I have been following Sea of Thieves progression very closely. Thankfully Sea of Thieves delivers in most areas and it’s unlike any other game I’ve ever played before and ultimately it was worth the wait. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic in my opinion and the uniqueness of doing certain tasks shines through in all areas, which in turn makes the game an incredible amount of fun. The gameplay is absolutely fantastic in my opinion and the uniqueness of doing certain tasks shines through in all areas, which in turn makes the game an incredible amount of fun. Without a doubt the best way to enjoy this game is with friends. The co-op offerings are absolutely flawless and I’ve been able to play with my friends who are on PC with no problems at all and each time we’ve played its remained fun and unique throughout our time with the game. Sea of Thieves also allows you to play on your own and whilst it does provide you with some enjoyable moments when alone it’s not as good as when you play with friends, but it’s still worth playing it this way at times. Something that really impressed me about this game was the world in which the game takes place. It’s very big and no island feels the same and visiting each island was a pleasure to do because there’s always something different to find when you explore deeply, which is great. Don’t get me wrong the game could do with more content but I’m prepared to wait because the content that is included is more than enough to keep you satisfied for quite a while and there is enough variety to stop things from becoming boring especially when played with friends. A big part of this game is obviously travelling on your ship and thankfully everything has been done to perfection here. Sailing feels great and adjusting the sails and doing certain things actually matter so there is some realism here. The controls also hold up really well and I didn’t experience any problems at all with them, which is a bonus. The presentation side of the game creates a wonderful experience for me and I couldn’t have asked for any more here. Visually the game looks beautiful from start to finish and I was especially impressed with the weather effects in the game. The sound design is also brilliant and it captures the pirate atmosphere really well, which is great. At the end of the day as a game Sea of Thieves excells in my opinion and whilst some people may moan about the lack of content I don’t see that as a major problem because you make your own fun and content when you play. I think Rare have done a fantastic job with this game and it’s a game unlike no other, and without a doubt I’m going to stay with the game for a long time because I’m looking forward to see how the game grows and develops. The only caution with this one is it will require continued updates to keep it fresh and worth playing. My advice check it out on Xbox Game Pass before making the purchase if you are undecided if it's right for you. Expand

Sea of Thieves seems to be an early access game with a lot of things to add, the problem is that it has been developing for many years.

Rare said that more content will be added in the future, but until then I will continue thinking that in this videogame the true thieves of this sea are not the players...

In comparison to all games that have come out by the beginning of 2018,Sea of Thieves doesn't seem to excel over any of them in any area other than the beauty of sea travel. The developers claim it is "a game as a service" yet compared to other games of that nature like Minecraft and Fortnite, this game is a fully priced $60 and comes with significantly less customization and incentive to play. The core gameplay grows stale after a few voyages, and you begin to grow weary of the frequent encounter with other players camping at the outposts. The game could potentially be full of life in a year or two, but as of now it is simply a gorgeous game that leaves much to be desired. Expand

This game deserves a fair review, as do all others. It isn't a 9 and it isn't a 1, it's a 5 and here is why. Generally video game reviews grade on a scale from 4 to 10, meaning that mediocre games often get 6s and 7s. I do not agree with this standard. I do not agree with this standard. A 5 to me, is a mediocre game that has only a few enjoyable/good things about it. Sea of Thieves embodies this. The games looks good for the cartoonish graphics it is going for. The sailing is realistic and enjoyable. A journey with friends is very enjoyable and brings a ton of laughs and crazy antics. But that is where the good aspects stop. The game is a grind-fest for cosmetic items. You do fetch-quest after fetch quest for measly amounts of gold that translate to cosmetic upgrades. There is no over-arching story, only fetch-quests. The gun-play is as bare-bones as it gets, and the sword-play is only slightly better than that. The game gets boring quickly, especially if you play alone. Enemies, fetch-quests, and limited player interactions leave this game a boring slog. It is not a game I recommend regardless of the Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and PC 'war' mentality. It is too expensive at $60 for what little content is available, and it isn't promising enough to invest in with an early access mentality.

For those who enjoy it, good. You have every right to, but if you are one of the people discarding valid criticisms on here or other sites, know that it only hurts you and other consumers. Any game can be made fun with friends, that doesn't make the game good. Any game can be improved in the future, but it does not warrant $60 right now. If you really want to give this a try get a two week game pass trial from Xbox, that is the only way I can suggest for others to explore Sea of Thieves.

