    What a piece of ****
    It's just a copy Of MW2!
Same graphics, same extremely outdated engine, almost the same multiplayer, short and lame singleplayer.
The console peasants might be pleased with this but i am not!

A MW2 map pack, not worth the price of admission. Don't shell out the money to buy this game, and don't support the company that releases it. If I could rate this a negative score, like a -59.99 I would, because you might as well be throwing your cash down the drain.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Part 3. No innovation, nothing new. Battlefield 3 FTW. Completely random chaotic maps. No strategy needed. Point run shoot. Oh and rewarding players with death streaks? 60 for a game. 50 for elite.... 50 dollars for "exclusive DLC" that has already been made from reused building models and set on a release timetable. Then spec ops, a much more improved version then mw2. Finally, multiplayer which is the most demanding aspect of this game & all I have to say is this is finest cod multiplayer out there. It will keep us hooked for years from now, just like how people still play cod4. I was bit skeptical during the infinity ward/activition issue & thought this game won't come out as strong but I was wrong. I love this game because it's entertaining & I don't need a high end pc to enjoy its true potential. No disrespect to battlefield fans but unlike that game, modern warfare 3 has the complete package without having a brand new engine for scale & destructions. This game with a 4 year old engine, still runs silky smooth with 60fps & looks way better than battlefield 3 on consoles. While the new infinity ward & sledgehammer games played it safe by not innovating the series like cod4 did, hopefully the next one will. Keep it up guys! Expand

The campaign is still the old micheal bay film with a ending easy to predict , just shoot
Here and there , explosions everywhere , we saw that since 2007 . Not much breakthroughs
The campaign lacks of surprise and the AI bots are still acting stupid. 6/10 For the multiplayer, graphics remains in MW1 state without big leaps of changes,

I will begin by explaining why I have given this game a 1 and not a 0 which it rightly deserves. I have given it a 1 because it is a game. What I mean by that is, time was spent to create it and it is still a video game so that means it deserves some credit in my playbook. Unfortunately for Modern Warfare 3, a 1 is all it gets and I will go into more detail soon. I simply want to get out a message out to Activision before I weigh the pros and cons of this game: Please remove the proverbial blindfold off of your eyes and open them before you start dishing out products which quite frankly suck. There, thats it. Simple and straightforward. Now, onto the review:

What can I say about this game that is positive? Apparently nothing because it is quite obviously such a severe rehash that its impossible to see the difference between it or Modern Warfare 2. That is no surprise seeing as 90% of this game is recycled from previous iterations of the same crap. Buildings are recycled, weapons are recycled, animations are recycled, set-pieces are recycled (I will expand upon the "beating a dead horse" set pieces further into my review), and above all the story is recycled. Wait a second though...what story? There is a story in this game? The story is as effective at explaining what is going on around you as the explosions are to making you feel immersed....IT ISNT! What do we as gamers have to do to get a sequel which challenges preconceived notions about what it takes to make a good game? A good game doesnt mean recycling what works...it means having the balls to move into risky territory as soon as you get the gut feeling that your game is becoming stale. Why Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer didnt see this is confounding, but then again Infinity Ward is not Infinity Ward any more...it became CrapWard as soon as its founders were betrayed and ditched by cash money based Activision. I digress though because I am heading off topic. Regardless, Modern Warfare 3 embraces a familiar concept therefore which makes for nothing but an overdose of drama which does nothing to create wonder at the game's attempted positives which ultimately fail. I said I would go into set pieces earlier and that is what I will do now. I pose a question first though...did Activision hire Michael Bay to direct the game or something? Because I swear there are more useless explosions, on rails vehicle scenes and linear corridors in this game then there are bullets being fired throughout the entire game. We were given a movie, and charged a criminal 59.99 to watch it. Speaking of which, Black Ops is STILL that price....WTF?! Anyways, I close with commenting that this game doesnt deserve a 70 or 80 or 90 or especially 100. In fact it doesnt deserve anything but a 10 on a 100 scale or a 1 on a 10 scale simply because there is no risk in this game. Its a rehash, copy and paste of what we already have, and that is COD4 and MW2. The COD Elite service? Just another way for Activision to rip off foolish little kids who know no better other than to ask their even dumber parents to front the cash for that useless service as well in addition to regular Xbox Live fees. Oh and whats with the $100 price tag on the Hardened edition? Does it come with a gold chain signed by DMX? I sure hope so dog! Cause it aint worth nearly the price otherwise! People, continue playing MW2 and rest assured that you are playing the most up to date experience you can get, and please for the love of god dont be suckered into buying those $15 map packs...you are just encouraging crap ware development for years to come. Close your wallets, and perhaps these guys will open their heads.

