    Tears of the Kingdom massively increases the standard open world games should be held to. It takes all of the ideals of its predecessor and runs with them to the absolute limit, all while maintaining a small file size on an underpowered console.

    Expanding the map of "Breath of the Wild"'s Hyrule Kingdom to mind-blowing new heights, "Tears of the Kingdom" may have some missed opportunities, but it does have a richer & bolder story this time, and develops the gameplay, dungeon designs and characters in satisfying directions.

    10/10, game is amazing and I can't stop playing it. Easily the best zelda game ever made, hopefully we can play it at 60fps on the switch 2 in the future.

    This game improved every good aspect of botw and fixed the bad ones. The content is three times as much as in botw, which was already a masterpiece in my opinion. Overall i‘d say it doesn‘t deserve the bad reviews, because it definitely is way more than just a copy and everyone that says else should google the definition of a sequel, especially because every other triple a game sequel likeThis game improved every good aspect of botw and fixed the bad ones.     No other game can give you these tools, mechanis, the game is even bigger than what i imagined, its really embarrassing for other open world games because this game is THE best open game i would say ever!.

    At first I wondered if this game would feel too much like BotW. Thankfully I was proven wrong. Not only is this game a total upgrade in every way, it also feels completely separate as a game. The exploration feels more satisfying, less empty space as well as more places to explore. I'm impressed the switch pulled off such a feat. NPCs also feel more significant.

    It’s like a fresh air, Nintendo did it again, when you think this couldn’t be better and it’s absolutely better. Totally addictive, you can’t be bored with the new mechanics of game, they having you playing by hours and hours.

    This game improves from BOTW in such a huge way... This is legit on of the best games of all time. I simply can't go back to play PC, Xbox and Playstation open world games anymore... they just aren't as good. Tears of the Kingdom will leave its mark on the videogame's industry for many years to come.

    There have been many people who, most likely haven't played the game review bombing this game. they are saying: "this is just Breath Of The Wild but with a few new sky islands and more boring cutscenes!" But trust me, this game is truly something special. even though the game builds on many of botw's old gameplay aspects, and reused the same map, the game still seems really fresh.     As a sequel to breath of the wild, this game is so much more. Those who have played both games can attest to just how much more content there is in this game when compared to what was in BOTW. Not only is there an excess of content but that content is more or less better in every way then what BOTW had to offer.     Breath of the Wild but even better. The abilities were better and so were the puzzles. Would be a 10 but sky islands felt a little bland and depths weren't very enjoyable. Fire Temple sucked ass.

    After 120+ hours in game i finally managed to finish this masterpiece. I cried a bit at the end this game Is the best game i've ever played in my whole Life.
    The exploration and the open world Is something that Will never be topped, the story Is awesome, the artstyle Is Amazing. I couldnt find negative traits in this game it's worth the 70€

    It's an easy 10 so far. I'm 15-20 hours into the game and haven't even completed the second major area I've visited (hell, I probably have only completed 50-60% of the first major area). It's less overwhelming than BOTW because they give you a bit more guidance of where to go, and a lot more clear objectives once you get there. But where this game shines is the exploration.     This is the Best game i've played ever all my life,I'm 30 and there's not some game like this one, BOTW was just the prologue of a new legend.

    Note: down ratings are from the peopoe who hacked the game before release and haters with no arguments, "hyrule is the same place", thas isn't true you need to explore to know that the map is not the same.

    Normally I don't rate games or write review, but TOTK is exceptional game , no open world could even come close to the level of what you could experience while playing. Update: after spending few hours playing the game , I changed my mind I would give it 20 not 10 , though the basic graphics and frame rate stll fun to play and explore, it is real sequel of the game means continuation of BOTW.

The new game mechanics and abilities add a whole new layer of creativity to the game, and the different map levels introduce lots of new areas to explore.     The story and game play is way more refined than BOTW, and it shows. The dungeons are better (for the most part, which I will expand on) and aren't boring. Almost everything succeeds it's predecessor's.... EXCEPT FOR THE MUSIC!!!!!

    When I watched the 3rd trailer, I thought the music would normally be that good! Most of the tracks in this game suck balls, and the dungeons are no exception! Save for colgeras theme, nothing in this game sounds good! And the towns didn't get new music either!!!!!

    Jokes aside, the one thing bringing this game down from a 10 is the major lack of bangers. Hopefully the dlc can give me what I desire.    … Expand

    - Determinadas mecánicas como el farmeo de dragones por piezas y cada 10 minutos aprox, solo para obtener un objeto por aparición.

