All the video game websites that had no balls to be truthful and give mw3 a low score which it deserves since it is a recycled game the same game as before can take the money activision payed you to give the game a high score can shove the money up each of your bunholes. And all the call of duty fan boys out there congradualations for being robbed of your money by activision.

I feel like clarifying my last review on this game. Black Ops was my first Call of Duty game. When I started i was horrible. With practice I became very good. There are all sorts of ways to play Black Ops: run and gun, corner camping and team camping, etc. I was a run and gunner while my signifcant other was a corner camper. We would literally cut off half of the map. My clan would rarely lose. We would have an idea of the area of where teams would spawn but wouldn't be able to cover the spawn by sitting two feet away from them. This brings me to MW3. I still run and gun which gives me little chance to be succesful. People literally spawn just feet from me and usually behind me. Earlier tonight I spawned in the middle of a building and had three people surrounding me. I was screwed. Another map my buddy was sitting on a wall shooting people who were spawning two feet below him. Aside from the spawning issue the guns are inconsistent. The power of weapons seems to flucuate greatly. I could go into more detail but puting this much time into reviewing this game after spending $120 for two copies is making me angry. I will be selling my copy to Gamestop tomorrow and play Black Ops until the next one comes out.

When you make billions of dollars after blacks ops you think you could actually put some effort into the next game and make a good story mode that is more than friekin 5hrs. I payed 65 dollars for a story mode that was full of just shooting 20 guys then get in a car and kill 10 followed by kill 30 more. The story is BS. Top it off with multiplayer being the same just added map packs. Rip off.

I first want to say, that I liked Modern Warfare 2, it was al-right and addictive. I hated Blacks ops, really stinks as bad as BO (Hence the acronym?) Modern Warfare 3 is nothing new. Its the same cookie-cutter shape as the last 3 (or 4?) years now. The Call of Duty series just needs to be laid to rest before it loses all of what's left of its dignity as modern shooter.

Is there really any question to why MW3 has already SHATTERED Black Ops release numbers? Which btw Black Ops shattered MW2's. This is a trend for success so there's NO way the "user reviews" on this site are that low, this is a quality product. I know Black Ops was a little slow in the beginning and it sped up over a couple months, but the alternation between multiplayer developers shows that they are unwilling to share their experiences with each other to help the franchise evolve. The maps don't vary in size at all like Black Ops did and they seem a bit small. The spawning points in the multiplayer are erratic and I usually end up dying within two seconds of respawning once or twice a match. The map size also contributes to dying immediately after a kill because of how close the next enemy is. I have never played a Battlefield game before, but I might since MW3 has seemed to be a bust. The reason for a mediocre score is because the game has potential and can be updated to fix all of the flaws, but it will take a miracle to turn this game into a 10/10. I highly suggest to anybody thinking about buying this game to hold off for a month or two when they finish fixing all the bugs they decide to fix. Expand

Spawn system spawns people directly behind enemies without a friendly being close by. Constantly dying from behind when you just checked that spot a half a second ago. In Black Ops I could turn around and kill the guy half the time, not here, instant death. Three bars is impossible to play with(I have a 25/3.5 connection), bullets have at least a 500 ms delay; one shot deaths, dying before the enemy is even around the corner, pre-fire people just to die instantly, hit detection is horrid (watch theater mode and see your crosshair smack in the middle of his chest without any damage being done). Watch kill cams and half the time your bullets didn't even leave your weapon on their screen. Knifing thin air grants a kill, knifing from 10 feet away grants a kill, knife going to their skull does not grant a kill. Sniping is too easy, way too easy; snipers can shoot as fast as mk14 with zero recoil and 1 hit kills, scoping is instant and has zero sway. Throwing knife takes forever and doesn't register 99% of the time. Did I mention hit detection is horrible? Can't shoot through 99% of objects; chain link fence with a plastic cover is bullet proof, sheet metal as thin as paper is bullet proof. A perk is immune to CUAV, thermal scope, Advanced UAV. Juggernaut dies from one grenade. Killstreaks die too fast; pavelow ("heavily armored") gets shot down before it can shoot one bullet. Last stand is still in the game; deathstreaks are in the game. Elite fails at launch; trying to cut costs with minimal servers was a bad idea. Leaderboards full of boosters and hackers (more played time than the game has even been out). Too casual and noob friendly. I feel like I'm wearing paper instead of kevlar with the 1 to 2 bullet deaths. Players blend into the environment too well. The spawn system is broken; players spawning out of the blue not next to a friendly player, but behind enemies. Campers and noobs are rewarded too much. The SMGs all suck, no bullet penetration making double kills near impossible with them unless pulling host / 4 bars.

