I Bought MW3 , installed it to my xbox and went straight into the multiplayer
After 5 hours I removed the disk , put it back in the case and sold it on Amazon.
This game is MW2 with terrible maps and I mean really terrible maps. There isn't a single map that stands out . I am so disappointed with this half hearted rehash of MW2 , I wasn't a massive fan of BLOPS but it's a hell of a lot

So, with each iteration of the game simply increasing what you can do, giving you more choices and customization, why is this now a negative thing? Fans of the Fifa games will buy each yearly game because they are fans of Football, and whilst it may bug them that not enough changes have actually been made, they will still purchase it. This game is no different.

With a game that is, as the User Metacritic score suggests, "Generally unfavourable", why does each and every FPS (with a serious tone) try to emulate the success that Activision and the studios achieve? The industry begs for innovation, and complains when it is not given to them, but when titles come out that give us something new, they fail to sell well at all (Bulletstorm, I'm looking at you). Regardless of whether this game doesn't innovate as much as you would have liked it to, they innovated nearly every aspect of the tried and tested formula with the original MW so, if anything, they deserve a little time to rest and do what they do well; make an addictive multi-player, a coherent single player, and a wealth of customizations.

Haha, gotta love the hate. MW is what it is, nothing more nothing less, until the hardware gets better this is good as it's gonna get. Runs at a crisp 60 fps, still looks sharp (much better that BF3 on 360 imo) If you wanna go out and bust your gun vs. a bunch of juveniles this is the game.

Fun game, the developers know their audience. After the departure of so many employees from Infinity Ward including the heads of the studio, I am sure I wasn't alone in wondering if this game would be able to reach the bar set by its predecessors. It may be fashionable to hate on this game, but if you enjoy the genre, if you finished MW2 wanting more, here it is. Multiplayer is more balanced, single player has been ramped up in the ridiculousness, I like it much, much, more than I wanted to after the less than amicable split between the Activison and West/Zampella. After having played every COD game developed by IW since the original, I was certainly upset that the final chapter of the MW series wouldn't have many of the original guys working on it, but as much as I dislike Activision, they gave this game enough resources to do it justice. It was almost an "all hands on deck" situation it seems. As much as I detest the pace of the release schedule, they have earned a bit of respect from me for not dropping the ball on this game. Expand

Being a Call of Duty fan for some time now I can say that there isn't really anything to improve on which makes it no surprise seeing how this version of Call of Duty plays similar to its predecessors. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it!" The majority of the reviews below give negative feed back that claim it's too similar. The only thing I can conclude is that a majority of these "gamers" were expecting something close to EA's Battlefield 3, but I digress. I have followed the Modern Warfare series campaign story since Call of Duty 4. I was a freshman in high school and I am satisfied with the fact all the pieces come together as it comes to an end while I am a freshman attending college in one of the most adrenaline rushed Call of Duty Campaigns I've played as of yet. I can say I've grown with a lot of the characters in Modern Warfare in a way a child may grow with a characters like Mickey Mouse or Buzz Lightyear. It saddens me to have to see them go. With the multiplayer fallback I have I can only say It feels refreshing to jump back into some online Call of Duty. With New Maps, Weapon Perks and so much more, It's like returning to school after a long summer break with some new kicks, pants and t-shirts. The online is as fun as it's always been, and the campaign, as suspenseful as the last. I tip my hat as always to the developers and say thank you for bringing another one for the record books. - "History is written by the victor"
And the victor is Call of Duty once again. Thank you.

It's a 9, but gets an extra 1 on here for the trolling going on. Think about it. Even if you think the game is a "glorified expansion pack," you are complaining about getting a killer deal: 16 multiplayer maps, survival mode, spec-ops mission and campaign, for $60 retail? At DLC prices, that stuff would separately cost $150 at least.

