Paid full price. Now a "single player" game does not start up due to server repairs. And this is not a maintenance but a full outage. And the main campaign (the cafe) is a joke.

so disappointed with the devs decision to cut the payouts for the races. they clearly want us to pay for the cars with real money or play 10 hours to buy a single car. Moreover it is impossible to sell the cars that you have twice…

Repulsively greedy micro-transactions and a senseless “Always-On” internet requirement ruin a near flawless simulator with gorgeous graphics and a pretty engaging single-player environment.

I spent 110CAD as I wanted the PS4 and PS5 versions and now I’ll be lucky to get that money back. With that amount spent I expect to own the game but I don’t. I’m at the mercy of a server that needs to be up and a internet connection that needs to constantly run. Why? Not to make sure I’m enjoying the product. You don’t need a constant internet connection to drive a car around a track. Not for dynamic weather changes. You don’t need a constant internet connection to see what the weather is at the Nürburgring. No the only reason you’d need to constantly be connected is if Sony wants to know if there are more ways to frustrate you into paying real money for in-game credits. Latest update reduces rewards so it will take you longer to get the cars/upgrades you want. I’m sure they’ve also nerfed “Roulettes” further. At last count out of about 20 Roulettes I’ve “Won” the lowest level prize 17 times. Random? No, Shenanigans.

The game itself? So good! Exactly what I hoped for in terms of graphics and gameplay. Good license tests, fun missions for a different change of pace, seriously improved upgrade system for cars and really enjoyable races and championships. Read the 10/10 reviews. No need to rehash all that. Somehow, though, not enough emphasis has been put on the negatives.

Historically I’ve invested a lot into this franchise. Bought every version of the game since the first. Always bought the Special-editions if they were available. I’ve had a Gran Turismo keychain on my keys for over a decade. Gran Turismo steering wheel on the shelf in my office. Never thought of returning a Polyphony Digital product until now. Of course, I CAN’T return it because they say it’s not faulty so the joke’s on me I guess.

60 bucks used to be enough for a developer to invest time and effort into creating a masterpiece. Now not even $100 of our hard-earned money is worth it to them. We’re lucky to get a game that’s launched with 50% of its promised features. No gamer asked for a title to be released with bare minimum features followed by piecemeal content to be lazily tossed at the masses once a quarter for 3 years. I don’t blame the people that are actually making the game. I don’t doubt they’re also frustrated. But be careful who’s publishing your game. Eventually you’ll make no money at all when the greed becomes intolerable.

Unless they release a version of the game that doesn’t require an online connection, and they cut the cost of micro transactions by 75%, then just avoid it. Beautiful racing isn’t worth this disgusting new approach to wringing every cent out of gamers.

In this game, your progress is no longer tied to your accomplishments, but rather, the size of your car collection. This in and of itself is not that big a deal, but there's a catch. Oh, you want to add a rare or legendary car to your collection? Be prepared to shell out millions of credits! And the average race payout is in the tens of thousands. This means you have to grind for countless hours just to get a car in each category, let alone complete the set. This actively punishes player creativity. And forces them to either stay bored grinding the same 5 races over and over or open their wallets and buy credit packs on the PS store.

It's obvious that they're preying on people who love this series and cars in general. 1 car can cost over $20 if you get tired of doing the same **** constantly.

But look over there - an invitation to buy a $2.5million car that expires in a week.. you won’t earn that, not now especially that they have reduced the pay outs for honest races. But you can spend $40 on top of the $80 you paid for the game for that one car. The game is just going to push the next on you anyways. It’s a shame, because the gameplay is enjoyable, but all the trappings around it are soul-sucking. The game was ok before they ruined it last night. They reduced the pay-outs for races which means it is now nearly impossible to make money. why did they do this? microtransactions. We now have to use our hard earned money to buy cars, unless you want to spend 50 hours doing the same race over and over again.

Following the predatory trend of forced micro transactions. Can’t sell cars for credits. Limited time “invitations” to buy cars that are overpriced forcing people to buy credits. they heavily rely on FOMO. Such a shame, this game could be so much more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had been counting down the days for this to come out. I was so excited for the enhanced graphics, great physics and tons of single player racing to be had - plus the nostalgia of loving gt1 and 2 as the first ever games I played on ps1. After the first weekend, I had almost completed the entire main story of gt7.

