    Tears of the Kingdom massively increases the standard open world games should be held to. It takes all of the ideals of its predecessor and runs with them to the absolute limit, all while maintaining a small file size on an underpowered console.

    I always have double the average completionist ingame time due to trying all sorts of dumb things, If the game wants me to get to X by crossing the bridge, I will try everything to get there, but not cross the birdge. And I'm always left with "Well nevermind eh" or "Oh cool glitch". But man, not in this game. Just think of ANY way of doing something, let it be    Absolute masterpiece.

It feels fresh (because of the new abilities, the sky islands, dungeons, new shrines, and the underground). It feels like BOTW, but so much has changed that I see it as a return to a land that fills us with nostalgia, but improving on every aspect that made us love it.     However, the creators of Tears of Kingdom and The Legend of Zelda are still doing what they should be doing, which is what other game production companies should be doing, just like [Elden’s Ring] and [ it takes two] did the same, so they got TGA.
    The game experience of Tears of Kingdoms is full of fun, and fun is the highest evaluation of a game.
    At the same time, it is also a game with a very different style and content from its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, and I am very happy to see it, because the same means stagnation, and change means progress and the future.    … Expand

    I have about 100 hours in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom so far.
    The world, physics, exploration, artistic direction and creativity are all 10 out of 10.
    There are only two minor issues with the game but they did not subtract from my enjoyment of the game. The game runs fairly well but often suffers from frame drops due to something like a lot of grass burning, etc. It is not    I have about 100 hours in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom so far.

    There are only two minor issues with the game but they did not subtract from my enjoyment of the game. The game runs fairly well but often suffers from frame drops due to something like a lot of grass burning, etc. It is not terrible and usually passes with 2-3 seconds or so.
    The other issue is that this game effectively retcons the already established Zelda lore and timeline. This is not really surprising because Nintendo does not even seem to have a firm grasp of what the timeline is themselves but oh well.

    Those are the only two minor issues I had with this game. People who are rating this game poorly are usually one of two people;

    The first are a hardcore dedicated group of 'old-school' Zelda fans who dislike the way the series has transformed from a Non-Linear story based series into an Open World series. I prefer the old style Zelda games personally, my favourite Zelda games being Windwaker and Twilight Princess, but just because you prefer the old style to the new style does not make the new style bad. They fail to judge it on actual flaws but rather their own personal feelings.

    The other group are people who mostly have not played the game and like to hate on something popular, it is fine we have all done it at some point, "how can this be so popular, i don't understand it".

    The detractors often cite the nature of this game as a direct sequel being to it's detriment, using the "same map". This is disingenuous. Towns, villages and landmarks are often located in the same place, but entire areas have been revamped as time has moved on from BOTW to TOTK.

    For example; Lurelin Village which in the last game was really an uninteresting but quaint village in the Southeastern corner of Hyrule has been attacked by Pirates, this sets of an entire side story unrelated to the main story where you begin by defeating the pirates. After this event is completed other things change in the world, you can find the pirates hidden lair and fight them there, rebuild Lurelin Village and help the refugees return to the village. There is another where you have to help a mayoral candidate win an election in Hateno Village.

    This is just one example, there are many examples all throughout the game. But obviously the biggest new additions are the Depths (which has a map size the same size as the overworld), and the Sky which happens above Hyrule. This increases the amount of content in the game essentially three fold.

    There are secrets literally everywhere, side stories, side quests. Some of them are boring fetch quests but you can just ignore them, there is not a lack of good, interesting and worthwhile content by any means whatsoever.

    One of the greatest games of all time. People saying that Nintendo are just using the same map seem to forget the over 400 caves, sky islands, and depths which is a completely full sized 2nd map underneath Hyrule. The game takes everything about Breath of the Wild and expands on it 10 fold. Other developers wish they could make a game this size with no big game breaking bugs. A modern classic!

    The FPS and resolution dips are too much for me. BotW, even with its occasional dips, wasn't having as much performance issues as TotK. I know that even when it was released, in 2017, the Switch's hardware was already quite outdated, but I feel like more optimization patches will be able to solve those dips. Either way, the Switch 2 is really more than welcome right now

    Honestly glad this game came out when it did. I wasn’t having any type of fun with gaming, but then this game came along and changed this for me and for the better. I love Nintendo and I absolutely love Zelda and can’t wait to dive back into the game. I highly recommend this game from a place of heart.