The only good part is the story, but that is easily spoiled because it is so predictable. The graphics are the same as on CoD 4, which came out 4 years ago. Usually I do not care about graphics but this was just disappointing. I have played about 1h of multiplayer and I am totally sick of it! More campers than ever with a lot of 12 year old kids, way too easy to spawn kill, overpowered weapons etc. I could go on for a whole essay if I would have the energy to. There are a lot of glitches also, of course the game was just released but these are simple, easy glitches that should have been noticed instantly during the beta tests. The maps are all recycled with the same looks as earlier maps, nothing new. I am really disappointed mostly because I waited out in the cold rain for almost 12 hours with my friends and we really were expecting a good game. That this is not. Save your time, go play something else because this is not worth it. At least I can still sell this on eBay for 90% of the money.â

Very, very disappointing. Barely any work put into this game at all. Spawn next to an enemy happens far too frequently and I seem to lose connection a whole lot. The game engine has barely improved since CoD4. They seem to sit back, do as little work possible and just rake in the money because it carries the Call of Duty name. That won't last much longer.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't understand why everyone is slapping down this game? It's a great way to end the story. I tried playing battlefield 3 and it was lacking. We picked up in MW3 right after Soap got stabbed. You then play as Yuri, one of Makarovs men turned to Price and Soaps team after he was shot by Makarov at the Airport mission before you go mow down half of Moscow. You discover this after (Spoiler) the death of Soap. The story is well thought out, the play is typical, however well known, and if you don't give this game an honest look and play, you are missing out. Also, the assault rifles are very overpowered and you will get raped if you dont use them. The maps are average- none of them are amazing. the one bright spot to the game is the special ops mode, where you survive as long as you can against waves of enemies. It was a blast to play with my sister, but i doubt it will stay fun for long to to the repitive nature of the mode. i would recomend to ll people who are thinking about buying the game to rent it first, because the multiplayer is very hit and miss. As i did not play the campaign i am only basing this review over the multiplayer and spec-ops. Overall this game is average, but not terrible. Well, i do have to say MW3 is almost same as MW2. But the single player has a pretty good story line, so it got a 5 rating from me. But the rest, like multiplayer are the same stuff. I would rather buy battlefield 3, which has better graphics and gameplay than MW3.

MW2 was good... untill people found out that they could have unlimited noobtubes. Black Ops was garbo from the start, people where sitting in corners everywhere with ghost and second chance. In the very beginning of black ops when a person would fall into second chance there would be a frame or two where the player would be invincible. I'm serious see for yourself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zltypAJfcu0 . Thankfully Treyarch later fixed this but then came along the infamous "Blop Shot" where a person would fall into second chance w/ their primary. Despite Treyarch's multiple attempts in fixing this, none of them worked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyifsnEsnuY . This plus EVERYBODY sitting in the corner threw me over the edge. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a ray of hope appeared, MW3! Now some people like to be cute and call it "Modern Warfare 2.5 or A patch for MW2." I will be the first to tell you that this is quite the opposite of "Modern Warfare 2.5" Alot of BF fanboys like to use their excuse that they have a beastly state-of-the-art brand new Frostbite 2 engine and we are still running on the same engine as mw2. IW 4.0 (the engine of MW2) was very new at it's time. The IW 5.0 (MW3's engine) may only be a tweaked version of IW 4.0 but there is a noticable difference. The gun sounds have changed and sound sooo much better. The graphics are noticeably better. The weapons are balanced, and unlike previous call of duty's I can get into a gun fight and have a fair chance of winning it. Overall the multiplayer is great! Expand

I am very disappointed in this game. The spawning is the worst I have ever seen, the minute you get a kill someone who spawned behind you is shooting you in the back, the lag is horrible, I keep hearing something about lag compensation? whatever it is it made the game worse. Their are already 10th prestige lobbies!

i am reading now how Sledge Hammer Games is begging people that like the game to go to Metacritic and give a good review because their ratings are so low, how pathetic is that? Their are loads of people on the Modern warfare 3 website asking for the developer to give them some feedback about all the issues and what their plans are to fix it, I have yet to see any response from the developer giving any re-assurance to their customers that it is being looked into.

The reason why people are still playing the game is because it is new and they haven't given up on it yet, but if it doesn't get fixed it will be in that big metal box at Best Buy in front of the checkouts with a $9.99 price tag!

The reason this game had record sale was because of the millions in crafty advertising, and the paid for critic reviews they get by giving out free game copies.

I will hang on to my copy in hopes that Sledge Hammer an Activision step up to the plate and fix this, but if they don't, it will be the last product I buy from either of these developers.

