    Now that all the midnight trolls are off the forums... This game expanded upon a very successful predecessor. For everyone saying its the same as MW2, what do you think a sequel is? Most sequels are like the previous game. BF3 is like BF2 except they stray away from bad company to an elite team to compete with CoD. Uncharted 3 is like uncharted 2 but with a new story.     Wow /v/, you seem pretty angry. But that's okay, because I'm having fun playing my brand new installment of cod with my friends, and HAVING FUN. MW3 gets a 10 because it's better than skyrim, and i'll give skyrim like a 4, but everyone else says it's worth a 10, so mw3 must be a lot better than a 10, but I can only give a 10.

    Great game, COD the way i like it. If you dont like other cod games then you wil not like this one but for me it is perfect. One of yhe best game of the year.

    I think the game is great! May be the same engine, but they never advertised for new and improved graphics, so stop complaining. I love the new modes, and weapons. Totally worth the price. If you loved MW2, then this is a deff pick up.

    Best First Person Shooter Ever! Put Butterfield 3 to shame. It's funny reading the B3 fangirls and EA employees give COD MW3 low ratings. Too bad for them, the unbiased gaming critics agree that COD MW3 is significantly better than B3. The graphics and story line in MW3 is unbelievable. New weapons are great. Multiplayer is fantastic.     Its the best at SP, MP, Spec-Ops simply everything. The game may be close to MW2 at graphics but its the best game ever. Best-in-class multiplayer is now more balanced than ever. Also you shouldn't worry about empty servers because it is best selling game ever. It deserves 10.

    The game is GREAT!!! Haters gonna hate, always!!! The campaign is solid, with a great story and very fun to play.
    The multiplayer is the best of all COD games, and so much better than BF3 mp.

New game modes make the multiplayer feel fresh. I love Spec Ops. I wish it allowed 4 people, but MW3 got it right to limit it to 2 players. Overall, this is the best shooter out there right now. BF3 is great and I will continue to split my gaming time between it and MW3, but MW3 is just more intense than BF3. This is a tough month to be a game. Competing with BF3, MW3, Skyrim and Halo CEA in the same month. Four great games, 3 shooters, and one epic RPG. Right now, MW3 is top of the pile. MW3 is worth the price of admission and that's not even bringing the COD Elite service into the picture. Elite makes MW3 into a social experience to rival Battlelog and Bungie's stat tracking software for Halo. This enriches the gamer's experience by providing goals, bragging opportunities, and community to the franchise. Without Elite multiplayer seems more often than not feels like playing with a bunch of selfish monkeys. With Elite, you can team up with like minded gamers and forge an experience that satisfies and builds your gaming prowess while enhancing the community of gamers as a whole.

    Long story short - this game is great. Totally worth every penny. Cudos to Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward. To all the people who say people shouldn't buy this game all I have to say is "Why did you buy it then?" This game will be played by millions for years to come.    … Expand

Their hardly gonna change such a successful formula. I buy the modern warfare series of COD because I want to have a absolute blast playing a game, and this is no exception.

    Survival mode Spec Ops is fun as hell, and the campaign it EPIC.

The series has become a bit more geared to the hardcore COD players, especially with the Call of Duty Elite service. You feel as if you are always trying to strive towards something new. The Campaign is arguably the best in the series.     The game rins the smoothest out of the franchise, it might not be revolutionary but it far surpasses the gears of war, battlefield and tom clancy franchises. If your only complaint is that its a rehash, then so be it but nothing on the market can surpass its playability. Fact!

One does it's best to emulate a more strategic, team-based, open battlefield design, while the other is clearly meant to be a frantic, tight-quartered dose of chaos and over-the-top action. For me, I enjoy them both BECAUSE of their specific differences.

    As for the game..............

    Well, having not played any of the COD games since MW2 (which was pretty awesome), I can say that I didn't have any hopes or expectations on this game. Since MW2 I had spent more of my limited gaming time enjoying the Battlefield series and had recently decided to give this a spin. Well worth it. Pure fun, pure entertainment. There really isn't much negative I could say about it. It's a nice change of pace from Battlefield, and was an immediate wake-up call to me that I needed to change my FPS skills accordingly.

    If you're expecting something mind-blowing or revolutionary, you're simply not thinking straight and don't really have the ability to comment on the gaming industry. If you're somebody who enjoys the adrenaline of fast paced, over-the-top action and enjoy constant unlocks, a plethora of game modes and maps.......then you should love this game.

    Rating: 8.5/10 (rounded to 9)

    To the people who say: its simply a MW2 expansion. What were you expecting?! To travel suddenly back into another era? I honestly cant think of how they could have made it better! It's meant to be a intense, fast-paced, FPS; not a battle simulation. Call Of Duty isn't was never about the teamwork or realism per say, its simply meant to be about you playing as a hardcore soldier, doing the impossible... (If you looking for a realistic battle simulation, buy BF3 a realistic but slow paced game. )
    If you don't like fast paced FPS games (e.g. BF3 fan) don't give it bad ratings, if it's not your type then it's not.
    If you liked the MW series, but want more features, better graphics, intense 'point-streak rewards', and want a fairer online experience than the games before; get Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3    … Expand

    After 600 hours on mw2 i can say this is very similar but slightly better. New modes new weapons. The graphic at 60fps for this generation of conosle is this , they can't do magic. After the disappointment for black ops i think this is a good return of a classic fps.

