Mordern Warfare 2.1 should say enough. Its a $60 map pack thats all!! Not worth more than $9.99 imo.
Im thinking of asking for a refund, and I highly suggest everyone else consider it as well.

I will admit I havent played the campaign but we all know you dont buy this game for the campaign. I will get to it at some point. The multiplayer is still SO fun. The first night I sucked and wanted to jam the disc down my garbage disposal. However the second night everything started clicking and I started learning the maps and boom back to normal having fun and actually playiang with some strategy. It may not be real war and there are still campers but its addictive and full of action! The new Kill Confirmed gameplay is awesome for people like me (and most of us) who love to Run n Gun and get in good gun battles rather than sneaking around hoping someone in a 3 story window is going to snipe me with a crosshair not even close to my body (that really pisses me off BTW). Overall this game on its own is a 10, you cant judge a game off of the past games. MW3 will go down as one of the best COD games of all time. I guess what you can say is that there arent a lot of new additions, however the small additions that were made make this game so much better than the previous versions. Expand

The game is the same game it has been since 4. I mean don't' get me wrong- I will continue to play with my friends and have fun, but I am so pissed that the developers don't respect the consumers enough to add new features...this game should have been a DLC for MW2.

So, Glen, score is "suspiciously low" to you? Well, I've been playing pretty much the same game 2 years ago... and 4 years ago, and looks like a lot of people agree/have the same point. But why worry - it's shattering all kinds of records on pre-orders/sales. Activi$ion did it again.

Try bringing something new in while milking this golden egg goose, don't just stick to a working formula

The developers of mw2 had 2 years to develop a sequal, i expected improved graffix and improved all around gameplay, in my opinion they did not improve the game and these maps could be dlc for mw2. Every company that makes games and sequs is improving the games drastically but mw3 in my opinion did not deliver.

The COD 4 :MW is on of the best games that I have ever played, and if MW3 still plays like it but with new maps and new weapons with a re-vamped kill streak system then so what? Doesn't mean that it is not fun to play. My only grip about this game so far is the length of the campaign. I beat it in 5 hours, which is short and a little disappointing, but the actions sequences that happen in the game will keep me coming back. I respect the developers for not adding fluff to the story just so I can play for an extra 20 minutes. Besides, if you are only getting this game for the story, you are missing out on some great co-op and multi-player gaming. Sure people are going to hate this game because it is a big name game, but that doesn't mean that is a bad game. Activision and their yearly release of COD game is getting annoying though. They are going to destroy a great series, which is a shame. I will only by the games developed by IW to support them since they are one of the best developers out there at the moment. I would also like to show some love for SeldgeHammer games with their amazing contribution to this series. I hope that they will stay the path with IW to make great games. My issues are with the lobby system that seems like such a massive step backwards from Call of Duty: Black Ops it's criminal. The constant pauses while navigating the menus is terrible.

While I'm not the strongest player it's pretty hard to rack up a kill streak when the game constantly seems to spawn opponents directly behind you.

I also take issue with the sounds in the game. Audio options are anemic to those in CoD:BO. Game audio seems to be fine but I can't hear teammates chat unless we start a private party. I can't help but wonder if people shelling out for those Special Edition Turtle Beach headphones are experiencing similar issues.

Speaking of private parties. The fact that you can't join your friends (usually told the game is full) when they are in a lobby show the lack of effort on testing the lobby system.

The multiplayer just feels like a total mess. And since the multiplayer was the very reason for my purchase I can't help but feel terribly disappointed.

