You have to realize that the graphics of this generation can't get much better. This has been one of the longest generation's of gaming, the graphics are starting to get very limited and we won't see big improvements until the next generation of consoles. MW3 does still introduce some new things that make the game a bit new, and fun. MW3 definitely doesn't deserve anything below an 8.0. Anyone who rates it lower are people that have these wild ass expectations that every game is going to introduce a new fashion the the video gaming world when in reality... that's not going to happen often. MW3 is a great addition to the series, I get a good amount of enjoyment out of it, as should any fan of MW1 and MW2. Please don't listen to some of these people on here, cheers and happy gaming! If it was up to me I think that this call of duty should win game of the year. Yes it looks like MW2 but it is supposed to! I mean guys it's a sequel. People think that games should always revolutionize the previous one. Well if you know how to make chicken wHy try a different recipe? Great game looks great feels great and the campaign puts you right in the middle of a global conflict.

It is the best COD game I've played I really liked the changes they did to the multiplayer is what I like best, the campaign seemed to me epic, vertical, above all entertaining. I did not expect anything from this call of duty but has left me with mouth open and confident hope to play all year greetings.

ok im going be honest with this review when i first saw mw3 i didnt know what to think i thought it was going to be a disapointment but i decide to preorder in the last couple of days. through the first play through i noticed that everyone was right it does feel like past call of duty games. however youve got to ask yourself is that a bad thing? as a person who has been playing call ofok im going be honest with this review when i first saw mw3 i didnt know what to think i thought it was going to be a disapointment but i decide to preorder in the last couple of days. through the first play through i noticed that everyone was right it does feel like past call of duty games. however youve got to ask yourself is that a bad thing? as a person who has been playing call of duty since cod4 i honestly enjoyed this game. although it is more of the same, the amusment is still there. all the great things that me so happy in modern warfare 2 are back and im relived. i will cover the basics. lets start with online, this is by far the best feature of the game and where i spent most of my time. the deeply specific class set ups are really intresting and super fun to mess around with. the story although was not that strong it was still a fun play through. as for the spec opps its something nice as a add on but defenetly not a deal maker or breaker. next up for all the people whining saying that call of duty has been runinng with the same engine thats not really a bad thing. the graphics have greatly changed for the better and if you cant see that you should even call yourself a gamer. further on i understand all the bull **** that goes on in this game but when i yell at my tv ive come to realize that its not that the game is being unfair so i died its the fact that im so cought up in the action that i want to win and when i die i get mad. is that a bad thing? isnt a game suppose to have that emotional tie? its not the games fault if your really into it and you die thats actually a good thing. so for all you haters stop going with the crowd and saying that this is the same ****y game thats just being ignorant on your part and your also missing out on a great game. also just for the record im not a 12 year old kid that only plays call of duty im a 17 year old hardcore gamer that enjoys other games such as fifa 12, battlefield 3, skyrim, batman arkahm city, all past cod games, all fable games and etc. i thank you for reading this because someone had to be honest and if you take anything away for this please know that just cause something is the same dosent mean its not fun. you as a person are living something that millions of people have done before that dosent mean your irrelevent or repetetive or even bad it just means your just living to have fun despite what other people say. isnt that what call of duty is doing?? let mw3 live. hats of to all the people that made this game youve givin me alot of enjoyment Expand

