound effects are spectacular and even rival that of the Xbox version.

It's got flaws but more than that it's just not very good. Had this game come along five years ago things might be different but as it is this is just a convoluted arcade-style ball game using soccer as a backdrop.

Playing ball was never so personal. With an incredible amount of slider options you can customize the gameplay to accommodate any style of player. You can go from arcade to sim and all points in between.

The sounds of vehicles, guns and explosions are crisp and loud, perfectly suited for a game of this caliber (pun intended).

I was pleasantly surprised at how good Project: Snowblind turned out to be. It shows what you can do with the shooter premise if you have just the right amount of imagination and talented programmers to realize that vision.

Fails on so many levels. It looks bad, the control system suffers from lag and ineffective weapon designs, the AI is incredibly unbalanced and the missions are a repetitive mix of elements.

There's no good reason on God's gray earth why anyone would want to play this street racing game when there are so many good ones available.

The environments are flaccid, the gameplay tepid and the overall product is just plain limp.

There's nothing about Tenchu: Fatal Shadows that hasn't been explored in previous versions.

With only 200 new cards out of 1000 that means that only 20-per-cent of the content can be considered new and if you take into account the structure of the gameplay, which is unchanged, that percentage will actually be quite lower than my generous 20.

For $19.99 I can see fans of the original source material or the movie losing themselves in that reality for awhile. Until then you're ordered to either rent it or ignore it altogether. Your call.
