I'm your classic COD Hater. i really don't like Military FPS i think that a Video Game is meant to give you a sense of fantasy and Military Shooters don't do that for me but MW 3 has managed to grasp me in a way other military shooting titles haven't. I've played BF 3 and Medal of Honor as well as resistance but MW 3 really did Military FPS a great justice and I'll recommend it to anyone.

This game is just a glorified expansion pack of mw2. Everything feels the same, all they did was change the guns and add some customization features that do not impact gameplay significantly. Even with support killstreaks, the game still promotes camping with the standard killstreaks which are more powerful. Haven't tried the new spec ops yet but this game is supposed to be about the MP.

You made 16 maps for this game on launch day and you think they are worth 60$?

Go back to the drawing board and rethink your strategies. You think that Counter-Strike is what it is because Valve treat their costumers like you?

    Thank you!!! :)

This game is absolutely terrible, if you're looking for a good shooter, I recommend Battlefield 3. Lots of little fanboys and infants that are in love with the series will cushion the score by voting 10/10, but in reality, the game deserves a 2.5/10 at best.

They should have done better when they knew they will be facing challenges from BF3, and yet they simply made a game that's extremely similar to their previous title and ask people to buy it? Now even ask user to give them higher rating? Shame on them!

To some it is, but for me its not. It is time to break the monotony of this game. This is MW2.5 at best! This game is couple of new maps, guns, and modes, that could've been released as an expansion pack. We as a consumer are entitled to more than just mindless shooters that feel like your hand is being held the whole way through. The only good thing about this game is the Spec Ops portion of it. I don't have much to say that I haven't said already. This will be the last COD purchase I make until Infinity Ward decides to build MW, or any COD from the ground up. It's nice to see 60fps but at the same time its hard to put up with textures that are last gen in hi resolution. If you have played MW before and MW2 and are expecting something different then don't be surprised when you pop this game in and say to yourself, "haven't I done this before"? Another year, another Call of Duty. This year brings about Modern Warfare 3 the sequel to 2009's Modern Warfare 2. Overall the game play is very similar to other incarnations of the Call of Duty series. This incarnation comes with the standard tweaks to multiplayer that you would expect. Yes, this is more of the same but it's still a fun experience.

MW3 is the fat guy from Superbad getting imaginary kills. The game is as stupid as Tommy the five year old pressing right on his D pad and getting 10 kills with his super dooper skills because he found a care package(very powerful). Sorry Call of Duty faithful, the bad reviews will keep coming because modern warfare 2 wasn't our first gaming experience and we don't care how many times you prestige. Remember when CoD4:MW came out? I do. It was incredible and set many standards for today's FPS. Skip ahead to MW2 (treyarch doesn't make real AAA games), the nuke was cool the first couple times you got it, but then there wasn't much new outside of broken Perks and gun combos, and then the SP got out of control story wise and online had quality issues. Now jump back to today (I'm skipping Blops because Treyarch is a terrible developer for various reasons), 4 hours, 4 hours to complete the SP at my casual pace, what a JOKE, just like it's quality. It wasn't "heart racing" or any catch phrase like that, it was a mess, no direction, and flat out boring. MP is a hot mess right now. So many bugs and glitches. So many disconnects, "host migrating", and lag. So much lag it can make the ridiculously large hitboxes and autoaim seem even more absurd. Infinity Ward and company took Stalin's philosophy on here with the maps: "Quantity has a quality of it's very own". Yes, there's a great number of maps, but considering how small and poorly laid out they are, of course they can put so many maps in there when each were probably designed during a sandwich break on a napkin. The perk system is once again a mess and we all know what everyone will be complaining about already. The one and single shiny stone to be found in MP is "Kill Confirmed", and it would be incredible to play if the game wasn't having so many issues along with the poor map design. And of course, the horrible legally retarded respawn system is back.