Modern warfare 3 is the follow up one would expect to the tremendously successful modern warfare renditions of call of duty, which have truly taken on a life of their own. I'm compelled to write a review, having played through the game entire, and put in hours on multiplayer as well, in response to the incredibly ridiculous zeros and ones given the game by thousands of people. a zero or a one could and should only go to a game so bad and broken so as to be unplayable, and modern warfare 3 is none of these things. the campaign is relatively brief at about 5 hours, but the story is good closure to the first 2 modern warfare games, and the action set pieces are quite spectacular. spec ops is a great nugget based form of co op, and the multiplayer is similar to previous modern warfare games but a highly refined form of them with much improved killstreak reward setups. Is there a certain amount of familiarity within the game to previous cod? well of course. Should this be a surprise? Every sequel to every highly successful game I have played sticks very close to the winning formula that made it a success in the first place. and this is true not only in the world of interactive entertainment, but movies as well. and yet you don't find the kind of hostility toward gears of war, god of war, grand theft auto, halo, etc etc that you find against the cod games. Most likely this has to do with the shameless yearly franchising of the series, only a step above the saturation activision gave the world with the guitar hero debacle. But from a business standpoint, who could blame activision for wanting to make a billion dollars every year? In closure, if you have played one of the previous modern warfare games, don't expect this one to reinvent the wheel. However, if you enjoy fun, balanced multiplayer action, and like first person shooters, there is really no reason you won't enjoy this game. Expand

This is my honest review based on how I feel about MW3 after playing it for 20+ hours, not based on the manufactured rivalry between MW3 and Battlefield 3. The rivalry was made up by EA to sell games. If you want to hear about their game, go to the BF3 review page. If you want to hear about MW3, read on. They're both perfectly good games, so play whatever you like.

This review is based only on MW3's multiplayer. At the time of this review, I'm still only a few hours into the campaign, I haven't touched Spec Ops, but I've invested 20+ hours in multiplayer. That's how I play every Call of Duty game. I bought the game specifically for the multiplayer, and for me that was worth the $60 USD. I personally wouldn't advise anyone to buy a COD game only for the single player campaign. I always play the campaign eventually, and enjoy it, but I don't think a COD campaign is worth the full $60 USD investment. Most of the campaigns are a 10 hour, very linear, but very cinematic experience.

MW3's multiplayer is the most balanced and fully realized of all of the COD games that I've played. While we all have a particular iteration of the series that we've put the most hours into and feel the most attached to, MW3 feels the most clean and equitable after years of tweaking in the series. If you can still burn hundreds of hours on the multiplayer, or if this is your first COD game, I highly recommend it for the multiplayer experience alone. If you're burned out on COD multiplayer or never liked it to begin with, then there's no reason to buy this one.

When I actually played the game i was sold, the campaign is great, the spec ops mode i fantastic, and the mutliplayer is the most balanced and enjoyable of the series. COD is mainly a multiplayer game though so i will focus on that. None of the guns are overpowered, the perks all have there ups and downs, and the new strike packages allow every breed of player to have a good time. Now this is not a perfect game though, the campaign once again skims on character development, and the multiplayer maps are a little small for my liking, but by no means do these things overpower the great qualities of this game. There has been a lot of unfair criticism of this game, the campaign is solid and the multiplayer is good. It may feel like MW2 but how far can you go to differentiate them that much and it still be a sequel to the previous game. The worst, they have tossed out. The campaign is no shorter than the BF3 campaign. and i found it more difficult. I sold BF3 the day after getting MW3. It is fun (bf3) and has great graphics, and very realistic. But the realism downplays the replay ability. It gets boring. CoD MW3 is and improvement. And it was two years ago when IW and Activision released a CoD title. Black Ops had NOTHING to do with these two development teams. Is this the same MW as always? Yep. Is it bad? Not by a long shot. I agree that not much has changed in the way of mechanics, or with the multiplayer leveling system itself. But if it's not broke, don't fix it! If they had changed the mechanics completely, everyone would have cried foul anyway! We are a society of complainers who wants everything perfect, but if you take that emotion out of it and see it for what it is, it's still a dang good game. The campaign had moments that make you sit with your mouth hanging open and didn't realize it until that moment was over. The story, same as always, is a bit forgettable, as is with ALL war games. Shoot this, blow up that, you forget why after a while. But what's important is, after a while, who cares? It looks so cool to blow stuff up! And MW3 does that beautifully. So to sum it up, this is a good game. Not perfect, but really good. And here is something shocking for you to think about...what if we could like BOTH MW3 and Battlefield?! Spec Ops is back and while the missions arent as varied or exciting as the previous title they still provide hours of entertainment and if youve got the chops to amp up the difficulty to Veteran some of the most challenging. New to this version is survival where you and a friend can jump in and survive wave after wave of increasingly difficult enemies while unlocking different weapons, perks and air support. The real time in this game of course lies in the multiplayer, with over 40 weapons, 15 upgradeable perks and the new strike package layout it is the most balanced and fun experience to date that will provide months if not years of entertainment to all who WANT TO PLAY IT, when it come down to it MW3 expands on the first two titles without going to far out of the comfort zone of the developer which is totally fine in MY OPINION because the first two were fantastic experiences and i for one cant wait to beel this one dry as well Expand