It is a lot like CoD4 and MW2, but that's a GOOD thing because those games were EXCELLENT. If it isn't broke, don't fix it.     I enjoyed playing it. That is what I based my score on. As everyone has said, basically the same as MW2, which is my favorite game. As such I am quite happy. Only complaint would be that I wish the campaign was longer.

Also, killing virtual little girls just for shock value? I could care less that they put that into the game but it's a good metaphor for the type of fluff game they produced.     Now, the multiplayer. It's stiff and rigid. Barriers everywhere. Tiny maps. And they still don't do things that games like Quake 3 have been doing for at least a decade. No dedicated servers? No ability to play custom user made maps? No user made content AT ALL. No custom made user modes. Hell, Halo 3 let's you do that. There's no innovation what-so-ever. Same guns. Same sounds. Same run 'n gun fluff BS. The netcode is awful. How many times have I died while shooting at an enemy only to look at the killcam and watch myself not even turn towards the enemy. Or what's with dying and having all of your bullets that were in transit disappear? You can never shoot your enemy and kill him at the same time he kills you.

    What happened to the days where you could could filter a server list by types of maps or types of game modes? Yeah, like a dedicated server that runs a roulette of a certain type of game mode. Or even map voting or game mode voting. There's nothing. The only thing MW ever had going for it was it's invention of the online FPS RPG system and what do they do? They drag it out. They don't even build on what they've built before. How about instead of prestige-ing, only to do the same things OVER AND OVER again, you invent something NEW? How about new and interesting maps that aren't just random sandscapes with military vehicles or boxes strewn about?     Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a huge improvement from Modern Warfare 2. Spec Ops has gotten better, the new Survival mode is fun and addicting, the Singleplayer Campaign is very good, and very fun, I enjoyed the story the most out of them all.

    All though this game has the same graphics as COD MOD 2 and the game play really didn't change at all. I find this game to a solid title, with a excellent multi-player. If you get this game you won't be disappointed for two reasons: exciting campaign mode, and an excellent on-line multi-player.

If you expected more then you do not fully understand what Activision is about and expected the wrong thing. From what I have experienced I am enjoying it and plan to continue enjoying it and hope all others can get past the same old "formula" that they use and just enjoy the game.     I am absolutely loving this game. I know it's supposed to be MW2.5, but so??? All Call of Duty's have historically been very similar. But this one has fixed all of the game breaking, rage inducing problems of its predecessor. I can safely say I am having the most fun here than in any Call of Duty yet.

    Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer is the best multiplayer experience up to date. Activision has mastered the art of making fun multiplayer online first person shooter. This game plays a lot like like previous call of duty titles, which is not necessarily bad as this formula worked for them and continues to work as this game is even more fun than previous call of duty titles..

    Anyways, the game is still just as good as previous iterations. The series has decayed over time, and what felt fresh and exciting in Call of Duty 4 feels generic in 2011. Despite this fatigue, it's just as addictive as ever. I'm already level 25, and it has barely been two days since it was released. The Spec Ops mode was fantastically addictive as well, and is the freshest and most fun part of the whole package. I've played the first few levels of single player, but haven't beaten it so I wouldn't want to talk about that aspect without completing it. All in all...buy this game if you are a casual shooter fan. If you are a hyper competitive multiplayer gamer, and find Battlefield 3 too "open" for your tastes, pick this up as well. I'd normally give this an 8.75, but since this scale wouldn't allow anything besides full numbers, and this terrible and suspicious backlash, I'm giving it a 10. Do not get me wrong i like both games, and i find most of these sites as crap.     In my honible opinion Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is best first-person shooter video game of the year. It is even better than previous chapters of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series so it have to be best FPS of 2011.

    An amazing game stop h8ing on it you Battlefield fanbois. A solid 10/10. Alot of great additions the biggest of which is probably Spec Ops Survival and strike packages. Campaign looks like alot of fun and multiplayer will log alot of hours into especially with its new additions also it seems to be very balanced.

    This game has a suspiciously low meta critic and its because of BF3 fanboys trolling like they always do. Anyway, i love MW3. I disliked black ops but MW3 is better on every front. I have played this COD for over 15 hours in the last 2 days. Its very fun.

    Game is exactly what i thought it would be, best call of duty to date. Really liking the new upgrades, survival mode and other weeks they made. Dont know what all the hate is about this is the 8th COD and they've improved it just like the did all the other ones. They've never done a complete overhaul in the game just build from it

    Great game with awesome gone play and diverse kill streaks...Looking forward to the new map packs! The assault strike packages can be to powerful at times...especially the EMP. But great addition to the series

    Takes everything good from black ops, mixes it with MW2, adds a few new features and BAM; MW3...amazing. Ton of content, great campaign, brings back spec ops, along with a mode that you fight waves of baddies. I really like that, because I wasn't a fan of zombies. So worth it, game is a ten out of ten.

    Stunning single player, amazing evolved multiplayer, elite is usefull but not needed to have a great experience online, i would like better elite features.

    Frankly, I play call of duty for online play, and this is the best they have ever released. It's stable, I haven't had any connection issues, the maps are the best of the entire series, and "kill confirmed" has me actually liking the series again. Can't believe they were able to win me back, but they did. Kill Confirmed alone makes this the best call of duty ever.

    My disappointment with the game is the developers inability to see that high impact moments lose their impact when the game has way too many of them. Yes, giant set pieces are awesome, but the game should have looked at the pacing in cod4 for ideas. Either way, I can't believe all the people putting 0's in here. It absolutely deserves at least an 8, so I'll throw in a 10 to balance it out a bit.

    Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

    I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
