I hate these who votes without playing the game. They are stupid trolls, haters and BF3 fanboys. MW3 is such a great game. Great solo and great multiplayer. I enjoyed more 20 minuts of the solo of MW3 than the 6 hours of the solo of battlefield.

Very cool game. Great single player. Story makes you feel like you are in an action movie. Multiplayer with the new killstreaks is also loads of fun. This is going to be one of those games that gets played for a whole year, until the next COD comes out.

I play both the BF and CoD series and with the latest release if CoD MW3 I will say I am very pleased with the multiplayer so far. I am mainly a multiplayer player not single player. I have read complaints about how spec ops is not 4 player coop, so what thats part of the challenge, plenty of people played 4 player coop in Nazi Zombies and just destroyed it, so whats the problem with a little challenge in having fewer people. Now the competetive multiplayer. Kill confirmed is a new breath of fresh air in the series, it eliminates those who camp for every kill and promotes more teamwork that the usual game modes and requires every member to be more active to create the outcome of the match. As well Team defender is a nice new take on combining two of the series popular game modes (Team D and Capture the Flag) My time spent playing this so far has been the most fun as well as the most frustrating as this is undoubtedly one for those who have friends to accompany them in the fight. But to settle everyones complaints, yes some of the guns are the same and some of the same perks but their balancing has now almost been perfected. For every perk or gun you use there is a different one to contrast it making the firefights more balanced, even for unexperienced players. Infinity Ward has also taken note of players who may not set high killstreaks but play to the game feel more involved and brought to them the ability to earn killstreaks without the need to camp or play with a party to obtain those by implementing the support killstreak class. With a few gun balancing tweaks (mainly the shotguns) the game will be a near perfection in the first person shooter market. Expand

I have to agree though that the campaign is horrible. It is 5 hours of the same duck in cover and shoot mechanic with a few vehicle levels mixed in. One memorable level is close to the beginning of the game where you have to stop a nuclear meltdown in a Russian sub. Overall the campaign is boring and short with a hard to follow story, but the multiplayer really saves the game. Sure the graphics look the same, but in order to keep it at 60 fps, they can't improve on them too much more for consoles. They have re-done gun sounds, kill streaks, perks, made 16 new great maps. Call of Duty developed a very good formula for a first person shooter, and they would be fools to deviate from it. What kind of new innovations should they have made? Maybe they should made MW3 a racing game, or an RPG... Its really easy to say make MW3 different than the rest, but something you never see are good suggestions from people criticizing of what exactly they should have done. The game looks, feels, and plays great. That is the criteria of a good game, and MW3 has it in spades. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't understand why everyone is slapping down this game? It's a great way to end the story. I tried playing battlefield 3 and it was lacking. We picked up in MW3 right after Soap got stabbed. You then play as Yuri, one of Makarovs men turned to Price and Soaps team after he was shot by Makarov at the Airport mission before you go mow down half of Moscow. You discover this after (Spoiler) the death of Soap. The story is well thought out, the play is typical, however well known, and if you don't give this game an honest look and play, you are missing out. And please, do not judge this game on my words or of the other people who have given a bad review (though I suspect another developer is behind that). Again, the graphics are wonderful, and set pieces are really majestic; the story is interesting and winding (make sure you pay attention). Finally, unheard of in this class of games, there is another play mode called Spec Ops that included 2 horde-style and mission-style gameplay. These are fun and innovative, and some might enjoy it more than multiplayer. I'm not sure if the BF3 or Halo fanboys are just upset that MW3 is performing so well, or if they are just this immature, but it doesn't make sense that they would waste their time lying on these reviews. This is a great game, and it will last much longer than the ones they are standing behind. Should you be torn between games, MW3 is absolutely the way to go. Expand

Your bad internet connection in relation to servers is not a reason to give the game a low score. Furthermore if you do not like FPS games to begin with, don't tarnish the titles name since you have a hard time with the point and shoot mechanic- not for this game, but for all future FPS games. Rather than add some extra graphics or bs like other games might, they instead choose to focus on the story, multiplayer and special ops. The story is thrilling and fun much like the predecessors. First I would like to point out that in no way is this game innovative, but to call this game mw 2.5 or 1.3 is a rash, bold, and incorrect statement. Anyway, i digress to my actual review of this game. I will be breaking this down into the three categories Infinity Ward has given us, as well as certain criteria people expect from a review such as graphics, game play, etc.

