Getting griefed every five minutes, random game breaking glitches, little to no support and they appear to be down to one server so it’s just you and all the toxic losers who have nothing better to do but to troll you for twenty minutes straight not sinking your ship and killing you over and over. 1 star because the water is definitely where most of the effort went. What happened to the economy in the Sea Of Thieves world? Was there hyper-inflation in the years since the chests of gold were buried by the previous generation of treasure-obsessed pirates?

How else do you explain that it takes two days of adventuring, maybe some 20-30 chests of gold to buy one ... freaking ... jacket - not a tier-3 uber OP jacket - the first jacket upgrade in the game?!

After two days of repetitive grind my increasingly desperate pirate calculated he would have to play for 60 solid days, collecting something approaching 2000 chests from INCREDIBLY repetitive missions to get the outfit he wanted and a few ship upgrades. What the heck, Rare, we have lives - and a huge array of other ways to entertain ourselves!

This is the most grindy game I have ever played, coupled with problems like (literally) one type of enemy, snakes with more health than sharks, physics engine bugs that have sunken ships leaving the water and flying overhead(!), a tiny game world, repetitive under-populated islands, just 3 basically identical quest types and horribly poor balance between small and large crews when it comes to the much-touted skeleton forts, this game officially stinks worse than a bilge-rat boot.

What a rush-job - a great graphics engine and a satisfying sailing mechanic do not a game make - virtually every mobile game has greater depth and variety. Do NOT waste your money - give it 18 months and check back in - or just go play Monkey Island, Sid Meier's Pirates or Ron Gilbert's underrated mobile game Scallywags to get your piratey-fix.

No wonder Guybrush was so willing to sell "fine leather jackets" - he must have been the richest pirate in the whole Caribbean...

I made an account just now, because you might like to know...IGN actually gave this barebones $60 game a higher score than Alien Isolation (They gave Alien less than a 6). You know... A game that actually has CONTENT, a STORY, as well as this so called "Good Foundation". OH AND THERES NO MICROSTRANSACTIONS IN ALIEN ISOLATION BUT THERE IS GONNA BE FOR SoT!

A game that actually has CONTENT, a STORY, as well as this so called "Good Foundation". OH AND THERES NO MICROSTRANSACTIONS IN ALIEN ISOLATION BUT THERE IS GONNA BE FOR SoT!

**** off, seriously just **** off IGN. Rare had many years, and the support of a several BILLION dollar company... to at least animate a body for the Kraken, or actually put more missions. Maybe even adding more than literally, LITERALLY, 2 enemy NPCs on ALL the islands. Skeletons, and snakes. Would it kill them to add even just a spider? Microsoft exclusive budget couldn't handle it? And they call this a pirate game, wheres the british army trying to stop us from getting rich? Getting loot is WAAAY too ez, and it makes me feel more like I'm doing chores tha being an actual pirate. It was harder to steal a chocolate bar as a little kid, than it was to get loot from the skull island, which literally just has the same skeletons over and over and over again.

There's only 2 melee animations in the ENTIRE sword fighting "pirate" game. I wish I was exaggerating. I am not. Forget about having a decent ship to ship battle because of the wonky controls and the extremely, and I really mean EXTREMELY limited arsenal. If you've done it once, you've done all there is to do with that. I don't even know what the point of looting is, because literally everything you can buy in the game is cosmetic only. Once you got all the gun types (which you could probably get in under 20 minutes) it doesn't help you do any better at anything. So why even bother? Don't let me start with the overpriced sail paintjobs. They don't make your boat any faster. There is nothing to do, and there is no reason to do anything once you played the first time. There is only TWO kinds of ships in a PIRATE game! WHY? At least put a ****ing row boat in the game we're not all that picky! You can't even fish or sell sharks and whales for money like in AC4. You can't even rob merchant ships because they do not exist in this game. How did Ubisoft make a better pirate game with actual looting, when the pirating was just a small part of the story? They really **** the bed with this game I'm sorry to say.

