    The Worst game ever made by From Software, the details lack polishing, a step backward in all aspects compared to the previous work.
    If you want play a From Software's game, Elden Ring is the least worthwhile work to play.

    If this game actually ran properly I’d give it a mega high score, but unfortunately it just doesn’t run very well on the series x, I returned it as was told it runs better on the PS5, which oddly enough I does, on the series x the frame rate was very very up and down for me, I wouldn’t say unplayable, but close, at the moment I’ll give it a 5, if they sort the frame rate out and lock it atIf this game actually ran properly I’d give it a mega high score, but unfortunately it just doesn’t run very well on the series x, I returned it as was told it runs better on the PS5, which oddly enough I does, on the series x the frame rate was very very up and down for me, I wouldn’t say unplayable, but close, at the moment I’ll give it a 5, if they sort the frame rate out and lock it at 60fps 1440p or 1800p or some thing like that I’d score the game very highly, as it is an absolutely fabulous game from what I’ve seen, but in a game which is so highly dependent on skill and timing you just can’t have these major dips in frames, sorry if I piss people off as it’s not my intention but it does seem to run a lot better on the PS5 and the dips in frame rate are no we’re near as noticeable or constant, I thought PC would be the way to go but I also avoided that as a friend got it, who has a very very good pc RTX3090, I9, 32GB top end gaming ram etc… and said it runs absolutely terribly far worst then the consoles even, hopefully all this can be rectified with patch’s but at the moment I can’t recommend this for the series x or the pc.… Expand

    This is literally everything a videogame should ever strive to be. Masterfully created world with great lore, the most accessibility on any FromSoftware game to date, awesome boss fights and seemingly never ending content. The last time I felt like a game was so much worth the asking price was in 2017 with Persona 5. Elden Ring is one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in general andThis is literally everything a videogame should ever strive to be.     A difficult game to rate for various reasons. Im enjoying the game but getting bored with it at the same time. A 10/10 would mean the game is 100% perfect and there is no areas that need improvement. I disagree with that, a lot needs to be improved.

    I was enjoying the game for the first 30 or so hours, now I honestly do see why the reviews are so mixed. The game is good, don’t get me wrong, but I feel it’s just a bit too cheap. Everything attacks so fast, there’s no breaks to get in a shot without taking damage, or to heal. Everything one shots you even when you’re leveled up, it’s just not as good as the other from soft games.     Unable to connect to servers. Game is missing half its features so From Software gets half the score they would have got. I will change my review based off the speed in which the issue is fixed. I was super excited for this game now I am pretty let down.

    I am not sure what the story. Every quest is abstract and there is no quest log.

    The graphics are very dated, but aesthetically, the game looks nice. Gameplay/controls are janky. World is big, pretty, and shallow. I am not sure why people are calling it alive when it doesn't do anything new. It feels like Dragon Age Inquisition without the storyline. Online co-op sucks. The    I am not sure what the story.     Lack of content. FROMSOFTWARE has managed to "Call of Duty" -ify dark souls. It's rinse and repeat. Take out the open world and you have dark souls. Open world fails in a game that was originally designed to be a linear gameplay. I wish they took notes from Breath Of The Wild and saw what did not work.

    If, like me, you have played this series since Demon's Souls, you will realise Elden Ring is Dark Souls 4. Or Demon's Souls 2 - It doesn't really matter at this point.

    Other than the *slightly* more open world structure (the 'Souls series was always somewhat open in structure) and Torrent the goathorse, everything is exactly the same as all the previous games, including elements from Bloodborne and Sekiro.

    Same player classes and animations?
    Same enemy design, including enemy types/classes?
    Same pseudo-mediaeval world, with lonely atmosphere?
    Same dead-eyed, hollow-voiced NPCs?
    Same controls and combat system?
    Same telling of the opaque story and world lore through item descriptions?
    Same, boring, grindy progression system?
    Same die-and-die-again repetitive gameplay?
    Enroaching feeling that you are wasting your life playing updates to the same game released well over a decade ago?

    'Yes' to all of the above.

    Mashing together your previous 4 games and adding a horse is in no way innovative or good, by any metric. This is one of the laziest 'masterpieces' I have ever seen.

    It used to be fun, but its just the same bland thing over and over again.