The first portion every person should go through (or at least the one I always start with in every new cod title) is the single player campaign. This campaign is fantastic in every sense, though a bit short. But this complaint is a small one considering I blasted through the main story line in about 4.5 hours on regular difficulty. But its length really isn't a flaw if you consider that a game that looks for the biggest adrenaline fill it can possibly dish out, while at the same time trying to not be numbing to the player. This campaign finally wraps up the storyline in a very meaningful and conclusive way and its a blast getting there.

Then comes the return of spec ops, which I enjoy substantially more than Nazi zombies (sorry zombies have become been there done that in our culture, only thing i enjoy with zombies anymore is the walking dead). Anyway I can't wait to be able to play with mode properly with a friend instead of getting paired with some moron online. In addition, a second game type has been added to spec ops which is called survivor. Survivor is more or less the COD take on horde mode from the gears of war series, and it works really well here, though admittedly I do find myself getting bored after one of two rounds.

And finally the monster that is the cod multiplayer. People who hate on it will continue to hate and people that love the fast paced gun on gun arcade style shooter will continue to love it. There is nothing innovative from the (and I don't know why people forget this) original innovation, but it still works great and now with no commando or one man army nube tubes, the multiplayer brings cod into a new world of people complain but not all about the same thing. I will be the first to admit that there are some guns that are slightly overpowered, such as the type 95 or the much hated ump45, but I'm not nearly as annoyed with these weapons as I was with certain weapons from previous cod titles. Overall, I'm having a blast with the multiplayer and anyone who isn't, probably sucks at it (I'm a firm believer that anyone who **** about cod should be forced to post their k/d ratio, so at least we know why).

To wrap things up I'll briefly go over the specs of the game. Are the graphics innovative? No. But they looked damn good, nearly photo-realism, 5 years ago and they still do. Any game that can run at 60 frames per second while having so much crap going on in the background and look this good ON A SIX YEAR OLD CONSOLE, is doing something right in my book. The controls are as tight and responsive as one should expect from a cod game, thatâ

let's talk about story ! it's not like HALO ! so you'll not face a large amount of informations in 2 hours and say Wow it's epic !
it's not like BF3 that put you in the story that you've seen it 1000 time before !
it's Modern Warfare so you'll see real places , real people , real politics and of course real characters ! the plot is the same as Modern Warfare 1 and 2 but the difference is Revelations and characters endings .
let's talk about gameplay ! just like MW1 & MW2 gameplay is where this game beat its rival . fast action gameplay that increase adrenaline alongside with cinematic scenes will satisfy you of spending 60 $ for this game !
sounds and musics are brilliant and i can't say anything bad about them !
graphics are good enough for a 2011 released game and have many improvements from Modern Warfare 2 and 60fps is where this game is beat its rival in graphics (on consoles) .
multiplayer is the best in series so you can finish the story mode in 5 hours and go for multiplayer ! but you have my word , you can't finish multiplayer even in 500 hours ! it's Call Of Duty ! there is no need to say every part is at it's best like maps , perks , modes , weapon customize ...
at last i can say there are many games out there but there are a few perfect games so don't spend 60 $ for the first game you'll see in the markets !
Modern Warfare 3 is the best FPS in 2011 , no doubt . but i think it's the best FPS ever !

The single player campaign was excellent, with several exciting moments and a great amount of detail that easily outdid Black Ops' somewhat lackluster campaign. You can tell that they put a lot of work into making the environment as alive and realistic as possible. Multiplayer also received several welcome upgrades. The best parts from MW2 and Black Ops were kept, while it was clear that they made a point of balancing the game and removing other overpowered or stupid pieces (nukes). Spec Ops, a favorite of MW2, returns, bringing with it enjoyable missions and different perspectives from campaign missions. Along with that, the new Survival mode is one of the most fun additions to the game, and is both challenging and fun to play through. Overall, the best parts of the last few games were kept, and the new additions and detail make this an excellent title. Yes, it will feel a bit like MW2. But I say that in a good sense. MW3 delivers CoD fans what they want. It's a great example of how a vocal minority (irritated BF3 fans, lol) try to bash a great game. Also important: the number of people who are irritated about its similarity to MW2 is minuscule compare to the number of fans who would be pissed if the game was redone to something else entirely. If you're a fan of the series, or someone looking to try it out for the first time, you won't be disappointed. Expand

At first I really didn't have a problem with this game, but then I realized it just wasn't as good as its predecessors but exactly the same. Most people got this game because of the brand expecting a good game, but were screwed over to find it was exactly like the last one except the levels are more bland and forget able (I have played a solid 10 hours of multiplayer and I realized i couldn't name one of the maps if I had been give a small picture of it.) This game is great. Honestly, every part of it is brilliant.

