Amazing how a franchise is able to make so much money by releasing such horrid games. There story is awful and doesn't give you any sense of realism or emotions, But COD is about their online, that's what makes their games good and unique right? Nope, this is a 60 dollar DLC a complete rip off if you own any other COD then you own this one.

MW3 is boring, I am sooo glad I paid $60 for MW2.5. The campaign is horribly boring, I quit half way through because I have better games to play. This season has too many good games to waste your time on this one.

The Call Of Duty series is more like an addiction then just a video-game. This shows alot with Modern Warfare 3 when Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer have seemingly made "a new game" with as little effort as possible.

They've recycled multiple buildings and scenery from previous Call Of Duty-titles, and in the story mode they seem to have ran out of ideas re-using alot of the old ones, like running from gunfire over rooftops and whilst your teammates jump down onto a lower roof and keep on running, when you jump down there the roof collapses and you need to find another way.

It's unoriginal, and nothing more then what people could've expected... The multiplayer had some overhauling but not all that much.

It's good but i feel like they took too many shortcuts. Here's hoping Treyarch will do better with "Black Ops 2".

Positives: Spec Ops mode is fantastic, and where I've spent most of my time so far.
Multiplayer is the same old, same old.
Single player is better than BF3 single player imo.

    Negatives:
The overwhelming impression that 'subscriptions' etc.. are just there to make more money...
Multiplayer is the same old, same old.
    Single Player is too short.

The multiplayer has taken a real downward spiral since mw2. The maps are small and are nothing more than run and gun. They no longer take skill and limits the value of alot of the weaponry.

MW3 is fun and has some great moments. The new multiplayer modes are definitely great, and the spec ops is great for fun with friends. The user score of MW3 is not low because it is horrible, but most likely because Battlefield 3 fanboys simply couldn't accept that MW3 is a good game.

This game is so overrated. Most of us played this in 2007 and they are selling the same 4 years ago and everyone buys it. The campaign is worse than the BF3 has (I liked BF3 singleplayer more). The story is like: us 3 ubersoldiers can win the WW3 without any problems. Its so unrealistic. I dont mean that water guns have more recoil than the ones in MW3 but the action is so absurd. I Bought MW3 , installed it to my xbox and went straight into the multiplayer
After 5 hours I removed the disk , put it back in the case and sold it on Amazon.
This game is MW2 with terrible maps and I mean really terrible maps. There isn't a single map that stands out . I am so disappointed with this half hearted rehash of MW2 , I wasn't a massive fan of BLOPS but it's a hell of a lot

In one match i was playing last night, a sniper looks up into the sky to lob a grenade into the air..no problem there, but without bothering to even look down - he TAPS the L-trigger followed immediately by the fire button. the view from his scope was looking directly up at the sky but somehow, the bullet managed to take a 45degree turn and result in a head show. Seriously - he was looking at the fricking sky!!! unreal, simply unreal. I have never felt so ripped off from a game in my entire life. DO NOT BUY.
If you are a COD fan, stick to Black Ops - its far superior, or even Modern Warfare 2. The gameplay is not fluid and there is no real since of "flow" to the action. Enemies commonly spawn right next to you. Maps are extra small and none of them really stick out as being memorable.
I haven't tried single player and very limited time with Spec Ops but what I have played i did like. probably the only decent parts of the game.

An unpolished, unrefined, unfun instalment of Call of Duty. Unfortunately, it has an extremely dull plot, which can be finished in a few hours, with no revolutionary graphics or changes to the series or FPS genre. Only the multiplayer redeems itself slightly and even then, it's nothing new.

It is important in this day in age that in a world where we are rebelling against corporate greed that games like this should be scorned as the producers behind them make shameless money grabs.

It is important to note that this is not Infinity Wards fault, as most of the staff were fired or left in discust when they were not adequately renumerated for their previous efforts (activision cutting costs). Sledgehammer is just another **** company that made games that no one likes or cares about.

The fact that you create a game that is 'simmilar' is one thing. The fact that you do not innovate the engine, textures, sounds or gameplay is another.

