    Can’t put the game down. I thought I would like it but it won’t be as good as Breath of the Wild but it ended up being better in some ways. Game of the year contender for sure.

    Not a perfect game performance-wise and has a "been there done that" feel at times, but the creativity injected into the original formula makes this a CLASSIC. The fact that you can combine and manipulate most items and objects in the environment now means this is even educational for children. The puzzles and early fights require a lot of creativity and problem solving.     Absolutely incredible game! I never thought they'd even come close to BOTY, but I was wrong. I highly recommend this masterpiece!

    No game will come close to how complex and big TotK is, Nintendo stepped up BotW by a thousand.
    The reuse of the map with changes is great, there are caves now to explore, new locations with people living in them, new shrines, and more. There’s too the sky with the islands that contain puzzles to obtain rewards and tests to unlock shrines. And the underground, which was something many fans    No game will come close to how complex and big TotK is, Nintendo stepped up BotW by a thousand.
    The reuse of the map with changes is great, there are caves now to explore, new locations with people living in them, new shrines, and more. There’s too the sky with the islands that contain puzzles to obtain rewards and tests to unlock shrines. And the underground, which was something many fans were asking for, it is spooky and has dangerous enemies, and many ways to traverse it. They gave us traditional Zelda dungeons, a proper hooking story, new characters, new abilities, new materials, new ways to do whatever you want to accomplish.
    It’s clear that Nintendo listened to the fan’s critics about BotW and demands for the sequel.
    There’s one thing many can dislike, which is the graphics and performance. It’s running on a Switch, you can’t ask them to magically make it more capable of better graphics. There are some fps drops using the abilities, when you are fighting enemies or making big fires, but it not that it is unplayable. Personally to me it looks great, the art style helps the game to not look that bad considering the resolution it runs at. Most realistic-looking old games age really bad compared to the current ones with similar style, that won’t happen to TotK, just like it didn’t happen to Wind Waker and Skyward Sword. With a file size of only 16 gigabytes, they managed to make a better game than the ones that are a hundred gigabytes. For those points that I mentioned, and more (being a Zelda fan makes it more special to me), The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom deserve a perfect score of 10/10.    … Expand

    This game, along with its predecessor BOTW, as well as RDR2, GTA V and The Witcher 3 are the proof games are the best form of entertainment.
    This is simply the best game ever made. Period.

    Superaron con creces lo que parece casi imposible, una aventura unica llena de sorpresas, con las nuevas mecanicas incorporadas para surcar los cielos y el subsuelo, llevo mas de 30 horas jugando y sigo sintiendo un mundo vivo y abrumador, donde las posibilidades son casi infinitas.

    Botw‘s worthy successor is finally out. At first I was afraid that, after 100+ hours with Botw, I would find this one boring, but was surprised when I was a few hours in and noticed that it was quite the contrary: a bigger, more diverse world divided intro three realms, new weapons, new enemies, new locations and amazing new gadgets that leave nothing to your imagination. A masterpiece.

    I was not a fan of Botw, for me it was lack of something, it was a prototype, but now WE have the Real game! And what a game OMG, exploration + creativity + Zelda feels = perfection

    One of the best games ever! The negative scores are from haters. You need to put in at least 10/20 hours into this game to be able to provide an unbiased review - most of the haters have not even played the game or only played it for a few hours. Nintendo did it once again, what a fantastic team of developers.

    I was a bit skeptical at first, was worried about how it would run on the switch but from the moment I started playing I was hooked, this game delivered in ways I wasn't expecting. The exploration in this game is amazing and the side quests are also as fu as the main quest. This has become my game of the year.

    Just amazing. The game retains all the good stuff from Breath of the Wild, whilst also adding multiple layers with brand new mechanics that can be used in so many different ways. On top of this, there’s a more present storyline with far more challenging boss encounters. Just Fantastic

    Just completed the game at around 130 hours. I have not done everything, but have done most things. Improved upon botw in nearly every way. The story was solid, and the final boss battle was GOW level in how epic it was. I’m happy to complete the game, and it was one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played for a long time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to first address the ppl giving low scores or Average scores as well as negative reviews (7 or below). I read about 10-15 of them. I would say 12 of them didn't like the first game or at least saw BOTW as a 7 (based from there review). If u loved the first, you will love this one MORE.

    Now regarding the comments stating that the map is reused- the map IS brought back, however, it is revamped as well as the shrines are in different places and shrines themselves are completely Different puzzles and brand NEW. If anyone here has played Bloodborne - the old hunter DLC took an already played area but COMPLETLY revamped it- basically making it feel like a new area and fresh and almost unrecognizable. It's the same here in this game. You go to a familiar place and your not like "oh this is the same old place" - its more like "Oh i didint even know this was that place from b4".