There is no balance to the game either, in order to win you need to use an assault rifle with a high rate of fire after that nothing else matters. I'd read that a dev from sledgehammer games has been begging for positive reviews, well he needs to as the game is simply not good. MW2 for me was awesome, but when playing MW3 you can tell that its not the same people behind the game.

A lot of excitement was in the air and once I received the game I couldn't wait to stick in my xbox and give it a go. The first thing I tried when I started the game was multiplayer. In the multiplayer physics had been improved slightly and things looked a lot more polished. Maps have also been made larger than previous titles which is a welcome change. However, after playing the multiplayer for quite a while now I find myself frustrated and disappointed by the maps. They seem to have made an effort to stop campers and snipers more on this game but with that they have made the matches very frustrating. even when you think you are in a relatively safe area, there are actually 3 or 4 angles where you can be shot from. In addition there are not really any maps that I can call my favorite on this Call of Duty. On Black Ops I had a few (Firing Range, Jungle and Summit) but these maps provide nothing special.

On the other hand, there are some great weapons in the multiplayer and the new perks and weapons upgrades make it very easy to tailor the multiplayer to your style. The campaign has also disappointed me this time. The storyline is very predictable and the last mission just turns into button mashing for to end the story. I could rant forever about my disappointment about this game but I will summarize. There was a lot that could have been done with the game and in the end it has let me down. Despite this I cannot stop playing. Maybe its down to the £90 I spent on it...

The shooting mechanics are still solid (not enough variety in weapons though), but on a technical level, this one's a full-on 'Monet' - from far away it's okay, but up close it's a big ol' mess. Those were some very flat, cardboard-y skyscrapers in New York.

I'm old enough to remember when multiplayer was the yummy side dish which complemented the meaty single player main course. I neither want to be called a 'noob' or be 'pwned'.

Still, congrats on a well-executed media event (drips with sarcasm)... but can my £40 buy me an actual game next time?

Air-support is pretty much useless now that point streaks can be earned through shooting them down. I was really looking forward to a NEW call of duty. Instead we got an expansion pack of MW2, new guns, some new crappy maps, and crappy killstreaks. The best part of this game was the campaign. I guess since they just took the MW2 multiplayer and put it in MW3 they had alot more time to focus on the campaign. I have a great analogy, MW3 is like the iPhone 4S, tons of hype for a new game, and something refreshing, but instead you get minor upgrades but the product itself is identical. We have the giant explosive set pieces that we grew to love in this games predecessors, that used to leave us in awe wanting more, but now we find ourselves bored and weary of this repetitive formula that Activision has churned out. The younger generation will find themselves jumping straight into the multiplayer and turning a blind eye to the campaign for a few months to come, and will most likely be satisfied with screeching at other players for their superior play style and on the other hand, shouting 'noob' at the top of their voice when they've secured the game winning kill.

For the rest of us, however, this is a different story. Where we find ourselves staring at what seems to be just a shameless copy of Modern Warfare 2, whilst complacent Activision and their new counterpart Sledgehammer Games are sleeping in their piles of money, not giving a toss about what the user base wants. I even think Sledgehammer's studio head, Glen Schofield, cry for help was just a stunt to get its loyal fanbase of under 16's to up its metacritic score to help him sleep in his piles of money at night.

However, I can see some good coming from the biggest entertainment launch event of all time. I can see a revolution, where gamers will eventually stand up to the money making machines and say 'Enough is enough', and demand some innovation and ingenuity from the people that are making billions of dollars from their pockets. Maybe we will eventually see 'reviewers' actually giving a game an honest view based on the pioneering qualities of a game, rather than what the fan base, and studios, want to hear. Maybe we will see studios realising that using the same recycled code and graphics with the same linear storyline over and over, isn't productive (I mean, what else can they be doing with their time?) and needs to stop.

