The story of this game changes the Zelda timeline in it's way it is very well written and has some amazing plot twists. The legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is by far one the best games i have ever played in my life and that is why I think i deserves the solid 10/10 i gave it. Expand

"The Legend of Zalda: Tears of the Kingdom" is an enthralling game that takes players on an epic journey filled with adventure, mystery, and heartfelt emotions. As a fan of the franchise, I was eagerly anticipating this latest installment, and it certainly did not disappoint.

First and foremost, the game's graphics are absolutely stunning. The attention to detail in the sprawling landscapes, intricate character designs, and vibrant colors brings the world of Zalda to life in a breathtaking manner. Each location is beautifully crafted, inviting players to explore and uncover its secrets. The seamless transitions between different areas further enhance the immersive experience.

The gameplay mechanics in "Tears of the Kingdom" are both familiar and innovative. The controls are responsive, making combat and exploration fluid and enjoyable. The game introduces new abilities and puzzles that challenge players to think creatively and strategically. The variety of quests and side missions keeps the gameplay engaging, offering a sense of progression and discovery.

One aspect that truly stands out is the captivating storyline. "Tears of the Kingdom" weaves a tale of heroism, sacrifice, and redemption. The characters are well-developed, each with their own motivations and backstories, which adds depth and emotional investment to the narrative. The game successfully elicits a range of emotions, from moments of triumph and joy to instances of heart-wrenching sadness.

However, despite its many strengths, "Tears of the Kingdom" does have a few minor shortcomings. Occasionally, the pacing feels uneven, with certain sections dragging on or lacking in substantial content. Additionally, while the game's world is vast and filled with wonders, some players might find it overwhelming or daunting to navigate without sufficient guidance.

Nevertheless, "The Legend of Zalda: Tears of the Kingdom" is an outstanding addition to the franchise. Its stunning visuals, engaging gameplay, and captivating storyline make it a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike. The game's few shortcomings do little to diminish the overall experience, as its strengths overshadow any minor flaws.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend "The Legend of Zalda: Tears of the Kingdom" to anyone seeking an unforgettable gaming adventure. Embark on this epic journey, wield your sword, and prepare to be immersed in a world that will leave you captivated from beginning to end.

1.This game put to shame almost every other AA title. The game is not buggy it has been release when it was polish and done (yeah i know it shouldnt be a point but most AA game are released unfinished or they are rushed)

    2. Amazing soundttacj

3.The only open world i think off that have all climate on earth (hand crafted map fudge your ai whit no talent) 4.Ambiance sound are spot on ( it is dynamic whit the weather / time of the day)

5.The side quest dosent feel repetitive unlike all the other open world I have played

6.Every corner of the map are worth to see

7.The art style of the game is awsome yes i played game whit better graphics(my pc > next gen console) but they were less breathtaking.

8.The physics of the game are well made and intuitive

-->Conclusion This game is near perfect ( perfection dosent exist) there is some minor flaws to me the worst point is the combat, but it is clearly in my top 10 games ever played probably in my top 3. Dont listen to the haters who never played the game: they are just jealous that a outdated system like the switch has a game that anihilate everything their powerfull machine can legaly run.

A slight improvement on BOTW simply due to the unique and individual bosses. The return of seeing the word ‘Temple’ on my screen made me quite happy too. But the dungeons were divine beast rip-offs.

I just want a good old fashioned traditional linear Zelda game again.

With about 350 hours and have completed everything but the Koroks (screw trying to get 1,000 of those pieces of crap) I can say that Tears of the Kingdom is at a 7/10 for me. Lower than you thought huh?

With about 350 hours and have completed everything but the Koroks (screw trying to get 1,000 of those pieces of crap) I can say that Tears of the Kingdom is at a 7/10 for me. Lower than you thought huh?

Unfortunately the game follows the same beats that BotW did by starting you off on losing all your hearts, having to grind you way back up, have a dead king help you on the tutorial island, have to get 4 orbs to get another heart, then you finally get the paraglider after a few hours.

The story is a bit too similar to Ocarina of Time where Rauru allows Ganondorf to get too close and in the end it backfires on him as Ganondorf becomes powerful and nearly wipes out the kingdom.
The ancient past wasn't fully explored since Link is stuck in the present while Zelda got sent to the past.

The gameplay feels too similar to BotW (other than the new Zonai devices and Fuse) you still swing the weapons all the same. Some armors have the same item set bonuses which makes them feel redundant.
Maybe if they brought back the fighting techniques like in Twilight Princess, as well as they could've let Rauru's spirit stay with Link so we could have a companion this time around so it wasn't so lonely. Considering Link's new arm belonged to Rauru so why not?

