The update on 17/03/22 has totally ruined what is a great game by reducing event rewards and further pushing micro transactions!
    Way to sell out, Polyphony!

Do not buy this. Should be a free to play game since they offer credits to buy with real money and you can't even play the single player game.

I buyed it, and the single player must be always playable, with or without an internet connection. the microtransaction are scandalous. As a 10+year huge fan of the Gran Turismo license I am absolutely disgusted by the stuff PD pushed in this new entry i.e:

    - 100% online requirement which means that a game I play mostly offline is not playable at all when they decide to do a maintenance or whenever their server have an issue.
    - The hard PUSH for microstransactions in this game is also absolutely infuriating. I payed 70 stupid euros for a game and they made it extremely hard to earn enough coins to buy some of the cars in the game if playing is not your full time occupation. And hear me well I'm a fan of the series and I used to love grinding in this game to earn cars, but this is now at a ridiculous level. They are also playing hard with FOMO by selling "rare" cars as "limited" to push the weakest people to use their real cash in their game. And WORST OF ALL, it was already bad enough but two weeks after the game released, they just pushed an update that divided by two almost all rewards for races, this is absolutely disgusting.
    - The campaign mode is the shortest (by far) and most linear of all games of the license. Where previous games used to feel like an RPG where you have to plan and make choices on your own, this game is so guided and you feel like everything is spoon fed to you chapter after chapter... Also there is not a single long race like Le Mans 24h or stuff like that

So now I just learned about this horrible update reinforcing the pay-to-win aspect of the game and I can't even play the OFFLINE aspects of the game because they have been maintaining their server for at least 10 hours apparently. And I paid 70€ for this piece of ****, this is insane, absolutely ridiculous.

I won't even comment of the few positive aspects of this game because they are largely outbalanced and I'm just very sad and disgusted.

Some customizations such as engine swaps, are locked behind an rng gift/reward system with very dismal odds. Overall, with the pacing of the initial release and the patches, I would recommend to buy this game when it is at least 30% off. The racing is fun, but the economy, rng issues, and the abnormally long campaign/license system that keeps some things locked from you for a pretty long time- makes this a “wait-worthy” purchase.

For me Gran Turismo has always been about collecting and racing different cars. In GT7 you will very soon run out of credits. Not only this but now online racing requires you to tune your cars, more credits needed. This would be fine if you could earn credits in game, but this is quite difficult especially if you are a very average player. To add further insult today they cut the amount of credits you could earn even more. So really to collect the expensive cars you have to pay more money in Micro Transactions and these are expensive.

Furthermore, it seems that you can play very little of the game offline.

Scoring this game as 2 and that's only because it looks pretty. Very sad to see the game go this way. Shame on the critics for not calling Sony/Polyphony out on this.

I used to love the series. It did some questionable choices for the sake of money as far back as GT5 (selling single use paints as DLC, for instance), but it was never egregious, certainly nothing like today's games can get. GT7, however, already started out as mean with its rewards (chiefly the roulette spins that just happen to give you the lowest reward 90% of the time), and with the latest patch, they turned the game into a total grindfest that also tries to tug on your FOMO strings (e.g. the system of invitations: brief windows to buy expensive cars you most likely can't afford)... unless you'd like to buy some in-game currency *nudge* *nudge*

I badly regret buying this game. I'd love a refund, but after two weeks of playing daily, I doubt I'd get it (PSN is notorious for being stingy with those at the best of times)

However the worst thing is that they want you to pay real money to get in-game credit, online race gives you about 15'000Cr, and every online race last at least 15 minutes. License tests and missions give a laughable amount of credit too. A Gr.3 car costs 450'000Cr, the last week meta car for a daily race was 1'000'000Cr. On the top of that witch 1.07 they removed the only way to grind credit (1,6 million Cr in an hour if you are good).

The bad: No endgame, no balanced online rule sets, no ability to save lobby settings, not being able to change the track when you're the host of a lobby, unbalanced rewards, unbalanced lottery ticket rewards, Microtransactions (or mega transactions?! )

It seems PD has learned nothing from previous quality of life improvements and we'll be waiting for patches once again.