A game that sparks your imagination. Oh, the theme, landscapes, ship physics, sound effects. Sadly, that fantasy does not live beyond the first hours, since there is no content and long-term cycles that support it. I hope Xbox could find their right step in this late phase of current console generation.

TL;DR: Sea of Thieves is ambitious but falls flat. The open world is lifeless and becomes boring fast. Quest design is tedious. PvP is a slog. All progression is cosmetic and death/destruction carries little risk or reward. Too shallow to be worth buying, too little content to justify staying subscribed to the Game Pass if this is the only game you were anticipating using the game pass for.

During the betas people making these observations were shouted down with the standard rallying cry of "it's a beta, not everything is available!". But now that the full game is here... well, it hasn't changed much from beta. You get quests and items more frequently - and yes, the kraken is there, albeit quite a disappointment once you realize he's a two trick pony - but the core gameplay loop remains unchanged. It will take an hour or two to acclimate to navigation and land combat but once you've done that you've pretty much hit the climax of the experience. All of the quests are the same, mostly revolving around fetch quests. The islands themselves are bland, feeling like drab copy/pastes just plopped into the ocean, with the same terrain and predictable enemies. Sailing the open seas becomes rote early on as the only threats you encounter are fellow pirates; there's no anti-pirate enemy AI (think the British Navy as the antagonists to the Pirates of the Caribbean). Fall off the ship and get too far away? No problem, a handy merman will just teleport you back. Ship destroyed? No problem, merman will send you to another. Losing treasure hurts until you realize the only thing you'd be doing with that gold is buying more cosmetics anyway.

Rare's idea that they wanted to create a game where anyone can jump in with friends regardless of level is novel but it ultimately means this coop action RPG lacks any carrot on a stick. It's all stick. Unless you're REALLY interested in playing dress up and exterior ship designer, there's little motivation to play long term. Given how one of the chief complaints about Destiny 2 right now is that it focuses too heavily on cosmetic items, I feel like leaning heavily on cosmetics as the primary 'progression' system in a 2018 coop 'mmo-lite' is going to blow up in Rare's face.

PVP is simply tedious. Some say it's tactical but I don't see the tactics in it. These fights almost always devolve into circling in and out of range endlessly until one side or the other tries to run - then you either chase or are chased and the whole thing repeats. But for what? If the ship you attack has no treasure, you get nothing. If it has loads of treasure - more gold for buying cosmetics so, yay, I guess? I suspect it will only be a matter of time before PvP in this game turns into a slower version of The Division's Dark Zone, where people do it more to grief others rather than for any reward or excitement.

I'm tired of hearing the "this game is for people with imagination" excuse because that logic holds no merit. Your imagination is limited to the tools you are given. Consider it this way: You can have the most ornate sandbox with the most expensive, finest sand in the world but if you only have a plastic bucket and a plastic shovel, what you can do with that sand is limited even if your imagination is as vast as Calvin and Hobbes'. Now add in the fact that a game like SoT is even more restrictive on those tools; In your in-game bucket you can literally do only two things, scoop water or vomit in it. You have buckets of wood planks but can't do anything with them except patch ship holes. Your shovel exists only to dig up treasure. If you read a review which uses the buzzphrase 'emergent gameplay', stop reading it immediately. There's no real emergent gameplay here after the first few hours. No ship building. No outpost building. No social hub a la Tortuga. No real risk in the world due to only 6 possible ships in the map at any given time. No bounty system. No player engagement outside of emotes and PVP.

One final note: You may read some people saying you can solo this game. You "can" in the sense of you can start the game and man a sloop by yourself. But you won't be able to do anything of significance without at least one other player.

It's beautiful. It can be fun, but unless you're playing with your friends it doesn't have very much charm. Even so, after a few hours the charm it does have wears off very quickly. I want to like it more, but its the kind of game I'd rather watch on youtube. I'm sure if it were at least half of it's price tag more people would be on board. Rating - 66%

I agree with almost every other sensible review that isn't blind Xbox fan-boy praise or people angry its not Eve online pirate edition that this game is beautiful, but does not have a lot going on. I kind of knew this when I got the game, but to put it bluntly; the game is TOO SIMPLE. There is NO progression except cosmetics or systems for crafting or gathering meaningful resources and honestly thats crippling. It means as soon as the gameplay gets even a little stale you lose all reason to play it. That being said, the game that is there is entertaining for about 10 hours. In that time you have probably seen every mission type the game has to offer a few times and with the lack of a real progression system, probably grown tired of them and their underwhelming rewards. Speaking of, about 90% of the time in the first 2 days of play, the rewards will sometimes take upwards of a half hour to appear in your coin purse and your reputation bars will stay stagnant untill you restart the game a lot of the time.