    I want to say this as my final thoughts. Zelda BOTW was my first Zelda game ever and when i bought it i had no expectations and didint know what to expect, and was blown away which lead to be replaying it 4x over the years. When i got this game I told myself im sure this is the same thing as b4 there's no way they can change it up, AND for the first few hours i was like "yea this is just more BOTW" BUT when I continued i realized that i was so wrong and much better and more then BOTW2.    … Expand

    Like his predececer, TotK is an amasing game. The freedom that Nintendo give to the player is just amasing, it's a very smart game and level design as it was for BotW.

    I was scare of the "reuse" of BotW map, but the changes that are done on it make it really fun to explore again, and the new areas are just amazing. The all crafting system is really efficient, I just love testing new    Like his predececer, TotK is an amasing game.     The all crafting system is really efficient, I just love testing new creation and there are so much possibilities that I am pretty sure I will spend more houres on it that on BotW (wich was almost 300 houres).
    On graphic side it is very similar to what BotW offered. It's a bit old gen of course, we are on Switch, but it's working and the Art Direction make it beautiful.
    I didn't experienced any freez or major slowdown, I got the patch that was deployed day one to fixe theses issues.

    Can't wait to see more, this is the kind of game that need more than 100 houres playing to have an idea of the real potential of it.    … Expand

    The game is amazing, its a Zelda game with new mechanics... Everyone complaining that its not the "old" Zelda need to realize that not every game should be exactly how it was before, change is good sometimes... And Nintendo certainly showed us with these last two Zelda games lol

    엄청 강력한 최강 보스몹들이 등장해서 나를 공격한다 하더라도 마치 영화 매트릭스를 보는듯이 적의 공격을 느리게 볼수있는 기술을 사용하면 적의 공격을 간파해서 피할수있다.(그대신 그 기술을 쓰면 나 자신의 움직임도 느려진다. 마치 영화 매트릭스처럼 말이다.) 그리고 적의 공격을 뒤로 점프해서 피하는 방식도 진짜 재밌고 그 점프와 동시에 적에게 순식간에 달려들어 연타 공격도 가능하다.

    특히 젤다 왕눈은 자유도가 진짜 뛰어나서 전투의 자유도마저 뛰어나다. 창의적이게 자유롭게 전투가 가능하다. 그냥 단순히 적과 싸우는 개념의 다른 오픈월드 3D 액션 ARPG들과는 차원이 틀리다.

    몇 가지 창의적인 재밌는 전투들을 예를 들자면 싸우다가 무기를 떨어트려서 무기를 다시 줍기위해 고개를 숙이는 몹에게 나뭇잎 파초선 부채로 날려서 지상으로 떨어트려버릴 수도있고,

    불부메랑 무기를 만들어서 적에게 폭탄이 있는 곳으로 유인해서 불부메랑을 이누야샤의 비뢰골처럼 폭탄에 던져서 그 주변에 몹들을 전부 다 폭사시키거나 불태우는 것도 가능하며,

    방패에 로켓을 장착해서 '날아라 슈퍼보드'처럼 방패를 타고 날아다니는 것도 가능하다. (단순히 우주선처럼 하늘 위로 올라가는 것도 가능하지만 옆으로 날아가는 것도 가능하다.)

    또한 전투기나 비행기를 만들어서 날아가다가 하늘섬에 있는 몹들을 발견해서 몹의 화살을 방패로 막거나 피한 후에 전투기의 미사일로 몹들을 공격하는 것도 가능하다.

    그리고 윙건담처럼 로봇을 만들거나 전차를 만들어서 몹들을 깔아뭉개거나 밀어버리거나 공격도 가능하다.

    이처럼 전투 방식이 단순히 칼, 창, 활 등으로만 공격하는게 아니라 그냥 맵에 있는 '모든 것'들을 이용해서 다 자유롭게 공격이 가능한 것이다. 창의적이게 아이디어를 짜내면 전세계에서 나밖에 없는 무기로, 나밖에 쓰지 않는 전술 병법으로 적을 공격할수도있는게 강점이다.

    뭣보다 록 온(Lock-on) 시스템이 기가 막히게 잘돼있다. 근데 이는 당연한 것이 게임계 세계최초로 '록 온'이라는 전투 시스템을 발명한 것이 다름아닌 '젤다의전설 시간의 오카리나' 였기 때문에 록 온의 원조인 젤다의전설이 록 온 시스템의 고수인 것이다.

