Don't play dumb, you knew what you were getting when you purchased this game. That being said, the multiplayer is fantastic, taking everything good from MW2 and Black Ops and making a few minor tweaks (Noob tubes are much less powerful, Perks are more evenly balanced etc). An item worth note though is the restructuring of the weapons. Every gun you use feels like it has the ability to beat all the others, all of the weapons are balanced so well and there's real reward in trying out new weapons and leveling each up. If you're a multiplayer fan you won't be disappointed and if you're buying it for the Campaign stick to Skyrim. Expand

Being able to level up as easily as the kill to death ratio guys just by completing objectives is great. Kill confirm is addictive as hell. And weapons perks and leveling up single guns makes things easier and something to strive for. No more just leveling up to get the next gun and switching between whats newly earned. I actually care about one gun and how much I can make it the gun that works solely for myself. Half way through the campaign, and it's white knuckle intense. Every new mission is something I've looked forward to just to see how they can top the last one. I love the spectacle of it all. Like the best action movie ever. If it ain't broke don't fix it! That seems to be the COD way, and it works extremely well! Love The Single player campaign, Multiplayer is even better with Kill Confirmed mode, and I like that that feature was added to Ground War. Spec ops is addictive, and the Survival Mode proves that. Great Job!

After waking up from the coma BattleField 3 put me in thank god there is a game that has action, is fast paced, and fun to play. The multi-player isn't as good as MW2 but it is still pretty good. The campaign is solid and delivers what is expected.

Tried this game in a store on a console and was COMPLETELY convinced I was playing MW2 the entire time. this game is an insult to the gaming community, it's a digital Bigmac; it smells and looks pretty tasty but after you've had a taste you just want to puke.

There is a clear case of "fanboyism" that allows this franchise to continue to perform as well as it does and that is simply because fans of the series don't care about innovation, individualism or any other aspect of game design, they simply want to shoot loud guns and see gruesome kills. Call of Duty's publishers should be ashamed that they are clearly only interested in milking franchises for as much money as they could possible get from consumers. However the blame clearly lies in the consumers and the fact that some people are willing to lay down hard earned dollars on the counter for the same game recycled again and again. I for one am done with Call of Duty and will happily not be looking back. Expand

Beyond bad. Maps are too small. Too much clutter on most maps. Lag is ridiculous. Animations are a joke.

I have been a COD player since COD 2 on PC, and have loved the franchise even though the complete rehash that was MW2. I hoped something would change. I was sadly mistaken.

Battlefield 3, here I come. This stale piece of **** game is the death of a franchise.

Really this game is Moder Warfere "3"; I cant believe its another game. It feels too much like MW2 DLC. The gameplay is equal, the history is very "cliche" and predictable, and the multiplayer is the same of the last 4 games... really? I think this "Call of Duty" will die like "Guitar Hero". I will save in my memory CoD 2 and 4. The others are only DLCs with a full-game cost.

The multiplayer is great too. Not as out of control as MW2 killstreaks, and the guns are a lot of fun. Basically, if you like Call of Duty style games, this is the best one yet.