On the topic of patches; in the latest patch they're trying to press players into microtransactions by making the ingame economy even worse than it already was before the patch. Now it's truely a premium price game with a Freemium economy + Megatransactions

    Huge disappointment.
Physics are identical to gt sport , so turning with a car in gt7 is unrealistic as it gets , the chase cam has no real speed feel , so you cant really understand how fast you go , its always online, so now the servers are in maintenance so you can only play the silly music stages because everything else is online locked. The graphics are the same as sport.

Short and clear. The game is phenomenal. The racing in this game is addictive and it's hard to tear yourself away from this game.
Yes, the game has a few flaws. For example, bad tires when doing licensing so you can't get the gold trophy. The microtransactions don't really suit this game either.

After many years, we have a new version of the Gran Turismo series. The title marked with the number 7 turns out to be a game with two faces.

The positive one is the driving model, changing weather conditions and the changing time of the day. You can feel the differences in driving between individual car models and the influence of the installed parts on the driving characteristics even more than in older GT games. This is the basis for making Gran Turismo 7 a very good game in the future.

Unfortunately, the rest of the game makes it mediocre. One can get the impression that Polyphony Digital designers stopped with knowledge about User and Customer Experience in the 90s.

Badly designed game screens. For example, after a race in the Cafe menu, you have to click OK more than 10 times to exit. If you also get a car and gain a level, the number of clicks reaches about 15. Who designs games like that?

Players cannot enjoy split-screen mode until the completion of specific single player challenges. It is no different with the online mode. What's more, when setting up a room in online mode, we can only choose the tracks that have been unlocked in single player. Do you seriously want to decide for the players how to have fun? It is as if LEGO forbid building own sets from bricks and restrict customer to building only the one from the manual. This is ridiculous.

Back to online. Qualifications removed, room settings cannot be saved, existing room settings cannot be edited, grid cannot be edited. The game has been devoid of basic functions that allow players to have fun with theirs friends. Instead of progress, we have regress. GT7 is unplayable in this aspect. Anyone who plays Gran Turismo with friends will stay with the Sport edition.

The lack of new tracks, well-known single player challenges from previous games, and few new cars make the GT7 feel more like a remaster of previous parts than some new and special game. A small number of changes can be understood in a series that is released every year like FIFA, NBA, etc. But not in Gran Turismo that is released every few years.

The characters added to the game are uninteresting, their presentation is more like a browser game than AAA (avatar and written text). Their statements are as boring as if they had been prepared by some poor text generator. It’s better to read Wikipedia.

Back to UX / CX again. Changing screens activate playback of a new song, so it’s impossible to listen to entire song. It sounds more like jingles. Car descriptions cannot be scrolled using the steering wheel. The Thrustmaster T500 steering wheel works with the PS4 version of the game, but not with the PS5 version. HUD is not customizable. Videos (as boring as those generic texts) cannot be skipped. I could go on and on like that.

Generally, Polyphony Digital does not learn anything, GT games are painfully repetitive, good solutions from competing games do not go to GT. In fact, even good solutions from the series disappear (online lobby settings).

Considering what I wrote at the beginning, there is hope that GT7 will become a better game. I hope as soon as possible, before GT7 disappears forever from the disks of our consoles.

We need SPEC 2.0 ASAP that will especially fix online lobbies.

    Pros:
    + driving model
    + weather conditions
+ change of time of day

    Cons:
    - unplayable online mode
    - no new track
    - challenges pasted from earlier games
    - no significant changes
    - terrible User and Customer Experience

One of the best feature is how devs celebrating car industry, storytelling about cars has never been so engaging :) Then what I really like is soundtrack It´s astonishing then there you have plenty of customization and you can look as your car looks on different places around the world, with ray tracing on... in static scenes GT7 looks just amazing, sometimes very photorealistic, photo mode is one of the best ever made. I have never seen such a well-crafted headlights

I like how the game gradually reveals all its trumps

But now let´s look for cons. What I really dislike is car physics It´s not the worst but It´s definately not simulation, with all asistents off car is still trying to point the front of the car in the direction of travel what the... ?? Devs should definately set this feature as optional otherwise It seems very arcade.
Also there is no clutch button on DualSense controller, pitty.

This is honestly the worst GT game of all time. GT3 and 4 was where this brand was top. GT5 was good as well. But this just looks like an upscaled last gen game PS4 game. The environments look wack. Cars look great when not in gameplay as GT has always been.n

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off, I'm a big fan of the Gran Turismo series, so I was hyped to see this game release on the PS4 (I don't have the PS5). There's been 8 years between GT6 and GT7, and 4 years between GT Sport and GT7, so Polyphony had to show something for that time.