That being said, once you get done with the mediocre PvE offerings, whats left. Well the PvP... exists and its not that bad. The ship piloting controls feel realistically weighty and shouting orders to your friends is really fun in the heat of battle when you know all of your stuff is on the line. These things make the PvP fun, what doesn't make it fun is the god awful melee combat. Its clunky and awkward and to be honest, I am convinced there is some kind of hidden stamina system as it seems my character randomly stops swinging for no reason. Most games have bars for this or symbols or something. This extends to the PvE as well but it is way more noticeable in the PvP.

So I have kinda roasted this game a lot, but one thing I will say is it is fun with friends. Its buggy enough to laugh at and gives you a fun enough sandbox to screw around with while you scream pirate themed slurs at your enemies while you spew grog on your imprisoned friends. If you look at it with a bit of imagination it is really quite fun, but so is almost any other game. This is $30 worth of game at maximum. Pick it up on sale.

edit- i took a point off because I glitched through the hull of the boat into the ocean twice in an hour, one time it got me killed lol

The games physics are incredible when it comes to ships and water. Throughout the testing phases that went on throughout development, content was always a big concern and the full release hasn't done anything to address that concern. The game basically consists of point to point missions which gets boring quick. you basically have 3 mission types. Where's the adventure? the Stories? If you are playing solo or as a two man team you will be getting wrecked by galleons a lot. You'll also encounter griefers patrolling outposts just destroying stuff for lols. i don't see the game having a long term future in all honesty. The game world has been beautifully crafted but it just feels so empty. where's the AI ships so you can pirate them? where's the variety is hips? surely fishing should have been in the game? wheres the variety of NPCs and animals? the game just lacks any depth i'm afraid which is a great shame. The core mechanics of the game show promise and it makes for a good base for a potential future game that could be great - but Sea of Thieves has glaring issues with even the best parts of the game. The world largely feels barren and empty, most islands might have some of the 3 animal types or skeletons but moving through them definitely feels more like a sandbox or theme park than an actual inhabited world. That would be forgivable if there were actually any reason to explore the islands aside repeating one of the three basic mission types that never really play out any differently unless you run across other players.

And when you do run into other players - the game seems was more exciting and interesting - until you realize the futility of the whole meta. The combat is basic and doesn't get any more interesting once you spend a few hours with it. Hitting seems delayed at times and is not very satisfying - either in PvP or PvE. Ship combat - what is supposed to be the strong point of the game - starts to fall flat when you realize two good crews facing off against each other usually just ends in a stalemate when both sides run out of resources. It's hilariously easy to keep your ship from sinking and being it that there are no forms of leveling or non-cosmetic progression - there's also no real difference to how fights will play out. The four weapons in the game are available to everyone to be swapped at any time while on a ship and the three firearms function essentially the same. And sure you may be able to launch yourself onto another ship and get lucky enough to keep them from repairing the damage just long enough until they sink.

But when you realize they will just keep spawning a nearby island and the process will just repeat itself over and over again - it almost becomes worth it to avoid fights altogether (which is totally possible given there are no ways to close the gap between a trailing ship and their target as long as they don't hit something). The spawn system in the game is also easily exploitable in other ways and you can set up shop on an enemy ship murdering them just as they spawn over and over until they decide to scuttle the ship or move to a different server.

The whole game really seems to be a missed opportunity to make something a lot more interesting. The non-ship combat is bland, the voyages are repetitive, and the ship combat becomes more of a hassle than it is fun the more people pick up the meta. The level of cosmetics in the game at launch is also laughable for a game that is supposed to be largely about cosmetic customization. I really hope somewhere down the line the game becomes something great but as it stands right now Sea of Thieves is just a mediocre game with cool looking water that can hold your attention for a days of heavy play - a week or two if you play it lightly. Rent or wait on this one for sure - it has the depth of a mud puddle three days after raining.

