It's worth noting that this game has a single-player campaign, which many of the reviews bombing it don't seem to take into consideration. If you're interested in only the multi-player modes, then yeah, you'll probably be a bit disappointed. Still, MW3 may not reinvent the wheel, but it's far from a bad game.

With the new Survival mode you are pit against some incredible competition to overcome. Multiplayer is the bread and butter of the franchise and yet again goes straight to the top of FPS gaming. Improving in ways I would not have imagined and adding the exclusive Elite stats tracking and improvement hub has made this my "Go To" experience for all FPS playable games for some time to come. Whether you are a weekend warrior or game each and every night. you will have hours on end of excitement with this latest iteration of Call of Duty. Personally I would give the game 6 stars out of 5 if I were able. Thank you Activision, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer, and all of the rest of you who brought us such a terrific game.

Killstreaks and weapon levels are a good innovation that bring a new feeling to the series! What if it looks a lot like Modern Warfare 2? After all it is its sequel and which COD doesn't look like the one before it? Still, Modern Warfare 2 was an excellent game and I think no one can disagree. So I'm giving Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 a 10 out of 10. Perfect! After all, haters gonna hate.

Those implying that this is a map pack, might want to take a closer look at 16 all-new maps, a load of brand new guns to the series, loads of brand new perks, the brilliant new kill streak packages that I think are a great addition to the series, and the two new game modes. A map pack? I think not. while sure enough the game looks the same, why does this bother people? FIFA and NHL look the same every year. Get over it and enjoy the game. As for on-line stability, there are a couple of OP guns (Type 95 mainly) but nothing to put people off. If you are a fan of the series, DEFINITELY buy this. If not, go back to your games and leave us alone. Also, I am not a "fan-boy", I also own BF3 and would definitely say it is equal to this in its own fashion, but simply isn't as fun. Expand

This game is an incredible addition to the series, and I don't understand half of all the hate this game is receiving. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. People complain about how the game appears to be a "MW2 map pack" or a refurbished version of that game, but this rings true for many sequels and MW3 shouldn't be the only game chastised for this. A few recent titles that come to mind are Gears of War 3, Battlefield 3, and Uncharted 3, all of which were great games in their own right, but brought very few innovations to the single player / multi player experience where as MW3 has brought a myriad of new ideas to the multi player experience.

If you consider the addition of the strike packages to the kill streak system, not to mention the new kill steaks themselves brings a new dynamic challenge to the multi player experience. The support package allows for more tactical and team based game play, a fix to a common complain that the call of duty series was simply an "arcade run and gun shooter". New multi player game modes such as kill confirmed also support the new team based play styles the franchise is supporting. Horde mode has been introducted to the series, and while it lacks the 4 player experience other titles have had, it is a good first attempt for the series. A big problem is that many people consider the treyarch and infinity ward / sledgehammer games versions of Call of duty to be synonymous, where as veterans of the series can attest that this is not the case. The new additions to MW3 may have existed in Black Ops, but it is new to this franchise and thus worth noting. Split screen multi player is another new addition that makes LAN parties with your friends a much easier experience. While the wager matches have been moved to strictly private match and LAN parties, they have added new modes such as Juggernaught which adds a new dynamic to this experience as well. Last but not least the returning mode of Spec Ops has been revamped and improved upon. The campaign provides the same sort of evocative and emotional storytelling and game play that many modern shooters lack and skip over, and provides an adequate conclusion to the epic story that began back in 2007. Overall Modern Warfare 3 is a superb shooter overall, and provides more innovations to the experience than the last Call of Duty installation Black Ops. This game does not deserve all the hatred it receives, and this reader suspects it is perpetrated mostly by internet trolls and active members of the Battlefield 3 community. As a final note I will leave you with this, if you don't like sequels being similar to their successful predecessors don't buy them; Modern Warfare 2 was an amazing game that broke sales records both within and outside the gaming industry, and as such the plan of improving upon an already successful game by keeping its roots and adding new innovations make sense to me.