I heard about the incredibly unbalanced user score that MW3 has received on Metacritic from IGN, and decided to create a Metacritic account just to give an unbiased and objective review and score. And to help even out this Very low score for an obviously above average game, I mean sure MW3 is not perfect but 3.1 out of ten is bull***t. First off I would like to state that I am not a COD Fan Boy and not a little kid, I'm a hardcore gamer that has been playing games since the early nineties. I play all manner of games on PC and PS3 and have also bought MW3's main competitor BF3. I have played about 30 hours on BF3's Multiplayer and have a 3.30 Kill/Death Ratio so am no noob when it comes to FPS. Even so I was disappointed with the overall products of both Battlefied 3 (which got boring faster than expected) and MW3. In the end I scored MW3 8 out of 10. It is very similar to MW2 but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The Singleplayer was OK, similar to the last two Modern Warfare's (overall uneventfull and boring with only some good bits) Spec Ops Missions are fun and exciting, especially if you have a friend to play them with and Spec Ops New Survival Mode is great addictive fun and a good addition to the series, I would say, and this is just my opinion that this is better than Zombies (playing with a mic is essential). Than you have Multiplayer which love it or hate it is pretty much the same as MW2 but with Strike Pakages, different killstreaks and different variations on old perks, some new guns and some new maps and game modes. Noob tubing, Nuke Killstreak and One Man Army Perk are gone but Quikscoping and Drop Shoting are still the order of the day. Also Spawn Deaths, Hit Detaction and Lag Issues can become a bit annoying. But with a half Decent Connection, a bit of skill and a touch of class you should be able to overcome these shotcomings to have one of the sweetest FPS Online Gaming experiences you can have at this time. I won't lie somtimes the multiplayer can have you screaming at the TV about the injustice of the last 5 Cheap deaths that made no sense whatsoever. But with a bit of patience even without the Elite Functions you get to know the layout of the maps, the spawn points, choke points, best class layouts for specific situations and maps. You will receive better weapons and figure out which strike package work best for you, and then your experience will start getting better. And to everyone saying COD is unbalanced that's BS, because there is a strategy and counter for everything your adversaries can throw at you. So after everything is said and done what it really comes down to is skill (and who has more of it). Overall, taken all the features packed into this one game and the weeks and possibly months of enjoyment that can be had, it's impossible for me to see how this game can receive a score below an 8 let alone a 5. If your a fan of FPS or games in general this a great addition to your game collection. Definately not MW2 DLC, and for only $50 to $100 are you that poor/cheap to complain about purchasing a great game and depriving yourself of fun just because a bunch of pathetic PC BF3 Fanboy Sheep/Followers decided to flood this site with negative reviews. It's Up To You. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hi I have read a lot of damaging reviews on this game and a lot seem written by anti cod gamers, and fanboys of other games, (not mentioning names)

Firstly, The graphics are great, sure its no frosbite 2 or cry engine 3, but honestly bf3 doesn't look mindblowing on console, I own it for xb360 and pc, and its worthy of all titles on pc, on xbox howerver still a great game but nowhere near polished as pc,
Back to cod, the engine may be old, but it works, 1080p 60fps and looks and moves great, better than other games in the fps genre on xbox,
The story is among the best out there with Michael bay levels of cinematic action, sure its a little on rails and sure enemies spawn like mad, but still entertaining and fun, not as long as I'd of hoped for but good noneless with some amazing scenes like the airplane level, sheer brilliance.

Spec ops play is cod's answer to horde mode, adding another layer of depth to an exiting mode from mw2 so another plus, But the multiplayer is where it is shining, quickscoping makes a frustrating return, some dissconnection issues but infrequent enough to pose a problem, sure the kids who ruin cod are back with rapid fire controllers jump drop shot mods, and I'm sure iv seen one hacked player on launch night with 8th prestige at 00:15 from the UK! But as in black ops we have the means to report players for these things and vid capture is the evidence needed, I'm sure after 1 or 2 updates this game will be perfect, its amazing as it is now, I like the smooth but fast pace to the game, guns feel dangerous, and killstreaks are now availible in different guises thanks to strike packages such as support mode, never again will a camper ruin your stealth bomber! Because all actions from assists and captures count and roll over to your support streaks! New modes like kill confirmed add some fresh fun to the stacked playlist as well as all your favourite hardcore varients, It would have been nice to see the return of 3rd person modes as they allow you to appreciate the great detail and animation of the game.
Levelling up is not a chore no more, your weapons have profficencys which adds to your persistence too.

Overall its level design and fast pace lend back to the the best cod ever cod 4! But with fresh ideas better graphics its a massive improvement from Cods of late, Don't get me wrong I loved black ops, loved WaW until hackers ruined it, I loved mw2 but my favourite was still cod 4! Now obvious comparisons to battlefield are ineviteable but pointless, they are 2 different games, they look feel and play different but are equally as good in my opinion but for different reasons, Realistically this has more to keep you playing than bf3 due to spec ops and a addictive levelling system

My only downpoints are Quickscoping! Get rid of it or make a specific game mode for it!
I'd like to see what is possible from activision sledgehammer etc with a new engine, as good as this is, it will begin to fall behind! Get elite fixed as I purchased the hardened ed!