With the release of Half of their studio following the departure of the former founders of Infinity Ward I am not surprised with what has been accomplished. Overall the Game is MW 2.5 and it was expected from the beginning, a continued story, and a redefined multiplayer experience that does justice to what MW2 was supposed to be. Call of Duty has stuck to their tried and true strategy of crafting multiplayer. If you go into MW3 expecting radical changes, then you will be disappointed. But if you go into this expecting the CoD style of game play that has generated the massive following it has today, it will deliver. The fans will love it and the haters will hate it. That's just how it goes.

MW3 however, sold 6.5 million copies and is easily the number one game for FPS's. MW3 uses the same engine as MW2, but that's no surprise. Its still a great game and keeps on getting better. MW3 is great simply because it has always been great. BF3 has major slowdowns, hardly gets to the desired 60fps, and looks choppy. BF3 has better graphics but with the slowdowns, it simply sucks by comparison. MW3 runs at 60fps and never slows down once. Its FLUID!! And still looks great. BF3 is a wide-open gaming that has huge maps. You get in, and it takes a long time just to find someone to shoot at.

Bottom line: MW3 is a familiar close-encounter game that is far more fun. The low ratings here are simply people at EA trying to destroy the competition by giving it a low rating. EA games suck. They have always sucked, as evidenced by many games. Especially Crysis 2 when EA made Crytek release an Alpha to the public to make money.

Now we have to deal with Origin on computer's? Say no to CRAPWARE, say NO to EA. EA is going down the tubes... the faster the better.

I liked. and dont even try to compare it Black Ops, its got nothin to do with it, this is infinity ward, the company that revolutionized first person shooter games with MW back in 2007, half that stuff those battlefield fanboys are bleeting on about came from ideas in MW. Why complain about lack of innovation when they had a formula that works so well with the 2 previous games? The graphics were always very good, so I honestly dont know why anyones complaining about that, or why it even matters that much. The campaign while admittedly a little short, is still fun, I dont believe anyone who says they didnt enjoy chasing a train in london, or firing hell down in Paris, or those parts where you actually feel like your in a warzone, and thats the whole point isnt it? Consoles are limited because the hardware can not be upgraded, like a PC. So how can a developer really improve the software if they are limited on hardware limitations? What I can appreciate is the smooth frame rate that is achievable in this game. I found Battlefield 3 to be a little choppy (on the consoles) since it could only reach 30 frames per second however I do like the game play in Battlefield. Ask yourself, did you enjoy the other Call of Duty releases? If so, then this is an easy pick for you. I only wish they could of added a function to match players online to certain age groups. Play MW 2 but add different maps and a couple new guns, that's all it is. At this point the only thing keeping the series alive is the new update to Spec Ops which I found very enjoyable, yet not enjoyable enough to prevent my eyes from bleeding over this so called "story". The story is nothing more than a Michael Bay movie with the production fees equal to the of the cost of Bill Gates house. And I'm talking about his house that makes NASA look like preschoolers playing with some Legos. The story doesn't waste anytime in shoving you straight into battle. You walk down some streets, shoot some guys, explosions, repeat. By the time you get through a few more levels a "big" plot point occurs which is supposed to "shock" the gamer. It doesn't. The characters are very stiff in every way, which doesn't help the story at all. When characters are supposed to feel sorry, they sound the same. When there supposed to feel relieved, they sound the same. I'm looking at you Price. All in all, no matter how much we hate it, the odds of the CoD series dying soon is about as likely as Activision admitting they have enough money and they don't need anymore. Expand