To the conceed to make multiplayer maps that restrict play and force you to run about an metaphorical abbatoir is another. Run down this alleyway, this alleyway. where is the fun in that. There is no zombies, face paints, wager modes, and then they shamelessly copy halo headhunter modes and rebadge them as 'kill confirmed'. Thats not innovative, its just wrong!

I will be returning my copy tomorow, not beacuse it is a bad game (although it is) but beacuse it is a sham. It is a discrase and if i want to play MW i will play one of its predecessors. And what is this elite **** 69 dollars a year? What happened to a time of you buy a game once and you get constant support?

I know a lot of fan boys say yeah BF3 fans are just complaining, however, at least they have dedicated servers? First DLC? Yeah its free, oh and it may not perform at 60fps but its new and it tries different things.

If you want a great single player game... best to wait for Saints Row 3 or Skyrim, something that is worth your money. The campaign in here has been shot to 6 hours of gameplay (really???)

Another MW game, and this time, they didn't bother to hide the fact that they were reusing textures and building from the fourth installment, or that they hardly changed anything about the overall gameplay. In fact, they seemed to have taken a step back from their newer game, Black Ops, opting for a tired out MW2 system. Brainless fun, a junk food of a game. Save your 60$.

The multiplayer is what every one was waiting for and felt disappointed in?. I like it , I like the new game modes and like the new perk and kill streak system. I also like battlefield 3 but you can't compare them , they are both different. MW3 multiplayer looks like and plays like MW2, it's not a bad thing but battlefield looks better. Its fast and frantic. There are 16 maps from the go , there's a mix of big and small maps, I just wish infinity ward would introduce destructive environments that Dice use in Battlefield 3 that can bring buildings down on the snipers and campers, I feel this is what MW3 lacks but by no mean's does it ruin the game or make it feel like an expansion. If you love the MW franchise then this is for you, it still looks the same as the rest but plays well. Battlefield 3 seems fresh but lacks game modes. I like both but both are different. Its like the battle of domination between FIFA and PRO , infinity ward seem happy with the if it ain't broke don't fix it motto, while EA and dice aren't afraid to improve and try new things. Any way both games are good , just don't knock it until you try it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you were to judge Modern Warfare 3 on its own merits then it would definitely be a 10 as the game mechanics are still very strong, however considering there have been 4 Call of Duty games since the original Modern Warfare released at a yearly rate the lack of innovation in the series thus far has to be taken into consideration. MW3 doesnt even try to innovate in any area of the game and this is why i have given it a mediocre score. The singleplayer is as bombastic and mental as previous games and is actually my favourite area of the game however it does seem that Sledgehammer games have overused some of the previous devices that made Modern Warefare exciting and at times shocking such as when the character your playing as dies or gets blown up and nearly dies. The multiplayer is one of the weakest in the series yet as it seems most if not all of the 16 maps are designed for very close quarters battles meaning most players just run around with UMP's. I think the Call of Duty brand needs to decide which developer should make the games and just release them every two years but this probably wont happen due to the large ammount of sales and revenue the games continue to rake in at the behest of more innovative game developers. It had an engaging single player campaign, and fantastic multiplayer. All the CoD iterations since then seem to have just been minor, incremental upgrades, the sort of thing I would normally expect to see in a large patch or expansion pack. The campaigns have gone steadily downhill, and at this point, it feels like even the developers themselves didn't want to include it. They just felt obligated to tack on something on top of their overused multiplayer formula. I remember when CoD was the soldiers story, where it was deeply emotional and involving, and MW3 tries desperately to evoke some of those feelings that it's earlier predecessors brought on, but it falls flat. You can't have a chain of giant explosions, waves of infinitely-spawning enemies being ground up like a woodchipper, hundreds of people dying all around you, and then suddenly expect you to care when one person in particular is killed, only to immediately jump back to screeching guitars and more explosions.