The singleplayer, is a short, albeit well done, action thrillride on steroide while having a herpes flare up. Its angry, its mean, it's "America." Besides all of the Achievements/trophies, the game has little replay value. Survival, although it may be fun at first, is the same "Horde" game mode, we've been playing since Gears of War 2. Gears of War 2, 3, Uncharted 2, 3, Halo Reach Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Onslaught DLC), Left 4 Dead, 2, Counter Strike (Mods),Call of Duty: 4 (PC), World at War, Black Ops, THE LIST GOES ON. Most of their criticisms are the "small maps","lack of vehicles", and "lack of destruction". If you want those things play Battlefield and stop hating on a game because it outsold yours. Honestly I have been playing COD since the original and it has consistently set the bar for first person shooters especially for console players. I would have purchased this game even if it had no single player campaign at all. I find it extremely hard to play single player when the multiplayer is this addictive. In my opinion a game would have to be completely broken and unplayable to warrant a "0" rating and this game is far from that. The shooting mechanic is still the best on the market and firefights are always frantic and exciting. Personally I love the close quarters combat. There is no better feeling than turning a corner, catching a glimpse of 2 enemies heading your direction and having the skills to get both kills when they have the upperhand. So Im sorry to all the users on here that played MW3 for a couple hours online, got slaughtered by me, lost all self esteem and rated this game a "0". The multiplayer is top notch but I wish they would have incorporated 4 players into Survival Mode. Also I'd hoped that playing Survival Mode would help to rank me up in multiplayer but they are 2 separate things. If there were some kind of reward to playing Special Ops that would carry over to your multiplayer that would be great. So, with each iteration of the game simply increasing what you can do, giving you more choices and customization, why is this now a negative thing? This game is no different.

With a game that is, as the User Metacritic score suggests, "Generally unfavourable", why does each and every FPS (with a serious tone) try to emulate the success that Activision and the studios achieve? The industry begs for innovation, and complains when it is not given to them, but when titles come out that give us something new, they fail to sell well at all (Bulletstorm, I'm looking at you). Regardless of whether this game doesn't innovate as much as you would have liked it to, they innovated nearly every aspect of the tried and tested formula with the original MW so, if anything, they deserve a little time to rest and do what they do well; make an addictive multi-player, a coherent single player, and a wealth of customizations.

Spec Ops, accounting for the new addition of Survival mode, is probably worth close to $60 to most FPS fans in and of itself. Multiplayer sticks with the tried and true (and extremely fun) formula, but there are enough changes and improvements to keep it fresh for another year. Yes, I have been a fan of CoD since CoD4, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yes, I would probably pay $60/year for new maps, perks, killstreaks, weapons, etc., and there is nothing wrong with that either. That doesn't mean I can't be fair and objective in my analysis of the game, a tactic that seems to be lost on some of the previous simple-minded reviewers. But, there are other changes and additions and improvements to this game that make it well worth the money. This game is very enjoyable if you get over yourself, mature past the emotional age of 16, and realize that Activision quite obviously has a very successful formula that they're not willing to stray TOO far away from. If you're that shallow that you expect a COMPLETELY different game with every installment (as many other less successful franchises are forced to create), maybe you should try a different title. It's not difficult. BF3 fanboys can go sit on a railroad spike. Your mere presence here is all the indication the world needs that the Battlefield franchise is nowhere near where it wants to be or where CoD is and has been for 4-5 years. As made evident from their reviews, If I were to total up the IQ of all the reviewers that have left a score of '0' on here, I would come up with a number not much greater than the rating they gave the game. Exactly what I expected. More of the same play mechanics...The game play is just as good as ever, online games are still just as good. The online maps are a bit annoying I will admit..to much crap in your way and slightly more difficult to memorize right away. I have always loved the CoD franchise..but it could have a been a little better..

Would you justify to pay 60$ for a new patch instead of a new game? I rather not. Activision Devs did not make same effort compare to the Dice Devs. Dice created BF3 as a new game with brand new engine, everything is a refresh, so BF3 worth 60$ price tag, but not the MW3 which they had simply reskin the texture and rescript the single player. So here's my conclusion, my money is wasted on the COD:MW3. I'll stick with BF3 until the next MW4 vs BF4. Expand

When you read articles talking about the game there are comments like, "Its the same COD you know and love," "The visuals are basically the same as MW2" "There are no real big changes to game play elements," IT MAY SEEM LIKE THIS COULD BE JUST AN EXPANSION TO MW2" I mean if this were ANY OTHER FRANCHISE in the gaming industry the reviewers would be giving it at most a 6.

I just couldn't grasp the what was happening when I read the articles, for other games that have come out recently you could read the reviews and feel the excitement in the article about how awesome the game really is (Arkham City, Uncharted 3) but for MW3 it almost feels like reviews are saying "Its the same game you have been playing since 2005, so why wouldn't we give it a very high score?" That is just totally acceptable and just lazy.

