Quite possibly one of the greatest games of all time. The multiplayer is streets ahead of BF3's and 60 fps = silky smooth gameplay. It is very similar to MW2 (which just so happens to be one of the best COD's out there) which explains why its just so darn addicting.

Exact same **** as last year. Should have been released as DLC not another game.
Activision are driving this franchise into the ground the same way they did with guitar hero.
You can't just keep repackaging the same game and expect gamers to be non-the-wiser.
Your days of fooling people are up Activision, even hardcore fans are beginning to see through you.

I would never normally do this but MW3 is more of the same. Single player is repetitive and not worth wasting time to finish. Multiplayer is the same run and gun around like an idiot. It does something like run, run, die, shoot, run, die, die, die, shoot. I feel like I have no control of what's happening around me. Same look, same feel, same game. Waste of $60.00.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a hard game to score. If you have played any of the Call Of Duty games in the last four years then you pretty much know what to expect. I don't feel like paying for a map I have already paid for in the past (again) and in some ways that's how it feels with MW3, like I,m paying for a major update or yes... a large expansion. It is no better or worse than Battlefield 3 and it is NOT a bad game but if I was strapped for cash or only had a choice of one game this holiday season, it wouldn't be MW3. IMO, I felt W@W & Black Ops were rushed, unfinished, unpolished, & poorly made, & all the negatives that were in those two games, have resurfaced in MW3, and then some. A whole lot of and then some. I'm not going to go into all the problems, but trust me. It may look like a MW game, it may sound like MW, heck, it may even smell like MW, but this trash doesn't deserve to hold the title that has come to represent an overall excellent gaming experience as far as FPS go. Once you get into this game & checking under the hood, You'll see things don't work like they should. So, so many things are just "off" and broken.
Everyone is intitled to their opinions, but to all game reviewers that have said "This is the best Call of Duty yet." I'm sorry but either you're Full of Poop, got paid for your endorsement of this game, or have never played a video game before in your life. Yeah, I'm attacking journalistic credibility I'm so P.O. right now.

I've never bothered to write a review about anything, but I am so letdown, so regretting that I bought this garbage, & so disheartened with the C.O.D. series at this point, I have to say something & hope someone will listen. I know a lot of people worked hard to make this game, but bottom line, obviously the heart & soul of the IW crew that made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare such an event in the gaming world, left due to the fallout with Activision, and they took with them the know how & quality of the series. As well as my interest & desire to play another Call of Duty game. I will NEVER buy another Call of Duty game. EVER! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

Activision needs to ease up on the Call of Duty series. You can't bring out a game every year and expect to keep it fresh. Don't get me wrong its still a great game but people are DUTY'D OUT! I'm just glad I have BF3, Halo, MW3 and others to keep my freshness level up.

Unless their new maps coming through DLC are a lot better than the ones they've included on disc, then this game has problems with me. Not to mention there's no real worthwhile changes to discuss. The new killstreak system isn't that drastic a change, and doesn't do much to change the game. It only slightly adjusts the individual users experience with the game. I hate to say it, but Black Ops was the better game for many reasons including: Better maps, better modes, and an overall fresher take on the series. If anyone out there needs to know what shooter to pick up this holiday season, then my honest answer is Battlefield 3. They delivered a smart, and deeply rewarding multiplayer component this year that improves over its predecessors in every way. It's also worth mentioning that the community behind BF3 is much more mature and tolerable on the whole when compared to the 'typical' **** hole COD player. I'm giving it a 2 because the survival mode is entertaining. Of course, we've all played horde modes before, and that modes fun will not last forever. At the end of the day, this game just didn't try hard enough. The teams responsible were spread too thin, and in my opinion, they rushed the product out for holiday release and wasted the potential it could have been with more time and thought. Expand

From someone who use to be a huge COD fan for a long time, I gotta say I'm disappointed. Playing this game nice if you enjoyed the other COD games, but I feel 100% ripped. It is essentially MW 1.3 rather then a trilogy . Sure it's new maps, new perks and what not. But it literally feels like a copy and paste experience.