The bad: There is nearly no content outside of PvP. I don't just mean quests, I mean content. The Battle Field games are PvP only... but they have CONTENT, guns, vehicles, upgrades, equipment, different things to get and or do. In one class alone you have Easily over 30 options between guns and equipment.

    Sea of Thieves has.
4 Weapons, unlocked from the start of the game.
2 Ships, that can not be changed in any game play relevant way.
That's it for character choices... everyone has the same basic kit of stuff at all times otherwise...

There are exactly 3 types of quests, with minor variations, but they are all essentially fetch quests, really basic fetch quests.

Personally I don't mind the quests too much, they are there to move players around so that you can run into each other for pvp. The Ship to Ship pvp in the game is its high point... I can get into very technical critiques of their game balance but the main problems are the lack of variety.

Expand

If you have cyberbuddies and you want to get along, drink some beer while pretending youre playing a game, maybe you can enjoy this thing. Thats all. It is vague, it has terrible gameplay and it is poor on variety. I honestly wonder if these devs actually play any games to tell the difference between a good or a bad (or a disgraceful) game. No damage control nor any politically correct **** discourse on how can games be inclusive could ever save this project.

Im not rating it a 4 or worse because the visuals and songs are ok, it actually has good graphics. But the rest is terrible. No man's sea. Sad.

Sea of Thieves quickly gets very repetitive as it pretty much is get a quest from one of the 3 vendors that the game offers which is the gold hoarder which is get chests, Order of Souls get skulls from past pirate captains & the merchant which is get pigs, gunpowder barrels etc and deliver it back to a certain outpost within a time limit. Once you have got your quest you get on the ship, travel to the island that the game tells you to go to, get the treasure or skull or barrel etc, take it back to the rep vendor and cash it in for gold which can be used to buy cosmetics and a bit of experience which can be used to level up your vendors which will allow you to upgrade them which will give you quests that are slightly harder than the ones that you have previously done, for example longer quests meaning that you have a better chance of getting more chests & skulls to get you more money. Once you have sold your loot that you have got on your adventure you just repeat by buying new quests from the vendors and voting for them on what one you want to do next in your ship.

Even though the game has it's technical issues I feel that Rare is doing a good job communicating with the Sea of Thieves community by releasing developer update videos explaining what the studio plans to do about tacking these issues and keeps us up-to-date via the status page on there forums and twitter.

This is supposed to be one of those games where you "make your own fun" by simply going out there and explore, but the game has to PROVIDE the content to make players have unique experiences, and that's where Sea of Thieves falls way short, at least right now.

I'd go as far as to say the lack of content in this game is embarrassing, it offers a playground that is wide as the ocean.. and deep as a puddle.

The visuals are absolutely stunning and boat mechanics are great fun but sadly the game feels a little hollow, the way that you interact with NPCs seems really sloppy, the text boxes are annoying to navigate through and the lack of voice or cutscene just kills it for me. Would it really have hurt to add in some cutscenes when you speak to the NPCs?

I don't think it's worth the price. 60 dollars is just crazy for this half-full game. I mean the combat is kinda **** the graphics are nothing special, it's definitely lacking in content, and it's not like they had to spend a bunch of money hiring voice actors and writers either lol. It's a scam.

Now, don’t let the comparison to the lousy open-world title from two years ago scare you away - this game is much better. But, the game does have its shortcomings. An overall lack of content at launch is proving to be quite disappointing, as nothing has changed much in terms of the game’s structure since the multiple betas released over the past year. The game is pretty simple; board your ship, steal some treasure, and return said treasure to your homeland. That may sound enjoyable, but for a full-priced $60 game, that’s not enough to satisfy anyone’s hard earned money. Playing with friends is fun, and there is plenty of opportunity for a role-playing style of gameplay, but playing by yourself can get pretty boring. The visual style is impressive, though, and the open-world feel is quite immersive. The mechanics feel natural and not at all clunky, and the experience the game brings when interacting with other players is pretty satisfying. But, with not much to offer at launch, Sea of Thieves is a game best to be bought in the coming months - once more content is released. There is an incredible amount of potential here, and hopefully Rare takes advantage of the great foundation they’ve established with Sea of Theives. Expand

I found the cooperative game play of operating the ship to be very fun and rewarding when narrowly missing a rock or surviving an engagement with another ship but this faded as the game became more routine. A large part of Sea of Thieves relies on other people playing the game and having encounters with them. Launch Day for SOT was absolutely god awful, the servers got so flooded Rare barred new players from joining, and after 3 stress tests over the past month it is unacceptable that launch day was literally unplayable. Some would blame the Xbox Gamepass for the flooded servers, and being that this is the first major Xbox Exclusive to launch as part of gamepass it is very possible they underestimated the amount of people who saved up their two week free trial for Sea of Thieves.