Graphically, the game is something I'd expect not from an AAA title, but a B-class. The Quake engine is laughably dated now, and they've already put lipstick, blush, eyeliner, and eye shadow on that pig. It doesn't hold 60fps on consoles steady, seemingly halving itself at times even on the 360, and it runs at sub-HD resolutions. "Well just get the PC version". You want me to go there? Ok. Anyone who bought this game for PC is going to be walking funny for a week or two. NO FoV, muddy textures, "boxy effects", mouse aiming issues, and the worst slap in the face is coming, "Dedicated Servers". Yay I thought. Nope, Chuck Testa. They're only available in non-ranked play. The PC version of this game is a literal SLAP in the face of PC gamers.

Battlefield 3 has it's fair share of issues, but you can tell there's love to be found in that game, even by DICE's own usual sub-quality support efforts of the past. The SP is insulting to play in both, but at least BF3's MP has a quality to it in nearly every regard. Can't say the same here for MW3.

MW3 PROVES without a shadow of a doubt how corrupt "gaming journalists/critics" are. This game is a solid 5 or 6 at best. Take into consideration how much money this series makes, where does it go for the end user? No where, it goes into the pockets of the suits at Activision. There's no excuse for an AAA-title like this to be in the 5-6 range, and thus I'm docking points because I feel Activision is insulting it's userbase here by not putting that money back in to work for their FPS cash-cow. And finally, I'm docking points for how horrible the PC version is, as it's disgusting how they treated that userbase.

This game was in a whole a shining example of what is wrong with Activision, the developers, and the media. If the videogame market crashes again, this title will be the poster child of what's wrong in the industry.

We've all seen sequels that go too far for innovation and spoil the original game-play. MW3 is NOT one of those games. If anything, MW3 will be remembered for how much it DIDN'T change. I have thought to myself "but wait... I've already played this game" more than once.

Like another reviewer said, the campaign plays like it was written by Michael Bay's evil twin. Full of huge explosions and silly reasoning that fills in for plot. The campaign is entertaining, but it's like candy. Have too much in one sitting and you'll get sick. The campaign is also very short, which is fine with me since it's full to the brim with HOLY SH!T moments.

MP is a direct continuation of the CoD formula with it's usual flaws and infrequent high points. Bullet lag is still a major problem. Too many times have I shot a player 3-4 times, watch the Kill-cam and see that 0 shots registered. Since I have already played my fair share (and gotten bored) of CoD online, there isn't much bringing me back game-play wise... which leads me to my last point:

MAPS. So far they have been pretty frustrating. Most of the old CoD maps had a nice directional feeling to them. Your team fought toward the other team, usually ending up with the teams pushing back and forth across the map. Not so much now. Most encounters are random, 1v1 surprise moments in the maze of corridors and small rooms where the player with the better connection wins.

super clean and fun as always. Love the subtle yet high-impact changes to multiplayer, and the new gun models look bomb. People who think this a **** job for something done over 2 years just have no idea about the game-development process.

Exactly what I was hoping for, love it, best ever of the series. With the new additions, and the fact they are pretty much the only ones who allow 4 player offline splitscreen is a game in itself. I love that they left that in.

Call of Duty has been a 'copy and paste' job since the success of COD MW1, they've used the same engine for the last 8 years making minor tweaks to it, changes that should have been done the first time around not the 4th, the maps are recycled, the spawn points and weapons are ludicrous that make the game require no skill at all and caters for 10 year old kids. I play the CoD games for campaign purposes only really so naturally, when I picked up MW3 I went straight to campaign. A very disappointing story line with very few "heightened" moments. Only one mission of the lot caught my full attention and makes up for the entire story in my opinion. It took me the worst part of 7 hours to complete this game on veteran (a new personal best on any games highest difficulty). Was very disappointing.
Multiplayer mode is where CoD games shine or die for me and sadly, this one died as soon as I saw my video of multiplayer. It looks like an exact clone of its predecessor MW2. With a few new game modes and weapon tweaks, it does not change the game style at all. The tactics and abilities of almost every CoD player are the same on some very badly designed maps. With the range of maps given on this game, you would think that a half decent one would have made its way onto the game but sadly, it has not. A very poor Multiplayer experience to veterans and newbies alike.
Spec Ops is only the real decent part of this game and is where 2/3 of my points come from. A complete recreation of the MW2 co-op missions and some new and "creative" (risky word) challenges which tests the players tactics, reactions and teamwork even on the easiest setting.