This game not only offers a great single player experience but also now the game offers a newly revamped spec ops mode, allowing players to further expand their solo experiance in a range of tactically challenging missions or complete the tasks with a friend in co op, not only can a player complete missions this time around but also compete in a mode fairly similar to horde or a more combative zombies in the mode called survival, as you progress through the waves of continously stronger enemies fighting to survive with the limited munitions you gain from the beginning and with a skilled player can turn the fight against the hard opposition with the use of killstreaks, perks and other equipment. And finally to the prestigious online mode which is already one of the best in the market now is better, with a feel of both modern warfare 1 and 2, 3 offers a player now a larger range of gameplay through the use of the newly formed strike packages giving players the ability to use a range of different kill streaks that will help their type of player. This game also offers an huge amount of challenges giving the player a big sense of achievement when his/her screen displays the players achievements and gains titles and emblems to show offer furthermore the bigger range of camo's that can be earned also giving the player more bragging rights. simply a great conclusion to a great franchise!

Infinity ward/Sledgehammer did a good job improving on MW2 under the circumstances of their company basically disbanding. Great first person shooter. Call of Duty was the first brand to get it right. Everybody just hates on it cause it has the market locked down and they are probably terrible at playing the game. Also if you want a longer campaign turn up the difficulty. If it ain't broke don't fix it!

You can now choose between Support, where your streak doesn't reset with death, Assault, the classic version, and specialist where killstreaks are replaced by additional perks. Survival mode is a feature that has been added in this year and to be honest, as a big fan of WAW and BLOPS zombies i thought it would try to be too much like that and fail, put simply it's not the same, and it's great in its own right. I'm actually going to write a review against all negative critics. I have been playing COD franchise since COD1. I bought all COD but this time I thought it is time to switch to BF3. After watching both reviews on GT, BF3 scored 9.2 and MW3 scored 9.3. That little 0.1 made me change and I decided to buy MW3 instead. So why am I giving a 10/10 for MW3? Here is why: COD4 was a huge successI'm actually going to write a review against all negative critics. Here is why: COD4 was a huge success and I have to say it was really my first FPS I got addicted with and played COD4 for 1500 hours. COD4 was great and finally a GOOD welcoming change after CSS, Quake, Wolfenstein and TF engines. I remember though at that time people wanted to go back to WW2 style. So Treyarch decided to make WaW which ended up to be a pure disaster. Finally MW2 came out! Although it was a great game, lack of dedicated servers on PC did not make me want to play MW2 a lot. Therefore Treyarch then decided to release BLACK OP re-installing previous dedicated servers. I have to disagree with 85% of negative critics posted here. It is true that MW3 resembles a lot to MW2 but who cares? seriously? I know the franchise has been releasing a game every year? Get it over it lol again who cares? If they want to make money let them be! MW3 is, to me, an awesome game. I started it and I got addicted instantly. MW3 combines all previous years of experience this franchise has gained from COD4, WaW, MW2 and BLACK OP. Guns are really good, I haven't tried all of them yet - but so far rifles are well balanced. SMGs are SMGs. Melee got nerfed slightly to make it more realistic and finally many perks have been reviewed, changed and unlike in BLACK OP, akimbos are now only secondary guns. I am relieved to not see P90 akimbos anymore. As you would expect, MW3 maps are truly well designed. Although there are a lot of openings - you can't really "own" a map as MW3 is based on fast-pace style. It is good (gives new players the opportunity to kill and respawn is almost instant) and bad (for veteran players, it can be sometimes very frustrating - veterans can be killed from any corners) I am also very happy that Infinity Ward has introduced a whole new system in MP that allows you to level up a gun. I also enjoy new perks that can make you invisible to Air Support/Choppers. Finally, perhaps it is only me but I feel like MW3 really learnt from MW2 mistakes and Auto matchmaking on MW3 is fairly solid. The engine is really consistent. New modes such as Survival and Co op mission are really great! See I never really liked Co op mission. But MW3 made me change my opinion! Also if you are a "zombie-fan-kid" like I was in BLACK OP, you will love the survival mode Infinity Ward has introduced in MW3. In addition to people's critics: 1. No real innovation? I don't think so, I think there is when it comes down to perks, guns etc. Although it is minimal it doesn't really bother me like most raging kids. 2. Another cash? LOL so what? seriously who cares? 3. Bored of Campaign? At first I was very excited about MW3 SP, but the more you play the more bored you get. Why? Because you try to finish the game in 7 days. I'm pretty sure if you space out your gameplay you won't find Campaign as boring as most people think. It took me 8hrs to finish Campaign on Veteran mode. 4. MP is exactly the same as in MW2? Yea pretty much and I'm happy about it. BLACK OP wasn't much for me. Im more an Infinity Ward fan Expand