Sure people are going to buy it, enjoy it and play it for months to come. But I certainly won't. MW2 was the last COD I played for an extensive period. Black Ops I played for all of 2 weeks then sold it back to gamestop. And I am going to do the same with MW3 this weekend, I would have done it earlier but I have too much work and school.I might as well get as much of my money back as I can because I literally got bored within 3 hours of playing it (Some campaign, mostly multi-player)

The biggest change/addition this game received cost an extra $50 a year, COD Elite. I don't know that much about it at all but from what I am seeing it seems like it is nearly the same as what Bungie did for FREE for Halo 3 and Reach on their website. The ability to look up personal trackers for yourself, # of kills with X weapon, where you kill/die the most on maps etc. I don't know too much more than that.

CoD would be an example, but do the jaded people have good reasons to be jaded?

Well, yes, everything has an opinion of something.

I've heard that people have been slandering this user review page (BF3 fanboys, apparently) and i decided to weight my opinion on stuff related and not related to the game.

This is a game that is supposed to be a depiction of war, and for all it does, it does a good job capturing that 'war' feeling with the brown and bloom and the shooting, but something feels empty. i'm sure people have said this, but the game plays through scripted sequences and sometimes feels like you're playing an interactive movie rather than a video game, and i would happen to agree.

some would say "that's just good directing" but if the goal of the game is to capture the essence of war, why does it feel like every mission is just some objective that has no point other to progress a typical war story?

if the game's goal was to immerse ourselves and feel tension from playing the game, it did it all wrong. i felt some emotion at some parts, but nothing that made a lasting impact, the story was dry and was far too 'micheal bay esque' to please me.

The story has set difficulties to play on, but feels too casualized to make me want to care, i played veteran and there were far too many re-spawn points and many times i felt like there wasn't a challenge because of this not to mention the level design isn't exactly via scripted sequences and linear paths.

the sound is alright, a mention to the whole "WAR IS BAD" theme there is gun-fire and everybody yelling and things explode, there isn't much else as far the soundtrack goes, some orchestrated themes, a guitar lick or two, and that's the soundtrack.

of course, these games never did have a emphasis on soundtracks.

The gameplay as mentioned is very simple, you shoot bad guys, they die, america is the best.

i suppose i can say that the controls are responsive for playing with a controller.

well, i suppose there is more to it but the objective is basically that, it's not a very hard game to pick up and play, even on higher difficulties as mentioned.

multiplayer is the same thing, quite literally. there was no change to the multiplayer beside some kill-streak changes and some new guns and whatnot.

i enjoy the multiplayer and i could find it fun if i didn't have some rampant 13 year old screaming in my ear or some teenager saying **** everytime he gets shot in the face.

this is where i just can't seem to enjoy CoD, the fan-base is just awful and i either have to mute my microphone and everyone else and try to enjoy a game hoping that i won't get called out or get hate-mail because everyone is a whiny ****

it saddens me, i like CoD, but it just doesn't have polish, it doesn't do anything new, and it fails to deliver from a perspective of people who were looking for something else besides a re-skin.

to put it simple: if you like CoD, you'll like this one, if you don't, pass it up and let this fad bury itself into the ground much like any other Activision game.

There are numerous additions and subtle changes to the game from Black Ops and MW2, many of which are excellent. For example the new weapon sway on many guns such as ARs and SMGs when aiming down the sights make engaging at long range more skillful. The guns kill quicker than on Black Ops and the maps are smaller and more 'crafted' for intense short firefights. The Killstreaks are slightly more complex but less powerful and in objective modes, going for the objective counts to your killstreak.

The campaign is disappointigly short, much like CoD 4, WaW MW2 and Black Ops campaigns. However this is primarily a multiplayer game and that is where MW3 is strongest. Overall I give it 9/10. It is the game MW2 should have been.

Overall MW3 is a superb addition to the series

Yes i agree that the game lacks innovation, originality, limitations due to the engine and such, but that's not why you buy CoD, well its not for me, i buy CoD for balls to the wall, full speed, ass ripping! you know what your going to get when you buy a CoD game, its a winning formula that yes needs an update but its still as good as anything out there ( and i`m a BF3 player, been a BF man since day 1 also ).