You can't just buy a "new" game and expect to destroy everyone, period. That's just how it works. You play, get killed a lot and eventually get better. So to "those" players, stop quiting so easily and giving a game a 0 because your not destroying everyone. Now that that's outta the way, time to address the majority who keep saying its the same game. These are the EXACT same people who loved mw2 but complained when the problems came. All of them, I mean ALL of them said the exact same thing. "if they fixed the problems with mw2 it would be the BEST game". Well unfortunately they couldn't fix it.....until now. They give you exactly what you nipple babies wanted and somehow you still cry. Makes sense, doesn't it? They give you the best of cod 4, mw2 and black ops and still, you cry. Enough already. I'm seeing close to a million people online everyday, but yet it gets a 0? Stop it. To make matters worse, a lot of you keep crying about "innovation" but yet you really only wanted the problems to be fixed for balancing issues. Bunch of morons. Do you even know what you want? Also, to the battlefield community who rags on this game because theirs is "innovative"......you are also morons. Just like cod they add a couple different tweaks and things with their games and you think it's groundbreaking? Guess what?? It's the same thing as cod. If cod said they were running a new engine and it looked the exact same, you would swallow it all up. Every last drop. With no complaints and asking for seconds. I hate to break it to you, but bf3 and bfbc2 ARE THE SAME GAME. Just with different tweaks and things. Nothing extraordinary. Definitely nothing innovative. It's been the same for years just like cod. Nothing more to it. Last note, if you bought this game just for the single-player only to turn around and say that it's short and/or horrible....your an idiot whose parents locked you in a closet for their childhood. How do you not know its short? Do you not have any connection to the outside world? Idiots I swear. Just like the people who expected a whole different game. It makes a lot of money for a reason. Last bit of advice to everyone who doesn't follow this rule. Be your own person. Like the things you like and hate the things you hate. BF3 provides huge maps and more tactical, methodical gameplay. MW3 is a run-and-gun, encounter-heavy shooter, with a smaller strategic empasis. You can like both games people. I do. I simply like them for different reasons. Now for my actual review. Obviously, MW3 is largely a rehash of MW2. Graphically, it is NOT an improvement. The fundamental gameplay is identical. The mission selection, however, is more varied than MW2, which was a welcome surprise. The campaign is still too short. But that is from the perspective of someone who values the campaign just as much as the multiplayer. Most players buy the game for the multiplayer, and view the campaign as a bonus. In that sense, a 6 hour campaign is respectable. The story is still generic. It's more over-the-top action. Many people complain about this, but the fact is that most video games appeal to our sense of wanting to live out a fantasy vicariously from our couch. The campaign is no different from any other game in that respect. But the biggest reason I can give a 9 out of 10 to this 3rd installment in the seemingly stale CoD franchise and still look at myself in the mirror is a factor that I think most "professional" reviewers overlook. I call this the Fun Factor. At the end of the day, MW3 is still a lot of fun to play. The reason that you don't see innovation on a grand scale is because such innovation is NOT NECESSARY. Just look at the sales figures and tell me if you would change the CoD formula if you were Infinity Ward or Activision. No you would not. And no, not only 12 year-olds buy this game. I am a 27 year-old history teacher with a beautiful wife and daughter, and I bought the game and enjoy it for what it is. If you are a BF3 player who is a MW3 hater or vice versa, please remember that these are both amazing games with DIFFERENT things to offer. You should enjoy the fact that so many developers turn out such beautiful products regularly. This competition is what drives these developers to give us such great games. So enjoy it! Expand

