Always on is really **** when the servers are down…
Also the micro transactions are really a greedy move.
It’s ok for polyphony to earn money, but not on that way…kinda sad that all the good studios/publishers are going to the evil side.

Lack of new content compared to GT sport. Terrible progression sorry mode (cafe). In game currency is atrocious. Roulette gives you parts for cars you can’t afford or don’t own. Menus continue to be over complicated.

You have to progress the game in a very precise order, also forced to go in and out of coffee shop, go to race, check restrictions, get back to garage and tunning to prep the car, get back to race place, annoying 10 screens you have to go back and forward

Cars are old, you don't get basically any new iteration of any brand, 99% are the cars from the 9 years old GT6 I didn't even know

I didn't even know until today that I have to play 30.000 races to get all the cars and the list is mainly sad. 300 cars when you used to have 1000... Micro transactions filled game in order to complete it

You can't play single mode when servers are offline

Graphics and performance are not better on ps5 vs a gt sport ps4. This is not by any chance a next gen game

Company didn't respond at all in an ongoing 26 hours downtime with any update, showing how much they care about you, the customer A sad shadow of what the game was, and at 90 euro, currently not worth even 2 euros. The most expensive game in the history is the worst to play

If you also want to play split-screen forget about it. It is even worst than GT Sport. The second player cannot change any assists, change any controller and the car is always slower even when you put all the assists back on for player 1, also there is no AI that can be added to the race even on the PS5 version. Launching the split-screen mode like this just to say there is couch coop is a disgrace and should not even be included in the game in the current state, which I guess will never be updated.

I heard patch 1.07 was coming and hoped that would resolve the issue however that patch seems to have knocked out the game altogether and it won’t even open - This is affecting all users and has been going on for over 24 hours.

Polyphony have been shambolic over the last 24 hours, in which time they have undergone a 2-hr maintenance period, which has been extended for an unknown duration, meaning you basically can't play the game at all (don't even mention the lame mode that does still work). They have failed to update their customers during this period which is simply not acceptable.

This game is a full-priced one, yet they are treating it like they've used an F2P model. Congratulations on getting a step closer to becoming EA.

And then just to really screw with us servers are down for maintenance constantly (and almost two days this current time), which in Australia is at a really annoying time when you might want to play the bloody game!

More important is now gameplay and game structure. And here we are: I don‘t pay 70 Euro just for slightly better graphics compared to GT Sport. So what is with the rest of the game? Is it worth it? In my opinion it is not. One main reason is the in game currency. It has been there ever since GT entered gaming but nowadays they want you to pay real money to get enough in game credits. So if you are like me and neither have the time to grind endless hours for some virtual cars and upgrades nor want to spend additional money for in game stuff that has already being purchased within the game price (70 Euro), what will you do? I say: don‘t waste any money and don‘t waste any time for a dirty business practice. Yes, I know. GT Sport has had microtransactions as well. But they were not as aggressive. Now earning in game credits has become harder to simply force someone into paying real money for it. I will not support this. Update 18.03.22: With a new update they made it even harder to earn in game credits (only half of the old in game price money for won races).
Some other aspects leading to my decision to not buy the game:
    - after GT Sport came without classic GT circuits there are now only a few of them back in GT7. Some of the all time fan favorites are missing again
    - Rain and daytime effects are finally there but - again - not available on every track
    - again no damage model for the cars
    - the online mode with three daily races is the same as it was in GT Sport. Zero innovation.
    - last but not least the publisher decided to not offer the game to Russian players because of Russias war against Ukraine. What has this to do with someone in Russia who want‘s to play a PlayStation game? I don’t go along with this kind of collective punishment.

You need to be online all the time even for the single player content. The in-game economy is bad, you barely earn any credits and the cars are way more expensive than in the previous games. Everything is done to push you to use micro transactions to buy cars (limited availability, time restrictions, invitations required to buy some cars, etc).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent game spoiled by greedy Sony/Polyphony Digital executives. They are taking customers as mugs and think arrogantly that we should be grateful for every bone they throw us and how dare anyone complain about their product not meeting expectations. They are pushing extra monatery payments for in game creidts.

The cost of cars have gone up in value since previous versions, they have taken away ability to earn money by reducing race prize money. The game doesnt even allow you to sell cars to raise capital for different cars. There is basic no means to save quickly or a mini game economy to allow you to progress to more expensive cars. It goes against what made GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4 and GT5 good games they keep messing with great formula and ruining it because they wont listen to what customers want.