    I tried it and found it impossible. The fighting is clunky and I just couldn't find a way to kill anything. Most things that attack you insta kill you. Its just a really nice fighting game with a nice character creation. Just not one of those go to games you can play over and over again. This game is for those gamers that love a challenge, and sure enough get it. But, this game is just wayI tried it and found it impossible.     c) the can’t program interactions with the bosses with the environment well and limited environmental destruction so they have to lock you in the room with every boss so you ‘can’t escape’ but realistically it’s because they can’t program these creatures to interact with the world C) Making the game a complete grind to level up “to make the game difficult and rewarding” - nah bollocks - it’s just because the game is much more shallow than it advertised and so it makes pointless grinding and one hit kill bosses you have to flawlessly fight again and again just to pad out this lifeless game. I mean seriously? How do these giant monsters survive underground in a cave etc with no food - it makes zero sense.. It’s a pretty open world game where there’s no point to anything and nothing you do changes anything - it’s just a game for people who like collecting herbs and leveling up for hours and don’t care much the story    … Expand

    I’m 10 hours in and thus far it has been bigger and more refined souls. The bosses are as interesting and fun to fight as ever and overall I have run into no flaws whilst playing on Xbox. Truly a 10/10 with there being no noticeable flaws thus far.

    My recommendation unless you are a top 30% skilled gammer. Save your money and play cyber punk or assassins creed. Both of those games are amazing. Elden Ring was a big waist of money for me. It may run well, look good, but critics do not give enough warning on how unapproachable this game is for the vast majority of average skilled gamers. Clearly the critic rating system for informing average gamer purchases is flawed. Look at the user scores on these games from now on!    … Expand

Now i have 4 less hours on my save file, and all of my items i just got are gone. Graphics are abysmal, animations are copy and pasted from previous souls games, the freaking plant life doesn’t even move when you walk through it. Some say it’s not a big deal but it’s 2022 and running on a 500 dollar console, that’s just pure laziness and unacceptable. Glitchy, broken game. Glad GameStop gives 48 hours to return for full credit. Also selling this mini fridge of a console and getting a second ps5 for the house. Halo + this travesty has completely sucked all hope I have for this failure of a console out of me.… Expand

    If your tv doesn't have VRR on your tv, don't take this game!
    The frame rate is so catastrophic and drops so often from 60fps to 35fps that you will miss Blight Town on xbox 360.
    It makes the game unplayable and gives me a headache. This game has clearly not been optimized on the Xbox Serie X yet more powerful than the ps5. This is really dirty work on the part of from software. As    If your tv doesn't have VRR on your tv, don't take this game!

    Dodge mechanics are pretty clunky and don't seem to work quite right.. Seems like your character's hit box is larger than Nancy Pelosi's slush fund. Clipping seems to guarantee that the enemies kill you through walls and rocks and other crap, but you never seem to go through them. I presume it's some intentional feature to create a faux sense of challenge to the game. The alternative is that the programmers lack the technical wherewithal to pull of what they're striving for. Now that I think on that though it's probably the latter with the number of bugs this game has. Frame rate drops are pretty harsh and consistently occur on boss encounters.

    Maybe it would have been a cool game if the story was any interesting or if the developers were worth a lick, but they seem to be reaching for the stars when they can't even grab the dirt off the floor very well. Play God of War any of them and hard if you wanna play a real good game. I'll be taking this back to gamestop and telling them the damned thing is broken to get my money back because it's just awful.    … Expand

    The combat system is serviceable but it’s not enough to get past its other faults. Unfortunately reviews are filled with fanboys of the series and people that jump on the “masterpiece” bandwagon.
    And before anyone comes out and says, "lmao you're not a TRUE SOULS REDDIT GAMERLORD", I have to ask you what the appeal of these games are?
    There's no plot in sight, aside from the premise of reassembling the McGuffin Ring to save the world. The game expects you to follow a linear path of progression for the first 2 hours without even so much as a waypoint, so you're just left to die to mobs over and over until you get sick of it and check a walkthrough.
    I can play and enjoy hard games, I ran through Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare and had a lot of fun with DMC 5 on Dante Must Die. The problem I have isn't that the game is hard, it's too damn convoluted. I'm not getting kicked down because I mistimed a dash or didn't have my combos down, but because the game straight up doesn't tell you what it wants.
    The simple fact is that most gamers are willing to put in the hours to master a difficult game so long as they're having fun. People invested years into games like Command and Conquer or Age of Empires because the games were enthralling, the difficulty is just a means to an end. But if a player is getting punished by a dev that thinks trial and error is compelling gameplay, the I'll call it quits. There is no pride for me in beating a game that is meant to be beaten, or solving a puzzle that was meant to be solved. No matter how hard they are, the fun is what takes precedent.
    And if trying and guessing to stay on the linear path in an "Open World game" is fun for you, then go ahead. But I'm not regretting my refund.
    That's not even talking about the atrocious performance and terrible optimization. Holy **** why does this game run so bad?! The open world is entirely barren with no crowds, NPCs, traffic or large buildings to render. The thing looks almost as barren as the Shadow of the Colossus, and somehow runs 20x worse than that game does on next generation hardware!