Yes, it's the same moderate quality textures, same unrealistic and pathetic gun sounds, same single player thats as linear as the line y=x., and that's a real shame. Activision's desire for a yearly release gives the developers no time for any real innovation or enough time for a new engine, this is what lets down this game. It's no longer fun to pay for a brand new game, along with 3 compulsory map packs or the elite subscription if you wish to avoid being 'kicked' from MP games, its becoming greedy. The included maps are tacky, small and repedative from my experience on them, and alas, it is clear that IW haven't listened to fans as the dreaded 'Noob Tube' returns as an early unlock which is perhaps my least favourite thing about call of duty. Graphics (7.5/10): Perhaps not as good as MW2, but a clear step up from Black Ops, the engine however doesn't allow for the dynamic lighting that some rivals to this franchise and the textures are clearly copy and pasted from earlier games. As usual, the guns look great themselves, the few high quality textures are devoted to firearms which look much better than anything else, albeit, not quite as good as BF3. One thing I really like is the 60fps, it leaves the game play smooth at all times, and never seems to dip.

Sound (1/10): Pathetic is the only way to describe them, unrealistic and completely wrong gun sounds return. There are also no dynamic sounds, so a sniper rifle on the other side of a map, 3 blocks away, sounds the same as if it were 5 metres away. Very, very dissappointing.

Multiplayer (4/10): A quote from MW2: "Same stuff, different day", which is a perfect description of the multiplayer aspect of MW3....its nearly IDENTICAL! Some different guns, some not, same sounds, slightly redesigned maps, same game modes practically. There is a huge hype behind "Kill Confirmed" mode, which would be great for a communicating team, however, I'm told that this has been taken from Crysis 2 (not 100% sure on that) plus a slightly different version of CTF. These add little to the game. The same stupid killsteaks, including the annoying Juggernaught that appeared in spec ops last time. Again, in a few months time, be prepared to shell out the MS point equivilent of US$15/$AU23 for the first of 3 map packs that if avoided will see you kicked from every server (or $50 for the elite service). The maps too, all seem identical bar the NYC map, which, combined with the tiny size ( 6 players per team max usually and the playing area is tiny) leaves one bored VERY quickly. Ah yes, to allow for new and unskilled players, noob tube returns from its nerfing in Black Ops to again leave me wanting to tear my hair out in frustration. "Quickscoping", another frustrating 'innovation' has returned to haunt me, an exploit of the over-helpful aim assist. The P2P servers are a clear step down from dedicated ones, they limit the number of players and lag like hell in Australia, I hate it, it's not as fun as past games.

Offline (3/10): Meh, another over the top, unoriginal story. Unbelievably short, finished on easy in 4 and half hours, contrary to most "professional" critics who say it takes 8. However, at least IW tried to do something new with a rip off of zombies along with some more co-op spec ops, however, no co-op will ever compare to Treyarch's Zombies. As a whole, the offline component appears half baked and tired.

Overall, I was going to give this game 6 or 7 out of 10, however seeing as its part of a series, it is a rediculous copy of the last one, hence its low rating. The "professional" critics who raved so highly need to get a grip and loose their bias, as a once CoD fanboy myself, I am very disappointed and will be trying out BF3 in the near future as I return this 'new' game. A pathetic money grab, if you enjoy CoD, play MW2 or MW1, they're by far better than this.

Look at all the other AAA sequels and name me one that doesn't copy the core game play mechanics from the original (Halo, Gears, Bioshock, Battlefield, Elder Scrolls etc etc.....). A fair score for this game is 7-8. Yes COD is Activision's cash cow - if you have a problem with that then give Activision a 0.