    - A ratos la pantalla se queda colgada o se ralentiza inesperadamente debido al exceso de partículas o efectos ambientales.

    - Misiones secundarias anecdóticas y carentes de desarrollo personajes. Salvo pequeñas excepciones que utilizan las mecánicas y al menos divierten..

    - El cringe que da la sobredosis de gemidos que suelen emitir los NPCs.

    - Combate final sencillo y el cierre de la trama bastante cliché con el "poder del amor" que arruina el momento del sacrificio, estropeando con ello el desarrollo de cierto personaje.

    A pesar de todo lo malo, el juego es bastante solido y entretenido como experimento de mundo abierto. La mecánica de subsuelo aporta bastante la experiencia, junto a la inclusión de trajes amiibos ,como contenido gratuito, en misiones secundarias. Así mismo, el personaje de Kabalit que opera como tutorial de mecánicas, dando un aire fresco tras cada encuentro y por ultimo el uso de habilidades de Link que son mas intuitivas e inmersivas en la experiencia, permitiendo acomodar el juego al gusto del jugador.    … Expand

If there was any flaw with Breath of the Wild it was the, at times, aimless exploring, so Tears of the Kingdom thought, why not add more of that and gave us more areas to explore, which can be difficult like the sky locations, or a bit tedious like the underground one.     The shrine puzzles are actually better than the original, the characters, even legacy ones like Zelda are somehow more interesting arguably than they've ever been, the new music is perfect and blends in well with music from Breath of the Wild so much so that I almost wonder if they weren't used tracks from the original, because my gawd are they amazing, and the new mechanics, while they have a slight learning curve are absolutely fantastic when you clear it, and while there is an occasional lag spike, it happens so little it barely warrants mentioning, but barely isn't nothing so I did, and it is an overall fantastic game. It probably won't be my GOTY, even though it will be for the Switch, but it is absolutely worth the price of admission, and it's the only hiked up priced game that I think I can say that for. If you can play it, play it, it's a wonderful world to get lost in.    … Expand

    The story is much more interesting than I anticipated. The cutscenes are interesting and worth unlocking. The gameplay felt good. Fusing items allows for interesting weapon combinations and dynamic arrows for ranged fighting. When you get armor upgrades or better weapons, it feels noticeable and rewarding. There is so much to explore and collect that if you want to you can spend 100's of hours doing so. Even if you don't like going after every extra thing, you will be rewarded for the things you do accomplish.

    It's not perfect though. For starters, they keep the same quest beats - starter area, then 4 main quest objectives and a few others. It is more fleshed out for some of the main quests but I didn't like how samey certain aspects felt. The sage powers are really poorly implemented. I understand you only have so many buttons but I never used them because they weren't easy to access in combat. The depths is a neat addition but the borders of it can be unintuitive at times. Also I hate that Link is still silent as it makes any voiced scene he is in awkward.

    Overall, if you have played and enjoyed Breath of the Wild then you should absolutely give this a shot. If you haven't, I think you can hop into this just fine. Yes, it takes place after BotW but if you know who Link and Zelda are the rest of the small gaps aren't a big deal as they are existing hero and princess respectively. There is a ton to do and explore and this is one of the premiere games you can buy on the Switch.    … Expand

    Masterpiece the 2nd....Used the BOTW formula and shuffled it to make another once in a lifetime game. It's hard to even comprehend the genius of making 2 Masterpiece games, but the Zelda team did it.

    This game is GOAT. It has everything I ever wanted in a game. Large vast beautiful environments with lots of verticality and subterranean environments to explore.     I thought Tears of the Kingdom is a really good game. Its just as good as Breath of the Wild. The only difference between the two gameplay wise is the new abilities. I spend most of the time aimlessly wandering around in the open world trying to progress with the game, same as BOTW. I'm kind of concerned about the future of the Zelda franchise.     Nintendo has done it again. Once you learn the controls it's even better then you'd think. I have to say play for a few hours and your in deep yet have done little. They reinvented the flipper in such a great way. Enjoy all the different thing you'll create and explore. I've also found some slight souls elements while playing.

    i am changing my negative review to a 10 , i was initially unimpressed but i stuck with it and if you guys give it more time i promise you its better then BOTW. Yes the graphics are terrible lol but its still fun and hopefully when switch 2 comes out in 2024 it will run a lot better. If you like BOTW then you will love this game , just give it some time to learn the new mechanics

    I did not expect to love this game as much as I do. There's just so much goodness to explore and do. The world doesn't feel stitched together as many open world games do. Many open world games struggle to fill the world with content without everything feeling bland. Tears of the Kingdom does not run into that problem.     10/10 because it's one of the best games I've ever played. But not quite perfect. People like Hestu and Bolson not remembering Link was an objectify dumb decision and the story is bare bones. But the gameplay was literally the best game ever made. So it gets 10/10

    Couldn't wait playing this game and it did not let me down. There is so much interesting stuff to explore in this world. The new mechanics mean that nearly every single thing on the map is interactive and can be used to make a useful weapon. Really awesome. It has also a really great story, especially if you get all of the memories.