But yeah sure, give Rare a pass because apparently all we need to sell a full priced game and get a decent review, is a "GOOD FOUNDATION!"

And people wonder why more and more games keep coming out like this. Hyped up, unfinished, full priced, but it's ok because at least it had a concept...and now they have your money too...(like it's really that hard to imagine a pirate game ffs) Seriously being a gamer sucks sometimes these days.

Oh and no! I'm not happy at all that this game did bad. I wanted it the second I heard about it, because I loved the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies and Assassin's Creed Black Flag.I preordered full price right after it was announced because Rare was good. I had faith they could do this. I actually got really sad once I started playing the game and saw that all that hype was wasted... and there isn't a new first party pirate game coming anytime soon. That's messed up. It's fun with friends, but I've done a lot of regrettable stupid things with friends and still had fun. If you're actually dumb enough to give Alien Isolation a lower score than SoT, you would most likely be the type to have fun with friends watching paint dry, in the rain...

On some other site some idiot removed my comments because I called out the games shortcomings. I hope he gets punched in the nuts every time he falls asleep for the rest of his life. People like that, and everyone of those "critics" who gave this game a positive review, is your ****ing enemy if you're a gamer. They would have every game go to ruin just like this one, when it was supposed to be good

The game is shallow and has very little stuff to keep players coming back for more. Right now the only thing your working for is gold so you can buy some skins to look cool the problem here is the skins are over priced because they dont have enough skins to sell. For example there are several coats that all look almost identical the only difference is the color there is no variety in the gear you can buy.

PVP can be fun at times having epic ship battles but those only happen 10 percent of the time. If you do try to level up fast then do a raid that takes 2-3 hours because you have to not only fight through waves of skeletons but you also have to deal with people that troll you. I can not count how many times my group has done a raid only to have some sloop show up steal the key then hide it so we cant find it. This is aggravating because you just wasted 3 hours not really enjoying the content because its so much rinse and repeat and you have nothing to show for your wasted time.

There is also the issue with the fact that all the islands are identical sure they have different placement of assets but none of them have a unique character that makes me reorganize them as soon as I step foot on them. The servers right now only support 7 ships so the world feels like a empty place. If you want a ship simulator where you spend most of your time on a boat doing nothing then this is the game for you. I would say take advantage of the game pass and try the game for 14 days and then sign up for a month of the game pass. This game IMO is only worth $15-$20 not the full fledged 60 or more that Microsoft wants.

Getting placed in jail for hours because you are on pc and others are on xbox or because you use a female character. Reward system at times seems to not give you xp or gold for finishing the mission. Also if you are on a sinking ship you can fall through the ocean or may have issues being able to use the ladders. Servers randomly kick you off for "not being active" even while you are sailing from far island to far island. After the 3/27/2018 patch the game requires to be reinstalled each time you what to play.

This is not a game, for everyone. Those claiming it is an 8-10 are clearly self-delusional, trying to shill, or are M$/Rare employees. You even don´t get anything really special for defeating the kraken or the megalodon. Also, the game is SO overpriced, like really, 60-70$? It should be about 5-20$ max. I can`t get over the fact, that it was in development for 4 years and that´s all they could do. So, yeah, there is not much you can do in this game.

On its face, Sea of Thieves sounds like a lot of fun. Travel the high seas with some friends, engage in naval combat, and plunder to your heart's content. There are moments when this vision acts itself out in fantastic ways, but that's all it is. Just moments.

Rare has created a relatively beautiful world that is devoid of life. The game hinges on player's imagination and creating their own path, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There have been many games that rely on the player's ability to create their own story.

Yet, with Sea of Thieves, everything feels empty. The only NPCs are quest givers, who are one-dimensional, and poorly crafted skeleton enemies. The enemies lack any creativity or thought. They are merely a stand-in obstacle for players to pass through. The enemies themselves don't amount to a challenge, until Sea of Thieves' clunky, outdated, and overall poor land combat kicks in.