This game is now the most grossing game of all time. And what did you get for your time and money. Well for most of us we got what we expected. The game is VERY similar to previous renditions. The game is so similar that many of who love the series are very disappointed in the fact so much has improved over the previous releases. You can go into much debate over the positive and negative of each title released. However, much to be said is that there was always things that improved. I would say that COD4 was a breakthrough and even MW2 was revolutionary in many ways. Black Ops brought us the "Currency System" of buying your perks and weapons and for some that was huge and a great add-on. But mainly you saw improvements that have become staples. Examples:
COD4 - First "Modern" war shooter for the series and really moved the genre forward to that. Think of it this way, how many WWII shooters exist these days. World at War - Introduced us to Zombies and who would have though they would be so addicting. Modern Warfare 2 - Brought us back to the Modern shooter and added some much needed improvements to the game play (Except for Quick Scoping - which is short for "I cant aim")
Black Ops - This brought us the Wager Matches and who would have thought playing games like Gun Game, Sharpshooter, One in the Chamber and Sticks and Stones would be so much fun. They also started the ability to Split Screen online. This was huge for those with families and multiple people wanting play at the same time.
Modern Warfare 3 - Kill Confirmed and Team Defend which are nice and have their positives. I think everyone like the campers being gone in Kill Confirmed and Team Defend has its positives when playing with friends. So what else did MW3 bring us. "Survival Mode" - No wait, that is Zombies in the modern war style. "Wager Matches" - No, these came from Black Ops. "Split Screen" - No that was from Black Ops too. "Modern Shooter" - No, this is from several renditions now. So really all we got was two new game modes. Taking the same weapons and adding a few new ones with a little shuffling of the perks does not make a game. It makes an Expansion. Let's look at Multiplayer and see what we have. First of all the Balancing of Weapons is way out of wack. You should not be able to snipe someone from across the map with a LMG in 3-5 shots. That is not possible. You should not have people aiming down the sights and turning a corner and getting a head shot when you were barely spawned and they have no radar or UAV up. Can you say "Aimbot" and cheating? To see MW2 aimbots working with MW3 on release day says they didn't even think to fix them. I can't believe the developers don't surf the websites and download all of the aimbots and think to patch them so they don't work. The maps are the same scene over and over again. A city scene, a bazaar, a city scene, a warehouse, a city scene with a downed helicopter. Really? In the previous releases we have been to the jungle, a ship deck, warehouses, cities, container yards, training setups with plywood, etc. Lets have some imagination again. With the weapons so over powered, the cheats in use so early, bad map designs and bad spawn locations you get very frustrated with the game. I know, so you are doing good in the game and disagree. Well I am a better then average player. I maintain a typical 1.2 Kill/Death ratio in most releases and so far in Modern Warfare 3 I have a .5 K/D. I think there is something wrong in that. The real crazy thing is I have about a dozen friends (Online and in real life) that are similar players or much better and none of them have a K/D over .7 and are complaining about the same things. Some of them have K/D ratios above 3.0. Then take the leader boards for Accuracy in MW3, and explain to me how the first 250+ people have a 100% accuracy. How is that possible? There is nobody that good and they should all be checked for cheating. Since Elite records all games it should be easy to watch the game and see they cheated. Really 30-0 in a TDM game. Is that possible without a hack? Most will say it is not.

Now you have the developers going on Twitter and asking "Fans" to come to Metacritic and "Boost" the user score. Really? If your product is good you will get a good score. Even if it starts out negative, as those who play it see its good they will balance out the score on their own. But if you have to ask your fan base to boost the score, you know you did something wrong. In my humble opinion, Activision screwed up in letting the two original IW developers go and they got a second rate person to handle the MW3 development team and such they got a second rate product. For me the release was something I looked forward too.

Someone obviously loved using the copy/paste tool because there were hundreds of models littered around the map making the flow of the multiplayer very difficult. Even for a person with a keen eye, it's difficult to keep an eye out when you have obstacles every other few cm in your way. The levels were really frustrating as a result of this.

Stealthing is very hard. I'm not a camper but the UAV's coming in every second and heavy footsteps even when crouching made it very hard to approach an enemy comfortably nested in the corner. Because levelling up takes a long time, you don't get to unlock anything of any benefit until at least around level 40, which is probably about 12-15 hours of game play!

Until then, you're a deer in the middle of a stampede, you're Simba in The Lion King (you know the sad scene where he is almost trampled). You're fubarred.

I understand it is a different developer from Black Ops, but gee, they could have at least taken some good ideas. The matchmaking for one, the fact it doesn't constantly spawn you RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE ENEMY and then spawn them RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU at critical moments! I think I waited about 15 seconds a time to spawn and instantly be killed for about 6 or 7 times in capture the flag at one point!