Major problem with "head peaking"; On your screen all you see is the tippy top of their hair sticking out, where as they see their entire gun peaking over.

Maps are OK, a few of them too cluttered with unwallable objects. All the rifles look the same. The sound is horrible; m60 sounds like it's shooting plastic, footsteps are barely distinguishable from ambient noise (I'm wearing headphones that hurt my ears from being too loud sometimes).
Oh yes, match making takes forever; lobbies take longer to fill up than the game takes to end; not to mention the 45 second intermission between rounds causes people to leave simply from taking too long. Did I also already mention that bullets don't register half the time?
Last few months of Black Ops was a FAR superior product. Perhaps MW3 simply needs time to patch problems. I still wonder why they request the help of an inexperienced (Sledgehammer) team instead of asking Treyarch who have plenty of experience. Graphics do not bother me, if I wanted good graphics I'd play PC; also 60 FPS with OK graphics is still superior to 30 FPS with great graphics when it comes to shooters. I would consider BF3 at this point but I do not like large maps and vehicles. So I am stuck playing this or nothing at all.

And do you know why I didn't say better? It's because not one game is any better then the other. BF3 and MW3 honestly can't be compared to each other because they are COMPLETELY different genres of the FPS. Now I have played both games and I do prefer MW3 over BF3. Now I'm not going to get into details on why because I could talk all day about that. Why I really came here was because of how sickened and off-put I was by the disrespect and ignorance that is being presented here. Both company's, Dice and Infinity Ward, have put so much work and dedication into these games. For people to come here and give the game a 0 out of 10 just because they want BF3 to look more superior is pathetic. The step up from World at War to Black Ops was immense; the entire game felt different, unique and innovative. MW2 to MW3 however does not; the HUD is almost identical so is the Visuals, even most of the most. Treyarch have done wonderful things with Call of Duty; Infinity Ward struck lucky with MW1 and have never really built a solid superior game to continue their momentum, this show in MW3.

Then after much success with MW2 They Relase MW3, and i have to say that online multiplayer sucks majorly, and i dont say this through personal skills and scores, Im not perticularly sure if this game is played on a server or on a host connection, but whatever it is, doesnt work, if you have a slightyly less effective connection than the host, then thats it, your buggared, expect a Low K/D difference. A MAJOR example of this falls on one weapon, the type 95 assult rifle, if you are host, its one hit kill, if you are on a good connection, its one burst kill, and for the rest of us, it takes two bursts IF your able to hit them. Another issue i feel with the maps are that they are majorly small, in comparison with MW2 which had a wide variety, MW3 seems to be all small maps, with the addition of stupid spawn placements due to lack off space, its like Wetwork of Cod4 but shapeshifted to differnt shapes and levels, and this doesnt work, and no doubt map packs are to be released at a stupid amount of MS points. and the hype surrounding this game definatly doesnt live up to the reputation, if anything its been let down from lazyness.

YES the setout for CoD works but NO we dont wanna pay £40 (or respected amounts in other currency) for something that could be relased as DLC with additional maps, guns, kill streaks, and attachments, because other than the Tweaks to the graphics, MW2 feels alot smoother gameplay wise. Recently ive seen people with hacked clan tags too, which shows how lazy they have been at *steeping up security* on the game, yes right now its only a clan tag, but it could easily turn out to have hacked servers, like that period on MW2 where you had automated unlimited noob tubes, i dont feel that the people behind the game take care of us gamers, and that other companies like EA and DICE do listen to the community. the only decent thing which is the only reason why it gets a mark is survival, which is a fun game mode for up to 2 players with much potential to either get better with DLC or broing if its just new maps. overall, if you want a more fruitful online experience, then Battlefield 3 is the way to go. And if you want a predictable end to the franchise then get MW3. #*SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!*# p.s everyone but Captain Price Die, which sucks.