Although this game will surely be up for the biggest (not best) game of the year, it has still left me with nothing but negative thoughts about the CoD franchise. A very poorly designed game.

I played the console versions too, but I give an even lower note to the PC version because the COD saga started in PC, and COD MW3 doesn't respect the PC platform. Battlefield 3 isn't the visual masterpiece we expected, but at least DICE tried to do something different. COD MW3 PC version is a big insult for the PC gamer.

The maps and spawning system are terrible in this one though. The maps are all dozens of narrow passages crisscrossing each other so you are constantly getting shot in the side and back, add to that the new spawning system and it is impossible to play this game with any sort of tactics. You cant clear an area and then feel confident the enemies will be ahead of you they will just spawn behind you and come at you from one of 6 different angles. Activision shouldn't have been greedy and fired the people that made these games good. I wont be buying another COD game until something drastic changes"

Take a look at some of the critics' reviews, and a lot of them take notice of this as well. But strangely, they still give the game an amazing score... very strange. In my opinion, this should have been released as an expansion pack, mainly because the game only switches up the gameplay by a little bit by fixing balancing issues and a revamped killstreak point system in hopes of inspiring some sort of cohesive teamwork and combating the plagues of air support mowing down any poor soul that steps into the open. Oh, and throw in a couple of new maps (which supposedly include old models recycled from the first Modern Warfare). Only then, I would I be willing to give my money to an obviously hungry Activision. I just wish they spent more time on going above and beyond with this franchise, aka not pumping out a game every year. But the game is a crowd favorite (and remember, just because everyone loves it, doesn't mean it's always good!) and a huge cash cow, so in the eyes of Activision working less on it and still selling millions is the best situation they could ask for. I can't believe i fell for another call of duty game. It's clearly the same game since 2007 and by the looks of it that's never going to change. I understand how the users are giving negative scores, If the people do not speak up then nothing will ever be done! They will just keep on releasing the same crap every year. Take a look at what Sledgehammer Gamesâ

Quality versus Quantity truly will shine...How long did activision think they would get away with making cut and paste games. Activision needs to realize that lining your pockets with money doesnt necessarily equal success. Black Ops had the same problem which should have been called Call of Duty: Classic Warfare 60's.

No innovation, this game is just an update of the preceding. The graphics are the same and the gameplay is the same. Map is only a few were added, I am disappointed.

Not enough has changed since MW2, same graphics, short campaign (shorter than Black Ops imo). I kinda get the feeling I paid $60 for a map pack. I'm a complete idiot for buying this, and refuse to buy another CoD title again. Please, do not make the same mistake I did.

For people who want to play a real good FPS there are a lot of alternatives.
People rather spend their money on good games for example Skyrim,Uncharted 3,Battlefield 3,Saints Row 3,AssaCreed,Zelda,Import NiNoKuni from Japan or hell even Rayman.

What a glorified DLC. Same graphics as well. Usually if a trilogy is at an end, they would go out with a bang, but no, they copied MW2 and pasted it onto a disc. Not good.

The sound design is of low quality, there are clear instances of copy and paste structures and areas from previous MWs, and the new killstreak mechanic for multiplayer is taken out of last year's Medal of Honor. COD 4 was new and interesting, but COD has turned into a perennial has-been. Save your money, and buy any one of the other great games out this fall. Expand

I have been a COD fan since the beginning but since playing both BF3 & MW3, I have a greater appreciation for what BF3 has done with their game. Spawning is terrible with MW3 and snipers are so overpowered. I'm more time that I have spent with MW3 has caused me to see how innovative BF3 is has a military shooter. Maybe next year MW3!!! I won't be buying though..

value for money is very good but its the same old game.. i love CoD games but me and my mates are getting bored with its old engine.. specially since they used PLANTY! of map packs/texcures from MW1 here.. even menus background feels similar to old CoD4! I say BF3 is better choice this christmas! then MW3!