The side quests can have some disappointing rewards, like all you get is medals for finding all the lightroots which do nothing or the Wells in which you get a snow globe which you can't even place in your house.

While the Depths was a new interesting area, the Sky Islands weren't as great since most of them had the same layout and there wasn't enough of them to make it worthwhile considering how much they were showed off in the trailers. Nintendo could've made the sky islands into a way to tell us more about how the Zonai used to live and what not.
The Surface of Hyrule feels too similar, not enough felt changed enough to consider the game improved, the only areas that felt changed are Karkariko villages with the Ring ruins, Hateno just got hit with a dumb mushroom fashion craze, Lurelin was destroyed by pirates but you can rebuild that back up, at least Tarry Town looks like their expanding their living area down below. There wasn't any new towns/villages added to the game. If it is believed to be at least 5 years since the previous games I feel like there should've been more stuff rebuilt before the Upheaval began.

There are many good differences as well, the new temples feel great (except for the Water temple, that felt to simple and boring) though their puzzles could've been better. The new bosses are all different from one another unlike the boring as hell Blight ganons, the new weapon system of giving certain types of weapons their own little perks like how the Gerudo weapons give more power but little in durability and the Royal Guard weapon improve Flurry Rush makes them more appealing for dodge combos. That should become a main feature. Some of the new armors are great such as the Glide armor that provides the ability to prevent fall damage or the Depths set which just looks cool, but that's about it for the good things I have to say.

In any case the game doesn't feel like it's worth the $70 dollars I paid for, I hope the next game will have a more compelling story and maybe allow Zelda to stay with us this time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game and certainly got my money's worth. A little disappointed that after all the BOTW experience and feedback, they didn't exclusively make positive design decisions. Relic abilities (Ascend/Fuse/Ultrahand/etc) were all appropriate and made for some rather excellent gameplay. The freedom to create led to many great scenarios. Base combat was on par with BOTW, and it was nice having both Depths and Sky to explore as well. The unnecessarily compartmented in darkness Depths led to some frustrating banging around in the dark. There's only so many dead ends you want to find before it stops being fun.

Proving Grounds shrines might've been the highlight of the game for me. The base mechanics are brilliant, and you have to revisit them with your wits rather than your inventory. While I didn't complete all the Master Sword challenges in BOTW, I was looking forward to a similar set of challenges with all the new practice here. Sadly didn't find it, nor a set of island objectives on wits alone. While it's probably the same size, Hyrule Castle felt incredibly small compared to BOTW, probably because the castle is no longer this ominous near-impenetrable thing.

Final dungeon, final fight, and grand reveal felt very rushed. All those princess sightings were Ganon leading us on...to make us stronger? And the Demon King was Ganon the whole time...the same Ganon Zelda should've recognized from BOTW? Is BOTW retconned for this? I'm sure I'll find strategy guides that show how brilliance could solve the final dungeon, but I wound up just tanking it. Seems the speedrunners found it quite skippable as well.

Sages were a nice concept that needed more refinement. Gaining a power per temple is great. Having them help in random encounters is great. Spontaneously triggering Goro or Tulin when I'm trying to pick up loot then either blowing up the barrel next to me or blowing my loot off the cliff? Not cool. If I could auto-dismiss Goro unless battle music is playing, that would be great. If I could auto-dismiss Tulin unless battle music isn't playing and I'm at least 10m above ground, that would be great. If Riju could stick close so I could keep the lightning arrows coming, rather than charging as far away from me as possible, that would be great. If we could give Mineru the same attack ethic as even the weaker enemies like moblins or whatever, that would be great. I didn't give her two cannons to have a wide open flank. Also, the cutscenes were terrible. Once Link knows about the Imprisoning War, why doesn't he just fill in the remaining sage candidates? What purpose does maintaining that secret serve, save for making us watch another cutscene explaining it?

The game is really carried by core mechanics. It will always be fun to find a group of enemies before they find me, and decide an angle of attack, maybe bow first? Zonai device? Sword and shield? Spear? MuddleBud was quite fun as well. Sneakstrike was obtainable, but not excessively so, which gave it value when achieved.

I'm glad I played this, but have full faith and confidence we'll see a better one sometime in the next three to ten years.

In Zora's domain boss fight it drops really hard. Other necessary improvement is that you need to READ basically everything all the time like we always did in all Zelda's games, there is no considerable evolution in that sense, there is no voices at all, also the English dub during cutscenes is something that could be better. So I would never give maximum score to the game. BUT these are the only improvement points in the game and it is still considered a masterpiece. 8/10.