The multiplayer audience is still, as always, not the kind of crowd I would ever want to spend time playing games with. Children, and adults that behave like children, fill the online servers, screaming profanities in my ears. The killstreaks are far from balanced, and it's easy for a single player (who likely hasn't put the controller down since the game came out) to completely dominate the game, racking up dozens of kills while other players can do nothing but spawn and die repeatedly and wait for the game to be over. Sure, you get lots of numbers popping up every time you do anything, and some people find that satisfying. But you know another game that did that? Bulletstorm. And that game was garbage. It was specifically designed to be over-the-top and ridiculous, and MW3 is rapidly approaching that point as well. The difference is, they're not doing it on purpose to be ironic.

Not that it will matter, since tens of millions of you will go out and buy it anyway, but if you have any sense at all, I strongly suggest you avoid this title. Go pick up a copy of CoD 4 on steam, hop on a good server, and have fun, without all the irritation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare changed the way First Person Shooters were presented from then on. Then came Modern Warfare 2, a drastic overhaul to the gui and accessibility for newcomers while adding a huge amount of unlocks to make it a significant update. Unfortunantly for gamers, Modern Warfare 3 doesn't have the as much of update. This year's entry brings withit a new singleplayer campaign that raps up previous stories nicely, if antidramaticly. (I'd be impressed if someone playing the game felt bad for some of the characters dying) Multiplayer is still there, and better than ever. Unfortunantly, th8is year's entry brings with it no major overhaul, and no real reason to play it over MW2, Black Ops, or even Call of duty 4. Compared to the sea of other Triple A games coming out this season, there is little reason to pick "this year's" modern warfare over the competition. Expand

With that being said the game is great. Everything is polished and although the engine is the same they have pulled the max amount of detail they can out of it with this entry to the series. With consoles being on there last legs it was a smart move to work with a familiar system that works to prevent people from complaining about glithes. If you have been a fan of the series you will definately enjoy it for what it is...a game for entertainment purposes. It's not just another big map pack, everything is refined and lets face it as a competition (almost sports like) game you need a refresher as far as stats go. The inclusion of Call of Duty Elite just adds to the overall experience. Giving this game a 0 is uncalled for and unless fans that did give it that want to see one of their favorite franchises go under I suggest they give them the support they need as people putting their hard work into a product. Have fun, go play it and be fair.

Though gameplay is not overly original, the developers have clearly stuck to what they know is successful and it works. Though the singleplayer is not overly long, as said it never has a dull moment. The voice acting is especially a highlight and with the several fantastic set pieces and different locations, the game succeeds in making you feel like you are in a Hollywood action film - just don't buy this game if you are expecting an ultra realistic game. I was also impressed with the graphics (played on Xbox 360). They were extremely fluid thanks to having 60 fps and the facial animations have never looked better.
Also in the game, you can find Spec Ops. Spec Ops is a fantastic way of prolonging the MW3 experience, with many extra missions you can complete either by yourself, with a friend or with a stranger over the interent. Then there is also survival mode, in which enemies come at you in waves and you have to try and remain alive. Though not the most original gamemode, it certainly fits right in with Call of Duty's gameplay. Having mentioned all of this, buying the game with just these features would be enough for me, but obviously CoD wouldn't be CoD without multiplayer and it is here that the game really shines. I have been a Call of Duty fan since the original and though CoD4 is my favourite, I feel that this multiplayer is better than that game. There is so much to do and so much to unlock in the multiplayer that unlike previous CoDs, when waiting at a lobby you will always have some new camo or red dot sight reticule look at. The maps as well are also fantastic with varied locations like the campaign, and they also cater for any player - except snipers. When sniping I did feel there wasn't enough openness and the maps were more designed for quickscopers - as mentioned before, don't expect an ultra realistic modern warfare sim. Overall, however I would say that this multiplayer is the most balanced CoD yet. To conclude, I feel that with all of these features and with all of them being such high quality, CoD is a great bargain in that you effectively get 3 game modes in 1. Though not trying anything new, it is clear that developers have stuck to a winning formular, and this greatly complements MW3. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is going to be one of the most successful games ever sales wise, and its nice to see that it isn't going to be so popular for no reason.

Single player is the same ridiculous Michael Bay story that doesn't make sense and takes 6 hours to beat, and multi player is the same camping fest. Same old graphics engine, more There is nothing new in this game that is worth paying for. The Treyarch Call of Duty titles at least had Zombie mode to make up for the lack of worthwhile content. The same cannot be said of Infinity Ward, as they push out the same game year after year.