This game was a bit boring. Graphics engine seemed a little dated and Multiplayer kept crashing. I much prefer Battlefield 3. I also noticed that the xbox-360 version seemed to be a bit clippy, with the frame-rate dropping quite a lot. Compared to my friend's ps3 version the graphics were much worse too, with the textures being a real disappointment. Also the sound was very 'tinny'.

I am highly disappointed in this installment of the series. I am mainly interested in the multiplayer aspect of the game, so that is where I will focus: The maps are a jumbled mess. Every map feels like the same maze with different paint. From an objective-based perspective, you spend more time navigating the maze to reach an objective than you do assaulting or defending it.

    Much hate

Every map feels like the same maze with different paint. From an objective-based perspective, you spend more time navigating the maze to reach an objective than you do assaulting or defending it.

Much hate for bringing back Quickscoping. I know the fanbois love it, and they can feel like "real men" by pwning somebody with a sniper rifle, but it ruins a multiplayer game for me. In 3 hours of gameplay, I was quickscoped from across the map 9 times. A sniper rifle should be made to function as a sniper rifle, plain and simple. And don't get me started on the wannabes running around with the sniper rifle like an assault rifle. It should be nigh impossible to charge an objective with a scoped rifle and take out 4 defenders using submachine guns. But, in their infinite wisdom, the developers have catered to the fanbois again, and made qs even easier than before.

The graphics are... eh. Nothing eye-catching, but nothing horrible, either. It's just standard, run-of-the-mill scenery. Can't say I hate it, but wouldn't say I like it, either.

The lack of realism is offensive. Landing 9 shots from ANY gun should drop anyone but the Juggernaut, but this isn't the case. I can't count the number of times I've emptied a clip from the MP5 into someone, only to have them spin 180 degrees and drop me with one or two shots from their assault rifle.

The number of killstreak rewards bombarding the playing field is incredibly stupid. Running the Support class, you continue gaining your killstreaks THROUGH YOUR DEATHS. While this seems great in the beginning, it gets old quite quickly. You are constantly on someone's radar, and when you aren't, you are being hammered by Reaper rockets or other high-explosives.

The sound is horrible. Even running turtlebeaches, 9 times out of 10 you can't hear someone sprinting up behind you for a knife kill.

Anyway, there is much more I could complain about, including lag issues, matchmaking, and lack of originality, but I won't. Suffice to say, I'll probably make this my LAST Call of Duty purchase.

So glad that I rented this game instead on buying it, and I feel sorry for all the people who shelled out 60 bucks for what is basically a map pack. FYI I played BF3 so no comment on that. Game Summary = Run around in a circle, in a flat square box of a level and shoot people till you die. Rinse and Repeat.

Skip COD: MW3 this year and go for Battlefield 3 instead.

Can't comment on the campain becuase it gets boring quickly and havent really played it.

To end on a good note though....I really like the new Killstreak system. There are no three types of Killstreak systems. One is the normal one, two is one that persists through death but with weaker killstreaks, three is one that lets you get more perks with kills rather than killstreaks.

That being said, the MP does get a bit too frantic and can be very frustrating due to the tiny maps that reward people who run laps around them. Kill confirmed and some of the new playtypes are a happy addition to the sometimes monotonous team deathmatch. Overall I wish IW branched out a little bit and added some bigger maps and more options for those who do not always want to run and gun. Although easier to get into and less tedious than BF3's maps and MP, MW3 can learn a thing or two from their main competition.

Either way, if you are a fan of shooters and have a high tolerance to being overwhelmed occasionally in MP, then get MW3. Too many people are just rating the game a 0 b/c they want it to fail, not b/c it is a bad game. This metacritic rating system is flawed, but hopefully enough rational individuals will give their honest opinion instead of just bombarding the ratings with 0's.

