Wow. EA must have paid a lot of BF3 fanboys (or interns) to write a bunch of bad reviews for MW3. Classy EA. There is no way all these 0s are real.

Great game. To all of you saying this is repetitive it kinda is but why would they go far away from what has made their series what it is? I mean if I had top selling games why change it completely?

The only reason I'm giving this game a review is because a dev asked fans to give it a higher score on Twitter. Score manipulation isn't okay to do Schofield.

Infinity ward you've had 2 years to fix the game from MW2 which was a shambles. The game doesn't need all these unneccesary kill streaks and a gazillion aircrafts hovering around what is already really small maps. Graphics look outdated compared to the beautiful Battlefield 3. You guys are losing your oldest fans in order to gain new ones who have not even played the original MW4. It's annoying to see a game of this calibre being sold for just big profit. Please go back to the simple yet addictive and fun formula of the original COD MW4 - which is one of the best multiplayer games I have played and even the single player was fun!!!. Expand

this game i just terrible, the campaign is just the same as always and the muliplayer i boring. I am so tired of little kids jumping around with snipers thinking they are cool. The graphic is the same as mw 2, and that is almost everything else too. Don't buy this game, you will regret it!

I've played COD since I got a demo for the first one long ago on a "Maximum CD". I've seen the series grow and change except for recently when It stopped. COD MW3 is just another rehash of an old game with a new skin/logo and they except everyone to buy it. It's effectively nothing more than one of their cash cows now.

The single player is okay but just like every game its over in one day

The single player is okay but just like every game its over in one day if you sit down to really play it. The online part of it is just the same as the previous except with what appears to be smaller sized maps. If you want just rent the game and beat the campaign. If your looking for online play just play any of the other copies that were released previously or just find another series.

This game has been made to almost perfect standards, Campaign is a little under gun, yes, but that's because they wanted the most action packed game so far. Multiplayer i have not seen anything wrong with in my 2 days with this game. Although they should have made maps more Asymmetrical, and less close-quarters. I feel as though they brought all the elements of both games that were good for all and kicked out they bad gameplay. Yes i understand that everyone on here who gave the game a 0 just wants their non-realistic akimbo shottys back, but come on people! they made this game for all and gave more to the professional outlook. Maps are small too small at times. Guns at the beginning of the games are pretty lame same old junk. Until level 42. Otherwise though it's still a fun game. A little upset 3rd person is gone. I'm satisfied with the kills streaks very balanced. It all just comes down to pumping a guy with 10-20 bullets for him to stand still a take a Barrett quick scope and I die in one shot. Never cares for quick scoping it doesn't take skill like some say. It's a game breaker for sure. I love drop shots but there seems to be a lag when actually goin prone. I'm very competitive online. I play with the same 6 man crew search and destroy since black ops. And we are good players good stats but we will lose to a bunch of randoms at time people the game chose a shoddy host with poor connection enemies start sponging bullet damage and just turn n spray n I'll die. It's a little frustrating to run up on a guy for him to turn and blind fire and I die in what seems like 2 bullets and the kill cam shows I didnt even shoot. That is unacceptable for a competitive online game. Battlefield hit detection is pretty spot on when the servers run smoothly. There's no choice to not play the same map every time u join a new lobby and can't filter searches by connection. These are major things that need to be addresses. Matchmaking is a thing of the past for new players but for vets it must be taking into consideration. And not in 2 years from now when cod 9 comes. I play to win and the game doesn't allow it at times. And with a connection of 35/35 I think that I would be host more often and actually have smooth gameplay. Bf3 doesn't have these problems only thing I dislike is they only have Respawn modes. Idk the game is on track just needs major updates. Expand