The game seems to improve on the multi-player I am accustomed to as well bringing the balance MW2 needed as well is getting core mechanics right which is what Black Ops needed; but where the game falls flat for me is the maps. I don't like the new direction of the maps they all seem very similar and feel like an ant tunnel. They just seem like mindless running about with no strategy or structure and there seems to too many routes and entrances to any position and there is a serious lack of the verticality MW2 maps brought to the table. The spawns only exacerbate the situation and are at times extremely poor. For some reason they also seem to have backtracked on the scaling; poor scaling of objects, buildings, doors, and character models can be frustrating. The dislike of almost all the maps is an irredeemable factor for me and no amount of map packs can fix that which is very unfortunate because the game could of been the best one yet. This is also the first time I bought the hardened edition which only makes it worse. Expand

I love MW3's campaign and Special Ops stuff, but the multiplayer is seriously, SERIOUSLY broken. One of the main reasons for this is the insistence on using latency compensation. Just by adding this feature, you are absolutely DESTROYING your hit detection system. In addition, the spawn system present is currently absolutely atrocious. Every game I have played in I have spawned directly in front of an enemy half of the time. This is ridiculous. Let's not forget the gun balance issues. If you are trying to take the series in a more realistic direction, then PLEASE explain to me why a SHOTGUN does not one shot someone at point blank range. Another thing, the map design is horrid. There's entirely too many corners to hide behind, and far too few "open" areas. I could go on, and on, and on about how bad the multiplayer is, but, frankly, I don't feel like wasting any more of my time with this game. Fix the issues present in it, and MAYBE I would rate it above a 4. If you don't care about your gamers, then we don't care about your ratings. Some of these problems were in Black Ops (latency compensation, terrible spawn system), and were vocally complained about. Excellent Game. It is not MW2. But it is similar. Lets face it, that is what we are looking for when we buy COD. We are not expecting something brand new, because we buy COD because we loved the previous, because of the game. Therefore this should be similar.

A game with an exciting campaign mode and new and inventive on-line game play. MW3 keeps you on the edge of your seat during campaign mode with its breathtaking action sequences and sharp shooting. While the on-line mode is more challenging and intense than its predecessor, it tends to lag from time to time which makes things slightly more difficult. All round a good game with no major flaws.

This is the best war game ever made. Each battle is just as if not more epic than the last. Anyone who thinks otherwise, is a dumbass. Anyone who complains about the game being to similar to the last two, clearly doesn't know what the term First Person Shooter means.

Fantastic game from all aspects, only thing missing is 4 player co-op. Great customisation, great balance, great campaign. Far better than MW2. I'd say it's a mix of black ops and MW2, with a hint of MW1... :)