I personally took a break and didn't buy Black Ops as I had burnt out on MW2. I had thought that with new blood at Infinity Ward they would continue to move the series forward, but instead they moved a bunch of stuff around, renamed some other stuff and added very little that's actually "new". I feel like this is an alternate reality in which Black Ops didn't exist, instead of building off the improvements that game made they used MW2 as a base and built off of that. That's all fine and well, but the problem is that Black Ops DID exist and already made improvements to some of the systems MW2 and 3 use. So while MW3 isn't a bad game by any means, it isn't particularly innovative or exciting either. Expand

Well, thats not going to happen, I cant believe the utter mess they made of this game. It plays alright, some of the new stuff is ok such as the support kill streaks, I even like some of the changes they made here and there.

However, they need to seriously find some new programmers to make maps as they are HORRENDOUS, and for all the good points the game has, they are rendered quite irrelevant when the maps you play the game on are the worst I have seen. Small, cluttered, they are just a cluster f*** of garbage. All that happens now is your playing Quake with machine guns. I have tried and tried to get into this, but I just cant get past how bad the maps are. Now im considering trading this in Friday for Skyrim, and I will go back to BF3 for my multiplayer fix. On the good side, it did remind me of how much fun the playstyle of CoD games is, and im quite tempted to go back to Black Ops (which I played alot of till about last March). But this game, nope, sorry Activision you messed it up.

I do enjoy the CoD playstyle, remembering how fun it is getting killstreaks, little perks. But I couldnt recommend this game to anyone. IF you love these military type of multiplayer games, try Battlefield 3. Or if you prefer the Call of Duty type of game play pick up Black Ops for probably half the price of this, as its much more enjoyable.

Though there is some kind of conspiracy to give this game as low as score as possible, its not a 3.0 game (as of posting this), but its also not a 90 score game either. I'll give it a 5 as its a good game in a bad enviroment (the maps let it down so much). One last thing to mention, if you enjoy only the single player of these games it ight be worth a look and I'd give that a 6 or 7 out of 10. Where as BF3's is rubbish. But dont expect to get your £40/$60 worth from this if your only interested in buying it for the single player, its short and doesnt do anything new.

Ok this is the huge gripe I have with the game. There was all this talk about overhauling how MP functions but really all I've seen is increasing the amount of carrot on a stick farming the game requires. Seriously, to place requirements on ATTACHMENTS just adds so much more of a grindy feel. Black Ops had the right idea, where you levelled up and unlocked guns and all you had to do was purchase the attachments you wanted. NOW you have to level up to get the gun, then level up the gun to get the attachment. WTF is that? That's a level of uneccesary farming stacked on top of going prestige.
CoD Elite? wow it's the same thing as Bungie's stat tracking big deal, nothing new.
Graphics, I find the game to look a great deal more polished than Black Ops which is good. But it really is no Battlefield 3/Crysis/Uncharted 3/etc. If your not expecting anything jaw-droppingly nice then I guess the graphics wont bug you. I have to wonder though, is reusing the MW2 enginge AND developing for 6-7 year old consoles really worth the sacrifice anymore?

Sound: Really piss poor weapon sounds, just a complete recycling of MW2 sounds, which I disliked. Good thing about it though are the sound of footsteps which resonate quite clearly.

I call this the 60$ expansion pack to MW2. The single player campaign is worth playing and picks off where left off for MW2, however the multiplayer is what you come to expect from the ever so popular franchise. Kill confirm is something a little different than other games on the market but instead of inspiring players to work together, it feels like the exact opposite. This being the case that on multiple maps feel like there is a small standstill at times due to the camping and collecting these tags. The pace of multiplayer speeds up with team defender which doubles points of kills while holding a flag. In all honesty, these two ideas felt like a call for help with the multiplayer hitting its limit of capabilities. Graphics are exactly what to expect for a console FPS, perhaps equal to that of BF3 for consoles. After looking at reviews for this game from USA today and other news sources, I almost felt like there was something that IW/BA forgot to put in my game due to the way I feel about the actual performance of the game. The game also renamed functions such as killstreaks to pointstreaks, which can be earned multiple ways such as completing the objective or killing someone. This leads me to the coop player/unlock system of purchasing, instead of leveling, of weapons, ammo, etc... It's hard for me to go more in depth as the multiplayer is nothing special and is in need of a PC like platform to support more than the seemingly tiny amount already in place. It's competitor, Battlefield 3, has kicked it up a notch for multiplayer for PC with absolutely stunning graphics, 64 players, tons of vehicles and weapons kicks Modern Warfare 3 in the teeth and it feels evident with the gameplay that IW tried last minute add-in's that didn't quite work out to draw fans away from EA's BattleFields 3.