    So frustrating. I raged quit tonight after putting in over 100 hours. Not even due to a boss fight. The game is unbalanced in its difficulty. This game is for a tiny subset of gamers. I have a stressful job, I look to games to blow off steam and this game achieved the opposite. I don't even feel accomplished after defeating a boss, just relief. Why would anyone subject themselves to this?

This is basically what I call an open open world game. It doesn’t hold your hand and tell you how great you are. You earn your way through it every step and it takes a lot of what made Zelda/Skyrim great and puts some Dark SoulsHands down this is the BEST game I’ve played in 10 yrs. The open world allows for moving around and away from moments that served as roadblocks in prior titles. Can’t beat that boss? No problem, just go level up or try out a new weapon set up and come back. No more banging your head against the wall as you do the same fight for the 50th time. You can go at your own place and there is more variety to the game than just big sword smash and roll. And while the graphics are far from cutting edge, the game reminded me how little that matters in a game. Thanks for the stories Fromsoft, can’t wait to see what’s next.… Expand

    Beautiful graphics? I would not consider it such. Often times I was not even able to realize there is an NPC next to me, because it disolved into the background.
    Music? When my 6 year old son without watching, just listening to what I am doing points out how terrible the music of the game is, I realize why my frustration spending with this title is so big.
    I honestly do not understand the extremely high critics reviews, why they call this game a milestone. Maybe for a niche group of players who like to be annoyed and frustrated by a game, it delivers, but I did not have fun with it for any second.    … Expand

The scale of the world, the density, the verticality are incredible. There’s nothing else like it. Ignore the trolls reviews binging this game, it’s a masterpiece.

The first problem is that there is no quest interface whatsoever. There are certainly quests, just no way to keep track of them without doing it manually (eg. pen and paper) or the more realistic solution: just google everything. The 2nd big issue is that co-op is just backwards. With most games with jump-in co-op you would ask for help, and people answer. In this game, people have to volunteer to help and then wait around for someone to ask for it. If you want to just co-op the entire game with friends, well you can't, it doesn't work that way. Co-op ends as soon as a player dies or a boss does and you have to set it up all over again. Definitely could have been done better.… Expand

El gameplay evoluciona, la forma de contar la historia es igual pero quizas algo mas sencilla de seguir que en los souls (aunque bastante menos que en Sekiro). Como punto debatiblemente negativo está que tiene muchas mazmorras opcionales y jefes opcionales claro esta.estos jefes suelen reciclarse en este tipo de mazmorras pero digamos que son cosas opcionales que solo sirve n para conseguir nuevas armas/hechizos, y aun asi se hace entretenido de completar, no me resulto un drama pero entiendo que a alguna gente esto puede molestarle.
    En resumen: gran gameplay, gran ambientación, gran música, gran historia, grandes personajes pero las cosas opcionales del juego aveces son repetidas (aunque con variaciones)    … Expand

    But, make no mistake, this is a VERY frustrating game! Which is a shame. Because it is needlessly so. As of writing, almost two weeks after its release, judging from achievements, only 15% of players have finished it yet. I won't be one of those people, I have better things to do than waste hours on boss after boss after boss. But it was a lovely world for the first 30 hours and might be worth buying just to experience it for that alone, but afterwards, prepare for an unpleasant time, quite often, interlaced with fascination at the world design.    … Expand

The story is vague, like many other FromSoft games, but there is just so much more in just item descriptions alone that interested me. I haven't beaten every boss yet, but I have dumped 60 hours into the game and overcome some of the more challenging enemies in the game. The fights are tough, but always fair. I haven't encountered a boss that was that I genuinely didn't enjoy fighting. My only issue are the sidequests. Sometimes they're hard to keep track of and some of the npcs would move to a location that just seemed random until the added context later in the quest, . Eventually it made sense, but it didn't make it any less tedious trying to find where they were in the massive world. I know FromSoft likes to be minimalistic with stuff like that, but some kind of log to just keep track of what quest I had started would have been appreciated. Overall, the game isn't the most graphically advanced and definitely has some issues, but I've been enjoying the game so much despite the few issues I did run into. The world is aesthetically beautiful and there are endless possibilities with exploration still left. I can't wait to fill out the rest of my map and maybe find some secret areas and fell more enemies.… Expand