Graphically this game is pretty good for consoles, its not the best but its not the worst neither, its easily comparable to Black Ops, and looks better than MW2 as that was dull and washed out, Audio is top notch booming out of a surround sound system, there simply is no game out there with the sound effects of the MW games ( yes BF3 gun sounds are on a par ), MW3 plays great if your not a sit in the corner guy wanting to camp it out all night, a lot of people do seem to be upset that there is usually multiple ways into a room, well personally i think that's great as it stops the retard tool player from sitting in one corner with his ADS permanently at the door. The maps seem to be a big debate so far and when i played it for the first few hours my thoughts was and still are that "these don't feel like Infinty Ward maps", they don't, they have that something different, and i like it, its not the usual "here is a building with 8 corridors and a big room on one side", to me Sledgehammer put there mark on CoD subtly, but enough for me to say good job guys. Weapons handle well and make sense as in, if you run around the corner and from 3 feet away i open fire with my M4 and you open fire with your Skorpion... Skorpion is a winner as he can raise his gun faster and pile more lead into me, just a simple fact, the only thing i hate about the weapons is this stupid dumb QUICK SCOPING, just ruins the games for me, if i get in a game and there is more than QS`er, i`ll leave, you need to deal with that SH Games.

Overall i think this is a good package, is it more of the same? sure it is, few tweaks here and there, but at its core its still a CoD game...but that's why you buy it right? CoD is more like a Hollywood blockbuster, over the top, all action, adrenaline pumping shooter. It does have issue`s with its Elite service which there shouldn't be seeing as the last 2 CoD`s have sold 120 million copies between them, there is no excuse not to be ready there and that is very very poor from the other team ( name escapes me) thats dealing with that side of things ( Get off the demonware server, it sucked on CoD4 hence why you changed ).

for me this is the best CoD Multi-Player yet, and i think peoples main problems here is......THIS IS WHAT MW2 SHOULD HAVE BEEN.... MW2 was a bit of a let down for me, as it just didn't feel like the first MW....and as Ive said before, this one does, it feels a lot like MW1 and for me that puts this title well above the 2nd in the MW2 series.

I`m 35 and come from the days of where an average game scored 5-6 out of 10, where 8 was a rating that suggested you bought this game and that's what I`m putting on this game, 8/10 good game but not great, lacks innovation and is starting to become a little dated, but typical CoD, fans should be enjoying this right now, for what it is, and that's a CoD game

My advice to Activision... we know there is gonna be a BO2 next year but don't put out another MW game until the next gen comes around, support MW3 and BO2 with DlC until ps4 and the new xbox land.

I already own MW2, got Black Ops and was expecting something more from MW3 I guess. What I got was MW2 with BLOPs Zombie mode minus the zombies. All the maps are so vertical and have the same dirty look. There are so many corners that now getting caught in a good firefight is a thing of the past. None of these maps are memorable and can't even come close to classics such as Cliffside, Eder Dam, Terminal, Crash and Backlot.

Any game that can keep me looking forward to the next gaming session gets a high score for me. MW3 does that and then some. Kill Confirmed and the new Strike Packages are a nice new addition that change up the dynamic enough so it's not all about the K/D ratio, which is a plus in my book.

Survival brings a new, fun dimension but it would have been more fun with a party of 4 - but then COD never did teamwork very well.

No it doesn't do vehicles, no it doesn't do revives or resupplies. But what it does, it does very well

The campaign for this game leaves much to be desired, but the Spec ops and multiplayer is satisfying and incredibly addicting. This game is the best of the series.

The graphic still better than the other shooter and continues to be a very fast paced game. You wont be disappointed and you will find over a 1,000,000 players every night. Now 1,000,000 that really tell you the AAA game you will play. Enyoy!

Modern Warfare 3? A new videogame? I was thinking that was a DLC of 70$. You will feel like you've stepped back in time 6-7 years. The graphics are brown and grey and decay-esque, the gun sounds are horrible.

It's getting so classical but still very entertaining. I only play solo because of my poor internet speed, but i'd say the campaing is even more spectacular than usual and it deserves a good rate, even if the game is short.

Great "replay-ability"! Out with COD Points and back to earning your weapons and perks. Minus all of the camper spots that plagued Black Ops and MW2. Hate all you want, but for for how much time you can put into this game and only pay a minimum of 60 bucks is there really a better all around shooter out there? BUY IT!