The graphics are great. There are many cool cars to be had and lots of tuning to do on each individual car. I loved the courses, they all look good and are fun to race around. I want to love it so badly. I wanted to be racing for hours and hours and enjoying getting deeper into the story and collecting.

But.. there is so much wrong with this game down to basic fundamental planning I’m not sure how they released it in this state. They promised unique engine noises for each car, which proved to not be true. Almost all of the races you do in the entire game are “catch up” races where you start at a rolling start and the AI in front of you is even spaced out. This results in the #1 AI car being turns in front of you even from the beginning. So usually your car has to be much more powerful than the cars your racing or you don’t have a chance. This is not racing.

There are no qualifying races for position? How is that even possible. The game is one of the shortest games I’ve ever played, some of it’s predecessors we’re over 20x longer to complete fully. Licenses on dirt roads or even dirt races in general have horrible physics. Plus plenty of missions/licenses they just forgot to put dirt tires on the cars so it’s impossible to win at this point. The campaign or “cafe menu” system is extremely flawed, mainly it’s designed with very few actual races or championships and the rewards are too easy to collect and telegraphed by making you collect 3 packs of cars in order. Why not make the car collection system random? And you can collect 3 pack sets over time which net you something greater? It’s setup so linear it’s infuriating. Not to mention, the entire campaign at this point is built around the B and A license. Making the license tests for international B, A and super licenses completely useless. You can very easily setup championships and races to do it seems like it was intentionally made to be short, perhaps to focus on microtransaction sales via collecting cars. They turned the game into a car collection game over a racing game. They have now put in tickets where you roll random loot. Totally fine to have loot boxes in the game. But when you make a pay to win option where you can buy coins to just straight buy whatever you want if you use your real money.. that is so incredibly disingenuous towards your loyal fans it’s insulting. At this point, shame on this company for releasing the game in this state - and for planning it out like this in the first place. I will forever remember being disappointed at gran turismo 7 and the last season of game of thrones as the most disappointing things in my life thus far.

So many passionate people CLEARLY made this game. And the people in charge of monetization destroyed its release and reputation. The reason it’s online only is so they can control the in game economy, the reason they do that is to control your credits and incentivize micro transactions. The reason you can’t sell cars is because they want to control your credits. The reason the game is down for over 24 hours is because corporate greed pushed for an update to LOWER credit payouts, and they messed it up. Amazing that they didn’t have any option to play your data while offline. It’s literally worse than a mobile app without all the amazing features I’m unnecessarily forced to be online to use. Disgusting.

They destroyed credit system making it more or less pay to unlock better vehicles for most gamers.
That issue doesn’t bother as much as the fact it can’t be played really at all offline, which can apparently be days when they do

You didn't even have to try for us to have loved GT7. We all wanted to love IT. You just had to do the absolute minimum. Instead you went out of your way to lure us in with trailers and hype and scooped us all up in your net of lies.

Nerfing the payout for races to kill the grind, LYING about being able to sell our cars, even doubles and triples of the same car, creating fake scarcity for car supply to induce fomo, the god awful gacha roulette which doesn't even pretend to be remotely randomized...all for what? That's right, to see how many people say "screw it, I really want this $20 mill credit Ferrari and don't want to complete 400 races to buy it, let me get my credit card." Because getting $70+ from each of us wasn't enough. And thanks to your forced always online game mechanic, which serves literally no purpose, I got to spend my one day off this week staring at a black screen informing me your servers are down. I'm assuming you're beefing them up for the influx of chash deposits your expecting after update 1.07.

I have no issue with microtransactions in general, but in this case it feels like I paid full price to access an expensive online GT7 car store (buying two high end cars is more expensive than the game itself!). The only way round it (I've noticed so far) is a looooot of grinding. Also you must be connected to the internet to play the single player, and the servers must be up or you only have access to a very limited part of the game.

I'll change my score if the developer listens to the fanbase and changes things, but this absolutely killed the nostalgic, otherwise high quality, gran turismo experience for me and leaves me feeling like I've been duped.

It’s just as scummy that they made the game have to connect online and then the servers are done for most of a day.