Most of the negatives I've seen basically say "I'm someone who only plays CoD on my $5K PC" or "If the games not mainly focused on being a book it's bad" or funnily enough "I hated BotW and I hate this too!". So it's just people who wouldn't be playing Nintendo games, or this style of game anyways. I have 80 hours, all story, e.t.c. and in the whole time I recall ;) that it dropped frames 3 times when I obviously went crazy with explosives. It's like people care more about the game leading up to be exactly what they expected a Zelda game to be and just don't care if it's fun. The game does some minor changes to the overworld, but the sky and depths together make it effectively double the map with even more exploration. If you cared about weapons breaking, use the weapon, get its durability low and fuse a rock to it and it'll be full the 1st time. Hate slipping? actually explore the caves and get sticky lizards and make a potion or get the frog armor. does the story not please you like a 500 page novel? It's a freaking open world game the story can't let the game truly be at your pace without being very minor. Like seriously reading comments makes me think if these are your standards that everything needs to be changed, how in the world do we have the same CoD, Fifa e.t.c. games every year, and not just that how do ANY games get direct sequels, like Horizon, Dark Souls, or Halo, those games do what this game did, change a few mechanics, build off the previous and have typically similar story beats while still being familiar enough you don't feel isolated to having 1 favorite. Long winded way of saying I genuinely believe that people either stopped giving games true chances or this is being review bombed.… Expand

    I’m genuinely awestruck by how good a video game can be. The attention to detail and thoughtfulness blew me away. It exceeds everything that I could have hoped for from a BotW sequel. Even if you’re not a Zelda fan, give it a try and explore around. If you have any sense of curiosity and wonder, this game will blow your mind.

This game brings back all the great feelings I had in BOTW, feelings I never thought I'd ever have again. The bosses in this game are some of the best ever, especially the final boss. Each ability in this game is fun and has its uses across all of Hyrule.     If you are not one of those people and haven't exploded in anger trying to figure out my I.P. address to SWAT me, you're probably going to enjoy this game. I am willing to bet if you are a gamer at all, there is a genuine chance that 97% of the people reading this will love this game, why?

    The first open world since Witcher 3 that feels this content deep, begging you just to explore and have fun knowing the whole while you are going around genuinely interested in what you're doing that you will 100% run into things you didn't know you would be finding, that add to the overall experience as you go. Remember, Fromsoftware cited Breath of the Wild which feels like the tech demo leading up to Tears of the Kingdom, as the core inspiration for last year's GOTY Elden Ring.

    I could go on, but it's everything we wanted Breath of the Wild to be, and more, a lot more.

From the open world to explore, to the dungeons to conquer and the enemies to slay, I have enjoyed every aspect of this game and could simply not recommend it more. This game is a absolute must have for switch users and Zelda fans. I could genuinely sit down and play this game for hours.

    De los mejores juegos que hayan salido en la actualidad, llevan lo que era perfecto en su precuela a otro nivel. Hace de un juego que ya era increíble, aún más increíble. Todo en una consola como la switch.

    This game is better than botw in pretty much every way. Main issue is lag which can be really bad, but I've found that switching the settings to 720p in docked helps quite a lot. It's a real shame this game can't be played at 60 fps despite the fact that easily available hardware has existed for the past several years capable of achieving just that.

    As for the game itself it is overwhelmingly huge, I've spent dozens of hours just exploring this map and I'm still finding new stuff at every turn (and I've put about 300 hours in botw). In love with the ultrahand, never has stacking a dozen springs on top of one another to launch yourself into the stratosphere been more fun (if it's ever been done at all in a videogame before this). The dungeons in this game are a major improvement, I've only done 3, but I've found the build up to them to be a lot of fun and the puzzles in them to be quite creative. NPCs in this game are a lot more interesting than in botw and the sidequests are actually worth doing, so much so that I think I'm going to complete them all. The story has some of the issues of botw, namely being the return of memories, but they do tell a more interesting story and the payoff once they're all collected is actually pretty good because you don't already know how its going to end, unlike in botw where the memories only serve as window dressing and don't tell you anything you don't already know past your first visit to Kakariko Village. Also the way in which memories are discovered is so much more interesting, being a full on side-mission, instead of just "go to picture here and press A".