    Having played Demon Souls, Bloodborne, and Sekiro, this isn't my first rodeo with FromSoftware and I'm really digging the NOT HOLDING YOUR HAND APPROACH open world aspect to a souls like game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve always loved FS games, played all of them, except for Demon Souls. The early and mid game is phenomenal! The main bosses are super cool and cinematic, some bosses do get repetitive by the end of the game like the Tree Spirit and Burial Watchdogs. The main reason I didn’t give it a 10 was because I felt as though the late game was kind of a slog. Mountaintop of the Giants and beyond, the enemies get a huge spike in health and damage, while if you’ve properly explored your damage may be reaching its max with +10/+25 weapon and the soft cap for your attack attribute. I’ve seen many people complain about the graphics but I see it as a none issue, considering Miyazaki has said graphics have never been a priority. The priority has always been the storytelling and gameplay which FS has delivered with flying colors.… Expand

    As someone who is a major fan of Elder Scrolls and Soulsborne games I can say this will forever be my favorite game. It combines nice calm exploration of medieval ruins in a beautiful landscape with the hard and intense battle we love from FromSoftware. The combat is smooth the attention to detail is amazing as always. Basically it's a nerds dream! Please play this XD

    Really did not expect such a brutal learning curve. Overall 10's. I'm on board the souls train all day.     After a rough start on xbox side of things, this game is now a true masterpiece. Definitely as of writing this in March is the GOTY and probably will be top contender come the end of the year still. No worries elden rings also gives you thr ability early on to summon spirits to your side to help you fight and defeat enemies as well as summon random players from other worlds into yours to help, along with you being summoned to theirs if wanted. In all this game really dies have it all. And will leave you wondering what's next throughout as you rise your steed around slashing or using magical abilities to decimate hordes of enemies.… Expand

    I was hoping for something to completely reinvent gameplay and story based off of the hype but what I got was just yet another game with very similar esthetics, mechanics, and ambiguity with certain story elements and characters. It's a decent game to some I'm sure but after so many similar titles, I've had all the fun I personally think I can with such subtle growth and change.     Lack of early game narrative gives your character a lack of purpose as your just running around a world you know nothing about and don’t care about to kill enemies you know nothing about and care nothing about
    It’s hard to call a game like this an “RPG” because RPGs usually have good immersion however the immersion is broken with this game once you get a loading screen and are teleported away every time you die, which happens a lot by design with this game
    Enemies always respawning also breaks immersion and makes you clearing an area feel unrewarding

    Overall this game is a **** fest where you spawn in with no purpose and are tasked with killing enemies that attack quicker than half your attacks, attack animation duration(something you can’t cancel). Who also hit you during your roll animation(not synced to negation bad game design) making the core draw of this game the combat a poor experience.

    Despite some annoying performance issues, Elden Ring is a masterpiece. The combat, enemy variety, exploration, music, and open world are top notch. I’ve been playing it daily across all platforms alongside other games all month, and look forward to doing that all year as I try new builds, help friends, and try to do everything I want in this triumph of a video game.

    Elden Ring rewards your curiosity in many ways, be it items, runes or a pathway to another area, but mostly it’s a story to tell your friends when you are sharing tales around the bonfire. It does not force feed tutorials down your throat, but instead it leans far the opposite way by not telling you much at all and lets you explore and find things out on your own. There is no true quest log, no points of interest on a map or no arrows pointing you in the right direction, so there is a good chance you’ll miss some of the best caves and areas of the game. Because of all of this, Elden Ring is forcing me to find all of that out on my own and it is one of the most rewarding games I have ever played. I will continue to explore the Land Between for many hours to come. I’m just not in a hurry.

    Elden Ring manages to draw the player into a fascinating world for many hours, with refined gameplay that fits perfectly with the freedom granted to the player. A sumptuous but imperfect work, which fails to completely overcome some of the historical flaws of Hidetaka Miyazaki's productions. Flaws that, however, can't diminish the scope of a masterpiece destined to leave an indelible mark on the videogame world and to set new standards for the souls-like and open-world genres.