Let's start with the single player. It's short, yeah. Everyone has come to expect that from the Call of Duty franchise. The campaign is filled with Michael Bay style set pieces, and cinematic moments that will be stuck in your mind for years to come - much like previous moments in Call of Duty 4, and Modern Warfare 2. The campaign delivers a sweet ending to the Modern Warfare trilogy, complete with epic moments, and emotional moments. The game really leaves me wondering, though - What is next for Infinity Ward?

Once you've completed the campaign, you've got Spec Ops to look forward to. One mode is similar to its MW2 predecessor - going through moments from the campaign with different objectives, completing them by yourself or with a friend, either on Xbox Live or in split screen. And now, you can even search for people to join you if you're lacking in the friends department. However, Spec Ops is more than this now. There's the newly introduced Spec Ops Survival mode, that puts you and a partner against waves and waves of enemies, ranging from your run of the mill soldier, to dogs with C4 strapped to them. This mode also comes with the ability to rank up, unlock new weapons and killstreaks, such as calling in a Delta squad to assist you in taking out Juggernauts. Overall, this mode is a masterpiece from Infinity Ward.

Multiplayer, the piece of the game that the majority of players only care about. The internet has been littered with haters screaming, "It's the same game!" Well let me tell you something - It's not. This game plays very differently to MW2. Sure, it's the same style as all of the previous Call of Duty's, but that's because it's a sequel. Infinity Ward would be stupid to go out and completely redesign Call of Duty, when they've got a formula that is almost perfect, and the game increases in sales every year. Packed with new features, weapons, equipment, and maps, this game is definitely huge.

Modern Warfare 3 is definitely the most balanced Call of Duty to date. As well as that, it is also the most fun, the most action packed, and brings the most content to the table.

In conclusion, this game is so packed with content that it will take a long time until it's forgotten about. Is it revolutionary? No. Does it need to be? No. The Call of Duty series shows no signs of dying, and you're in denial if you think it is.

For all those complaining the multiplayer is the same as MW2 but with new maps what did you expect? The Xbox 360's hardware can't get any better, the CoD games are popular and keep breaking records every time they are released so they must be doing something right, and you'd be pretty annoyed if they changed everything this time round - for example if FIFA 2012 was released as a rugby game you'd be outraged!

The new games modes provide a little something for everyone and offer a wide variety of choices to takedown the enemy team. Not to mention the new survival mode offers a fresh take on the ever popular "horde mode" giving players hundreds of hours of playtime which never goes stale. With Battlefield 3, Dice was more focused on the competition as opposed to making an actually solid game that met its enormous expectations. Its like comparing apples to oranges as both games are entirely different. However, I found MW3 to be a massive improvement over MW2 and years ahead of Battlefield 3. Its a solid game with multiple strong. points Expand

And then they (IW) blatantly lie to us and say that it's a completely different game. They are stealing sales off other games who put in 3 times the work. Games like Brink, Gears even Battlefield were effected by this game. Yes Battlefield would have sold a heck more if MW3 wasn't coming out because people wouldn't have waited for MW3. Basically they are killing the game industry because game makers are struggling to make money. Expand

MW2 was good... untill people found out that they could have unlimited noobtubes. Black Ops was garbo from the start, people where sitting in corners everywhere with ghost and second chance. In the very beginning of black ops when a person would fall into second chance there would be a frame or two where the player would be invincible. I'm serious see for yourself! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zltypAJfcu0 . Thankfully Treyarch later fixed this but then came along the infamous "Blop Shot" where a person would fall into second chance w/ their primary. Despite Treyarch's multiple attempts in fixing this, none of them worked http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyifsnEsnuY . This plus EVERYBODY sitting in the corner threw me over the edge. Just when I thought all hope was lost, a ray of hope appeared, MW3! Now some people like to be cute and call it "Modern Warfare 2.5 or A patch for MW2." I will be the first to tell you that this is quite the opposite of "Modern Warfare 2.5" Alot of BF fanboys like to use their excuse that they have a beastly state-of-the-art brand new Frostbite 2 engine and we are still running on the same engine as mw2. IW 4.0 (the engine of MW2) was very new at it's time. The IW 5.0 (MW3's engine) may only be a tweaked version of IW 4.0 but there is a noticable difference. The gun sounds have changed and sound sooo much better. The graphics are noticeably better. The weapons are balanced, and unlike previous call of duty's I can get into a gun fight and have a fair chance of winning it. Overall the multiplayer is great! Expand