I was a huge fan of Modern Warfare 2 and came in with standard that surpassed in a few areas but still was let down in others. I don't blame the developers as much as the technology that Xbox & ps3 uses is a little more than just a few years old. To me the game feels more like a culture statement than an actual game due to the constant advertisements rolling on the TV, billboard, and shopping mall advertisements that hype up the game for non to occasional gamers category yet is the "same game, different name" category for me. It is worth 60% of the 60$...So 36$.

Bottom Line: A good game, however the phrase I use "same game, different name" applies. That being said, still worth a crack at it but not as addictive as MW2/BF3 felt to me.

For example, the graphics and gameplay are EXACTLY the same as MW2. dissapointing. the only thing that was changed was the killstreak rewards and maps. and get this, the maps are even worse than they before. very small and maze like garbage. another great dissapointment. If you made the mistake of buying this trash, i HIGHLY, 100% recommend selling it back in to get BF3. BF3 is a great game that deserves real 4.5 to 5 star reviews. In BF3 the graphics are better, the gameplay is better, its MUCH more realistic. theres a Huge selection of weaponry and vehicles. Hey guess what? in BF3 theres none of those little 10 year old campers that dont have the skill to get on their feet and actually get real kills, because if there is one, you blow the whole freakin building down on them. the maps are also MASSIVE in BF3, but MW3, no the maps are tiny and terrible. When i played the beta in BF3, it was all glitchy but still fun, but then i played the real game, it was amazing. they fixed everything. well thats my comparison, this review is based mostly off of facts not opinions. so take this review into consideration and GO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!! Sure there are the OMG moments like all Call of Duty games but its nothing that stands out soon after the moment is gone. You soon begin to notice there are A LOT more NPC enemies then previous games. Because of this the AI does not know how to respond. You will notice them all bunching up into a pile and you just mowing them down with whatever gun you have in hand. There simply is not enough cover for them. With that being said what kind of cover does that leave you. As for the story its nowhere near as Intelligent of a story that MW2 gave its MATURE audiance. In MW2 you actually cared about the characters. When main characters died it was an important event. Not just a "well yep it happened". By the way it took me 4h:30min to finish this campaign. ***Multiplayer*** This is the most disappointing aspect for me. I cannot stand it. To start the maps are like a maze they interweave and are FULL of corners, windows and ledges for people to hide and camp in. To be honest I don't understand why the developers would make the maps like this. Its encouraging people to spawn stand in the same spot and hope someone walks by. If you choose to not do this you will die. I guess their argument could be these are flanking routes. But for that to be true you have to spawn on the same "side" and move around. The spawning makes this impossible its completely random. You clear an area just to be killed by someone that spawned behind you and ran to a corner. There is no tactical aspect to this. Run run run die. Run run run die wash rinse repeat. The only other thing left to discuss is Survival mode...I'm sure they ment Horde Mode they must be mistaken. I already traded my copy in and will not waste my time or money on another game from this franchise. Expand

Yes, it's the same moderate quality textures, same unrealistic and pathetic gun sounds, same single player thats as linear as the line y=x., and that's a real shame. Activision's desire for a yearly release gives the developers no time for any real innovation or enough time for a new engine, this is what lets down this game. It's no longer fun to pay for a brand new game, along with 3 compulsory map packs or the elite subscription if you wish to avoid being 'kicked' from MP games, its becoming greedy. The included maps are tacky, small and repedative from my experience on them, and alas, it is clear that IW haven't listened to fans as the dreaded 'Noob Tube' returns as an early unlock which is perhaps my least favourite thing about call of duty. Graphics (7.5/10): Perhaps not as good as MW2, but a clear step up from Black Ops, the engine however doesn't allow for the dynamic lighting that some rivals to this franchise and the textures are clearly copy and pasted from earlier games. As usual, the guns look great themselves, the few high quality textures are devoted to firearms which look much better than anything else, albeit, not quite as good as BF3. One thing I really like is the 60fps, it leaves the game play smooth at all times, and never seems to dip.