I had initially thought this time Polyphony had got it right but how wrong i they dont care about the product anymore but your continued money after payimg £70 UK cash for game it seems that is not enough and they want more of your money to enjoy the game. A game is not a flat cost anymore and everything is add ons. If i had known that before PS5 that was Sony's new business model i would never have bought one. This game it is simple, dont buy it, sony have got greedy, polyphony have got greedy, they have ruined a good game.

Finally servers down 24 hours and counting, cant play a game i paid because no offline play, disgrace sony, disgrace. You are going to lose your untouchable business with this level of contempt for you customers. Dont say you were not warned. People are going to start voting with their feet and their wallets If you dont sort this mess of a business model out.

I bought GT7 the other night and I haven't even been able to play the damn career mode since the server has been down the entire time. I can't even save my options settings, apparently you need to be online just to be able to save the fact that you're done watching the 8 minute intro every time you start up the game to nothing. Doesn't sound like I'm missing a career mode judging by the other reviews here , just the Cafe thing, which I thought sounded cool in the pro reviews, but I thought that was a cool side quest, not the whole damb career. I bought this because I've always loved the GT series and the reviews said that it had returned to it's ps1 and ps2 glory days. Obviously even game news is fake news, paid for by sponsors and given a script to read from, they've either never played the old GT or are taking money to lie.

So yeah, I'm done paying for video games. They all suck now anyway.

Having micro transactions in a AAA game that I paid £60 for is disgusting. Couple that with a botched patch implementation and subsequent 24+ (and counting) server outage and not being able to play offline - Not happy and contemplating trading it in, NOT GOOD ENOUGH Polyphony Digital!

This was so unacceptable to them that they nerfed the prize money in an update. What do you think - is it to offer you a “sense of achievement and accomplishment”, or is it to push you towards microtransactions? To buy a single “legendary” car in the game can require $120 USD of real world money, on top of the $70+ USD you paid for the game in the first place. Physics are… questionable. Sounds were acceptable in PS3, but have fallen way behind the likes of Forza. At the time of writing, servers have been down for more than 24 hours which blocks access to 99% of single player content. The only possible justification for always online here is that PD is terrified that you find a way around their microtransactions.

The latter includes removing the ability to sell cars for money, despite it being mentioned that you could, no cash prizes for multiplayer lobbies, extremely poor daily roulette rewards which are weighted towards the poorest prize (and even then, the best prize is generally still terrible). And worst of all they are actively patching the game to quash any vaguely reasonable, legitimate methods for earning cash.

Moreover, this installment is heavily biased towards making you buy microtransactions and/or grinding the same race for hours to get a basic car. I genuinely do not understand how developers keep making the same mistakes and do not learn from one another. Microtransactions kill games, kill the grind and ultimately are a middle finger towards your fanbase. This is not a free-to-play or some indie game, everyone's paid around 70 pounds to get access to play this game and it's been designed to milk more cash from the players. It is no longer a "driving simulator," the game is literally a "car collector" game and the game does not hide this either. Your main level rank is a "car collector level." The driving itself is fun, but online playing (if the servers work, which they do not for a while now) is borderline impossible since you need credits to tune your car.

Single player would be fun if there was something after the GT cafe. What is left after the shortest single player campaign in a GT game ever is the collection and tuning of cars and trying them out on the track. If you have the credits. Which you don't. If you can get the cars. Which you can't, since it's a roulette wheel of daily prizes. If you can play at all. Which you can't since the servers are down.

Still, the driving is really fun. The Dualsense implementation is top notch and if Polyphony manages to at least remove the greedy practices, I'm sure we can have a good overall game. In its current unplayable state, the money is better spent somewhere else.

First of all earning credit in this game is incredibly slow, but the worst thing about is that you can spend real money to get credit and it is incredibly overpriced. 20euro for 2million credit. 2mill credit is next to nothing given the game is really pushing the car collecting on you. Plus most of the cars have about 200k plus credit worth of modifications to buy.