If you actually liked MW2, there probably isn't anything you will dislike about this game. But at least acknowledge that you are getting ripped off. This is the same thing Madden does: update the roster, tweak a few modes, and call it a sequel. The same thing Guitar Hero did: add some new songs and call it a sequel. Here's a newsflash: adding a few maps and weapons does not warrant a full priced sequel, especially when you release a new one every single year. The executives only let the quality of these games sink so low because they know people are going to buy it anyway. And so far, they've been right.

I suspect at this point you might be tired of modern first person shooters. If you aren't, check out Battlefield 3. It isn't a perfect game by any means, but it at least is a step in the right direction for games. DICE chose to support their older games with DLC, prolonging their life, and took the time to develop an innovative and polished sequel, instead of rushing it out last year. If another modern FPS isn't what you are looking for, plenty of other games this holiday season deserve your money much more than MW3.

Well, thats not going to happen, I cant believe the utter mess they made of this game. It plays alright, some of the new stuff is ok such as the support kill streaks, I even like some of the changes they made here and there.

However, they need to seriously find some new programmers to make maps as they are HORRENDOUS, and for all the good points the game has, they are rendered quite irrelevant when the maps you play the game on are the worst I have seen. Small, cluttered, they are just a cluster f*** of garbage. All that happens now is your playing Quake with machine guns. I have tried and tried to get into this, but I just cant get past how bad the maps are. Now im considering trading this in Friday for Skyrim, and I will go back to BF3 for my multiplayer fix. On the good side, it did remind me of how much fun the playstyle of CoD games is, and im quite tempted to go back to Black Ops (which I played alot of till about last March). But this game, nope, sorry Activision you messed it up.

I do enjoy the CoD playstyle, remembering how fun it is getting killstreaks, little perks. But I couldnt recommend this game to anyone. IF you love these military type of multiplayer games, try Battlefield 3. Or if you prefer the Call of Duty type of game play pick up Black Ops for probably half the price of this, as its much more enjoyable.

Though there is some kind of conspiracy to give this game as low as score as possible, its not a 3.0 game (as of posting this), but its also not a 90 score game either. I'll give it a 5 as its a good game in a bad enviroment (the maps let it down so much). One last thing to mention, if you enjoy only the single player of these games it ight be worth a look and I'd give that a 6 or 7 out of 10. Where as BF3's is rubbish. But dont expect to get your £40/$60 worth from this if your only interested in buying it for the single player, its short and doesnt do anything new.

However from MW2 to MW3 graphically the changes aren't enough and i can understand how this can bother a lot of people. specially those who care about good graphics, but people have to understand that the xbox360 is a 5yrs old console and graphics wont get any better. Sure, i know people are going to point out to games like crisis and battlefield. these games are beautiful to look at, but anyone who has played battlefield would tell you that the games have some rather ugly issues in the graphics department. I have found myself looking at black spaces on some of the maps and even seen weird lines on the ground when flying jets. My point is that although MW3 graphically isnt as good as BF3, it has the right balance of good graphics and gameplay, it runs smooth and all maps look rather nice. and to people that are saying that this is just an update, i dont see how you can pack everything thats new in MW3 to a simple update. You have campagin thats short but fun, spec ops that has being reinvented and is more fun than before, and the survival game, and dont forget multiplayer.
10+ new maps, new and more balanced weapons, new equipment and the reinvention of streaks. Lots of unlockables and new modes. And although these modes arent new to the world, they are new to COD. In conclusion im not giving MW3 a 10 because its COD, im giving it a 10 because to me is a lot of fun and thats what counts. I cant imagine going back to playing MW2 without all the new additions from MW3.CAN YOU?

I will admit I love Battlefield 3 and have arguments with a friend between both games, so I'm sure this game play appeals to someone, but that someone is not me. When I initially started the multiplayer, I chose a M4 and I was being killed, spawn killed, and out shot left and right. They have no time to truly innovate on gameplay mechanics, and even if they did they are to afraid of ruining a good thing to change gameplay too much. This means we - the fans - get regurgitated content year after year, and I quite frankly am not interested in that.