The land combat is not only dull and clunky, but downright bad. It feels more akin to a chore rather than a rewarding challenge as you try to secure your treasure.

For a game touted as an open sandbox, it seems Rare built the sandbox but forgot the sand. There are three factions with three "different" quest types, but each amounts to fetching a chest, skull, or animals and returning them to the quest giver. There are skeleton forts to clear, but when melee combat feels like players are using low-level characters from Morrowind, the excitement from facing down a horde of enemies is completely destroyed.

This leaves just fetch quests. The quests are nothing more than radiant questlines that have popped up in AAA RPGs: Go to x, find Y, return. Of course, as a game centering on pirating, there are treasure maps and riddles to solve, but the enjoyment is once again diluted thanks to the previously mentioned skeletons. Once again, fighting enemies should feeling challenging and rewarding, rather than an annoyance. It seems Rare threw the skeletons in because they knew not having mobs was creating too easy of an experience, so they hastily threw something together and here we are.

In a game where cosmetic customization was touted over a more traditional progression system, cosmetic customization is severely lacking. I was extremely excited when I learned SoT would enter around cosmetics, rather than unlocking higher grade hulls or weapons. It should have been a fresh breath of air. Instead, the customization is barebones and lacking. Currently, there are only three items on ships that players can customize. Players cannot create anything truly unique. In a sandbox game. A sandbox game that touted cosmetic customization as the driving force behind its rewards. Player customization is also severely lacking. Players are limited to just a few clothing and hair options.

Sea of Thieves is everything the gaming community has hated about recent release in one concise package. Lack of customization, bad AI, an empty world, bad combat, and fetch quests.

The promise of "more content to come" cannot be the excuse developers turn to when they push out games that are half-finished, but that is precisely what Rare has done. It is not a promise of "Free DLC," but rather a promise of content that should have been in the game from its awkward and mostly broken launch.

Let's get to the exciting parts, where Sea of Thieves really shows its value. NAVAL COMBAT.

For a game built around PvP, SoT gets it right in isolated instances. Ship-to-ship combat is some of the most fun players can have. There's not much more exciting than sinking or looting an enemy ship, while on the flip side the feeling of loss as you abandon your sinking ship and its content is heavy. This is where SoT shines. The naval combat is fun, especially when your crew is coordinating together as you blast holes in the sides of enemy ships or frantically try to scoop water out of your hold as you try to keep your ship together.

However, finding the instance of ship-to-ship combat is few and far between. Players are more likely to have their ship destroyed while they are turning in their fetch quests, or are on shore looking for treasure, than having their ship sunk as a result of ship-to-ship combat. There is no punishment for griefers who camp outposts (killing players near the quest givers as they try to turn in treasure, sinking empty docked ships) or spawn camp.

In a game that relies so heavily on the sense of accomplishment from PvP, the feeling is completely ruined by players who have decided to take the easy way out.

The game's "Pirate Code" does nothing to deter players who endless grief and troll, for no purpose other than to ruin the experience of other players. Rare is trusting players to self-police and it is already clear, players cannot be counted on to do so.

SoT could have been a fantastic and unique experience, but instead it feels desolate and empty, hampered by bad gameplay.

Parents, this game is not for children. This game has satanic symbolism and its going to put a curse on your pure children. My son was even temporarily controlled by the Devil, he said "Mom, its just a game". My heart was torn in half. I felt I have failed as a mother. But my husband got an exorcist so we managed to get the devil out of him. Please do not commit the same mistake as I have.

A stunning world ruined by it being empty. Open world games need a reason to explore them. Simple fetch quests that are rinse and repeat just don't cut it.

This game is just far too expensive for what you get. It feels incomplete and quickly gets boring. The quests are repetitive and the sailing is tedious. I was excited that XBox was finally going to have a good exclusive game, but Sea of Thieves falls way short.