It's like going to see thelatest Harry Potter or Twilight movie, same characters, same setting, same general direction and outcome, but I don't hear people complaining that those movies are all alike. Either a lot of people who make these points haven't bought the game, or have bought it thinking thye were going to get something totally new and unique (who would be that stupid, really? These are the same complaints people had with Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops, you'd think people would have learned by now)

I love this game, I really do, sure I bought it out of peer pressure because all my Black Ops playing buddies were buying it, but I don't care, I'm having so much fun playing with them in the awesome multiplayer modes. A lot of people are dissing the gameplay and blaming it on an engine from 1999, sure they used a heavily modified engine from 1999 for their 2005 game Call of Duty 2, but since then it's went through many more iterations, Modern Warfare 2 used IW4.0 engine and this one is using IW 5.0, cleverly titled as MW3 Engine, so to say it runs an outdated engine from 1999 is the absolute height of ignorance, and frankly I'm just dissappointed in anyone who uses this as a critical point.

As for the single player, it does leave something to be desired, I found it to be fun, while a little controlling in direction and linearity this is sadly unavoidable as it needs to be like this to keep the fast paced feel of urgency going in the story, you never stop moving, your adrenaline is always pumping and there's never much time to rest, some poeple like that and some people don't, I enjoy it but It's not a huge selling point.

Another great game in another great franchise of games from one of the best publishers around, yes they're evil, yes Bobby Kotick is satan in a suit, but damn this is one hell of a fun game, and I will be playing it a lot over the next year.

Delivers a polished tactical experience, and little else. This is the best Modern Warfare controller we've seen yet. And yet, the story isn't overly compelling. The innovation is lacking compared to the FPS Genre or even previous Modern Warfare games. Even the multiplayer isn't as thrilling as MW2. However, it's still fun and filled with exciting production values and spectacular scale.

Call of duty began it's life as a single player action game and has never disappointed since, the story of MW3 is a direct continuation of 2 previous modern warfare titles and like a series of good books it keeps you interested and wanting to know what happens next. The gameplay feels a lot like a movie than a war simulator and I believe it is for the better because when it boils down the experience I would much rather jump into the action guns blazing than sit in a fox hole for hours stalking a target bored senseless, having said that at some points you are stuck following your "guide" which kinda takes away from what has been crafted. The ending is also rather predictable and disappointing seeing how this is the conclusion to the epic story.
I have seen a lot of people complain how the graphics have not changed since modern warfare 2 and my counter argument is do the graphics need to change? Modern Warfare 2 graphics were ahead of it's time as it is hold the strawberry jelly and look where it got the game, lax balancing and glitches through out have spoiled the experience for me personally. That is precisely why Infinity Ward was not going to make the same mistake twice, instead of the next next gen graphics crammed into aging consoles they have focused on the optimizations and post release bug-fixes which are being carried out outstandingly. Every new game will have glitches on release and with such a ridiculous audience every bug will be found and with a good support team they will not stay unpatched for long (don't forget IV has to jump through hoops to deploy patches on SONY and Microsoft consoles respectively).
And finally multiplayer, after several weeks of me owning and playing the game I have to say my ONLY gripe with this game is the lag, come on Infinity Ward (yes I'm talking to you) get some goddamn servers. Dedicated servers was one of the most requested features from modern warfare 2, it's nice how you tend to the bugs and glitches, but all of that means nothing if every time I join a game it feels like a rabid shotgun fest AND the killcams never match what I see, just saying. I would give this game 8/10 but there are alot of unfair reviews so I'll have to give it 9 just to offset the score :/

I did, however, have times both in the campaign as well as the multiplayer that felt a little too familiar to the past entries in the series. But if you enjoyed those games, you'll have a good time with this one.