Huge set pieces is what the campaign was made for and it does one hell of a job at it. Spec ops is a blast as usual and is great for partnering up with a buddy and the missions are varied and engaging. But we all know that the multiplayer is what we all bought MW3 for. Yes they re skinned MW and made it their own but the gunplay is not as "tight" as other Call of Duty games. With bullets not registering and assault rifles cant even touch a enemy at far range this game became a mundane shooter. Lag issues and lackluster map design bogs this game's greatness. This can be fixed however with map packs and title updates. But what really drags it down is the maps. These maps are forgettable at best. At least in the other Call of Duty games you remember the maps. Highrise, Vacant, Crash, Overgrown and many other shined in the past titles. Instead we get these cramped, claustrophobic maps that really don't lend to how the games should flow. Now all people do is run which is not a bad tactic but most combat involves running at each other head on till someone gets the lucky bullet. The maps are so lackluster and cramped that I feel like Im a mouse trapped in a maze designed by a 5 year old with the cheese at the end being 10th prestige which doesn't seem to be the best reward in this "maze".
In closing Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward I applaud you for rising from the ashes of what happened at Infinity Ward. But a little more polish and this game would be great. But its not too late, you have time to fix this via DLC and title updates. This games fate is uncertain but you guys can fix it if you choose. Its a great game you just have to scrape some of the dirt off. This is DTA_CoolishHero signing out. My first game review hope you guys like it.

Like it or not, MW3 has changed very little from MW2. The SP is the same type of campaign filled with explosions in an attempt to get your blood rushing yet ends up being boring half-way through. Now, instead of killstreaks, you have pointstreaks which is a failed attempt from IW to get rid of selfish gamers. The new gamemode - kill confirmed - actually does the opposite of what it was made to do. IW put in kill confirmed into the long list of gamemodes to try to reduce camping by forcing the killer to retrieve a dog tag the enemy drops. However, during my time with the game, I found that people would just camp in a corner, kill someone, wait to see if anyone else is around, then collect the dog tag and run back to their camping spot. Another thing that bothered me was the incredible amount of glitches the game had. IW finished the game about a month and a half early. They could have used that extra time to iron out the game (this is actually why I didn't give the game an 8).

All-in-all, this game has really disappointed me. The days of Cod4 and fun run n' gun gameplay seem to be over for the CoD franchise. If I were any of you, I would skip this game and save my money.

This game is not an improvement (barely so, if even) in the series. It instead gives you a worse overall package of last years game. The story is not boring, but incredibly predictable. There was no real attachment to characters. I didn't really care if "character X" died, just shrugged it off and thought nothing of it. The characters portrayed a poor reaction as well. Forgetting what happened seconds ago, as if nothing happened. Overall, I would say if you are really contemplating on buying this or not, I would say pass. Maybe wait for next years game because there is nothing new we haven't seen here before. Expand

I have played about 7 hours of MW3 online and I have a different point of view than many others here, but it still leads to the same conclusion. This game is more like Black Ops than MW/MW2. First and foremost the game has sped up way too fast. It has turned into a bunch of kids running around with submachine guns or the G36c. There is very little to do that can counter this because 1)I have played about 7 hours of MW3 online and I have a different point of view than many others here, but it still leads to the same conclusion. There is very little to do that can counter this because 1) the maps are so condensed it feels like it's impossible to snipe (unless of course you're a quick scoper) 2) if you have a 3 bar connection you won't kill half the time anyway (I usually have 4 bar but sometimes it's 3 bar) 3) It is damn near pointless to use the M16, you will get out gunned every time. The accuracy and power have little effect due to kids just holding the trigger down and spraying. I know MW2 had it's issues as far quick scoping, danger close/noob tubes, and a few other issues. However, I feel the maps were more balanced as far as open areas vs. closed tight confined areas.

I'm not going to give up yet, but I am damn close. So far I am thoroughly disappointed which is why I'm rating the game a 4.

Modern Warfare 3? Really this should be called Modern Warfare DLC for MW2 because I don't see that many changes at all the only new thing I see here are the new perks and just some new guns thats all.

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