Sure a couple of the game types, Kill Confirmed in particular, are a nice addition, but definitely not worth the $60+. Not to mention the $15 a pop for each 3-map pack that comes out. All I can hope is that this is a sign to Activision that they lost their gravy train of talent that is Infinity Ward when they lost Jay West, Vincent Zampella, and the rest of their loyal developers. Maybe, just maybe, they will hear the gamers' outcry from this flop and actually put some effort into the next game. Or perhaps they could just go the way they have with this series and reap in the profits by exploiting the lemmings, like myself, who will keep buying anything with the CoD name on it because they had an amazing time with one or more of the past games and are looking for that original high again. An item worth note though is the restructuring of the weapons. Every gun you use feels like it has the ability to beat all the others, all of the weapons are balanced so well and there's real reward in trying out new weapons and leveling each up. The single player is poor, multiplayer is more of the same, and SpecOps feels like it was tacked on.....There is just not enough here to justify a $60 game. If it was going for $40, ok....that would change this review a bit. To give Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games credit, they did do a remarkable job with the graphics (this is at least a four year old engine), and you can tell they worked extremely hard to deliver this.

    1.Old Game New Polish
they advertised this game like it was the greatest thing to happen to the cod series and let me say its really not. it made world at war and black ops both look decent.(which we all know they were terrible). Graphics are the same as the last 2 MWs and aren't that much better in HD or PC versions which was really disappointing at least BF Upped their game.

    2.ITS CALLED DEDICATED SERVERS.
You would think with all the complaints they probably got about the fact that this game has always had problems lagging and host being an issue of abuse that they would fix it. Again it didn't happen in fact its a little worse. In my eyes there is nothing worse then shooting at someone and you die instantly only to watch the kill cam and see that he was looking at you a whole 1.5 seconds before he appeared on your screen. that's very irritating because i hate having my kill streak stopped short because of lag and hosting issues not to mention we are all sick of getting a loss on our record because some kid rage quits and turns his Xbox off taking everyone back to their own lobbies and everyone getting a loss because of one person.

3.Small Maps and Flawed Spawn System
OK im a fan of balanced maps and not having maps so big that a sniper can pick you off from extremely far away before you even know what hit you. but if your going to have these kind of small maps then there needs to be a fix in the spawn system. it is impossible to keep a streak because of the random spawn points in not just TDM or Kill Conformed but in all of the game types across the board. how is it that every time i engage in battle with one person no where near there initial spawn point does a kid pop up next to me and pick me off that is just annoying and unpleasant and hopefully will be patched SOON!!!

    4. MODDERS AND HACKERS
I know im not the only one who loves leader boards and i know im not the only one to complain on how a billion dollar company cant manage such a small thing. you cant make leader boards and put out there how awesome it is or what a feat it would be to be on them if they are filled with kids who don't leave their basements and just mod and hack all day making the game for the rest of us a little bit less enjoyable stop being lazy and use some of our hard earned money that we put in your pocket and swing a banhammer please and thank you.

    5.Kill Streaks
I don't know about you but there was nothing more satisfying to me then dropping a nuke after avoiding death for 25 kills(not camping) or how you could drop a predator missile, harrier strike, and then call in your pave low or ac130 and cause havoc for a pretty decent period of time. all that has been wiped away it seems in the blink of an eye with a care package being the best kill streak you can get. this is also dumb because if you use it you cant collect any of the care packages so its pretty much for your team mates and it can be shot down with one stinger before it drops anything so what a waste. the M.O.A.B. after 25 kills is OK but its not a game changer because ive still won games while being on the losing end of it so how is that an accomplishment if people can still destroy you when its activated? also i can tell the ac130 time has been reduced which is not cool. all in all i don't get excited anymore when i get any type of kill streak which is suppose to be the most exciting part of the game.

    6.Weapons
The weapons in this game are ridiculously unbalanced. i know i know the higher you get the better the weapons but i remember when even the low level weapons gave you a little bit of a fighting chance but now its an uphill climb until you get the type 95(pretty much the famas) and that gun is better then most if not all the guns you unlock after that. the noob tube has been nerfed a lot which is OK but it still makes it so everyone either camps in a corner with the new overpowered 50 cal sniper or runs around with the type 95 there is no variety with the weapons anymore and its sad.

So all in all the game is what you can expect from the broken sequels of the original cod. Hopefully the developers will realize that we spend our hard earned money to pay for these games and the least they can do is give us a game that feels like an actual game and not like DLC or a polished terd.