    A genuinely great follow up to BOTW. A game that does things better in almost every way, while also striking a new tone that doesn't render the last game redundant.     The new abilities are an absolute triumph. Obvious standout being Ultrahand which allows you to construct anything from a simple log bridge to cross a ravine, to fully functional mechs or attack planes. Outside of that new tools like Fuse and Ascend also offer a ton of variety. The former offers an imperfect solution to the divisive weapon breaking (something I was not a fan of in BOTW) by giving you a way of making your own new weapons on the fly with all of the different sorts of materials you came across in the previous games. Ascend was a pleasant surprise for me in just how practical it was. So many new movement abilities suddenly become clear and you start to see new paths that you can jump up to using it.

    I will say that some of the praise I've read in regards to things like the games dungeons is perhaps a little liberal. Yes, TOTK's iteration of a dungeon is definitely improved over BOTW's Divine Beasts. But if we're being completely honest with ourselves, the bar set by those isn't even off the ground, so making something better than them wouldn't have been hard.
    Sadly there's a lot of shared DNA. The dungeons here amount to the same "press five buttons and fight a boss" as BOTW. At the very least the dungeons have their own bespoke designs and unique bosses in them.

    The story is a vast improvement over BOTW, in that there actually is one.
    I love the idea of what the last game was going for, but I think the slightly more guided experience of TOTK works much better for having a more complete feeling narrative as well as a more well designed sense of progression.
    There are some great character moments here, and a really thrilling build to the big finale of the game that feels genuinely epic.

    The elephant in the room perhaps being that the game does indeed reuse much of BOTW's map. There are new additions of course, in the shape of the sky islands that litter the clouds above Hyrule as well as the depths; a vast map that matches the size of the surface underground littered with valuable resources, new enemies and bosses and some hidden quests.
    The touched up surface map from BOTW is largely unchanged, however there are some new settlements as well as caves and wells that can feel like reason enough to re-explore the now six year old map.

    Overall, it's bonkers to call this a DLC. It has more than an enough to be two full new games. If you didn't vibe with BOTW because of the stark departure from older Zelda, it may be worth giving this a shot if you know someone who can put it down long enough to let you play it.
    If you loved BOTW and haven't picked it up through fear of it just being BOTW 1.5, fear not. This is a new game through and through and is definitely worth your time.    … Expand

    I have lost my passion for gaming. TOTK brought it back. This game is not perfect and still I can call it masterpiece. The amount of heart that the devs put in to this game is commendable. Looking forward for another excellent Legend of zelda in the future.

    I enjoyed the every aspect of this game. The only observation that I would like to mention and it is not a bad thing, is that the game has so many things to do and explore that overachievers might feel overwhelmed with so much content.
    However if you relax and take it slow, the game becomes extremely pleasant and ejoyable.

    Totk desvela los grandes misterios de su predecesor contando una poética historia de sacrifico tras la fundación del Reino de Hyrule, y desvela los misterios detrás del Cataclismo y del entonces gran misterio de los Zonai. Ahora, Hyrule se ha vuelto un mundo más interactivo gracias a la implementación de las nuevas    Tears of the Kingdom podría haber sido un juego más ambicioso.

    Totk desvela los grandes misterios de su predecesor contando una poética historia de sacrifico tras la fundación del Reino de Hyrule, y desvela los misterios detrás del Cataclismo y del entonces gran misterio de los Zonai.
    Ahora, Hyrule se ha vuelto un mundo más interactivo gracias a la implementación de las nuevas mecánicas y la introducción de los artilugios Zonnan, que han logrado permitirle a la comunidad jugar de formas inimaginables.

    Pero aunque he disfrutado de cada implementación, con +120 de horas invertidas, siento que 6 años de desarrollo ha sido demasiado tiempo para la poca innovación que Nintendo ha trabajado en esta continuación del Botw.