    This game is just so much fun to play and I can't recommend it enough. It definitely deserves the praise it's getting, though I can understand frustration with its below par performance on a console that was already behind in technology 6 years ago.    … Expand

    perfect sequel, there too much thing added and changed but people still calling it a dlc. don't listen to them. they give 0 only because it costs 10 bucks more... (it's the right price, the graphics it's not everything but i would like to see it with just more anti aliasing)

Es cierto que no es perfecto pero la Nintendo Switch no da para más y no son nada grave tampoco estas caídas, ocurren cuando hay muchos enemigos y además haces volar todo por los aires, o sea necesitas muchísima carga en el juego para desestabilizar la tasa de cuadros, pero no es culpa del videojuego que está optimizadísimo, si no de la consola y no se puede ni debe penalizar al juego por el hardware donde se ejecuta. El juego se merece los 10 de la prensa y los 10 de los usuarios. Creo que esta vez el GOTY ya ha salido, queda mucho año y veremos, pero lo tienen difícil los demás.… Expand

    This game is so good and beautiful with a great story and anyone that says that it's the same game as botw has either not played totk very long or rushed threw the game without spending some time exploring and with the story.

    La secuela perfecta, realmente deja ver que Breath of the Wild fue simplemente el prólogo de este juego.
    Tears of the Kingdom toma TODO lo bueno de su antecesor y le mete historia, misiones, variedad JUGABLE a niveles colosales y de construcción que fácilmente puede tumbar a Minecraft.

    I am 20 hours in and it’s literally the most fun i had in all my life of gaming. This game gives you a sense of freedom like nothing else in this medias landscape and i am so grateful that i am able to play this. I am collecting video games for years now and played around 300 - 400 games. This game easily takes the number 1 spot :)

I'm about 20 hours in and I'm still just amazed and how gorgeous and amazing the gameis. I love that the amiibo system used to be only 5 A-day from breath of the wild to now.     I'm a lot of hours in and from my perspective I've experienced none of the negative. No graphical or performance issues. I don't know if some people are just overly picky or what.

    It feels and looks much smoother than BoTW was. And it doesn't feel like a BoTW DLC at all. What it feels like is a sequel. A sequel that builds on and improves what the original started. It's the familiarity of BoTW but more and better. The story is better. Monsters are so much better and there are more of them. The world feels so much bigger with the 3 levels.

    The new abilities are mad and over-the-top but in the best way. It offers crazy amounts of opportunity for new stuff to try. I've found myself running into some construction stuff and just spending way too long making crazy things. And you can use them together. Got a bunch of logs and a high place to get to? Whack the logs together, turn it upright, grab it with Ultrahand and then ascend through your nifty log stack. Need to cross a long gap but don't have enough stuff to cover it? Fuse a bunch of stuff together. Push it out and rotate it then use recall for a rotating bridge.
    The possibilities are endless. You can even fuse building parts together into spinning monster traps.

    This is a masterpiece. Don't listen to the overly picky, negative reviews. I know it's their opinon but in this case, those opinions are wrong.
    But, if you didn't like BoTW you probably won't like Tears.    … Expand

    After playing GOW Ragnarök, I thought this game will also be like a big dlc for its predecessor, well I was totally wrong. There are not only huge amount of new abilities and puzzles but also much more areas such as sky lands and underground to explore, making the game even more appealing than botw.

I am totally sure that this is a game that you must play if you like open world with beautiful places and it’s melody is delicious.     One of the best games i have ever played. It not only improves on every aspect of Breath of The Wild, it perfects it! The world is extremely immersive, the gameplay is fun and exciting and the story is much better than its predecessor’s. The only things i dont like about this game are the side quests that can get repetetive after completeing a lot of them, and the stupid koroks, but thatOne of the best games i have ever played.     The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