Honestly, I have very little nice things to say about the game. It's pretty. The animation is cute, but come on, is that really enough to make this a "good game"? No. Don't buy it. It's an unfinished product and Rare should not be commended for that. Avoid the game at least until they provide more content.

I agree with almost every other sensible review that isn't blind Xbox fan-boy praise or people angry its not Eve online pirate edition that this game is beautiful, but does not have a lot going on. I kind of knew this when I got the game, but to put it bluntly; the game is TOO SIMPLE. There is NO progression except cosmetics or systems for crafting or gathering meaningful resources and honestly thats crippling. It means as soon as the gameplay gets even a little stale you lose all reason to play it. That being said, the game that is there is entertaining for about 10 hours. In that time you have probably seen every mission type the game has to offer a few times and with the lack of a real progression system, probably grown tired of them and their underwhelming rewards. Speaking of, about 90% of the time in the first 2 days of play, the rewards will sometimes take upwards of a half hour to appear in your coin purse and your reputation bars will stay stagnant untill you restart the game a lot of the time.

That being said, once you get done with the mediocre PvE offerings, whats left. Well the PvP... exists and its not that bad. The ship piloting controls feel realistically weighty and shouting orders to your friends is really fun in the heat of battle when you know all of your stuff is on the line. These things make the PvP fun, what doesn't make it fun is the god awful melee combat. Its clunky and awkward and to be honest, I am convinced there is some kind of hidden stamina system as it seems my character randomly stops swinging for no reason. Most games have bars for this or symbols or something. This extends to the PvE as well but it is way more noticeable in the PvP.

So I have kinda roasted this game a lot, but one thing I will say is it is fun with friends. Its buggy enough to laugh at and gives you a fun enough sandbox to screw around with while you scream pirate themed slurs at your enemies while you spew grog on your imprisoned friends. If you look at it with a bit of imagination it is really quite fun, but so is almost any other game. This is $30 worth of game at maximum. Pick it up on sale.

edit- i took a point off because I glitched through the hull of the boat into the ocean twice in an hour, one time it got me killed lol

Throughout the testing phases that went on throughout development, content was always a big concern and the full release hasn't done anything to address that concern. The game basically consists of point to point missions which gets boring quick. you basically have 3 mission types. Where's the adventure? the Stories? If you are playing solo or as a two man team you will be getting wrecked by galleons a lot. You'll also encounter griefers patrolling outposts just destroying stuff for lols. i don't see the game having a long term future in all honesty. You really need 4 players to fully enjoy the game and it wont be long before your crew deserts to other games. Far Cry 5 gives SoT its first big test in a few days. The game world has been beautifully crafted but it just feels so empty. where's the AI ships so you can pirate them? where's the variety is hips? surely fishing should have been in the game? wheres the variety of NPCs and animals? the game just lacks any depth i'm afraid which is a great shame. The core mechanics of the game show promise and it makes for a good base for a potential future game that could be great - but Sea of Thieves has glaring issues with even the best parts of the game. The world largely feels barren and empty, most islands might have some of the 3 animal types or skeletons but moving through them definitely feels more like a sandbox or theme park than an actual inhabited world. That would be forgivable if there were actually any reason to explore the islands aside repeating one of the three basic mission types that never really play out any differently unless you run across other players.

And when you do run into other players - the game seems was more exciting and interesting - until you realize the futility of the whole meta. The combat is basic and doesn't get any more interesting once you spend a few hours with it. Hitting seems delayed at times and is not very satisfying - either in PvP or PvE. Ship combat - what is supposed to be the strong point of the game - starts to fall flat when you realize two good crews facing off against each other usually just ends in a stalemate when both sides run out of resources. It's hilariously easy to keep your ship from sinking and being it that there are no forms of leveling or non-cosmetic progression - there's also no real difference to how fights will play out. The four weapons in the game are available to everyone to be swapped at any time while on a ship and the three firearms function essentially the same. And sure you may be able to launch yourself onto another ship and get lucky enough to keep them from repairing the damage just long enough until they sink.