If you are a person that plays multiplayer and usually forgets about campaign and the other modes...then yea...you arent going to get much! and you should expect that by now! I didn't even understand the jump between Call of duty 4's multiplayer and MW2's. But anyway...I just do not understand what was expected from the game overall. People always loved modern warfare for what it was..WHY would they change it completely? Obviously they added perks here and there...modes and guns etc. They didn't show us anything terribly new in the first place...The game works like it is supposed to, feels great like it always has..and continued the campaign. I remember when people complained that Black ops wasn't as good as MW2...now MW3 is similar to MW2..what's up? That's what everyone liked. I was afraid that the game would not have been created!..I was also afraid that it would not feel as smooth as MW2 but they pulled together and got it done! I'm happy for sledgehammer and infinity ward for creating this excellent game. Either way..for such a BIG franchise, if they change it too much, people complain...then if they don't change enough..they complain. Expand

As for MW3, I love the game. I only started playing CoD properly this year (I've played 4 and WaW before), the first one being Black Ops, which I still love playing even now, then I worked my way back and then purchased MW2, which for the first few weeks, I found incredibly difficult to play, mainly because of the game engine being so different to Black Ops.

Then I bought MW3 at the midnight launch after waiting for 3 hours and I can honestly tell you, that I haven't felt cheated with my purchase....not one bit, even up till now. The game feels a lot like MW2, but unlike most of the morons on Metacritic complaining about how it's not "ground breaking" or anything, what WERE YOU EXPECTING?! You know what I was expecting? Some shooter-tastic fun, and that's exactly what MW3 has given me. How can so many of you guys sit there and say "it's an expansion pack" or "It feels too similar to MW2" when it's obviously quite different from its predecessor. Sure you still Aim down your Sight, and sprint and jump, but why fix what isn't broken? I don't see complaints like this every time a new Pokémon game is released, and that's been sticking to it's samey gameplay for 15 years!

10 for graphics, they're obviously enhanced over MW2. 10 for sound design, It's done well considering it doesn't have to be put on 2 disks like BF3 had to be (yes, I'm not a PC gamer, so I get pretty much everything for my Xbox...and what?!) it's held up really well. 10 for overall Gameplay because MW3's campaign kept me hooked and entertained me throughout the whole thing, and loved pretty much every bit and I wanted to see how it all concluded. Now BF3...I'm still playing through it and I'm just going "Meh, back to MW3" I also feel like I'm playing the Black Ops campaign again. As for Multiplayer, MW3 is clearly more chaotic, with all the Killstreaks and all the variety of gameplay modes. Also, BF3 essentially only has 3 game modes! TDM, Rush and Conquest, and a lot of you trolls are complaining about things not being mixed up enough in MW3? MW3 10/10, trolls stop hating and go back to your cave, the game is absolutely worth buying.

The shooting mechanics are still solid (not enough variety in weapons though), but on a technical level, this one's a full-on 'Monet' - from far away it's okay, but up close it's a big ol' mess. Those were some very flat, cardboard-y skyscrapers in New York.

I'm old enough to remember when multiplayer was the yummy side dish which complemented the meaty single player main course. I neither want to be called a 'noob' or be 'pwned'.

Still, congrats on a well-executed media event (drips with sarcasm)... but can my £40 buy me an actual game next time?

This game suffers from 'we must get something out in 2011... regardless'; The campaign feels very much like a re-hash just to get something out after the melt down in IW. Also I am surprised and disappointed that they have not added some of the cool features in Black Ops, like being able to upgrade your weapons with COD point, custom emblems on your weapons.... and the training option... I am strongly considering not buying any future content, as I don't want crap maps. If anyone from IW/SH read this then consider a map design competition, I think this was done for MW on the PC.... Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