I queued up for the midnight launch and when I got home, I couldn't stop playing the campaign until about 10am when I couldn't stay awake any longer. Every time I pick it up, I struggle to put it back down. It feels like a really solid game, but admittedly, does feel very similar to the other two and lacks imagination that could've put it on another level. Multiplayer feels as solid as ever and I didn't find it tiresome like I found with Black Ops after just a few plays. Survival mode is a very welcome addition to vary the gameplay a small bit as well as having Spec Ops Co-op missions which I look forward to plowing through. Altogether, this is still basically the Modern Warfare we all know and love/ hate but much more refined. The harsh user reviews this game has got feels unjust, I find it's still one of the most compelling, solid and fluid first person shooters out there compared to most others of this genre. I don't know what people's expectations for this was like, but from the first two it should be obvious what to expect from the third and if you played the first two to death and found it getting limp, this won't do much to reignite your interest but if you played the first two a moderate amount and found it enjoyable, you'll like this just as much if not more.

10/10 for being the most solid and enjoyable shooter I've played yet this year.

I'll make this simple. What is MW3?

Take MW2, make guns kill twice as fast, and make all maps small. That is MW3.

The maps are the biggest issue. They are small, cramped, cluster**** maps. There is no strategy other than hoping that you see the other guy first.

The beta for BF3 convinced me to go with MW3 (not to mention most of my friends were getting this game).

I've got about a dozen hours into the MP and feel that it's very comparable to MW2, but with some interesting (but good) changes and better graphics. I realize a lot of people are complaining that it's similar to previous installments. My response is, "yeah, and??". They're supposed to be similar. You can't make sweeping changes to the game and expect to keep the core audience. This particular formula has made COD the king of the hill of first person shooters. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

The campaign to this point (about 5 hours in) isn't great but is definitely a step up from MW2. I'm playing through on veteran and am thoroughly enjoying myself with it. As with all COD campaigns, the gameplay and shooting is phenomenal. I find myself not overly interested in the storyline, but if I want a story, I'll read a book. I play games for gameplay and fun, and this campaign delivers on both accounts.

My favorite part of the game is definitely spec-ops. I've got about 15 hours into survival mode and am overly impressed. This (imo) is what makes this worth the purchase. As I mentioned earlier, I've been playing COD forever and don't really care too much about the MP any longer. This mode, however, will keep me wanting more. Single player or coop (coop is defintely more fun). I haven't even had time for the spec-ops missions yet, and I really enjoyed them in MW2.

Overall, this game is about a 9.25 for me. It's not an all time great, but is worth the price of admission. I can't speak of BF3, which a lot of people seem to be whining about on here, but I can't imagine it offers more as a whole. I really think it's a shame that there are so many degenerates posting reviews on a game. A zero, really? A 2, really? Even if you hate COD, rating it as a 6 or 7 will get your point across. But marking it a 5 or under is just plain hating and has no business here. A lot of us read the user reviews on sites like Metacritic to guage whether or not we should get a certain game, and the dumba$$es marking the score down are doing all of us a disservice. Please grow up!

For example: one said reviewer also gave Battlefield 3 10/10 twice!!?! and MW3 0/10! and there are many other accounts of similar happenings, just check a few user's other reviews if you have the time. I have been playing Call of Duty since COD3 on the 360, I also own a PS3 and have played a lot of MW2 and Black Ops on both platforms. For me (as I'm sure it is for most) it is all about the multiplayer, though I have some fond memories of hiding in my Ghillie suit in MW1. In my opinion, there is simply no other multiplayer experience like it. It is the closest thing to digital crack. The gameplay is very tight and fast paced, and it feels so satisfying when you are doing well (also terrible when you are on the back foot, this is part of the magic) With the leveling, the challenges, and the accolades, it feels like you are being rewarded every time you play. It's a great feeling the first time around, but there is a sense of diminishing returns after you prestige. Not to worry, because the gameplay is so much fun. I have played 11 hours of online MW3 already and had many unforgettable moments that will stick with me. The new maps are awesome. Kill Confirmed is a great new multiplayer mode, which is so addictive now when I play any other mode I am already conditioned to look for the tags. I have a few criticisms: I have already noticed a few lag switchers in game, but I promptly saved a video from the theatre of their antics, and reported them. I hope that Infinity Ward/Sledgehammer Games will deal with them accordingly. The fact that Elite wasn't working on launch date was a big fail. Yes the game engine is old now, but it runs at 60fps and is smoother than a baby's buttocks.

