Poker fans will lap this up, and a few non-poker fans like myself will become converts simply due to the fact that the game explains things so clearly. As much as the laws of logic say that I shouldn't be saying this, World Championship Poker is a highly addictive game.
-
It falters in the single-player game just a bit, but there’s enough here to satisfy veteran poker players and hook newcomers in with a wide variety of card games, mini-games and a really great multiplayer mode.
-
Whether or not you enjoy the game's single-player modes, however, will depend on your ability to forgive the design flaws that make it nearly impossible to establish reads and tells against CPU opponents.
-
netjakDeluxe Series is no more than baby steps beyond its predecessor, and is only recommended on the theory that the card games selected for the package lend themselves better to a portable format than the console versions.
-
Cheat Code CentralIt will sharpen your skills if you're a novice but aficionados will likely shake their heads at some of the obvious flaws.
-
Nintendo PowerThe controls are a little slow to respond, and the computer-controlled characters' repeated phrases lose their humor after a while, but the game is a solid play nontheless. [June 2005, p.97]
-
If you really must have your poker in video game form, several online gambling sites offer free poker games for users to test out. These are both terrific and cheaper alternatives to this overpriced title.