    En primer lugar, aunque la historia es muy cautivadora, tristemente su narrativa es simple y deja mucho que desear. Los acontecimientos importantes se cuentan por medio de recuerdos que puedes recolectar opcionalmente, y al final de cada misión principal te cuentan la misma historia hasta que llegas al desenlace en el Castillo de Hyrule. Aquí no hay cavidad para la sorpresa, ya que la historia en sí es muy intuitiva desde el principio, lo que provoca también que no se produzca mucha empatía con algunos personajes debido a la falta de interacción real.

    Luego, a parte de algunas alteraciones significativas en las regiones donde toman lugar la historia principal, todo lo demás sigue siendo exactamente lo mismo, lo que provoca que se pierde la gracia por explorar.
    No hay que olvidar que este Hyrule fue diseñado para Botw. Cada camino, colina, o paso, estaba pensado para conducir al jugador a un punto estratégico del juego, e incluso el mismo terreno se planificó para contar los acontecimiento del Cataclismo (Todo ello redactado en "Creando a un Héroe"); por lo que al mover las cosas de sus sitio muchas rutas pierden su propósito.

    Después están las Islas Celeste y el Sub-suelo. Aunque ahora tenemos nuevos niveles de exploración, estos espacios se sienten vacíos y parecen que no tengan un autentico papel en la historia.
    El subsuelo, por ejemplo, no es más que un Hyrule invertido con los mismos diseños de minas repartidos por todo mapa, y con el único cometido de ser una fuente de extracción de Zonanio.
    Y con las Islas Celeste ocurre lo mismo, mas allá de la Gran Isla de los Albores y Las Islas del Trueno, casi todas las demás islas parecen carecer de importancia.

    Y finalmente está su extraña armonía con Botw. Aunque es comprensible su familiaridad con el juego, ya que Totk en sí es una continuación del mismo, el inconveniente reside en que al reciclar las mismas mecánicas solo ha logrado que se pierda bastante el concepto de "Nueva Experiencia"; tanto su jugabilidad, progreso, experiencia, y la forma de contar la historia, siguen el mismo patrón.
    Pero también se ve bastante descompensado tras la eliminación inexplicable de todos los componentes que definieron a Botw, como las Torres Sheika, Los Guardianes, o las Bestias Divinas. En ningún momento se te explica el porqué ya no están presentes en el mundo, simplemente han sido borrados del juego; como una forma por parte de Nintendo de decir que "este es un juego diferente en un mundo diferente" (Es triste entrar el Santuario de la Vida y ver que lo han sustituido por una cueva).

    Personalmente, me hubiera gustado haber sido más partícipe de los acontecimientos del juego, y no haberme sentido como un mero espectador. Aunque Zelda se enfoca en el gameplay, sus juegos más modernos han tratado de involucrar al jugador en la historia, tanto mental como emocionalmente, pero como en Totk se enfocan más en los acontecimientos del pasado lejano, hace sentir como si Link no fuera más que un extra en la historia; e incluso se percibe como si tratasen de involucrarle de forma forzada.

    No digo que Totk no sea un buen juego. Desde que lo comienzas, hasta que lo terminas, se puede sentir la dedicación por parte del equipo de Nintendo. Pero creo que debido a las grandes expectativas procedentes del gran juego que fue Botw, Nintendo se debió de sentir eclipsado para intentar crear una experiencia mejor, por lo que optaron por ir a lo seguro y volver a utilizar la misma fórmula.

    Sólo espero que de aquí a 6 años, en el próximo lanzamiento de Zelda, si es que ocurre, podamos volver a ver otro juego igual de ambicioso, en donde vuelven a experimentar y reinventar lo que fue la saga por más de 35 años.    … Expand

    30 Hours in, I’ve only scratched the surface. Tears of the Kingdom improves upon Breath of the Wild's formula and changes it in unique ways. If you liked Breath of the Wild, and/or previous Zelda games, this is an absolute must play.

    people seem obsessed with such titles of game of the year and all that. Can we just call this Game! move on to just enjoying a masterpiece that is a full coherent game out of the box, allows for endless fun, daft designs and korok torment without even needing to add in mods

    This game is REVOLTINARY! me, a game designer cannot fathom how this was built on a switch, compared to the last game Botw it is clear that they were designed by the same people with the same people in mind, Zelda players who like exploration, creativity and a little bit of trolling.And the story is AMAZING!

    I wasn't sure how Nintendo would find a way to top their work in Breath of the Wild back when it came out, but I feel they have here – with years of more polish applied and refined exploration. [Issue #66 – July/August 2023, p. 71]

    The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