But when you realize they will just keep spawning a nearby island and the process will just repeat itself over and over again - it almost becomes worth it to avoid fights altogether (which is totally possible given there are no ways to close the gap between a trailing ship and their target as long as they don't hit something). The spawn system in the game is also easily exploitable in other ways and you can set up shop on an enemy ship murdering them just as they spawn over and over until they decide to scuttle the ship or move to a different server.

The whole game really seems to be a missed opportunity to make something a lot more interesting. The non-ship combat is bland, the voyages are repetitive, and the ship combat becomes more of a hassle than it is fun the more people pick up the meta. The level of cosmetics in the game at launch is also laughable for a game that is supposed to be largely about cosmetic customization. I really hope somewhere down the line the game becomes something great but as it stands right now Sea of Thieves is just a mediocre game with cool looking water that can hold your attention for a days of heavy play - a week or two if you play it lightly. Rent or wait on this one for sure - it has the depth of a mud puddle three days after raining.

They should have made the game fun and friendly to everyone instead of making it favor PvP focused players while intentionally disadvantaging PvE focused players. For all the people that are going to tell me this is a PvP game, like I mentioned already, there's a lot of PvE content for a PvP focused game. Arena is PvP, Open is a ganker's paradise. It's anarchy. If you're good at PvP and you have a crew of 4+, then it's open season to roam around and kill people at your leisure, for everyone else it's a nightmare of constantly looking over your shoulder, losing your progress and putting up with griefers. Imagine if GTA had no passive mode and you had to do all of the missions in the public lobby where you could have some one roll up and kill you at any time. The bad: There is nearly no content outside of PvP. I don't just mean quests, I mean content. The Battle Field games are PvP only... but they have CONTENT, guns, vehicles, upgrades, equipment, different things to get and or do. In one class alone you have Easily over 30 options between guns and equipment.

    Sea of Thieves has.
4 Weapons, unlocked from the start of the game.
2 Ships, that can not be changed in any game play relevant way.
That's it for character choices... everyone has the same basic kit of stuff at all times otherwise...

There are exactly 3 types of quests, with minor variations, but they are all essentially fetch quests, really basic fetch quests.

Personally I don't mind the quests too much, they are there to move players around so that you can run into each other for pvp. The Ship to Ship pvp in the game is its high point... I can get into very technical critiques of their game balance but the main problems are the lack of variety.

A lot of fun for a couple of hours, but that's it. It's just getting repetative and boring, no progression at all. If you don't really care about cosmetics there is nothing to spend the money on. I was hoping to upgrade the ship. It feels like No man sky, but on the sea.

If you have cyberbuddies and you want to get along, drink some beer while pretending youre playing a game, maybe you can enjoy this thing. Thats all. It is vague, it has terrible gameplay and it is poor on variety. I honestly wonder if these devs actually play any games to tell the difference between a good or a bad (or a disgraceful) game. No damage control nor any politically correct **** discourse on how can games be inclusive could ever save this project.

Im not rating it a 4 or worse because the visuals and songs are ok, it actually has good graphics. But the rest is terrible. No man's sea. Sad.

Before we’d even figured out how to sail properly, because of course no tutorials, we were taken out and sent to a black loading screen of death. Upon our spawning to a new ship in a new location...what the should on or horizon... the same crew in the same boat... same result. Repeat the same cylcle of set sail, death, spawn repeat and you have three hours of boring and frustrating game play. No missions complete, no loot, our enemies weren’t even getting anything for it I presume as we hadn’t anything to steal. Nevertheless they kept pursuing and killing us for three hours. Why would you design a game where that is possible Rare? Oh and there’s no character progression beyond the appearance of your character and ship... so glad It came with game pass and I didn’t Have to pay full price.