My disappointment with the game is the developers inability to see that high impact moments lose their impact when the game has way too many of them. Yes, giant set pieces are awesome, but the game should have looked at the pacing in cod4 for ideas. Either way, I can't believe all the people putting 0's in here. It absolutely deserves at least an 8, so I'll throw in a 10 to balance it out a bit.

Nothing new in MW3 its recycled. Did not enjoy this one at all. If you have played this one you have played them all. New weapons and a few others changes that were implemented in the game do not equal a new game. What is going on here? How can you give this anything higher than a 5? Its a fail for me. I got Battlefield 3 at the Midnight Release played and loved the new engine, got MW3 release day and loved the gameplay when i got used to it, different from Black Ops. I grew up on great tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, Counter Strike, and Operation Flashpoint and Call of Duty does not have that feel at all, choke points are easy as hell to control and the maps are super linear. The added verticality of the maps, do not change the style of gameplay from other cods. Campaign is meant to blow you away with its over the top Michael Bay action, but in the end the infinite spawning, been there done that story, and anti-climatic ending bring it down. The multiplayer is weak, yet fun and very enjoyable, but guns like the type 95, Scar-L, and ACR added with profiencies, become overpowered and completely unbalanced. The new Killstreaks are a plus, but IMO the maps Downturn, Village, and Arkaden have too much going on with debris to try and force an illusion on having them be non linear. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer completely screwed over the free range of motion that your used too in MW1+2 and Black Ops, ur constantly getting stuck on Barrels pipes and pillars that stick out from the walls and ground, ending up in death. Graphics and sound are subpar that they cant even be explained and the 60 fps compared to bf3 30 fps doesnt make a difference idk why IW likes to brag about 60fps.

Gameplay-4- Spec Ops shoould be 4 players, story isnt that much better than BF3, and Mp is always CoD forte.

Graphics-0- Game looks just like MW2(2007), Crysis 1+2, BF Bad Company 1+2, BF3, all blow this engine out of the water. Physics are terrible, I would atleast expect Grenades to crack plywood in half.

Sound-1- voice acting is ok, but the MP communication is terrible best to stay in Party Chat, and the gun sounds are terrible just copy and paste or Foley once again BF3 blows it out of the water.

Lasting appeal-6- the prestiges and Spec Ops are going to keep you well going lol for a while

Conclusion- Imo as Battlefield is the better game, Call of Duty is just as fun, but the lack of innovation and upgrades are bringing it down, and if Infinity Ward doesn't get rid of the Quake Engine and make a new one then this may be the final CoD worth mentioning, and Activision needs to stop with the yearly releases, or else people are going to get sick and tired. If not then Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, Rainbow Six: Patriots, Halo 4, and Homefront 2 (now made by Crytek) are going to be chipping away at their Profits and along with Battlefield right in the Rear view it does not look good.

Developers are lazy bastards! Same engine for 4 year, even sound without changes! 2011 year on the street, but we offer us to walk on scripts, jumps on scripts, drive on scripts. story is ok, but all other aspects of game are trash.

Probably my favorite campaign right around cod4, a little on the short side but the was a definite satisfaction upon finishing it. The improved spec ops only adds to the experience and the multiplayer just really can't be beat. People complain about how little innovation there is, but seriously they have changed quiet a bit with the new emphasis on support kill streaks and weapon leveling. I don't know what they would have to do for the game to be new and amazing for all these haters, they have already put so much content into it. So please just don't listen to these pathetic people that give the game a bad score because it makes them seem like they are going against a trend because this really is a great game and a definite buy if you are any kind of fan of shooters. This game hits the mark on so many levels. Does everything Black Ops tried to do and failed. This game rides on the same roller-coaster as the others in the series. Fun and exhilarating for some, frightful and scary for others, and for others still... boring. As video game standards go, it is a good game with a good campaign and good multiplayer.

Same old game. Should charge $10 as an update, not $60. Kinda crappy that a company would do this and charge you full price for an expansion pack. Where's the new part?