Now, to my review: This game is a significant improvement on the previous two, with the story of Soap, Price and the others wrapped up in a way that left me feeling hollow and sad in the way the characters had ended up. With most of the characters we love from previous games had died by now, a comment is made by IW on the cost of war. People who are nothing less than heroes have died tragic deaths. Amazing campaign in my view, delivering a true story in a way that only shooters in the CoD series have ever done. Because this game will inevitably be compared to Battlefield 3, i have to say I was completely unimpressed by the beta and cancelled my preorder. By all accounts, the campaign is, typical of Battlefield games, a fallacy, and to me and many others this is completely unacceptable. A better campaign mode can be found on the iPhone in the form of cheap Call of Duty knock-off games (chief among which being the Modern Combat series). The multiplayer conflict between games is a personal choice in my opinion, with players more inclined to go for tense focused firefights at home in MW3, while those who like huge blown-out battles with 64 players much more likely to enjoy BF3. In my opinion DICE have not created as wholesome a product as Activision's handful of studios, with the multiplayer being the only redeemable facet of the game. Spec Ops makes a return in MW3, with 16 missions which are all challenging and fun. I personally hoped for a few more missions, but the new Survival gametype adding a new layer of challenge and fun to the game. With MW3, three fleshed out and polished modes are available to the user, with each living up to the hype of previous games. While this game isn't quite a 10 in my view, I have rated it thus to counter the massive amounts of fanboys attacking the metacritic user score of this game. I am livid at the aggression of both EA and BF3 fans in attacking this game and using dirty tactics to try and deplete fans fof the CoD series. What shocks me most is the inability of these groups to be honourable about the whole thing and let the two games battle it out based on their quality alone. Activision has kept quiet about the whole thing and put a great investment into their game, whereas EA has used tactics bordering on corporate espionage to dishonestly degrade their competition. Thankfully, they have failed. For the above reasons, I rate this game 10/10 Expand

However, there is still problems with the multiplayer thats been the same since mw1, and thats how many actual shots does it take to kill someone? i dont know, half the killcams i watch, its trailing bullets that arent even hitting me that kill me. Lets be honest, if your buying MW3, your expecting more of the same. However, this game lacks innovation, even Fifa 12 had more innovation this year. No destruction, no vehicles, no big maps? Guess what CoD isn't BF, and I would love for it to not turn into BF. Games shouldn't be bashed for not being sophisticated and complex. A lot of the negative reviewers remember back to when games were about making them more sophisticated and complex, well guess what I remember back to when games were about enjoyment and having a great time. If you don't like it great, I'm not telling you to. but to give them abysmal scores such as most presented is completely ridiculous and by far worse than any accusations made. 1, 2,3s. Hell how is 0 an option.

Just giving a 10 to balance out some of the unnecessary zeros. In my opinion, Infinity Ward did a good job perfecting the system used in the previous call of duty's and this game is loads of fun to play with my friends. This game is not perfect but is definitely not deserving the zeros posted by some of the people who haven't even given the game a fair chance.

The game is simply amazing I feel they tie up the story nicely all the while introducing new characters along with the ones from the previous installments. Multi-player is terrific they really got back to the basics of what made the game fun. overall a 10/10 in my books

I personally think this game is GREAT. I love how fun the campaign is , I also love how fun the online play is with new game modes like Kill Confirmed. Do not listen to what other people say, if you are a true Call of Duty fan , you would like this game.

This game may have one or two flaws, but that doesn't mean it should get a zero. Hell, it shouldn't get anything below an eight. This is one of the best games people will ever play, but they don't like the way a certain gun sounds when it is fired, so they give it a two. I am disappointed at how little my generation cares. Oh, yeah, the games great by the way.

Mabye not revolutionizing FPS's, but has the most detailed and balanced multiplayer of any COD. A good solid campaign and return of spec ops mode make this a package with enough features to keep coming back to in the next few months. Certainly not the best in a stand out autumn of games, but lack of originality doesn't automatically make it the worst either.