    그런데 젤다 왕눈은 단순히 전투 타격감, 자유도만으로도 설명이 불가능할 정도로 진짜 게임 자체가 완성도가 뛰어나다. 그냥 해보면 안다. 백문이 불여일견! 해봐라!    … Expand

    This takes everything that was great about Botw and takes it to the next level. Ultrahand alone makes this game worth it, and that's only one part of what makes this great. A must play if you like open worlds.

    Having just recently played botw going directly into Tears of the Kingdom, I was at first sceptical of the reusing of the same world but not anymore. Nintendo not only expanded upon the lore of the world but made it feel so different and alive that its exciting. The game feels fresh and new and caters to both old and new fans alike. With the day 1 patch, the fps has been very good andHaving just recently played botw going directly into Tears of the Kingdom, I was at first sceptical of the reusing of the same world but not anymore. Nintendo not only expanded upon the lore of the world but made it feel so different and alive that its exciting. The game feels fresh and new and caters to both old and new fans alike. With the day 1 patch, the fps has been very good and pretty smooth with minor dips in heavily populated areas but doesn't detract from the experience. The new mechanics are exciting and really open up on what you can do and how you traverse the world. I think the most surprising is the traversal between sky, to the land of Hyrule and even to the underground is seamless with no loading screens between. You can dive from the sky islands straight into a chasm leading to the underground without any issues. Its pretty impressive and it shows how much polish and thought the developers put into the game. They've redone the music and sound system, providing a better experience and adding awesome musical scores that really add to the experience. Overall, this is game of the the year material. I highly recommend everyone pick this up and play.… Expand

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom the 20th mainline game of the franchise, fix many of Breath of the Wild flaws such as weapon durability, a more engaging story/plot and a better progression system, the Fuse and Ultrahand abilities much more intereting combat/puzzle possibities thanks to the expanded phsyc engine, and tree layers of exploration(the sky, surface and the depths), each one offering different kind of gameplay styles, with a vastly expanded Hyrule, the depth for a more challeging game, and the sky for a more puzzle focused gameplay, Dungeons are back in form that a mix of Divine Beast and tradicional style Dungeons, the lead up to the Dungeons are much more improved also compared to Tears of the Kingdom, with better enemies variety now, Tears of the Kingdom is perfect mix of the BOTW formula and the tradicional Zelda formula, perfecting everything Breath of the Wild have, when also adding elements fans of the franchise asked like tradicional Dungeons, a more engaging story and so on.… Expand

    I have reviewed 2 games in my life and this is one of them. I cannot even describe the magic of this game. I did not think this game would be able to recreate the magic of BOTW for me and somehow this one did. Literally my only complaint is a few frame drops here and there but they were few and far between for me. The creativity, the narrative beats, the art style..     I played 30 hours time. but still amazing contents are here. botw was released, 97 Metacritic. but this is another level. totk is sequel of botw but still many contents and wonderful story. you must play this game.

    The polish on the original design and mechanics is flawless. I wasn't a huge fan of the first game although I agree it was incredibly well made, but this game has made a lot of decisions that has made me actually love this game despite those things I don't like incredibly well done and an excellent sendoff for the new Zelda experience on the Switch.

    So far I’m 20 hours in and I can’t let my controller go seriously not till god of war and Elden ring did I play this much, any one review bombing is probably sad because this isn’t call of duty 5683 running at 60 billion fps lol, anyways this is easily game of the year and I can’t wait to dive back in

    Tears of the Kingdom is as close to perfect as it can get. The only issue is the Switch itself, because it's borderline criminal to chain this absolute gem of a game to a piece of hardware that was already outdated in 2017.

    Everything else though...an absolute masterpiece. The world is amazing, the story is mysterious and fun to uncover, the NPCs are always worth talking to, the combat    Tears of the Kingdom is as close to perfect as it can get.     Played this game since Thursday. It’s just awesome. Yes It is in BotW hyrule, but yes this is exactly where I want to be. The new mechanics, the upperworld, the lower world gives me enough new to see. Idea 10

    BOtW but 10 times better, never been this hooked to an open world game like this one. i thought playing BOtW means i already saw it all but nahhhhh highly recommended!

    First of all yes the game reuses the same surface map, although it’s not the same, for example all of the lava in death mountain is gone for the most part, and none of the towers and shrines from the previous game are there anymore. Tears of the kingdom map is easily DOUBLE the size of breath of the wild’s map, the game has new caves, sky islands, and a completely new map called the depths which goes through all the underground of hyrule, so no it’s not just the same map, it’s double the size.