Its filler for a Friday night when I am tired of listening to Emo 15 year olds ramble & whine through my ear phones as I plaster with my SCAR. Multiplayer is solid, I have enjoyed the new maps, especially enjoy playing Kill Confirmed. I am very disappointed with the ELITE. I went Premium, I am paying for a service, I expect to get what I paid for. Activision needs to prioritize paying members like me over free accounts. In the end, taxed servers, 350 people in line in the cold at midnite, and 6.5 million copies of a game does not = ratings less then 5 or above... MW3 is the game that is going to finance the next evolution of the game that will blow your mind on the XBOX 720. But thats cool, dont buy the next one. I will be happy to be number one in line, and walk out of the store at 12:05 with my copy. Since 4 there have been some great sequels and some not so much, but none have been as disapointing as MW3, I cant speak to the campaign yet, but as for the multiplayer, which is the main focus of the game, this takes the cake for falling on its face. Its so close to being an amazing game, no more stopping power and steady aim is unlocked later in the ranks so other perks get some lovin too and the guns do the damage they are intended to do, great idea there. I'm also a fan of the gun rankings to get attatchments weapon mods, and camo's with head shots get you more xp for said rank. Also the strike package concept is a really good idea. Where this game fails is its map design and the way the guns feel. The maps are this games biggest flaw, each way too small with no safe place to sit, promoting running around RAMBO style. Theres no flow to the maps, its impossible to establish where the main chunk of enemies is or which way to set up an offensive line. Me and my buddy have searched every map and we still cant find a place to jump 30ft or more to get the "Goodbye" challenge cause the maps are far too small and crowded, Ive always loved sniping in CoD but cant find a single place that makes sense to do so. Of the 16 or so maps that came with the game, maybe 3 are bearable, none are impressive or fun to play, and if I'm expected to put out another $12 in a blind leap of faith for a DLC map pack to be released soon where they supposedly improve mapping quality, they are bigger fools than I could have imagined, I have completely lost faith in the series, its really just been going downhill since 4, dont get me wrong I liked MW2, but it didn't top 4, and now this, I would have just called it a loss if it was made by Treyarch, but at this point I'm going to go ahead and say that I think they did a better job w Black Ops than IW did with this one, at least the maps were fun to play in that one, I loved Nuketown. So let me end by saying "so long Modern Warefare, thank you for all the fun times playing with buddies and breaking through so many barriers to revolutionize the way we play and think of FPS's, we will always remember the younger you" Expand

Most expansion packs have new guns and maps, and this is all the game feels like aside from it's singleplayer aspect. Then again, you will have the fanboys raving over every title that has "Call of Duty" in the name - when it's been the same thing for the past 4 years. The Singleplayer follows the cliché "AMERICA #1" scenario, letting you take control of soldiers worldwide - helping the United States as usual. The game will then and there throw in a few scripted events for destruction, replacing the need for real-time destruction and physics. Because that's so cool, right?

Overall, this would be decent if it wasn't the exact same thing as MW2. It follows the same dragged on cliché plotline of the Modern Warfare series that 12 year olds world wide have grown to love.

I know these 16 or so developers who put this thing together probably cared quite a bit for the project. But the end game was to not screw up what had been laid out before them. There's nothing new to this game, as soon as I played a round with my friend, it felt as if I was right back where I was one year ago playing black ops for the first time. Call of Duty officially sucks and we shouldn't have to pay full price for a re-hash of the same crap every year. Should be called Call of Duty Modern Warfare expansion. For starters the campaign is dull and does nothing much more than drag you through drab landscapes and let you drive a few vehicles. I was glad when it was finished.

Next, multiplayer. The spawning system is trash, even worse than Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops' "spawn and you're dead" system. The weapons are either absolutely amazing or pea shooters which is crazy and the sprinting and aiming feels clunky and slow. The thing that really gets me about multiplayer is that I have to have two perks "Stalker" and "Quickdraw" for this game to feel as fast with aiming as MW1 and MW2. The servers are also broken for whatever reason and I only play with the 60 or so people playing in my area which is annoying to say the least. So bravo, Infinity Ward / Activision! You have convinced me even further that I should stick with Gears of War 3 (a great game in my view) in the months to come except maybe for Skyrim...

The positive, I really enjoyed the campaign, it felt epic, plenty of twists and turns along the way and at the end of the rollercoaster, I felt satisfied, I won't say anymore as I don't want to give anything away. But then again the campaign was worked on by Infinity Ward.