As a kid I played Pirates of The Caribbean Online with my friends and we heavily enjoyed our pirate adventures and I am happy to say Sea of Thieves scratches the pirate itch I've had for years. The graphics mostly the water, are absolutely stunning, my only complaint is the in my opinion, awful looking characters in most cases. For a game based on being YOUR own pirate it is kind of odd that you are stuck with a wonky random character generator, I myself spent 47 minutes trying to find the perfect character model only to not be able to connect to the servers on launch day.

The gameplay is fun solo or with a team as you learn to work together and operate smoothly in combat and how to pull maneuvers like a dogleg to gain an edge in ship battles. At release the game has only a few things the betas didn't, the kraken and certain factions to trade for. I myself haven't encountered a Kraken yet but rumor has it that it's very disappointing. Chest grinding for sure gets boring and the game can become very repetitive however sailing the seas looking for other pirates to plunder or become friends with is extremely fun. Sea of Thieves is a game that you can play for 12 hours if you wish or just pick it up for an hour or 2 after a long days work. Overall the game is good and has great potential but if Rare does not get some fresh content out soon the game will tank.

There is a huge lack of content and the content in the game feels to much the same. It's getting repetitive and boring fast as all three factions give missions that are similar. Take quest, go to island A, get what you need, get back. And when you progress that faction you get another "trickier" quest. Take the quest, solve a clue, go to island A, go to island B, get back... ZzZzZz

Don't get me wrong though. The core in this game as of graphics and mechanics are awesome and with more content, the right content, this game has the potential to be really awesome and fun co-op experience. One could just hope they have much content in the loop for the near feature. If not, the game might be dead before even reaching it's full potential.

I'm also really tired of games that comes out lacking content with the promise to build as they go... Can we just get what we pay for for once? 60US$ should be a content rich game, not just a platform that in the future will expand.

Sea of Thieves is an awesome sandbox that is just shy of greatness.

The engine, the mechanics, the gameplay are all brilliant in Sea of Thieves – sailing is so satisfying that you’re constantly looking to the horizon for an excuse to change direction or go explore something so that you can get your ship there... which leads to the biggest issue right now, there is a lack of content.

I have put in what must be over 30 hours so far, this has been a mixture of 4 man galleon, 2 man sloop and 1 man sloop gameplay (the majority of which has been the latter)… I am currently sat at around level 21, 17 and 14 in the following factions:

Gold Hoarders – they task you with some treasure maps or riddles to find and dig up some buried treasure.
Order of Souls – they throw out some bounties for NPC skeleton pirate crews that need hunting down.
Trade Merchants – They need supplies in certain areas, often live critters like snakes, pigs or chickens and they have a deadline!

These are all fun but arguably could be boiled down to simple “go here, find a thing and take it back” but the thrill of sailing, and the simple mechanics really do make it a fun adventure.

This is very much a story game – not a written narrative, but very much the stories you end up with after an hour long voyage… It’s a game where you can be at the edge of your seat with a galleon pursuing you for your treasure, or be incredibly tense as a little sloop sails by playing their hurdy gurdy as a sign of peace…

My friends and I keep telling fun little stories of events that happened in the game.
If you want a game to both relax and have fun to then this could be it, but it can get hairy at times that’s for sure. If you want a game with a strong focus on teamwork and co-op, then this could be the game for you. If you want a reason to play the game including levelling up, unlockables and collectibles then this is not the game for you – this is a game about an even playing field and having fun. I hope to see more content as I do fear for the ultimate longevity of the game, but so far it’s a really fun adventure waiting to be had.