There were many improvements made to the open world formula introduced in the previous game, overall I had a lot of fun playing through it. There are far more quests and free-form content in this game which feels much less of a chore to play through than BotW as there are often many different solutions to a single puzzle or means to completing quests. Most of the Shrines are more interesting than in BotW and I wanted to complete each one I found rather than ignoring half of them in the previous game, since they felt more like a speedbump rather than worthwhile content.

I will say that some of the new mechanics introduced such as ultra-hand and fusing do get a bit tedious after about 30 hours of play. If you go into this game expecting a traditional Zelda type experience, you may feel the same. However, if you’re going into knowing what to expect such as spending a lot of time exploring and going at your own pace, you’ll find it much more rewarding.

I also found that the story was very lacklustre and far too predictable. Obtaining each stone felt like striking off a checklist each time, especially since the cutscenes and video sequences played out in almost the exact same way every time. I found this by far to be the laziest part of the game given how diverse the exploration was, only to be met with cookie cutter story sequences on what should have been the main parts of the experience.

Leading on from that, the main dungeons for each of the sages were great and spiced things up quite bit since they were all very different to each-other and added a diverse set of challenges (often including the new abilities present in TotK). It was also satisfying seeing the calamity reverse itself after defeating the bosses which were the cause of the gloom. The boss fights were also versatile and interesting with a decent amount of challenge.

Overall I’d say TotK is worth playing over BotW, although it takes a certain type of player to want to do most or all of the side content since there is so much of it and it’s often very free-form and samey. I still think Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game ever created and whilst TotK is decent, it has not displaced the conciseness of a linear and much darker Zelda game with a more abstract story. I think Nintendo should continue to make games as dark as OOT and even Majora’s Mask as the atmosphere I find far more enticing.

I would give TotK 9/10 if the story was at least in the same ballpark as OOT, but it’s simply a disappointment. Don’t let this put you off though as it’s still very much worth playing as it does so many things very well.

Even the stuff that DOES feel very similar to BOTW is boosted in fun by a lot of new and creative ways of finding your way.

If I had to pinpoint the things I didn't like or that you could name as a negative it would be the performance, which is lacking sometimes. You can tell this game takes the Switch tho its limit. Most of the time the game runs smooth and the cutscenes are insanely beautiful. I took way too many screenshots of this game with no regrets. One new, very big part of the map, that was not in BOTW is a little bit of chore, at leats it feels like it for ME. I am sure the challenge is a big plus for a lot of other players, I personally just did not care for it and didn't even bother exploring more of it than I needed to. Since I had the choice to that, it didn't take away any of my enjoyment of this title and I can not wait to see other people react to the best moments of this story.

A lot of us probably thought they can't possibly make a game better than BOTW but hey, they frickin' did it. A masterpiece.

This is a 10/10 game and the story is a major improvement over BotW. I plan to play and beat this again once the master mode is released, and I do plan to complete some of the things that are available in this game (not the korok seeds tho. Lol). Yes, koroks are back but again, you do not have to collect all of them and you can even torture them, which some see it as a plus. In conclusion, game of the year for 2023!!!!! Expand

An absolute essential. This game, for lack of a better term, is a game changer. I have already doubled the amount of hours played compared to BotW. I was concerned about how well it would run on a basically 10 year old system, but Holy cow, this blew my expectations out of the water.

It's amazing that they broaden the map, and add up new zonai sys. At the very beginning I thought it's quite similar to breath of the wild but later I found that I was completely wrong. BUT one thing I had to point out is that hiding the shrines in caves or underground is just so frustrating, it took forever to find the entrance without the help of sakura tree.

Boss fights range from a fun puzzle to a horrendous showcase of the abysmal combat - the final boss is an especially poor showing of this.

I found the shrines by far the most enjoyable part of the game finding them to be enjoyable physics puzzles. The building system is also ok, feels very much like Gmod.

Over all it's a fun puzzle game with a terrible open world and poor combat system bolted on.

Just the fact that you get put into gameplay at the start of the game so you can adapt to the controls is Awsome, and the discovery of the dried up Ganondorf (I’ll say Ganon for short but I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE) which then wakes up and somehow knows the name of Zelda and Link is so cryptic the first time you get to it, but becomes clear when the game ends. Also Zelda becoming a Dragon and staying one for 1000+ years just to heal up the Master Sword for Link to defeat the Demon King is totally unexpected. The 4 new powers are all useful and almost never situational (I like Recall and Ascend the most) and they let you do all sorts of stuff like having infinite battery on cars [I won’t say how >:)], or visit places you never even dreamed of in BOTW. The sky islands are great to explore, and the depths, while being really dark and scary when you first enter them are somewhat easy to explore since the lightroots are very visible so you have an objective every time you visit it.
10/10 game, would never say anything bad about it.