And people have to stop hating on the franchise so much. Yeah, it's still COD but have you seen any other FPS franchise change up it's routine in recent memory? Battlefield 3 is great, I know because I also own it, but it's multiplayer feels like a step back in comparison with Bad Company 2 (due to lack of destructibility mostly).

Stop hating on the franchise, and be glad that a game in this industry can become so popular. I'd love to see Bioshock be the game that pushes game sales and gets on every news station, but you should blame the people who never give these types of games a chance, not the games that have achieved such phenomenal success. The point I'm trying to make is that MW3 is actually a quality game with a smooth frame-rate, competent campaign, and a multiplayer/co-op mode that gives the game a sense of longevity. That's why I'm giving it a 9, the score I think the game deserves and hope that you kids hating on the franchise will grow up and at the very least give out some real criticisms next time.

Interesting that everyone is so quick to bash the graphics and the linear design of this game when all shooters are like this. Modern Warfare 3 is an excellent new edition of the Modern Warfare series with new environments and an interesting storyline, however predictable at times. I will admit that I was a little disappointed that there seems to be less sniper missions than ever before (those were always my favorite) but that aside, the game is awesome. Special Ops missions are really fun, and survival mode is pretty cool too, though I haven't fully sampled all the different levels. In short, if you don't like this game, chances are you don't like shooters in general. There is nothing unlikeable about this game, and the complaint that there are no new mechanics to the game-play only attests to how polished the first Modern Warfare was when it came out. I'd like to point out that Black Ops actually took a lot of the same mechanics that Modern Warfare used, so it's not really fair to bash Modern Warfare 3 for using the same mechanics that it used in Modern Warfare seeing as how the mechanics were (and in my opinion, still are) so advanced when they were first introduced. I do wish they incorporated the running dive that Black Ops had though. Expand

The campaign is a rousing conclusion to the series, with some incredibly cinematic moments and a satisfying ending to the story and characters. The gameplay has a great level of diversity and though it does follow the usual aspects of the FPS, there is a lot more creativity in the level design and set pieces. The multiplayer is technically more of the same, but when you are talking about one of the most robust multiplayer games in the market that is not a complaint.

Look, I aim to look at games objectively. I am not going to rag on Battlefield 3, but I am going to say that its fans who give this game 0's and low scores without a good reason why other than "it's more of the same" need to get a life. Battlefield 3 is ALSO more of the same, as it follows not only the same principles of previous Battlefield games but also the standard ALL FPS games do! A game does not have to be 100% revolutionary to feel fresh and new. Battlefield 3 can still be a good game and Modern Warfare 3 can still be a good game. Where you lean towards more is just a matter of preference. Me? I prefer superior single player to superior multiplayer any day so I lean more towards Modern Warfare 3.

Story: Modern Warfare 3 has a jumbled story but it gets better towards the end. You play as different soldiers who go on a large romp around the world to stop Vladmir Makarov. I won't give away anything else.

Graphics: They are a step up from previous games but it still feels out of place when you see an American soldier T-bagging a camper in multiplayer.

Gameplay: My favorite part of the Modern Warfare series returns. Qwikscoping still feels good and the pleasure of using an ACR to make people rage returns.

Multiplayer Online: My other favorite part of the series. It is very fun but tends to make you rage really hard when you get sniped when you need that one last kill for an AGM...

Modern Warfare is back with a bang. This time developers Sledgehammer team up with Infinity Ward, bringing gaming’s elite together for the third instalment of the Modern Warfare franchise.

Previous release (MW2) gripped players through endless multi-player action online, and (some of the time) the accompanying campaign mode. Modern Warfare 3 dives straight into the action and Russia is on America’s doorstep threatening invasion.

Soap and Price are back and with the help of Frost, Nikolai and new guy Yuri (to name a few). Primary antagonist Makarov is back too, hijacking the plane of President Vorshevsky and kidnapping his daughter Alena to add leverage to his insane bid to gain launch codes for the Russian Nuclear Arsenal.