Despite any shortcomings, I support this game and the developers who put all their hard work into it. I just hope lots of other fans come out of the woodwork and say their piece.

This time it doesn't even look appealing, Battlefield 3 did a much better job in that department. Modern Warfare 3 is a disappointing result of mass production and can't offer anything more than it's predecessors have achieved. Expand

Even if the multiplayer has the same basis as previous CODs, it IS different in its own way. Don't let yourself be fooled by people who say the MP gameplay is just the same, that's utter BS. It's fun and addicting as it's always been, and has a lot of new things to bring and make it stand out on its own.

I just played the 1st mission of the single player, but I can tell you I had fun as hell fighting through the streets of new york and the stock market. I don't care if it's short (from what I've heard), but the campaign is a blast.

Bashing a game for its graphics its like bashing a porn movie for its story. Seriously guys, the graphic improvement is NOT obvious, but it's there. You will realize when you play the campaign. In the multiplayer I haven't looked in detail, but it's the same engine so obviously the improvement is also there. Do yourselves and us a favor kids and stop being so retarded, go play Pong on atari or something.

Not to mention spec ops. I haven't tried it out yet, but it sure sounds like challenging and hella fun.

Long story short, it might not be a spectacular masterpiece, but it's worth your money if you've always liked COD of if you have the slightest interest in FPSs. Do anything but listen what this hater kids say, most likely they didn't even buy the game to begin with.

MW3 plays a lot like MW2 and MW, but for those complaining about it, it's supposed to. I absolutely adore the CoD series, and more specifically the MW trilogy, and was happy to see another game in the series. I've enjoyed playing MW3 as much as I had the other two, and although there are more returning aspects to the game than new it might seem, I'm beyond happy with it, and very surprised to see so many negative comments. I guess people just don't understand what they were getting themselves into. If you were happy with MW2 and MW, this is definitely the game to play; but since it doesn't seem to be as obvious as I'd have thought, expect to see a lot of old aspects of the MW series brought into MW3 as well. Played CoDMW3 for a few hours, single player is tough on Veteran difficulty but enjoyable, multiplayer is as good as always with my only grief being quick scoping sniper rifle use being rampant (hence the 9). Co-Op is a worthy challenge to get 3 stars on each mission.

I'm sorry but anyone who continually supports this company in producing glorified add-ons that get labeled as full releases is an absolute zombie. If we as consumers keep paying full price for games that do nothing to advance the medium or even simply the genre then what message does that send gaming developers? It's ok for you to just feed us the same crap over and over again? No need to be creative and try something new? Don't bother putting actual effort into new releases? How about all of the above

The CoD franchise has become an enigma, on the one hand it shows just how popular, and essential to entertainment gaming has become. On the other hand it also shows you everything that is wrong with the current state of the industry and their attitude towards consumers. An attitude that is born of our own fault of course. I know many like myself were looking forward to the continuation of the Modern Warfare storyline, instead we were helped to a heaping mass of unrelated cold war era warfare. Black Op's success was related DIRECTLY to the success of modern warfare. People did not simply say they were playing Black Ops, but they were saying that they were playing a Call Of Duty game. Activision had a golden ticket to use with the same engine and they used it on Black Ops. On the heels of a reinvigorated Battlefield 3 with the new frostbite engine, Activision had NO choice but to do some re-invention of their own or face being shadowed by the new "Oohs and Ahhs". The single player campaign is still worthy of a Hollywood award and although the soundtrack falls a bit flat compared to Warfare 2's masterpiece, it still works to add emotion.

Modern Warfare 3 is a gem that could have made an impact had it come before Black Op's however with new pretty engines coming out for most newer offerings this year many people find it difficult to enjoy the game as much they did Black Ops.

Until the team develops a new way to show off the franchise, it is no longer the king of the genre.

I'd hate to say it but if they plan on continuing their annual release schedule they are going to definitely need to develop a new engine that rivals the frostbite or this could spell the end of the trendy age of Call Of Duty..

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
