    I don't give out perfect scores really that often because I feel so few... anything can live up to that hype that's created in your head. With that said though, Super Mario Odyssey is such a fun, imaginative and just downright good time. Every time I think Nintendo's out of ideas for this character, they shock me with a title like this.     Masterpiece gameplay 10/10. It has an insane amount of puzzles, powers up and a variety of worlds, all are unique and interesting. There is no way someone will play this game and won't like at least one puzzle or one part of it.

    The bad part about this game is the same as pretty much all other Mario's games, the story is lackluster, it is like a story on a porn movie it is just there    Masterpiece gameplay 10/10. It has an insane amount of puzzles, powers up and a variety of worlds, all are unique and interesting. There is no way someone will play this game and won't like at least one puzzle or one part of it.

    The bad part about this game is the same as pretty much all other Mario's games, the story is lackluster, it is like a story on a porn movie it is just there because it needs to be. C'mon, the game was released in 2017, I think it is time for a more depth story.

    At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how good are the puzzles and the challenges, if the story isn't good the game is forgettable and just a pastime and for that, Mario Odyssey works perfectly    … Expand

    My favourite game. I just love it and I don't see myself getting sick of it. 100%'d it twice and you know what? I'd do it again! Love everything about Mario Odyssey and I cannot see anything I don't like with this game

    Tudo para ser perfeito, só que ele não entrega expansão de jogo e atualizações e o Multiplayer é ruim, por exemplo: O P2 é o Cappy, poderia ser um segundo personagem, como o Luigi.

    The first ever Nintendo Switch game I ever played and man, what a game it was. Amazing graphics, great story, great open world setting and overall, a true masterpiece for not only Mario, but also for the Nintendo Switch.

Sadly, there are some problems like how there is no hub world, the story, and the fact that most kingdoms have an island problem and that really takes away my immersion from this otherwise perfect game.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Super Mario Odyssey is an amazing game. There is so much to do, and if you feel like 100% the game, there are 1000 moons to collect. The ending is phenomenal and this game will always have a place in my heart. It has great replay value and it follows everything a good game needs to be while still being expansive. The only downfall is that it can be very tiring this game, but I think that’s just my perspective.
    This game greatly deserves a 10, but in personal opinion, it falls just short of a 9

    Great fun. Definitely one of the best games and probably my favourite mario platformer. Music's great. Bosses are a bit easy sometimes but it's hard to not love everything about this game. The new donk city level could be expanded into a whole game with the amount of ideas it introduces. Just go play it.

    There is no crazy story or characters its all about Mario and jump and run. All really ALL Kingdoms are so good designed (Only critic is that there are to much Moons and to easy to collect but in a normal play through it doesn't destroy the game play) I Really Enjoyed Super Mario Odyssey and i would recommend this game to    This game is just amazing!!

After Bowser sends Mario to Cap Kingdom he meets what will soon be his best friend, Cappy! This little fella let's him cap throw, cap jump, cap bounce, down throw, spin throw, up throw and more! This makes the movement very smooth. Specially with Mario's classic wall jumps, dives, etc. After this, Mario will adventure th ru many kingdoms to try and stop Bowser's and Peach's Wedding. After this Mario for the third time goes to space, where he would fight Bowser for the third time. And for the final plot twist, Peach just leaves him! But after this you have WAYYYYYYYYY MORE moons to collect! (880 to be exact) While some peopole might think that this game is worse than 3D World + Bowser's Fury, i personally disagree. And that's why i give Mario Odyssey a 10.… Expand

Ich finde die verschiedenen Länder Gameplay technisch sehr gut designed und finde es spaßig die einzigen Challenges du bezwingen und das Spiel 100% durchzuspielen. Ein Kritikpunkt jedoch ist, dass manche Monde einem einfach geschenkt werden und es dadurch leichter wird.     I thought I wasnt a nintendo type of dude, but goddamn I thought games cant make me smile anymore, but this thing right here was quite the turning point for me. This probably even changed my view of gaming as a whole. I grew up playing quake/wolfenstein/cs/gta so I never tried any "softer" games, but oh man I started wishing I had after playing this masterpiece of a game.

Great, excellent, I don't have much to say, do I, the haters be haters, but if you aint, its impossible not to love this thing made of pure fun, also ballon world gives the game like an extra 200 hours of optional playtime. even after playing for like 400 hours, I still hop on and play every once in a while, after I tire of grinding absolute radiance ascended in hollow knight.     the level design is also excellent, every world feels unique and fleshed out, and the moons are fun to collect (i've seen many people criticize the fact there are so many moons compared to other games, saying that it devalues them, but i think Nintendo made the right call here considering how much bigger each world/kingdom is)

    overall, this game is fun all the way through and only became frustrating at the very end, when playing through the "Dark Side" (of the Moon) (but don't worry, this world is completely optional, as it's unlocked by beating the main story.