For a game that has garnered critical praise and broke records, this game just goes to show the "Madden Effect." Every year, same old game, little to no innovation. While the only redeeming quality of the game is the campaign which is the best of the trilogy, I cannot stress the moments where I paused a bit and thought to myself, "I've done this before or I've seen this before." The multiplayer is largely intact as it was in MW2 but I can't help but say that the maps just feel wrong and for some off reason, recycled from past games. Spec Ops will kill some time but you can only go so far with it. Survival only goes to show that games will borrow just about anything to make themselves more content rich but if I wanted this kind of game mode I would stick to Gears of War, but that's just me. Perks, maps, weapons and killstreaks all make a return but only with a few additions. Here is my opinion to sum up this criticism in case this has become boring. I did my best not reveal any spoilers.

Is this game good? Depends when you came into COD. For the vets of COD, it's a mixed bag.

Is it worth its value? No, I would've definitely bought this as a $20-30 expansion instead of a full fledged price tag of $60. Should I get it? I'd say if you're interested, rent it first before you buy it. To sum it all up: If you're new to the series or played the other MW games and don't mind the fact you're paying $60 for an expansion then go ahead and buy it. If you're like me, who's beginning to notice the Madden Effect in this once very popular franchise, then rent it but don't have too many great expectations, you may come away disappointed.

So far this year i've played many sequels: saints row 3, assassins creed, Uncharted 3 and many more and i would love for somebody to tell what major differences those games have from their predecessors? Hell, the only difference between Uncharted 2 and 3 were a couple guns and the ability to customize their characters! and guess what? i didn't care! i didn't go on here and give the game a 1 just because of that! This just proves that rating systems from average users are BS and it makes me questions every other rating on here from users! are they legit or are they from a bunch of pissed off 12 year olds? this game isn't a 10, but it's farther from a 1! or a 3.2! i give this game 8.0. While it looks similar, the gameplay is far from the same. The support classes which help team members are good for players who want to help their team out and don't care about K/D, something that wasn't available in previous CODs. And the fact that taking over bases and going for the objectives helps towards your pointstreak helps a lot in making the game more objective based. But i guess that first thousand reviewers who chose to review in the first several hours of the release date wouldn't have know that. What if people would have done that for fanboy games like BF or Halo? omg, we would have a bunch of pissed of cry babies. I thought the single player would have sucked, but even though it was short, i've played through it 3 times (one time on veteran) and am planning on going a fourth time to find all the intel and get all the trophies. It's sad when you see the rating system so messed up. Only 252 people gave it an average review? in my opinion all the negative comments should be in the yellow review area! at least then the reviews would be more legit! What's sad is that the negative comments backfired on all the fanboys. If the reviews would have been around a 6.0 or a 7.0 then people would have taken the reviews seriously and decided not to buy it, but every person i know that read the reviews here laughed all the no life losers who had nothing better to do that give the review a 1. There are no games that have sequels that are truly reinvented and the ones that do are usually terrible *cough* Call of Juarez *cough*. And yes even battlefield 3 had literately no differences! it's just prettier and has jets! please tell me any other differences? the snipers work the same! the game modes are the same! yes it has a lot of guns, but it's obvious that most are some are better than others and all you see is that same guns online! and this is coming from somebody who plays BF3 and likes it more than COD! but just because i like BF3 better than COD it sure as hell doesn't mean i give the game a terrible review! I gave myself a couple weeks before reviewing, so i'm sure that my review is probably more legit than the bunch of 1's and 10's that put on here every 5 minutes. I wan't all the fanboys who say that MW3 is the same as COD4 and look at the differences between saints row 2 and 3 and uncharted 2 and 3 (both games that are reviewed highly both critically and with users) and find a major difference? something totally recreates the game and make it so much more reinvented? then i want you to think about BF3 and BFBC2 and tell me major differences that reinvent them? and not just prettier graphics and jets! i want to see if you can find any! and if you do and you think i'm full of cr@p email me and let's see how good of an argument you have: jakobpeter16@yahoo.com (that's a fake account i have for random things i do) I hope all you little kids that reviewed the game so low to look and say whether or not it realley is a 3.2 and whether or not you guys made the same mistake on every other sequel you ever reviewed? Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