Sound (1/10): Pathetic is the only way to describe them, unrealistic and completely wrong gun sounds return. There are also no dynamic sounds, so a sniper rifle on the other side of a map, 3 blocks away, sounds the same as if it were 5 metres away. Very, very dissappointing.

Multiplayer (4/10): A quote from MW2: "Same stuff, different day", which is a perfect description of the multiplayer aspect of MW3....its nearly IDENTICAL! Some different guns, some not, same sounds, slightly redesigned maps, same game modes practically. There is a huge hype behind "Kill Confirmed" mode, which would be great for a communicating team, however, I'm told that this has been taken from Crysis 2 (not 100% sure on that) plus a slightly different version of CTF. These add little to the game. The same stupid killsteaks, including the annoying Juggernaught that appeared in spec ops last time. Again, in a few months time, be prepared to shell out the MS point equivilent of US$15/$AU23 for the first of 3 map packs that if avoided will see you kicked from every server (or $50 for the elite service). The maps too, all seem identical bar the NYC map, which, combined with the tiny size ( 6 players per team max usually and the playing area is tiny) leaves one bored VERY quickly. Ah yes, to allow for new and unskilled players, noob tube returns from its nerfing in Black Ops to again leave me wanting to tear my hair out in frustration. "Quickscoping", another frustrating 'innovation' has returned to haunt me, an exploit of the over-helpful aim assist. The P2P servers are a clear step down from dedicated ones, they limit the number of players and lag like hell in Australia, I hate it, it's not as fun as past games.

Offline (3/10): Meh, another over the top, unoriginal story. Unbelievably short, finished on easy in 4 and half hours, contrary to most "professional" critics who say it takes 8. However, at least IW tried to do something new with a rip off of zombies along with some more co-op spec ops, however, no co-op will ever compare to Treyarch's Zombies. As a whole, the offline component appears half baked and tired.

Overall, I was going to give this game 6 or 7 out of 10, however seeing as its part of a series, it is a rediculous copy of the last one, hence its low rating. The "professional" critics who raved so highly need to get a grip and loose their bias, as a once CoD fanboy myself, I am very disappointed and will be trying out BF3 in the near future as I return this 'new' game. A pathetic money grab, if you enjoy CoD, play MW2 or MW1, they're by far better than this.

I will begin by explaining why I have given this game a 1 and not a 0 which it rightly deserves. I have given it a 1 because it is a game. What I mean by that is, time was spent to create it and it is still a video game so that means it deserves some credit in my playbook. What I mean by that is, time was spent to create it and it is still a video game so that means it deserves some credit in my playbook. Unfortunately for Modern Warfare 3, a 1 is all it gets and I will go into more detail soon. I simply want to get out a message out to Activision before I weigh the pros and cons of this game: Please remove the proverbial blindfold off of your eyes and open them before you start dishing out products which quite frankly suck. There, thats it. Simple and straightforward. Now, onto the review:

What can I say about this game that is positive? Apparently nothing because it is quite obviously such a severe rehash that its impossible to see the difference between it or Modern Warfare 2. That is no surprise seeing as 90% of this game is recycled from previous iterations of the same crap. Buildings are recycled, weapons are recycled, animations are recycled, set-pieces are recycled (I will expand upon the "beating a dead horse" set pieces further into my review), and above all the story is recycled. Wait a second though...what story? There is a story in this game? The story is as effective at explaining what is going on around you as the explosions are to making you feel immersed....IT ISNT! What do we as gamers have to do to get a sequel which challenges preconceived notions about what it takes to make a good game? A good game doesnt mean recycling what works...it means having the balls to move into risky territory as soon as you get the gut feeling that your game is becoming stale. Why Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer didnt see this is confounding, but then again Infinity Ward is not Infinity Ward any more...it became CrapWard as soon as its founders were betrayed and ditched by cash money based Activision. I digress though because I am heading off topic. Regardless, Modern Warfare 3 embraces a familiar concept therefore which makes for nothing but an overdose of drama which does nothing to create wonder at the game's attempted positives which ultimately fail. I said I would go into set pieces earlier and that is what I will do now. I pose a question first though...did Activision hire Michael Bay to direct the game or something? Because I swear there are more useless explosions, on rails vehicle scenes and linear corridors in this game then there are bullets being fired throughout the entire game. We were given a movie, and charged a criminal 59.99 to watch it. Speaking of which, Black Ops is STILL that price....WTF?! Anyways, I close with commenting that this game doesnt deserve a 70 or 80 or 90 or especially 100. In fact it doesnt deserve anything but a 10 on a 100 scale or a 1 on a 10 scale simply because there is no risk in this game. Its a rehash, copy and paste of what we already have, and that is COD4 and MW2. The COD Elite service? Just another way for Activision to rip off foolish little kids who know no better other than to ask their even dumber parents to front the cash for that useless service as well in addition to regular Xbox Live fees. Oh and whats with the $100 price tag on the Hardened edition? Does it come with a gold chain signed by DMX? I sure hope so dog! Cause it aint worth nearly the price otherwise! People, continue playing MW2 and rest assured that you are playing the most up to date experience you can get, and please for the love of god dont be suckered into buying those $15 map packs...you are just encouraging crap ware development for years to come. Close your wallets, and perhaps these guys will open their heads.

Will not touch and have not touched the COD franchise since world at war. Goodbye COD, and GOOD RIDDANCE. Expand

This game is so overrated. Most of us played this in 2007 and they are selling the same 4 years ago and everyone buys it. The campaign is worse than the BF3 has (I liked BF3 singleplayer more). The story is like: us 3 ubersoldiers can win the WW3 without any problems. Its so unrealistic. I dont mean that water guns have more recoil than the ones in MW3 but the action is so absurd. It's quite sad that they repackage the same old thing with a sixty dollar price tag and expect you to buy into it as a new product. And then wine about the well deserved horrible user score. Too bad the so called pro critics are somehow blind to the fact that its simply MW2 with a few inconsequential upgrades.

Not impressed at all, outdated graphics, ok story, loaded with cheaters online, being able to run through hail of gun fire and knife people makes this another mistake purchase.

I have to say I feel as if most of these reviewers are being paid or haven't played, because even with it's faults this is still a very good game. It has a good story, and the graphics are vastly improved from the previous versions. And the online play is as good as it has always been. Logged about 10 hours into multiplayer. Absolute rubbish. This is a complete misstep for the series and utterly unforgivable. this is a horrid entry into the series. In one match i was playing last night, a sniper looks up into the sky to lob a grenade into the air..no problem there, but without bothering to even look down - he TAPS the L-trigger followed immediately by the fire button.Logged about 10 hours into multiplayer. Seriously - he was looking at the fricking sky!!! unreal, simply unreal. I have never felt so ripped off from a game in my entire life. DO NOT BUY.
If you are a COD fan, stick to Black Ops - its far superior, or even Modern Warfare 2. The gameplay is not fluid and there is no real since of "flow" to the action. Enemies commonly spawn right next to you. Maps are extra small and none of them really stick out as being memorable.
I haven't tried single player and very limited time with Spec Ops but what I have played i did like. probably the only decent parts of the game.

I find myself torn with this title. On one hand, the game plays fantastic, both the campaign and multiplayer are exactly what you would expect from a COD game. But, every time I play, I cannot help but feel like this is all just more of the same. Kill Confirm is a great addition and use of the new support mode for kill streaks is great if one has a hard time stacking kills. I am certain I will get a ton of hours out of this title, but I am worried this is pushing the boundaries of becoming the shooter version of Madden. While not a bad game in any sense, it is just too recycled to be considered a great game at this point. Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