Pros: The driving physics are completely revamped, and feel far more realistic than GT Sport. No traction control on cars are bearable, curbs are a concern, wet weather driving is wonderful, etc. It definitely brings the Gran Turismo series closer towards proper sim racing games like Asseto Corsa. Progression is gradual, and you aren't handed a supercar from the start (unlike Forza). The used car dealership is a really nice addition, as well as the legendary dealership (with real-life pricing from Hagerty, which I'll get into later). There are some license tests that carry difficulty (e.g. final tests from License A and up, especially the final license of the game), the AI has been dramatically improved and are quite competitive at times. Not all the tracks have wet weather, but for the ones that does, it is wonderfully done. You'll have to worry about aquaplaning, tire grip, etc. The realism was increased a lot for GT7.

Cons: The car list can be a bit sparce. Besides the 324 cars coming from GT Sport, only about 100 or so more were added to GT7. It's a far cry from even the 700 or so that were in GT4, which feels a bit of a letdown, but at the same time these cars are given far more quality than ever. Also, with the car list, car dealerships (including the Legendary one) needs to rotate far more often. There's too many cars locked away with a slow moving dealership. Then there's three big cons:

Microtransactions and online-only. The microtransactions are overblown in the media, they aren't that bad. You can still easily grind a lot of money to buy new, fancy cars. Going back to Hagerty-pricing, while I find it interesting, I can understand some finding it frustrating. It just means you'll need to grind more for cars, which I'm not entirely angry for since grinding for unique cars has been a thing even back in Gran Turismo 4 days. None of these really-expensive cars are necessary to be competitive, they're more or less trophies for your hard work.
What scares me more is online-only. Because Polyphony has a habit of shutting off servers for old Gran Turismo games, I'm afraid that either Polyphony would need to maintain servers no matter what, or GT7 would be essentially gone in the dust once its lifecycle is gone.

I know menus are practically career mode for GT7, but there needs to be more in the game once all the menus are complete. What happened to the A-Spec/B-Spec championships that were around for GT5/GT6? The missions are pretty nice, but besides that, there's a lack of content beyond the menus. I hope future updates rectify this.

Overall it is an excellent game. There are notable flaws, but that's just expected with new games nowadays. Game-as-a-service business model has taken over and GT7 needs to adapt to survive. It needs microtransactions because $60/$70 for a AAA game is becoming unfeasible, but raising these prices would cause hell with consumers, which is why game prices has been so stagnant since the 90s. And within the changing market, it's a way for not only Polyphony to make more profit but to survive in a cutthroat market space.

A huge disappointment. This feels like an unfinished game. There’s a low amount of cars (424) and tracks, but I could look past that if it weren’t for one thing: there’s almost no events at all, and they’re drip-fed to you via an annoying progression system. Gone are the good old days where you could see tons of events on the map, each focusing on a particular era of car, or drivetrain, or model, etc. In GT7, there’s really only three events available at a time and you’re pretty much forced to do them, because that’s the only way to unlock more. There’s also no point in getting anything beyond a National B license, because you’re never going to need anything higher. There’s two tiers of license that are completely skippable.

I was really hoping GT7 would be a return to form after the disappointment that was GT Sport, but ultimately all we got was pretty much the same game again. Except Sport actually has more events. As it stands, I definitely wouldn’t recommend this game, even to die-hard GT fans; unless you’re only interested in online races. Wait for a sale, or more content to be added, or both. In the meantime, maybe go play GT 4. Despite coming out well over a decade before GT 7, it has twice the cars, tracks and over three times the events, and it remains the best GT game by a long shot.

Another overrated game by the corrupted gaming media. Now with more greedy DLC practices than ever.

The game is addicting, collecting, tuning, and racing my cars has kept me waiting anxiously to the end of the day so I can play more Gran Turismo 7, only complaint is the lack of more modern cars, aka: Tesla Model 3, Porsche Panamera, Aston Martin Vantage, Lucid Air, Mercedes Benz AMG Gt 4 door, Genesis G80, Kia Stinger, BMW M3, and of course more SUVs.

Nothing ground breaking just another GT game, and I honesty can’t understand what these reviewers were thinking, they must have gotten paid under the table for those inflated review scores

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