Oh, they didn't include locale match making too. It was great when I could play against people with connections closer by, when lag was less frequent and you could see enemies before they saw you. I'm in the UK and I'm guessing mostly Americans play this, which is great for them but not for us Europeans who have to send data to the states and back!

What's with the support packages as well? Do we really need a UAV called in every few seconds?

The multiplayer, being the core reason most people will buy the game, is very similar to MW2, and took out a lot of the things Black Ops had (credit system, the way the killstreaks work), which makes sense given the transition in developers between games. My biggest complaint regarding the maps is many of them are flat, yet have so many corners that it is almost impossible to not just spray and pray around every corner just to protect yourself. I'm assuming that means IW is taking the DLC route to address this with better maps. Still, it doesn't deserve the score it is getting from many, its a competent shooter and deserves a play through if you want some quick action in your FPS games. Expand

Survival mode is a feature that has been added in this year and to be honest, as a big fan of WAW and BLOPS zombies i thought it would try to be too much like that and fail, put simply it's not the same, and it's great in its own right. The multiplayer, obviously without changing massively, has some new perks and guns but to be completely fair is a little of the same, but that in itself has allowed it to be polished to a high standard, it will NEVER be everyone's cup of tea, but then again what will all I know is it's my cup of tea and my favourite multiplayer by far! I'm writing this review in response to a tweet made by Sledgehammer Games to get its fans to raise this user score on Metacritic. I think this game deserves an honest review so Activision knows how some of us truely feel about its Modern Warfare franchise to this point.

If you don't know anything about the drama going on between Jason West and Vince Zampella vs. Activision, then I suggest you do some catching up at IGN.com. Do a search on IGN.com about the lawsuit going on between these two guys (the original creators behind the Modern Warfare series) and Activision to learn more.

Once you know what's going on in this lawsuit, you will then know that MW3 was not made by the original creators of the Modern Warfare series. Actually its something like 30 of the top developers left Invinity Ward to go work with Zimpella and West over at Electronic Arts. So none of the top talent behind the series worked on MW3.

So in my opinion this is why we have a game that is no different, if not less, than what came with MW2 (graphics, controls, maps, story, spec ops, etc.). This is why the game brings nothing new to the table.

I agree with most of the users on this site in that this game is no more than MW2 2.5. I think Activision should have done something different with the this game. They should have realized that there's no way any team could have lived up to Zimpella and West's standard and creativity in such a short period of time.

What they should have done is made this game a summary of the Modern Warfare series on the these systems. They should have made a game that sort of paid tribute to the series and gotten themselves ready for MW3 on the new systems coming in a few years.

They could put this game out with all the fixes that annoyed people, included all the map from MW1 and MW2, included all spec ops missions, and just straight blew out of the multiplayer experience, really paying tribute to the entire series. And then maybe had a trailer that announced MW3 for XBOX 720 and PS4. I think doing this would have given Activision the time it needed to find a team that could really put something out that lives up to the standards we all expect from the MW series. But I still give it a good review. You should still buy the game because its still a solid experience and the multiplayer is still good, but not great. The multiplayer does feel a little slimmed down compared to its predecessor but it doesn't deserve a zero. I give the game an 8.0. I will give Activision another chance with the next Modern Warfare. I also can't wait to see what Zimpella and West are up to.