The player base us largely divided into casual players and aggressive griefers, and the developers have done nothing to enhance the experience of the former. The game-play is extremely satisfying when playing with a full crew of 4 people as you are all working together to sail the ship and while that might sound like an easy task i experienced an intense multiplayer scenario throughout the whole time i was playing. During the first 5 hours of playing the game i found that my crew would not work together and would result in various screaming call outs but like the majority of games the more you play the game the better you will get at the game mechanics and in the later hours of my play time i found that i was able to use a diverse range of strategies with my team such as crashing an unmanned ship into an enemy or outmaneuvering them using the islands placed around the ocean.
The main complaint by people is that it has a lack of content but i think this point is invalid due to it being a sandbox game where you create your own fun unlike other games where it seems like work (Destiny, Eso, Warframe, ect). Often when my friends and I play those games where you just grind we address the activities as "i need to do this" or "I've got to get this later" in sea of thieves its just whatever you want to do.

Sea of thieves could have easily been a BlackFlag clone with crafting and a battle royal mode, however Sea of Thieves lacks this. This is because Rare wanted to create a pirate game, and they did a really good job! I’ve never thought piloting a boat would be as fun as sea of thieves made it to be. This complemented with a grand open world and interesting places to visit really sell the game to fans of such games. I understand the repetition exists and progression is lackluster, however this shouldn’t prevent those who enjoy this type of game from having a blast. To conclude, I believe people who give subpar reviews are incorrect. This game isn’t bad, it just lacks the common machganics incorporated into modern games that retains massive quantities of people, but, for those who enjoy this classic style of make your own adventure game, it’s a masterpiece.
P.s as for a grade, Sea of Thieves is by no means fundamentally broken so it is above a zero, but at the same time there are some possible balance issues with combat and a somewhat lack of replay value since gameplay can sometimes be linear due to simple quests. That’s why I believe a 8/10 is deserved for the hard work from Rare. Hope this helps them get back to making more!

The game is not that bad. It's fun to sail with some friends and have a great time for like 50 hours, but it's only good way to get drunk to death and enjoy these beautiful seas. There is no progression, all changes are only cosmetic which may sound like a good thing for a game which focuses on equality, but you'll quickly see that there is no goal which would be worth of your time.

There are some hints that maybe things improve as you level up in the factions but i'm now doing missions on their 3rd level and the game didn't improve. It would probably improve with friends but you definitely shouldn't go into this by yourself. *wanted to add my thoughts on the progression which looks to be entirely cosmetic based... which would be nice but the game turned into just doing a bunch of boring repeatable fetch quests for hours to paint your weapon blue or put on a coat.

Played it a lot more. After a lot of updates. It's still meh mostly a colossal waste of time. Sometimes it can be fun with a good event and a good pvp battle. But most of the time people just want to waste your time. Should still avoid unless your preferred play-style is to get with a group of friends and try to mess up other peoples days. Besides that you should just avoid.

There are not a lot of things to do here, the sea is almost dead (besides the kraken, that by the way is hugely dissapointing) you can see a shark or a damaged ship to explore but nothing else.

Islands are so small, empty and repetitive that you can't find almost nothing that really inspires you to explore the world.

Progression system is just nonexistent, your rewars for exploring and progressin in the 3 factions is just money to buy clothes and ship pieces that doesnn't even add any gameplay feature to the game ¡everything is just visual stuff!

This is just a shallow game, and it's a shame because the idea is so atractive, but it feels that Rare was just scratching the surface of what the game could have been

Until that point everything had impressed me, so it's safe to say that the skeleton, the core of the whole game is there and it's quality is superlative, but there's not enough content to hold this base. Now there are two separate routes that Rare can follow,

    · or Rare works upon it's magnificent base and introduces the content to make it a great proposal;

    · or Rare decides that this is the final product and they let them as it is.

In this state it is like a beautiful crystal bottle with just poor and cheap wine in the inside. Wanting to be optimistic, it's much easier to add content than to work across all the core of the game. Let's hope for the best, that as it is we have nothing special here.

Expand

Its not bad at all, but I felt like it could've been more fun. I don't hate this game at all, but like I wished Xbox One had a lot of exclusives like the original and 360 had.

Sea of Thieves provides all the necessary tools to the players willing to dive together in great naval adventures, full of smaller quests and epic sea battles.

An amazing world full of promise, but currently rather empty. More updates will be key. [May 2018, p.74]

We have nothing but respect for Rare's vision with Sea of Thieves, but it is a game as likely to chew you up and spit you out, as it is to embrace you. If the wind is in your favour then it can be a delight, but a storm is never far off if you lose momentum. The real test of the quality and efficacy of Rare's plan will be in how it manages to evolve and grow in the weeks and months to come. [Issue#199, p.67]