Secondly the game offers nothing over GT Sport. The only truly new thing is the lazy and boring gt coffee mode (witch is most of the single player campain). It is just a bunch of 2-3 lap races for cars the you abandon for the rest of the campain. On top of this the AI is horrible. On some tracks they are really slow, on other tracks they are okay. But the worst of them all is that the AI strait out ignores you. Spin you around, squeeze you off the track. The other new thing is the street car tuning with the Performance Point system. It takes the power of the car, the weight and the suspensions characteristics to calculate a number. It does not translate well to actual performance when you drive the car.
Every other modes ( circulate experience, license test ) are available in GT Sport. Given that there are only 3 new track there is not a lot have been added to GT7.

Driving the cars at least is good. It is not a simulator, but more complex than a arcade racer. Perfect combination to race online. The driving is the only reason why I'm not rating it lower than 5/10. It is such a shame that the daily races are still update once a week.

If you loved other GT games GT7 is a fine way to play on a modern system but it has nothing new. If you got bored with GT Sport or you looking for a simulator on the PS5 this isn't the game for you. If they increase credit earned for races, add more tracks and touch up the AI, than the game could be a 8/10.

*edit: ok so for the last 24 hours the game was literately unplayable because the servers are down. **** this **** Originally rated it for 5/10 but a 0/10 is more appropriate.

I won't even talk about the current unplayable status due to the downed servers and the always online requirements **** happens, but **** wouldn't be so big if the game didn't require online) but the game has more fundamental problems that for me disqualify it from the legendary Gran Turismo legacy.

First and most important, for me, is the lack of a real career mode. This is what defined a Gran Turismo game for me and the café thing is definitely not a replacement.

Second, it lacks a lot of content. It has less cars, less tracks, and less races. It has no NASCAR and almost no rally. It has no real life karts (it has a ridiculously overpowered kart) or kart tracks.

Third, the microtransaction thing is awful. I don't care about microtransactions in games where they don't affect the flow of the normal game (like in Call of Duty games, for example) but in this game a lot of stuff is clearly designed to make you buy credits with real money, for example:

    - More than half of the cars are more than 100.000 credits and more than 10% are more than a million (WTF?). Some cars are 20 million! By comparison, the most expensive car in Gran Turismo 5 was 500k.
    - The awful "ticket lottery" system where most of the time you get the lowest price (5k, 10k, a random tuning piece which is usually even worth less and for some specific car). I have opened like 20 tickets and not on a single one I got a car or the biggest credit stack. Truly infuriating, specially when you are reminded that you can buy more credits with money after getting the ****ty price.
    - The nerfed payouts in tracks. This is aggravated by the lack of content, meaning you would be grinding the same 2-3 races that pay half-decently to get the cars you want (and as a bonus, it looks like they will nerf the payouts of the few races that pay well). In previous Gran Turismo games there was a grind to get money, of course, but you had a lot of content and variety so it didn't feel so.
    - You can't sell cars. A feature, mind you, they announced the game had.

The game has other problems, inherited from previous Gran Turismo games, but that in 2022 you could expect would have some improvements:

    - The AI is not really and AI but more like trains on a track. They almost never overtake among themselves and if you are in front of them they will totally wreck you. Poliphony has promised a new, better AI will come but it's not there right now.
    - The sound is pretty good for some cars but mostly bad for most of them, with the same old "angry vacuum cleaner" sound. Same for the skidding sound which is the same sound you had in GT1 so many years ago, and always the same sound for all cars and tires.
    - The UI is awful and lacks shortcuts. For example, you can tune your car before a race, you have to go several steps back to the world map, then go to the tuning shop and tune it there.
    - Split creen more has an horrible framerate.
    - Sport mode is basically broken right now.

On the positive side, the game looks beautiful (trough I would have expected more for a 2022 PS5 game, specially the lack raytracing during gameplay smells bad) and the handing of the cars seem to be good (at least the RX8, which is the same car I have in real life, have a very similar handing).

So, in summary, this game doesn't feel like a Gran Turismo numbered game but a lazy work over GT Sport with the cafe thing tacked in and nerfed payouts so you have to buy microtransactions.

Pre-ordered from launch so had a good amount of time with the game. As far as the gameplay, customisation, car selection and modes go the game is brilliant. Unfortunately the game requires always online connection which means you can’t play even single player without server access. The game has spent more time in server maintenance than being available to play which when you have spent full price at launch is frustrating. To add to this the recent update has reduced race payouts hugely with some going from £100,000 to £40,000 which adds to what was already a huge grind for the best cars in the game. This all comes after reviews have already been published which stinks from the developers. There is a good game at the heart of gt7 but currently the microtansactions and servers completely spoil that. Expand

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