I was taken back by all the gunfire, explosions and attention to detail brought forward in MW3, and while the game engine is still the same as before, buildings, characters and scenery all looking amazing. The cut scenes too are well done bringing the story to life with verve and drama.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3Campaign Mode is all gripping, tense and thrilling. Spanning over several months, from land, air and sea with a vast array of weaponry, non repetitive objectives and an easy to follow heads up display. Difficulty changes are noticeable calling players to use a deeper tactical approach if Veteran is your forte.

Co-op Campaign is still a no-go and something the game is really missing. We do though see the Special Ops Mode return, with less stars to collect down from the pain staking 69 in MW2 to a more manageable 48.

As single or co-op, the challenge based missions are a test of abilities to up the ante of player skills. In conjunction a new mode makes a debut, Survival Mode.

One or two players against waves of increasingly difficult AI enemies. What is different is enemy spawn, it’s all calculated on the tactical position of the human player (finally no fixed spawn) to ensure players are on high alert at all times.

Guns, ammo and special support upgrades are available and unlockable by use of “cash” earned through time. Special select guns are also only available in this mode to either entice or annoy gamers.

Last, but by no means least, is the world renowned Call of Duty Online Multi-player.

Now with a more in-depth take through connection via Facebook and joining the ranks is free to download ELITE, a new aspect giving resemblance to Combat Record (Black Ops). You can view and compare stats, forge clans, news, tournaments and tons more. There is also a Premium upgrade option for all the hardcore to unlock more in-depth content.

In play weapon XP & level XP all act as a unit to keep gaming rewarding, unlocking weapon add-ons and perks. MW3 is a big improvement on MW2 with noticeable changes and differences across the board and I will be playing this game online for some time to come.

Big debates about which is best, MW3 or Battlefield 3 (its main rival) will go on for a long time, but MW3 has enough going for it to keep you enthralled in its grasp at least until the next installment is released.

A lot of people are giving this game bad reviews, especially a lot of user reviews. But i personally think that this game is the best in the Modern Warfare series. The storytelling is amazing told, and it isn't that far in the future. Voice acting is of course on point, and the multiplayer is also the best in the series. I was on the edge of my seat till the end

Personally, this is my second favourite call of duty game, behind black ops 2. While not objectively one of the better call of duty games, I have some incredible memories from this game that I will never get. That is why I love this game dearly.

This game has it all: a heart-wrenching campaign, addicting and rage inducing multiplayer, and the occasionally fun spec ops mode.

the story concludes the trilogy in a bitter sweet fashion but it is a perfect ending for the best call of duty trilogy

Modern Warfare 3 is no different. Yes the graphics are only slightly better and the multiplayer hasn't changed but added some new features. The campaign is well done and Spec Ops is great! IW did their best to create this game with the help of Sledgehammer Games. So yes, this sequel with few changes that didn't live up to fans expectations. But MW3 stands as a decent/good sequel. Chaos, pace, hectic crazy gameplay. Exactly how shooters used to be before this tactical rubbish. Brilliant game. Obviously it offers the extreme other end of the spectrum to Battlefield 3. It needs some different maps thats for sure and some minor balance issues sorting but its good as it is.

COD MW3 has to be looked at as a few incremental upgrades and changes in MP and a continuation in the SP. Those looking for a different type of gameplay have to ask your self if Your a game company knowing if you stay with same formula you still will sell 9 million copies why would you change anything?

MW3 is a great experience three ways, campaign, spec ops and multiplayer. The gun mechanics have been enhanced but there are some issues which is why 10 is elusive. Also, the much hyped Elite service is simply not working. The campaign is medium length, took me 6 hours to complete and it was fun and challenging. Multiplayer maps are fun, but here there are some noticeable flaws. Shotguns are underpowered with many requiring two shots for a kill and with slow reload, you are the one being killed. M16 is sadly underpowered and nearly useless. The worst of all is all the hackers and modders in the community. If you like COD, pick it up! Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