My review will be broken down in three branches, one for each of the three main sections of the game. As everyone else giving a review has pointed out, MW3 was built using the same engine was MW2, and because of that, the visuals aren't what you'd expect from the third game in series (I'm talking Modern Warfare series, not the Call of Duty series in general) . The graphics do look a bit more polished, but that is most likely do to the artists, then the engine drawing them. Campaign: I just finished the campaign on Veteran difficulty. The campaign in terms of story is by far one of the best I have ever played in the Call of Duty franchise, but that is not to say I couldn't predict it either. On the final missions, the music is so perfectly made for the scene that it boosts up what would otherwise be a lackluster finale to the series. All together though, the campaign took me for a ride that I will never forget, at the end of it, I did actually feel very entertained and amazed. However, the atrocities that has plagued every Modern Warfare game still exists in MW3, by which I mean, enemies will disregard their own safety to rush past your A.I teammates and charge for you, and only you. The enemies know where you are, and if in view will shoot only for you and not at your other A.I teammates. Your A.I teammates aren't intelligent by any means, even on Veteran difficulty they are terrible accuracy. Perhaps the most annoying thing though is the fact that the enemies will infinitely spawn from doors and behind buildings unless you continue to move up, if you sit back you eventually will die from running low on ammo. Special Ops:Special Ops was a new feature to MW2, and it was a brilliant innovation to the series, Infinity Ward and Sledge Hammer Games didn't break the imagine barrier here, they added their own version of Zombies, a Treyarch signature. MW3 has taken that idea and brought it into the Modern Warfare perspective by instead of zombies, it's wave after wave of increasingly difficult soldiers. They added a couple new features like being able to buy perks and artillery, but it isn't anything new to the franchise, it's a mix from Treyarch's zombies and GOW's Horde 2.0 fortifications in my personal opinion. The rest of Spec Ops allows you to either go in alone, or team up with a buddy to do a variety of missions taken from the campaign or specially created for Spec Ops and try and beat them for, both to earn stars (get all stars to get an achievement) and beat times set by your friends. Multiplayer: Obviously if you're buying a CoD game, you aren't just buying it for the story line, you are buying it to play some good old competitive multiplayer. As one reviewer put it, it looks and feels like MW 2.5, and I'd agree, I do feel like I dropped 60 dollars for new maps, that's about it. Sure you do have some new guns and perks, but that doesn't constitute the money I put down for it. They tried to do too much with the maps this time around, their are about five different ways to go to any one spot, or in any one alleyway you may be running down and the the chances that someone isn't waiting for you, or will spot you is low, and it gets aggravating very quickly. Two of my personal problems with the game are, they split up the Sleight of Hand Pro ability from Modern Warfare 2, and put it's base ability and pro ability into two separate perks. They also took out Stopping Power, my personal favorite perk, why I don't know, perhaps to balance the game, but even still the game is very very much unbalanced. There are definitively certain guns that are better than others, and without Stopping Power if it's a bad gun, unfortunately it's a bad gun now, because without extra damage you won't kill anyone. Lag is a problem this time around, I've shot at a guy with the same gun as me, only to hit him first, but still die because my other bullets didn't register. The Strike Packages are terrible and not thought through at all, the Support Package where your kill streaks don't reset on death is a nice idea, but bad implementation. UAV's are CONSTANTLY being called in a match, it's very aggravating, also stealth bombers are apart of the Support Package, I don't understand that implementation either. If the Support Package actually did only Support it'd be nice, but with stealth bombers and advanced UAVs, not using it when you know you can get at least 9 kills a game is stupidity. When you think about it, a new CoD has come out yearly with the same fast paced action formula, so the fact that the latest in the series didn't change much shouldn't be that big of a surprise to anyone. I'm giving it a 7 out of 10, for being what MW2 should have been. Expand

As stated in presentation, the campaign story is not very good, but the environments are varied and detailed. The developers should have taken some cues from the last game of the franchise and removed the action button prompt in cutscenes; it ruins the flow of the game. The multiplayer is well balanced, but contains so many lag related issues it is unplayable competitively. Spec Ops is improved with more missions and survival mode.

In that time I was impressed by CoD, amazed by CoD2, annoyed by CoD3, before being totally astounded by CoD4: Modern Warfare. That game was fresh, innovative and it grabbed the initiative from the host of WW2 shooters that defined that period. Since then, Activision have sucked the life out of this franchise with a number of boneheaded decisions like annualising the series, farming the title out to studios with no connection to the franchise at all, mistreatment of Infinty Ward's creative team who saw the project from "birth" to becoming the biggest game series ever. However, for me atleast, their single biggest mistake was to fail to innovate. This is basically a map pack from COD4, same graphics, same physics, same weapons, same character skins, same structure. I fail to see how they can possibly have spent 2 years and millions/billions of dollars on this game. For that kind of money there should be an entirely new engine for the game to bring this into the modern world. Instead of creating a truly innovative product Activision and whats left of Infinity Ward are happy to take your money, lots of your money and put out a substandard product thats so wide of the mark its silly. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money and for gods sake go and buy Battlefield or Skyrim as they are far more deserving of your money. Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