    The gameplay is not the same, all of the old abilities have been replaced with new ones that are more useful and fun to use such as the ultra hand which allows you to build all sorts of things, or a new ability that allows you to combine items which can be used to make a flamethrower spear.

    The towers and shrines do return however, but the shrines are a lot more fun to complete and doesn’t feel much like a chore anymore, with the new abilities the game allows you to complete the puzzles in multiple creative ways and it’s not as repetitive like in Breath of the wild. You no longer have to climb all the towers to unlock the map, instead it’s a mini side quest that takes around a minute or 2 to complete, and once you’ve done it the tower launches you high in the air which is useful to explore the sky islands.

    The dungeons are really well made and fun to explore, they are not like the traditional Zelda dungeons but me and my friend spent a couple hours taking turns solving the puzzles of the fire temple, and that convinced him to buy the game, it was a blast, although you still have to activate terminals to fight the boss (By the way the bosses are way better than botw). This game is so fun to play, and it’s definitely a worthy sequel of BOTW that improves in most of the aspects from the previous game.

    Only real complaint is the frame rate, but that’s not a game issue, it’s a switch issue.

    Tears of the kingdom is not a dlc, it’s a SEQUEL, a stand alone Zelda title and a must play.    … Expand

    The absolute ridiculous ambition from Nintendo to surpass their previous iteration of The Legend of Zelda and to smash it out of the park like they did is a testament to the hard-work and dedication of each and every member of the team that worked on this masterpiece.

    One of, if not the greatest games I have ever played!

    I am constantly thinking about different methods to use, and have a level of excitement and enthusiasm for a game that I've only ever had a few times. I've been gaming since Pac-Man in the arcades and Donkey Kong on the Colecovision, and this game is already one of my favorite ways to spend time in front of the TV I've ever found.

    The best game of all time! I thought zelda breath of the wild was perfect but they were able to improve that perfection with zelda tears of the kingdom.

    A great game! Although many people say it’s the same as botw, I would disagree on that one. Sure it’s the same for the “normal world” but you get way more than that in this game, although I’m not a really big fan of the underworld. But the potential in this game through the new mechanics are great and a perfect way to give the game a new twist. Graphics of course are a point of conflict,A great game! All the new mechanics, the open world that invites you to explore it, with the crafting… it’s just insane. I thought it would be “like a dlc” but couldn’t be more wrong. 10/10 for me.     Botw was this game where you were on an adventure by yourself, discovering and conquering the world. In Totk, it feels so much different. The world is filled with characters and quests and interactions, it's amazing. The feel is completely different from Botw.

    Buy this immediately this is a 10/10 without hesitation. If you want a game that has amazing graphics and terrible gameplay and story go play horizon forbidden west. The gameplay mechanics are on another level in this new zelda. Its a fun experience best game i have played since elden ring.

    This game is huge and even better than BotW, I don't even see the point of playing BotW anymore when you have this vastly and improved game with 3 maps. It has story, and the gameplay is just great, not just exploring, but also the mechanics and the ability to create whatever comes to your mind using the resources that they give you. It's fun to see other people creations and using imagination

    One of the rare games today that isn't sold half finished, this game has the sense of discovery and wonder similar to playing BOTW for the fist time. It also contains a ton of content and locations to explore. The graphics are outstanding and it looks fantastic at 30 frames per second, making it clear why this game is such a gem.

    I will admit I was unsure about this game for quite awhile. However, after some of the more recent trailers and getting hands on with the game, all my doubts have need eliminated. They took an already fantastic game and managed to make it better and bigger in almost every way. This game is absolutely phenomenal! A must play if you have a Switch in my opinion.

    It is good. I mean there is really no arguing with it. If Breath of the Wild is a 10 out of 10 then this must be like a 15 out of 10. That is just how good this is.

    This game builds so much from the previous game! Such a fun game and getting creative. This game is so huge I constantly feel I’m scratching the surface of an iceberg.

    Game mechanics does need time to get used to, but my kids get it, and so will you. Wish the performance stutters improve, but that’s expected to be fixed with future patches.     So far my favorite Zelda. It has everything from BotW and even more!
    Bigger map, good quality of life updates, cool lore, amazing boss fights, fun dungeons (the way to them make those dungeons HUGE). The sky exploration, the Depts (My favorite part), the new companion system. Everything its so cool. I'm in love with this game ♥

    The good thing is that, thanks to the limited possibilities, the creators couldn't go crazy and swing for hundreds of game miles. Instead, they created what could be called Elden Ring in a travel pack. [Issue#328]

    The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