No new tweaks, no new game engine and no real innovation, just a conclusion to a ONCE great franchise that was worth while every 3 years. It is truely absurd that a first person shooter is being groomed to become an annual franchise or gathering for 10 year olds to 50 olds every year to spend 60$ or more and then buy the copy pasted carbon copy again 10 months later. With that said, MF3 suffers from the generic linear, yet sometimes appealing story mode. The spec ops is well ... Spec ops. I was never a fan of it as were my friends, and the multiplayer is as dumbed down as always. I remember the old days were AIM ASSIST was not an option nor a standard for online play; But with MF3 and all other COD's its a way of life. Well to conclude, if your a sheep follow the other sheep; But if you dare to be different look out side the box and dont go deeper in to your wallet and look around for something new and refreshing. ps: I highly recommend BF3 (Battlefield 3). Its a shame that greedy Activision that has made soooooo much money, doesn't try on their games anymore. They are just selling the name! This game looks like a map pack to MW2 and has very outdated graphics!

Same game as MW, MW2. short campaign, about 5-6 hrs. I honestly thought it would be a lot better. I should of listened to everyone's users review. Just threw 60 bucks down the drain. I recommend a rental at most.

Sequels are suppose to be innovative, look at assassins creed 1 to 2 or dare I say it battlefield Vietnam to battlefield 2 on pc.

both those games jumped astronomically in upgrades and changes for the better.

MW3 is the MW2 repackaged with new maps and new campaign. If you like spending your money on something you already own then by all means go ahead.

Let's spend minimal effort changing our game from the previous iteration. Make a new campaign that is lack luster at best. Doesn't compare to the current generation of games in the graphics/audio departments.

Basically just trying to keep a franchise alive with minimal effort, yet charging full price. Pathetic.

They really need to try and mix it up. This game is just another shooter from infinity ward. They are running the same engine. I look at this game like a map pack for MW2. The only thing is all my stats don't go over. They need to get out of there huge hype and make a REAL game.

The CoD series as a whole needs a re-boot desperately and this is just further proof of it,
So little has changed from Modern Warfare 2 or even Modern Warfare 1 that this game getting a full release and not some quite little DLC status is sad.
It feels like all Activision wants to do is milk their cash cow

Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero are both dead because they made so much money the first or second time around and just became so stale they lost sales. This probably wont happen with MW3 but it really should. Everything from building models to textures, weapons and even sounds have been recycled for the latest entry of COD which as an aspiring game designer very much depresses me. Developing games needs to be efficient but this is downright lazy, but since the developers have their balls in vice by Activision they dont really have a choice. I even remember seeing an article about sledgehammer saying "MW3 is not just a cut and paste game" well if you have to say that, it probably is. There are even youtube videos proving this point. Another questionable statement I remember hearing was "We're hear to develop games, not engines" in response to the announcement of DICE's all new Frostbite 2 engine, which is much better looking and brings destruction to the table instead of just being able to shoot through walls. Look at the first MW compared to MW3, not much of a difference in graphics, gameplay or the audience that plays it (foul mouth teenagers and even younger children). If you look at BF2 compared to BF3 there is a complete over haul of the graphics, gameplay and now an even bigger audience. I dont wish to be seen as a fanboy for BF3, but rather I am just stating facts of what I have witnessed and played as well as what I have learned from going to school for Game Design. Despite all these flaws and shortcuts, MW3 will sell millions of copies and no doubt there will be another COD next year. Hopefully the general public will start to see how stale this series has become over the years, but there's no guarantee. Activision will continue to push out COD every year until it stops making money plain and simple. And it is a shame that the founders of Infinity Ward were "escorted from the premises" after a legal dispute between them and Activision. Ironically enough, they joined EA and formed Respawn Entertainment, and I for one can't wait to see what they will come up with next. MW3 brings nothing truly new to the FPS genre and therefore deserves a low score. Either wait a few years and truly develop something new for COD, or create a new franchise! This is becoming an annoying routine to see the general gaming public play out every year... Expand

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