Now, the negative. Infinity Ward, people buy your games for the multiplayer, why then did you entrust it's development to a third party? Sledgehammer have dropped the ball completely on this one. Why does it feel as though I am moving in a tar pit in this game, it's SO sluggish, traversing the maps feels like a chore, I've tried everything to combat it, extreme conditioning, changing the sensitivity, nothings worked. Secondly, to make the Assault Rifles/SMG's range more "muted" for realism purposes yet allow quickscoping is a nonsensical double standard. There is a certain trade off to be had with sniper rifles, power and accuracy at range but not good within CQC, people should not be able to use snipers as shotguns, by not removing quickscoping you have allowed this imbalance to continue within your games. The weapons handle horribly and feel much like Black Ops, (which I hated), wherein kills are less about precision and more about rattling of shot after shot towards the target hoping to see a hit marker, gaining proficiencies does little good. Some of the maps work ok (Resistance, Village), others are horribly designed and impossible to traverse about 10 feet without getting shot from one of the myriad unseen spots or by the guy that has just inexplicably spawned right behind your back (Interchange, Bootleg). I read an interview with one of the developers who said it was "too easy" to get killed in MW2, really? So it's easy to avoid being shot in the back by a terrible spawning algorithm in MW3? Ha. I turned off my Xbox last night after "running" half way across the map Seatown, only to see a sniper, and start shooting with my G36C, red dot and "stability" proficiency on, I was 15 feet away from him, the gun hopelessly rattles bullets anywhere but at him, I got two hit markers with this "muted" weapon and bang he'd quickscoped me, two seconds later I spawn right in front of him as he's running towards our team and he quickscopes me again before I'd even seen him. Any weapon in this game that is not a sniper is terrible at range but then again the sniper can be use in in mid and close range combat as well. Sums it up really. I'll be trading it in for Skyrim.

I'm not saying I wouldn't buy another Modern Warfare title but I'll be renting it the next time before dropping 40 quid on it, if I like after renting, I'll buy it.

I didn't expect innovation or a million new features but I also didn't expect a lot of the things that made this a successful franchise to be removed or disappear, so in summary, thanks for the awful spawning system, sluggish movement, imbalanced weapons and poor maps. A note to Mr Glen Schofield, the scores aren't "suspiciously low", a lot of people really did play the game and hate it, take responsibility and look at how you can fix it instead of blaming it on Battlefield fanboys, most of them are busy playing BF3 a game which seems to have lived up to it's fans/users expectations, something you failed to achieve.

This ENGINE is now showing its age BIG TIME and it shows. They are making BILLIONS of dollars and they dont invest in the engine. Its time to OVERHAUL IT. If someone critizises the game for being the same old thing, fanboys will shout about how the game is perfect and how it doesnt need to be changed, but honestly, if the game is perfect already, why even bother making a new one? Don't waste your money. Same old, same old. If you enjoy playing with worthless high-pitched voiced 12 years olds screaming **** **** and every single other profanity into the mic, then that would most likely make yourself 12 years old. Literally NOTHING has changed. If you have played MW1, then you have played all other games after that. $60 map pack cash-in from Activision. Disgusting.

    The graphics?
    They look like MW2.
    Gameplay?
Didn´t innovate at all, and just terrible.

All of the campaign missions have a 'follow me' design to them , even the stealth missions do not let you diverge from your 'follow me' leader, who strings you along every mission in some form or another.

Kill confirmed and spec ops do add some new features and they're exciting to play, but overall I feel as if the entire game was mass fed to the general public all high like converts at a George Jones convention.

The maps look like they took a bunch of random objects and put it in the design program and hit "build me a map", these by far are the worst maps in Call of Duty history. Because the maps are generally smaller and not well thought out, I find myself constantly getting a kill and dying right after because of the numerous ways you can be flanked from almost any position of the map/. Also, the campers were in the game from Day 2 and it was worse than Black Ops because the maps are so poorly balanced that you can't fight your way back up the map if you don't have upper ground, all they do is camp you to the point in Domination where you can't even make a push to an uphill flag, and these players that did this to me had common sense and an ability to hold down LT and RT, which is all all you need to do to. Not to mention, it's easier to camp because of the cluster of random things put on every map that you can head glitch over and the guns are back to killing in 3 or 4 shots. Kill confirmed, a game that I thought would prevent camping, has already catered to people who don't even go for the tags and just sit and camp the dog tags to get a good k/d. By Day 2 I just had enough and returned it. Oh and I didn't even mention is basically a DLC pack, but to me that wasn't even biggest problem, i looked at what I saw in the "new game" presented in front of me. Expand

Graphics is dated (Clearly using the same MW2 graphics engine) and whats worse is that it is quite visibly less vibrant and washed out ; (Would it have hurt to actually put some work into not making the user name icons and profiles look like they are all they same color or have the same tint? Added to that. The introduction picture to quite a few maps look way too similar. Which gives the impression that some maps are designed way too close to each other in terms of major elements and not enough unique and differentiating factors were used.