    honestly, outside of the fairly easy boss fights (at least they added new foes instead of the Koopalings and/or Bowser Jr. again) and the fairly linear progression (not in the worlds themselves, but going from one to the other; you'll visit them in a predetermined order and will only get a split path twice in the game.

    in conclusion, i can't recommend Super Mario Odyssey enough to... pretty much anyone who has any interest in platformers or Mario. this game has surpassed its predecessors, including Super Mario 64, in so many ways, and those who think Mario 64 is better are just blinded by nostalgia (heck, you can even unlock Peach's Castle and a Mario 64 disguise in Odyssey if you really miss this game).    … Expand

Mario never feels slow or clunky in the slightest, and the game gives just enough leeway to make reaching areas a fun challenge without ever feeling like you're breaking the game.     This game is so joyous. The music, setting, and ambiance make me so giddy. Honestly an incredible game. Once I beat it, I've spent about one hundred hours just doing trickjumps. It's also very replayable. 9/10, great game.

    I recently went back and replayed this game, and let me tell you, this is the best 3D Mario in my opinion apart from Galaxy.

    The movement is flawless, the gameplay is amazing and this deserves a sequel.

    So much hype for this game but it doesn’t deserve it. Sure there is a lot of content but the quality is poor. Same old problems with camera controls that have always been an issue with 3D Mario games.

    No imagination displayed in the level design, recycling world themes as always.

The way they incorporate the 8 bit Mario is also done very well. Cappy is a good addition but in two player (though he's not as fun as you think he might be). So why only a 7? Nintendo have done brilliantly well to keep Mario as high profile as he is, but at the end of the day jumping on top of things is really quite boring.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I must preface this review by stating that I played Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 to 100% completion, and enjoyed every moment... now onto Super Mario Odyssey...

    I have finished this game up to approx. 650 moons (about 50 purchased) and have completed Dark Side and Darker Side levels... If you were thinking the challenge just wasn't there, wait until you hit these two levels - haha!

    The graphics are a joy to behold, and I have played this almost exclusively at 1080p with headphones. The audio is as good as the visuals, music is great, the two songs are catchy, and there is enough fan-service for any nostalgia nerd.

    I finished the game originally (first moon rush) in only two play sessions, which was kind of disappointing... I was hoping the original play-through would be longer... but this was only an appetiser. The levels then became harder, the moons more difficult to find (up to a point of being completely obscure towards the end), but you will love every minute you play.

    There are some truly joyous moments, like the first extra level you unlock after first completing the game, which gives me hope for a Switch remake of SM64...

    The camera is 99.9% co-operative, but that 0.1% will infuriate you when it happens.

    SM Galaxy 1 & 2 were lesser games than this... and much easier. This is a game for new players and returning players from older consoles. There are joyous surprises around every corner, and when the dragon boss appeared I almost peed myself with excitement.

    I think the online leaderboards are only for serious speedrunners, and not the average Joe.

    The wit and humour is a little more "adult" this time, but a watered-down "Nintendo-Adult" style. Some of the double-entendre is super-subtle, but still made me smile while playing.

    Once you have the movement mechanics mastered, you can pull-off some truly amazing tricks, including mega-jumps that defy logic. People can already finish this game in about 1 hour, but with new super-mega-jump-tricks, it is truly a game to behold when played by an experienced player.

    I doubt that I will ever feel the child-like joy which I experienced while completing this game again (I am 50yo, and have played all the Mario games since original NES). The amount of gasps, giggles, laughs and shouts as I played this game prove that Nintendo are back with their A-game. Like Galaxy, you can expect a sequel (or DLC) that will make this game way more challenging for the hardcore gamer.

    If the game has any negatives, it would be the "arbitrary" placement of Moons... and the camera can be a bit uncooperative at rare times. The final moon artwork stars are simply mind-numbingly difficult, and were really unnecessary. This should also have been a release title.

    If you take Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 as a benchmark, Odyssey raises the bar even further, and I think deserves a higher metacritic score than where it stands. I would give this game 99/100, but since I can only pick out of 10, I would give this a solid 10.

    It is the only truly "must have" game for the system at this time. Zelda is great and all, but only if you like that type of game. Odyssey is truly playable and enjoyable from 5yo to 95yo. TEN BABY!!!    … Expand

    The best 3D Mario game since 64. The levels offer so many different ways of attempting missions that just like Mario 64 there’s always a different way to approach things, making the game infinitely replayable.

    While it was difficult to imagine how Nintendo could top previous 3D Mario adventures, Super Mario Odyssey is nigh-on perfect in almost every way. With the help of Cappy, Mario has never been as fun to control, reaching new heights and, in the hands of a skilled player, accomplishing impossible skips. You need only pick up a controller to see why this is the best modern Mario game ever.

    The best entry to the best platforming series is so ridiculously huge it’s like a theme park made of theme parks. It’s a wonderful tribute to Super Mario 64, but it’s not a lazy homage.
