With Evolution's pedigree in mind this is not the racer every PS4-fan was hoping for. The challenge system provides a good amount of fun and motivation but in terms of general content, it leaves a lot to be desired.

Story and humor are less entertaining than in the last years, the mechanics are a mix of well known elements on one side and entertaining new ones on the other. And while the trap masters are little more than overpriced doorkeepers, the trapping concept is cool and technically very well presented.

It could have been a decent game, if the fighting system would be more refined, if the AI would react better. Like this it is little more than a tech demo to show the immense power of CryEngine 3. And as this, it is very powerful.

The activities are interestingly connected, but balancing problems and finicky controls make this platform puzzler a frustrating encounter.

If there is one aspect of modern stealth action it would be the pacing. Sometimes you feel like a hyperactive squirrel taking or killing everything that crosses your path. Styx is different: He demands thoughtful planning and that you take your time. And if you do that you’ll get a challenging and experience that is engrossingly different, albeit far from being perfect.

It shows a lot of potential but at the latest when you get to the grinding stage (which is fairly early), you’ll find that the mechanics can’t back up all the potential there might be.

Minimum’s Titan mode feels fresh. The skirmishes based on protecting the giant deliver great dynamics on the battle field. Which makes it even worse that Minimum is plagued by poor balancing, bugs and connection problems.

If you have the right group accompanying you, the amount of fun found in the repetitive stages is surprisingly high. Arrowhead delivers a solid Gauntlet experience that stays true to the old (and sometimes not very well aged) formula while adding a few modern sprinkles.

Natural Doctrine shows a lot of potential – mainly thanks to the complex battle system with its focus on cooperation and positioning. But the game design (or more so: lack of) leads to a lot of frustrating moments and useless grind.

You’ll encounter tactical and AI issues, but nonetheless Ancient Space delivers challenging strategy where each and every ship you command is important.

It is one of the most entertaining adventures the sleuth stars in. Nonetheless technically the episodes are rough around the edges – even more so on the PS4.

The concept is interesting, the story is remarkably light-hearted and quirky. But technical issues and control problems make the trip to a accurately remodeled Akihabara a chore.

At first it may remind you of the latest Telltale adventures. But in the end this mystery thriller is more like an interactive David Lynch movie to which Quentin Tarantino and Abel Ferrara wrote the script. And yes: It is fun to play – even with the spot-on Kinect controls.

A lot in Middle Earth is reminiscent of other games: Fight like Batman, sneak like Ezio and his brethren, explore the world like in Red Dead Redemption. What sets Shadow of Mordor apart is the Nemesis system that works surprisingly well – even though it lacks drama in the end.

Pure courage: Matt Gilgenbach confronts his fears publicly, he talks about his disease very openly. But as an interactive experience this is rather superficial.

This is not about horror. This is not about terror. This is about exploration and experiencing one of the most beautiful worlds I have seen in a game so far. Period. Unfortunately you feel too safe and even though the visuals are exceptional the gameplay is rather conventional.

What a monster! When it comes to content this is the mobile beat-em-up to get. A solid solo campaign is nowhere to be seen, but with all its modes, unlockables and varied gameplay it is hard to resist the 50+ fighters.

They’re on a roll: The French team from Amplitude delivers again. In the endgame they could deliver more and more varied options as well as convincing diplomacy. But, nonetheless, this is turn based strategy you can lose yourself in.

On the pitch this is soccer at its finest, even though the defense seems to be weakened. But off the pitch you get a patchwork of more or less untouched game modes, half-hearted emotions and inconsistent atmosphere that favors the English Premier League.

Regarding the toybox, the progress is evident and worth every penny – especially with the wide range of readied community content. But when it comes to pure gaming content you not only get less than before out of the box, missions play out too similar too often.
