Another great installment in the Borderlands franchise, the Pre Sequel takes things to the next level with a fantastic story, great characters and new innovative gameplay, which will make you jump for joy...Quite literally.

The more time you spend with The Pre-Sequel!, the easier it is for you to notice important changes: a completely new combat system, cool new characters, a complex story, even funnier quests and more of everyone's favorite - Claptrap! Fans of Borderlands 2 will find tons of goodies wrapped in a fresh new package and spend dozens of hours simply having fun.

Even though this is not the “real” continuation of the beloved shoot-and-loot-series and still shows some elements that might have been bugging you before, you’ll get plenty of hours of fun out of it.

A pre-sequel for those who are predisposed to Borderlands and can't wait for a full sequel.

If Borderlands: the pre Sequel were a DLC that does not bear its name, it still is a very pleasant game with new features like low gravity, oxygen to look after, jetpacks and freeze guns. Add a crazy and very funny playable Clap-Trap and you've got quite a nice game.

Like Borderlands 2, The Pre-Sequel often feels like a fairly safe sequel, but the gimmicks Gearbox chose to use this time around actually worked surprisingly well, far better than I had originally anticipated.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is an unpolished, uninspired adventure where fun can be had with friends, but that time could be better spent elsewhere.

It seems like I'll get a few hundred hours out of it, because, you know, guns.
Besides, I am a Cyborg with a Laser outta Ghost Busters, and when I reload,it explodes on my enemies. I win.

If you actually spend time and do other things than the main story missions, you get a lot more of the creativity that 2K has put into the game. And a lot of it is great and humorous. The fact that it is VERY 'Aussie' is fun, as it makes an opportunity to be ironic about something else. But most of this is found in the optional parts of the game. Which is good, as it doesn't affect the main storyline, which makes a lot of things clearer, but doesn't explain why the plot twist happened in the first place, what the morale of those causing it is. These are questions that are maybe already told in the 2nd game, or via the ECHO logs, but that I've forgotten or missed. It would still be a nice to get the other perspective as well. But at least you get an ENTIRE game with Jack being the boss, one of the best villains (well, 'hero' during this game) in the last couple of years. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel manages to tell the missing part of the story between 1 and 2 in a very good way and good enough to make you sympathetic with Jack and why Borderlands 2's story is how it is. And FINALLY your controllable character is actually a part of many of the dialogues happening throughout the game, with additional punch-lines/monologues.

The gameplay is the same as Borderlands 2, but does a very good job at making the gravity of the moon and the oxygen/O2 Kits a BIG part of the game and not just a one time gimmick. There are very few games that have managed to put in things like these on an already existing game, but 2K has done it well. Butt stomping enemies and doing platforming while combining the extra boost given by using oxygen and butt stomping, was used a lot during my playthrough of the game.

You never get flooded with quests, like you get in Borderlands 2 and most of the maps are decently sized so that getting to places usually didn't take that long. Throughout the 24 hours I spent doing almost every quest, my experience of the game has totally justified the pricetag. The story, gameplay and loads of weapons and loot makes up for one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year.

Picking the correct class seems very important in the game, as it might make or break your enjoyment of the gameplay. The difficulty of the start and endgame seems to vary on which class you pick, some start off with very powerful traits and some start off slow but get very powerful at the end.

Now to how 'this game should've been DLC'. No, it should not have been. 20+ hours for a DLC? Are you nuts? We are then going into expansion territory, which is more or less exclusively in MMORPGs and a thing of the past. The only part that could have changed is the price tag. But the difference between Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel is enough to keep the price tag up. I have enjoyed Borderlands The Pre-Sequel more than what I have with Borderlands 2 and all its DLC. If you're judging the game due to its price, then you have nothing to say here.

This is lazy game development where they label and price a game expansion at full price. The only thing added to the game is poorly done and horribly annoying platforming. Outsource game development to a secondary studio and grab the cash. The kick in the nads of the Deadlift boss just adds to the fun. Thanks for the most annoying game experience of the year. Expand

But that's about it. The story lacks any depth , the developers really over hyped the amount of guns you'll find and actually use, there is very little difference in the levels, and it feels EXTREMELY short. In short its a good game, the things that are actually new work well, it just doesn't have the good quality and quantity that Borderlands 2 had. Expand

Being a veteran BL fan (I put nearly 500 hours into BL2 alone), I can say that I was wholly disappointed with this title.

    First, the humor.
Being a veteran BL fan (I put nearly 500 hours into BL2 alone), I can say that I was wholly disappointed with this title.

First, the humor. It was dry, bland, and it felt like it was written by Australians, for Australians. Doesn't 2K Australia understand that people from all around the world are buying this game and might not get Aussie humor? The accents grated on my nerves a little bit, but it got better as you went along.

The character depth just wasn't there, plus characters from BL 1 and 2 were reused with about 25% of their personalities we all know and love intact. The seemingly arbitrary homosexual references really pissed me off. Not that I have anything against LGBT people, but I find it very insulting that the writers had to shoehorn another gay character in there and wave it in my face. I mean, Springs, which I think was one of the few more charming characters, had several dialogue sequences in which the main subject being that she was a lesbian. Great, you're a woman that likes other women. So what? I couldn't care less. If a character's defining trait is their sexual orientation, then you're a horrible writer.

The lack of extra content was astounding. I bought the season pass, thinking that the game would redeem itself with a DLC gem. I was mistaken. The first DLC that queued in my Steam download tab was another arena map. There was already an arena map in the main game and then you make a DLC that is just another one? Boring, absolutely boring.

I didn't have a big problem with the maps, because what do you really expect? It was on a moon, you can't really get too creative with that.

The length of the story is hard to gauge because I'm the type that completes all available side quests before moving on with the main story. I think it took me maybe 20 hours to complete the entire game and 90%+ of the side quests.

Buy it on sale if you absolutely have to try it. I uninstalled it and haven't looked back.

Apart from the technical issues, i just hated the constant jumping challenges, i don't enjoy the gravity and the lack of oxygen makes me nervous to the point i can't chill and enjoy the scenery...
Such an awesome story and i can't enjoy it it's a pity, totally hated it.