The new powers are NOT gimmicks ( people who say so are clearly just trolling or don't really understand much about gaming, or likely both) in fact the mechanics introduced by this game have received praise from the dev community at large. This game was truly a labor of love, there are so many changes and improvements that listing them all would be impossible.

Is it the prettiest game you'll ever see? No, but it's very pretty in its own right and definitely a sensational achievement for a console like the switch.

If you are the special kind of player who "cannot play anything below 60 fps" then move along,
if you still like to PLAY videogames (like when you were a kid) and haven't lost your childlike wonder and sense of amazement you will love this game. Imagine seamlessly dive from a sky island all the way to the underground, exploring caves (and caves within caves), saving villages, finding hidden treasure etc and the best thing is that you can do all of this and so much more at your own pace, guided by your own creativity, interests and sense of exploration.

I must admit that initially, I wasn’t a big fan of BOTW when it was released. I felt that it lacked variety and found the shrines to be rather dull. However, with Tears of the Kingdom (TOTK), those concerns are no longer applicable. TOTK addresses the issues I had with its predecessor and offers a wide array of diverse environments to explore. It has truly exceeded my expectations in many ways. The game essentially serves as a massive physics-based puzzle, which never fails to amaze me.

The storyline is captivating, and the fusion system for weapons introduces a fascinating new twist that allows for fresh strategies. While the durability of the gear remains a minor drawback, the ability to forge your own weapons encourages continuous experimentation to optimize their effectiveness. Initially, I was hesitant about the construction and building elements, but Nintendo executed it exceptionally well, making it feel organic and inspiring. This unique aspect of the game adds to its overall appeal.

Furthermore, TOTK pushes the boundaries of the Nintendo Switch’s capabilities, showcasing what can be achieved on what could be considered an outdated device. Sure, some frame-rate issues exist, but considering how amazing the game actually is, one can easily overlook them. I genuinely don’t understand the substantial amount of criticism this game receives. Although the world may seem partly familiar, everything feels refreshingly new and different. For me, TOTK is nothing short of a perfect 10. It not only stands as the pinnacle of the Zelda series but also has the potential to claim the top spot in my personal list of the greatest games of all time—although Elden Ring poses a formidable challenge. Nevertheless, in terms of originality, TOTK undoubtedly emerges as the victor.

While the standards set by previous Zelda games, such as the iconic Ocarina of Time, are undoubtedly remarkable, this game goes above and beyond, completely revolutionizing the traditional Zelda formula. Once again, Nintendo showcases their unparalleled ability to deliver gaming experiences that are truly unique and exceptional.

Side quests are absolutely everywhere, and all are interesting and unique. The story is much more compelling than before. Even the soundtrack is better and more varied than botw. Overall, there’s vastly more content and more to do in this sequel. It makes botw look like a tech demo.

While this is the most fun I’ve had with a game in years, it’s not without its flaws. The UI is a bit clunky, especially when cycling through weapons mid-combat. Many of the shrines feel too short, too obvious, are empty “Raru’s Blessing” rewards, or are tutorials for mechanics that I learned 30 hours ago. I do miss the traditional Zelda dungeons of TP, WW, and SS, but I somewhat understand the need for more open dungeons in this game given the wealth of freedom granted by its mechanics. They could have taken away all of Link’s runes for a dungeon, but what fun is that? My last, and most forgivable, complaint is the game’s performance. The Switch is an outdated piece of hardware, and the way it struggles to run totk shows. But personally, the hiccups in fps didn’t bother me all that much. For others it certainly will: I’d recommend emulating the game at 60 fps.

Tears of The Kingdom is not a perfect game, but it reaches closer to perfection than any other game that I’ve played to date. I’m currently 90 hours into the game, but I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what this game has to offer.

My particular disappointments were a lack of change from BotW, despite lots of open critique about a lot of aspects that still managed to carry over.

My biggest disappointment is that they still decided to make the entire story optional and non-linear. Having some non-linearity is fine, but I think they could have gone in a direction that allowed you to do a certain set of dungeons in any order first, another after, for example. This would have allowed for additional abilities that gate parts of the story, and allow a linear story to be EXPERIENCED rather than seeing flashbacks in no particular order. The most interesting "story" is the end, which isn't much. It was still more interesting than BotW, but it wasn't a high bar to reach to be frank.

Something I think was done really well is that when I am doing content I am not necessarily chasing a reward, I am just having fun doing it, whether it's a puzzle or a fight or exploration. It's nice to get something rewarding, but it is not the goal, unlike many other open world RPGs I've played, where the gameplay itself is boring and mindless but the reward is why you do it.