The multiplayer maps and engine are an abomination. Lets start with the maps. No general flow for movement. No central areas. Way too many open lines, hidden side doors and passageways that realistically makes absolutely no sense and also there's too much crap lying around which obstructs simple general movement and makes making a quick getaway almost impossible if your in close quarters and being shot at. Whats even more annoying is that in a lot of instances you recover (Reload/Wait for damage to wear off) from a firefight only to be shot in the back by the opposing team who just spawns conveniently just a few feet away.
At the end of the experience pretty much your either too scared to move out of fear for being shot in the side or back or you sit there and have someone spawn behind you and get you from a side door.
I am acutely aware camping is frowned upon but for more deliberate assault rifle players like myself who like to slowly move around the map using the stick and move approach and not running with a smg within a pack of 3 to 4 people this game is a non starter. If you cannot be allowed time to retreat to somewhat safe spots on the map for a few seconds to lick your wounds and reload then i think your maps need some work done to it. Additionally, the icing on the cake is the fact that there is no immunity when you spawn. Probably there was never any spawn immunity in the previous cod's i dont know but i have never been spawn killed in previous cods as much i have been in this game. It appears to be a regular thing to be able to spawn kill at will while in Black ops the only time i can remember being ever spawn killed was on its smallest map (Nuketown) and tactical insertions were involved.
I have no problems with Black Ops and MW2 but for MW3 I think you guys missed the mark by a longshot.

Very hard to get killstreaks and feels way too rushed. As a fan of both MW2 and BO, i think the game's dynamics were changed too much. I would've preferred multiplayer to be just an upgrade of MW2, including changes to the levels and killstreaks and a few tweaks to the perks. The thing with franchise releases is that we learn to love them for what they are, so why change that??? This game is like the reject child of the family, rushed out too early & failing to meet 2011 benchmarks. This game feels oddly strange to play, even though it's part of the Call of Duty series it's nothing like the predecessors. Also the fact that you have to wait to level up before the better perks are available, given that you get little ammo for weapons to begin with and the perks are in the wrong sequence. Big shame to the developers of this game as it hasn't lived up to the hype. Hard to say if the franchise should make big changes or not to the series, I for one prefer just an "upgrade" rather than major changes. My vote goes to BF3 this year for the better FPS shooter. Then Modern warfare 2 came out and its graphics were improved with more guns killstreaks perks attachments and a great campaign Having played Modern warfare 3 I failed to see the same work which infinity ward has put into there games previously, although it may have a great campaign the graphics do not look improved and looking at the multiplayer they seem to have just taken the best things from both Cod 4 and MW2 (and Black ops)renamed some perks and some new maps . Now i like the game because it has that because both those games are great but comparing it to the work that they put into there other games its a joke. Also spec ops and survival is great but gets boring with just two players after a while.
I'm giving it a 7/10 because it has a good campaign with a solid multiplayer however lacks the fresh feeling of the previous Modern warfare games

Ultimately, Modern Warfare 3 feels similar to it's brethren, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game. The single player element is still exciting, and multiplayer has more options than ever – if you're a fan of Call of Duty, Modern Warfare 3 is a no brainer.

Modern Warfare 3, while still an excellent thrill ride in its own right, feels far too similar to MW2 or even Black Ops for my taste.
  3. I never expected Modern Warfare 3 to go toe-to-toe with EA's juggernaut this year, but it came out of the gates with a tour de force campaign and co-op mode. It loses points with a perhaps too-familiar multiplayer that caters to the juvenile on Xbox Live; though don't be mistaken, Modern Warfare 3 is one hell of a shooter and a highlight for a series that just won't die – no matter how much we wish it bloody would, at times.