Sea of Thieves has so much potential. Rare was a fine studio that produced many of my favorite games as I was growing up. After the release of SoT, my faith in Rare has been shaken though.

Remember when you bought a game and you didn't have to download a patch or update because they shipped the ENTIRE game upon release? It's been quite a few years so I can understand if most of you can't remember. Games are evolving and unfortunately Rare isn't evolving with them. I'm actually impressed that Rare was able to sink so many hours into development, push the release date back multiple times, and still manage to promote SoT as a finished product. I mean, come on guys. Day one and the achievements aren't even popping? This is basic stuff. At this rate we'll have the complete game by 2020!

Just be patient everyone, maybe they'll include pirate stuff soon! You know, PIRATE STUFF! Like more than 2 ship types! Or can you imagine more than 3 weapons? Because they can't!

I get that it's an open-world game and it promotes teamwork, which I love, but it's pretty irresponsible to tell me I'm getting an Xbox game when I'm really getting a half-eaten ham sandwich. Except the ham sandwich would have more features and less updates.

The game is a relentless sequence of rinse and repeat fetch quests, that are boring in every way and lack any real hook or reason to be doing it in the first place. Theres no gear, everything is cosmetic, this effectively means theres no progression or character growth, only arbitrary ranks with the games three factions. There are 3 types of quests, and thats it. Seriously. Go to an island and find treasure, find chickens, or go to an island and kill skeletons.

The combat is inexcusably bad. Theres a single attack button for swords, which have a 3 hit combo. And thats it... For a game in 2018, I have no idea why Rare thought it was ok to do that. Combat is so bad, it shouldn't even be in the game. Skeletons have broken AI and are no challenge. All you have to do is stand on a rock and it breaks the AI and path finding, and they will just stand there while you mash at them.

The game gets boring real quick once you figure out youve seen and done everything the game has to offer after the first hour of gameplay. After you learn the mechanics, theres nothing left but the grind. And my oh my is it a grind, the stuff of legend. Since theres no gear, no levels, no equipment or gadgets, no progression, not even a story line or a plot, theres not much this game has to offer.

A terrible disappointment, through and through. If your set on getting this, DONT BUY IT for $60, thats a total rip off. Get Game Pass by Microsoft, you can play it for 14 days for free (trial.) Overall, the state the game is in is completely inexcusable for a AAA release in 2018, most of the games systems are so archaic its a joke.

Unfortunately a few hours in we started to notice the same thing everyone else has. This game is shallow. After playing it for a little while it feels like someone built the engine, and put those side quests in that people tend to complain about in other games, but forgot to put the main game in. The primary game is fetch quests with a few random events tossed in.

Sea of Thieves has the framework of a game that could be brilliant. I halfway believe maybe it will become that game in a year or so. If so I'd be more than happy to pay for it. But for now, i could not recommend anyone to buy this essentially early access game at full price.

Side note: that water is beautiful. Rare should license out whatever tech they used to make that happen.

But after a little while, you realize, this is it, there isn't anything more in this game.

As game developer I can't help but notice the lack of effort that went into this game. This is what made me come to the conclusion of scam. If you were to make an asset-list from all items, objects and things in the game. and compare this to other similarly priced games. You would start to understand what I mean. This game has about 10% of the effort put into it compared to your average $60 experience ($85 if you buy this in Europe)

There are no cheap cosmetics, a getting hat will take you 5 hours of play (if you don't fool around) and changing your ship color or sail at least two full days of play. (and since barely anyone paints their ship, it's hard to tell them apart) This grind is there for two reasons: To keep you playing for longer, since there is not much else to play towards, and to sell future micro-transactions.

One thing that personally stuck out to me as a sore thumb is the music. I love the concept that they made. There is no soundtrack, but you get two instruments, to play your own music with friends. It's really fun to make your own pirate song. But this hole thing turns into a pain when you realize there is only 4 songs, and not even the most known shanties. (maybe a few more you can discover, but haven't found any of them) After a while this will get to your nerves as they become very repetitive after hours of play. It is just a detail, but it shows the enormous lack of effort that went into this game. With this concept they could easily have made 30+ shanties or more varying instruments like a flute, a drum or a guitar.