What I AM interested in is a new call of duty game engine, a true cover system, and gameplay mechanics that will give me pause and think "wow, that was cool." The only reason why I bought this was for the multiplayer, to be honest, but I think I am going to hold off on buying any more Call of Duty games until they show me they can bring something different to the table. Scrap the old game engine. It has had its day, but its day is done. Put a new game engine in, and push yourself to innovate a tired genre. The folks over there at DICE are on the right track, I think.

Single player had great set peices, though it was fairly short. The story was usually just an excuse to blow $#$% up but I suppose it but things in context.

Multiplayer is quite familiar, but hey most people knew that going in. Kill confirmed is definitely good fun though.

My rank is currently 73 and i have spent a good 11+ in-game hours so i feel i have enough experience to give an accurate review.
First of all the game looks great, its had a few minor graphical tweaks from MW2 but on the whole looks very similar, which is definitely not a bad thing. The game is being created for the exact same hardware MW2 looked fantastic on, and the improvements to the engine have made a slight but noticeable difference if you compare the two side by side.
The maps have been made smaller in an effort to always keep you in then action, this has both its positives and its negatives. The game is much more fast paced than Black Ops and does flow well, it takes a great amount of situational awareness to be able to do well in this game and the maps provide enough cover to tip the balance of gun fights without giving a lot of camping spots.
The reduced size of the maps does cause some issues with spawning very close to enemies, on more than one occasion I have spawned in direct line of sight of the opposition and had absolutely no chance of surviving.
There is a map set in Paris, with a view of the Eiffel Tower in the background which is definitely my favorite and could easily become a classic. There are tight passageways though buildings, a couple of long sight lines and generally a good feel to the map. Other maps are good and cater for a mixture of game play styles. There is a tight and fast paced map called Dome, which does lend itself to the SMG class, it does have a good location for sniping but its on one side of the map only and leaves the player very exposed.
On the whole the maps are good, with a couple of great maps in the mix, with all of them looking good.
The guns have all been made from the ground up, new models and characteristics make for an interesting choice, the M4A1 is a solid starter for the assault rifles and i was using this gun all the way up to level 35 with very little need to change to anything slightly more powerful.
The UMP 45 is back and the first weapon available to you in the SMG's and is again a very reliable weapon. MW2 veterans will remember this gun well, it was generally seen as an overpowered weapon but in this installment has been toned down slightly with more recoil and less range, although it still be very versatile with practice. Sniping is a lot easier than in previous games, and "quickscoping" is back. There has been a long and tiring debate in the Call of Duty history over this tactic, and one only fueled by Treyarch's decision to remove it from Black Ops. I have no problems with it being brought back into MW3 as it does seem as other guns can quickly take out a sniper with relative ease. There are the exceptions to this where you have a very good sniper setup in a long corridor but generally smart players will be able to use the map and equipment to tip the balance of the engagement.
The leveling system is less of a grind this time, unlocking new weapons and perks relatively quickly. There are 80 levels and the option to do this 10 times with the prestige system, then a further 10 times if you would like to reset all your stats in the prestige shop and start again. This gives the game a certain amount of longevity to the multiplayer but is not essential as the gains are mainly for bragging rights.
In all this is a very enjoyable online game, the killstreaks have been majorly overhauled with different "strike packages" available to suit your ability level and play style. I have noticed in the community a lot of negativity towards the game, mainly commenting on the fact that its similar to MW2.
In terms of graphics, menus, a few returned guns and kill streaks i can see why they feel that way but it is a sequel of a very popular, tried and trusted formula with a lot of the annoyances from previous games removed and more than enough new additions to warrant a full title.
If you look at all of the popular gaming franchises they have all stayed very similar, Fifa is notorious for this but it doesnt get the same bad reputation for minor new features and an updates teams roster. Battlefield has changed very little over the past few years, especially the latest installments.