Started playing MW3 on release day, and to put it simply: The Best just got Better! The campaign was amazing and ended an awesome story. Multiplayer was excellent with new modes, maps and guns. The survival mode in spec-ops was another highlight. In conclusion MW3 was one of the best games I ever played.

You played MW1? You played MW2? you re not bored of this old engine? Of this patriotism? You still really wanna follow a hall of QTE? With a story even worse than the worst of the Steven seagal movie? Well if yes you should go out, you need some fresh air, I don't know try to read books, try other games, another world is possible, a world without call of team America 15.

This game is uglier then games 3 years old on the Xbox. Call of Duty is really starting to show it's age. They also reused a lot of models from Modern Warefare 2 for buildings and titles. Disappointing effort.

The new Kill Confirmed mode is a good addition, as is the updated spec ops mode. Negative points for nerfing the noob tube. The graphics definitely seem less cartoony than Black Ops did.

I remember a day when games came out with expansion packs that only cost a fraction of the base game's price. Now, thanks to Call of Duty they are able to pass expansion packs off as sequels and charge full price. MW3 should change it's title to MW1.3 since it's nothing but the same recycled content we paid for in 2007 when Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released.

So the MW3 Devs wanted me to review the game if I liked it? Well to sum it up, no I don't.

Call of Duty is ruining the video game franchise with every single release. The rating of 3.0, is 3 points too high. The game is a carbon copy of MW2. They've used the same engine for 5 years and they're just stealing your money now. But if you feel like throwing your money at crappy games then MW3

Great game. The gameplay runs silky smooth, the graphics are clear and crisp, the new additions to multiplayer loadouts are a welcome improvement, and spec ops is as fun and addicting as ever. I personally like the run and gun gameplay of black ops, but that is not a flaw of modern warfare 3 but rather a playstyle preference. Modern warfare 3 is fun and gives you a lot of bang for your buck.

hmmm... Critic score: 89 User's Score: 3.0. Did Activision line some pockets? There is only one way that +2400 users would come up with a score this low while the Critic's rave about it.... Sad.... WAKE UP - Gamers don't want the same game every year with a pretty new bow on it. Activision ran the Guitar Hero Franchise into the ground and they are doing the same to the FPS market.

MW3 it isnt a bad game it just isn't that good. this is. it brings the same old thing to the table with nothing new. this is just playing a little to safe. its running on an outdated engine that's being beaten by almost every other game out. sure they make money since they do yearly releases. but repacking old games and marketing them as new with only minor changes is just way to cheap. ifMW3 it isnt a bad game it just isn't that good. this is. it brings the same old thing to the table with nothing new. this is just playing a little to safe. its running on an outdated engine that's being beaten by almost every other game out. sure they make money since they do yearly releases. but repacking old games and marketing them as new with only minor changes is just way to cheap. if they had put more effort into MW3 it would be good. if they put more effort into the CoD series it wont die out.

all in all MW# is a safe bet in a solidly built game. it doesn't bring any imagination or innovation with it. maps are almost repacked and reused just some differences. the storyline for the campaign is good but it s just that. multiplayer is the same old stuff nothing new nothing that grabs you and holds you to the game.

I have been a huge fan of the Modern Warfare series ever since the first game. I was mostly interested in the campaign aspect of the game, and Sledgehammer games delivered. The action sequences were superb and the plot line was excellent. From what I've seen from the multiplayer, it is not much different from MW2 but I am always excited to try out the new weapons and maps. Great game overall.

You cut Marathon so objective games take 3 times as long to get back to A, B, and C. That was a deal breaker for me. Not being able to run when someone can pick you off from a mile away or just shotgun you up close couldn't be more of a nuisance. You think sprinting is overpowered and needs balance yet QS is fair? Modern warfare 3 has everything in it to make it a classic that I will play for months to come!! A great campaign with an epic conclusion, a brilliant solo and co-op experience with spec ops missions, and the best multiplayer experience that you can find to date! now alot of people are giving this game flak because it adds nothing new, and while in some respects it does not add too much new the multiplayer, it doesn't need to, the small tweaks that have been made, means this is the definitive multiplayer experience on the market to date. a new edition to this game is the new call of duty elite service ( which at the time of writing is still offline due to massive requests to join the service), in which the short time I have had with it looks like a great service and im sure this is going to change the face of call of duty forever. Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