My recommendation: don't, DO NOT, buy this game at full price. But surely check it out with the xbox game-pass. It's worth experiencing, but not worth wasting money on. This game is another example of sickness that is spreading in the Industry.

It's fun for a few hours with friends, then there is literally nothing else to do. It currently has around 3-4 hours playable content. The missions are all IDENTICAL. The PvP is non existent and completely pointless. There are so few systems that there's no progression. There's 4 weapons and they are all dull and uninteresting.

There's no tutorial help, I had to google for an hour to figure out that you have to press 'E' to bring up a hidden menu with your quest objectives. The PC version is just a terrible console port. Sure, it works fine but the menus are terrible for mouse/keyboard.

Don't know what else to say, it's 70% of a perfect game, it's just not finished.

Sea of Thieves quickly gets very repetitive as it pretty much is get a quest from one of the 3 vendors that the game offers which is the gold hoarder which is get chests, Order of Souls get skulls from past pirate captains & the merchant which is get pigs, gunpowder barrels etc and deliver it back to a certain outpost within a time limit. Once you have got your quest you get on the ship, travel to the island that the game tells you to go to, get the treasure or skull or barrel etc, take it back to the rep vendor and cash it in for gold which can be used to buy cosmetics and a bit of experience which can be used to level up your vendors which will allow you to upgrade them which will give you quests that are slightly harder than the ones that you have previously done, for example longer quests meaning that you have a better chance of getting more chests & skulls to get you more money. Once you have sold your loot that you have got on your adventure you just repeat by buying new quests from the vendors and voting for them on what one you want to do next in your ship.

Even though the game has it's technical issues I feel that Rare is doing a good job communicating with the Sea of Thieves community by releasing developer update videos explaining what the studio plans to do about tacking these issues and keeps us up-to-date via the status page on there forums and twitter.

Sadly, after only a few hours of gameplay, I have come to the conclusion that it's very boring in a short amount of time, which is not good at all considering how long I waited for this release.

If the constant enemy camping at outposts isn't bad enough, the $60 purchase for a game teeming with near nothing to do but wander around aimlessly for hours is BS, and I'm taking this game back for a refund, or a trade in of some kind. It's just not what I was hoping for, so now I must wait again for another Exclusive to hit my XBox One S that might be worth of the purchase, but we all know this game just is not the winner it was touted as being. It seems that many others feel the same way, and I thought the following comments sum this game up the very best!

"Sea of Thieves has no story, no competitive multiplayer, no true character progression, and only very little in the way of compelling gameplay."

"If this game were a movie, it would be a straight to DVD type of movie".

"This game, I feel will be mostly positive just from people really wanting to have a good Microsoft exclusive, but long story short, this game is as large as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. Not much has changed from the alpha, and it seems like the appropriate price should be 30 dollars, not 60".

That really sums up how I felt about this game, and that is why I'm giving this game a rating of 4 out of 10. This game is the HAZE of this Generation. Hoped to be a great exclusive, okay with some friends for a few hours I suppose, then becomes so boring that you just want to place it back on the shelf and wait for more content to come for the game, (for free), one day to help make this the game it should have been in the first place, (much like No Man's Sky has been).

Why not give the option to hire some AI crews for your ship? The game's only saving grace is its art-like graphics. The sea can look amazing from time to time.

We have nothing but respect for Rare's vision with Sea of Thieves, but it is a game as likely to chew you up and spit you out, as it is to embrace you. If the wind is in your favour then it can be a delight, but a storm is never far off if you lose momentum. The real test of the quality and efficacy of Rare's plan will be in how it manages to evolve and grow in the weeks and months to come. [Issue#199, p.67]