Rage excelled graphically and had incredible AI. Games such as Just Cause 2 gave us freedom to roam and destroy. Now tell me one thing this terrible excuse of a game has done since the last installment, in fact, make that the first installment. There are the new maps, a scattering of new guns and modes. It is clear to me why it takes only a year to make this game, because it is just the same game as the previous installment, but in a shiny new box with a fancy new midnight launch. It is about time gamers used their brains and spent their money where it is actually deserved, not on some cheap remake. Reward innovation and keep the developers who care in business. Not those who add an elite club and charge you as much for the game costs to join it.

This is a great game with a great story that I've been sucked into like a 13 year old girl watching Twilight.
And the multiplayer is awesome. It's one of the best out there.
No game is perfect and they all have their glitches.
You can't expect millions of people to play a game online simultaneously and not find one bug or glitch.

MW3 is an amazing follow up to MW2 and a contender with Black Ops.
It's great to see a series still going strong many years into it.

Simply this game could have been an expansion pack to the last.

There is NO innovation in this franchise whatsoever. It is sad to see for the guys that exploded the modern FPS franchise, they have forgotten what it was that made them stand out in the first place.

Remember your audience, do something to wow them and then you will get your scores and your sales back.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is an actual review of the game. So far I've put about 12 hours into the game, and I will say I'm fairly happy with what I've experienced. I'm going to break down the game in 2 categories and rate each one: campaign and multiplayer.

    Campaign:
MW3 takes place right where MW2 left off, Soap is "dying" on the ground and Price is frantically trying to get help. With the help of Nikolai you escape capture and save Soap's life. The campaign then is splits between different perspectives around the globe as "WW3" is happening. Without spoiling the story, I'll just say the game is action packed and very satisfying. However, certain elements hurt the game including unlimited respawning enemies and the game playing itself through some of the more chaotic moments. Its a Call of Duty campaign, and is very enjoyable. I give the campaign an 8/10
+ Action that keeps you on the edge of your seat
    + Sounds
    - Unlimited spawning enemies

    Multiplayer:
Its no mistake, Modern Warfare 3 is dominated by its multiplayer. Many guns return from previous titles along with a few new ones. This time around there is no more "kill streaks." Instead, Infinity Ward has added "point streaks" to reward players of all play styles. The Assault package kill streak functions as the old kill streaks in previous games (when you die, your kill streak is reset to 0). These kill streaks are primary designed to help the player gather kills. The Support package kill streak does not reset upon death. Kills, capturing objectives, and destroying objects all go towards these kill streaks. These kill streak rewards are designed to help the players team. Finally there is the Specialist Kill Streak which rewards players additional perks after so many kills. Like the Assault package, these perks reset when you die. The core Call of Duty experience remains with a fast paced arena shooter. There are more customization options for each gun then ever before, and they come in the form of "weapon proficiencies." Basically, every gun is now assigned a level. Once you level it up more attachments, camo, and red dot markers can be added. This works great as players are rewarded for using a certain more often. New game modes include Kill Confirmed, which is basically collect the dog tags your enemies drop or recover your allies dog tags before the enemy gets them. In all the multiplayer is top notch and very enjoyable. Lastly, players can join up together for 2 player Survival mode. This mode functions similar to zombies, but this time your facing off against another army. Players work together and earn cash which can be spent on guns, kill streak support, and other options. All the 16 multiplayer maps can be used in Survival mode. In all MW3 is by far one of the best multiplayers available, and I give it a 10/10.
    + Balanced game play
+ Weapon Proficiencies + Point Streaks
    + Survival Mode
    + 16 maps on disc

    Overall I give MW3 a 9/10.

I didn't get my copy until about 11:00 AM on November 8th, and the was STILL quite a long line at my local Gamestop. Well, after getting home and popping in my copy of MW3, can't tell you how disappointed I was. I can truly say this was the worst effort put in by a game developer for a game with this magnitude. This game is simply the same graphics as MW2, extremely weak story line, and basically nothing has changed on the multiplayer. It amazes me that all the major review agencies, i.e. IGN, Game Informer etc didnt have the grapefruits to give it an accurate review, but I guess at the end of the day its all about $$$$$. And now MW3 game developer Glen Schofield is asking people to go on this site and give it better reviews? Hey moron, how about you make a better game. I hope you will all join me as I go to Gamestop and trade in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3. Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