After completing the final boss, I think I am confortable giving it a 9/10. There are plenty of valid criticisms to be made about the game which also applied to Breath of the Wild as well. The main criticism I have is for the writing. I think the overall story is fine, zelda games have never had complex stories or characters, but the writing for the dialogue was sometimes jarring for me.

I am very interested to see the speedrun for this game, because I have no idea what sort of travel method is the most efficient for a speedrun of this game, as far as I know they patched a lot of the bugs that were used in speedruns, and there is no stasis launching. i also felt the bosses were a lot harder in this game and they fixed a lot of the balancing issues that were in Breath of the Wild. Even getting to the final boss is difficult due to how they place enemies, and the heart stealing mechanic makes the final fight incredibly hard without food, armour and lots of hearts.

Traversing the map is way more fun now with the building aspect. You can build Hoverboards, cars, boats etc. The new abilities are also more fun than the ones in BoTW. They add new ways to play the game. This affects weapons, fights and traversing in the game.

There is also more depth in the story this time, and its more interesting in my opinion. Nintendo went for the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. Instead they improved on what they built.

The music is absolutely pathetic and uninspired for a series with such a rich history of good music. The story is god-awful. The characters are largely uninteresting. At many times, the world feels too large for its own good, in that there is a lot of landspace that is just dull and uninteresting and you have to spend a lot of time traversing it to get to where you need to be. Nintendo is a garbage, despicable company.

Still though, TotK is fun. And it is innovative.

If I don't give this game a perfect score, I think the good games I've been playing so far should be a good 7 point game.

And I thought Breath of the wild was good... This game is probably the best I've played. This game would probably not appeal to a normal gamer, but to a Zelda fan this is amazing. The way the game rewards with creativity without needing it. The amount of content this game has is a bit overwhelming in a good, I have about 50 hours as of this review, and I still have too much to do, The story on this game is a big upgrade, but that is not true for the music, Zelda music is usually a relaxing and amazing time to listen to, but TOTK and BOTW have not delivered. The dungeons are still not back to their full form, but are still better then BOTW. Even though this doesn't feel like a Zelda game, It is still a masterpiece Nonetheless. Expand

Fãs e entusiastas falam do "crafting universal". Zelda tears of the kingdom se resume à: MEDÍOCRE.

Remember the way you felt by watching the lord of the rings the return of the king for the first time after waiting for one whole year for it to launch? This game gives you that kind of excitement, except for more time. Zelda TOTK feels old but new at the same time, it will give you hours and hours of exploration and happiness, is not this what games are all about? . This game is a 20/10. Expand

it is fun to play but the feeling of discovery that was present in botw isn't there as it's the same map. it works to replace it's prequel instead of being its own thing (like majora's mask being different but good).

Exploration is at an all-time high with a more meaningful story this time around. Each mechanic has been fully fleshed out and can be used in a variety of clever puzzles with a large degree of freedom. The sheer size of Hyrule with the sky islands as well as the depths makes for enough content to last well over 100 hours for any completionists out there. The polish added to every aspect of this game, especially the insane physics and building mechanics, is satisfying to see in an era where game developers seem to either rush their titles out for release or focus on what will generate immediate profits such as microtransactions. Nintendo once again delivers a title of sheer gaming brilliance. Expand

Anybody rating this game poorly is a sad, unfortunate soul and keeps an entire box of maxi pads with them at all times to clean up their tears whenever something doesn't go their way. Similarly, if you complain that this game is too expensive with a $10 increase to the price tag, I would highly recommend stopping the usage of your parent's credit cards, and then go back to playing fartnite :)

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom attempts to fix some of the flaws of its predecessor by adding mechanical depth, but in doing so loses some of the simplicity and freedom that gave it a sense of wonder.

This episode goes even further than BOTW in terms of storytelling, map sizing, building experiences, etc. It is only a shortcoming that this game is being released on an aging gaming platform...

I wasn't sure how Nintendo would find a way to top their work in Breath of the Wild back when it came out, but I feel they have here – with years of more polish applied and refined exploration. [Issue #66 – July/August 2023, p. 71]

The good thing is that, thanks to the limited possibilities, the creators couldn't go crazy and swing for hundreds of game miles. Instead, they created what could be called Elden Ring in a travel pack. [Issue#328]

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has lived up to the high expectations created by the success of Breath of the Wild with its exquisitely intertwined gameplay systems, outstanding music, and a legendary story culminating in a magnificent denouement. It's not every day that such a special video game like this comes around. Truly the stuff of legend.