All map feel very similar, small, maze-like, cage-like. Every map feel the same. There is no defense line you can set up with your teammate, you have to run all the time and whoever get faster reflex and better connection win the gun fight. Sure it may be a little repetitive in certain aspects but, its that same form of repetitive run-n-gun gameplay that attracts people to it each year. The campaign doesn't bring anything too new to the table, but thats doesn't take away from the fact its a fun story to play through filled with some exciting (although, predictable) set piece moments. In terms of co-op, I actually enjoyed spec ops more here in MW3 more than in MW2. At least in MW3 they actually feel like missions rather than challenges or something. Finally, there is the multiplayer, which is what the majority of buyers buy Call of Duty for. Odds are if you enjoyed MW2's multiplayer, your going to enjoy MW3's. The money system from Black Ops is gone, so your back to having to work to get all the attachments/camos for the guns. The maps sometimes feel cramped or too large, but still deliver the action that your used to. In short, MW3 doesn't change anything. But thats not a bad thing, because as the saying goes "If its not broke, don't try to fix it." To some of you it may seem that Activision is just selling the same product over and over again repackaged. In response, I say welcome to capitalism. Expand

The game feels repetitive at times during campaign. The campaign feels boring most of the time. The guns are almost the same but there are some additions, like the XM25, which make the gameplay feel different. Online game modes are amazing. The maps, both online and offline, are average but improvements can be made. The game isn't worth the $55-$65. It's worth more like $45.

You soon begin to notice there are A LOT more NPC enemies then previous games. Because of this the AI does not know how to respond. You will notice them all bunching up into a pile and you just mowing them down with whatever gun you have in hand. There simply is not enough cover for them. With that being said what kind of cover does that leave you. As for the story its nowhere near as Intelligent of a story that MW2 gave its MATURE audiance. In MW2 you actually cared about the characters. When main characters died it was an important event. Not just a "well yep it happened". By the way it took me 4h:30min to finish this campaign. ***Multiplayer*** This is the most disappointing aspect for me. I cannot stand it. To start the maps are like a maze they interweave and are FULL of corners, windows and ledges for people to hide and camp in. To be honest I don't understand why the developers would make the maps like this. Its encouraging people to spawn stand in the same spot and hope someone walks by. If you choose to not do this you will die. I guess their argument could be these are flanking routes. But for that to be true you have to spawn on the same "side" and move around. The spawning makes this impossible its completely random. You clear an area just to be killed by someone that spawned behind you and ran to a corner. There is no tactical aspect to this. Run run run die. Run run run die wash rinse repeat. The only other thing left to discuss is Survival mode...I'm sure they ment Horde Mode they must be mistaken. Your money is better spent on porn and you can get that for free! Expand

My instinct was to give this game a 5- It defines "mediocre". It is not bad by any stretch. No, rather it is tired. It looks like MW2 and plays like MW2, which could have been forgiven if it was written like MW1. It wasn't. Expectation games are dangerous if your product doesn't come up to snuff, and so I'm giving it a 3.

Things I like- just like MW2 the production values are fine.

Things I like- just like MW2 the production values are fine. The single player campaign is over-the-top Michael-Bay-esque, and when it runs out of compelling story it uses swelling music or slo-vision chaos to give the appearance of emotional depth.

Things I don't like- paying $60 for the same thing I purchased a few years ago. The technology is the same, the gameplay is the same, the environments are different and yet feel the same. It feels like a lazy installment of the series, hyped in order to make money rather than create a worthy successor to this landmark series.

Call of duty follows the if it aint broke don't fix it method,Although i found it fun i had many "i have seen this map before" thoughts. The story is predictable and the "explicit content" seems more like a unnecessary marketing ploy than a part of the story. the multiplayer progression is great and the co-op missions (especially the survival ones) keep me entertained. +fun, addictive
+easy to pick up and play
    ^not a severe learning curve
    -repetitive

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
