You've left over 145,000,000 RU people in unable to play this game, Blocked all player purchases from buying or adding games to the PS Store library through the subscription service. For a second, a pre-paid subscription for 1 year! This is a real genocide and neglect of the huge fan base who bought PS 5 consoles just for this game. Now, even if you return to our country, no one wants to buy something, much less spend money on micro-transactions in this game. The game is very beautiful, I'm sure that it perfectly reveals the capabilities of the console. But we will never know this. Expand

Server down 24 hours and no significant update from dev. Speechless. No word to express my disappointment. If they still continue this weird always-online-for-career-mode style after this catastrophic failure, then they’re too dumb to take any lesson from this

They reduced race payouts by 1/3 in order to force people to buy credits with real money. They did this after launch, this is nothing but a bait and switch and a scam!

On top of this the game has very bad always online DRM.

    Avoid at all costs.

For a full price game the move towards MTX after launch is unacceptable. NVM the online required connection the fact that we paid for a full game only to see it turn into a kind of mobile game economy where you have to continually invest in is beyond frustrating.
The game itself is very good and enjoyable but the obvious push for MTX breaks the whole thing..

Wow, this must be a bad joke. Always on is bad enough, the ingame prices were bad enough before Patch 1.07/1.08 but the statement of kaz is a punch in the face. I hate myself for preordering this game now and i am a fan of this series from Part 1. My heart hurts.

I paid full price for this game but cannot play it. Offline single player mode doesn’t exist and currently online completely collapsed. You cannot easily own all the cars you want unless you pay for it. They somehow managed to mess this game up, it could have been a much better if the developer was not this greedy

Simply put, the game is not fun anymore. You cannot sell cars, and there are very few races available that pay a worthwhile number of credits, forcing you to replay the same race over and over again. Somehow they took the winning formula from the early games and made everything worse. In those games (GT 2,3,4) you were able to meaningfully progress with each race, and each car upgrade opened doors for more races, allowing you to feel like you were making your way up from the bottom in a racing career. In GT7, you're forced to collect dozens of reward cars that you won't ever drive or care about. Coupled with the rolling-start format of all the campaign races in which some of your opponents have a 30+ second lead, it just makes for a terrible single-player experience. I don't imagine this game will ever be fixed, since Polyphony has given in to greed and cynically tuned the game's mechanics to extract the most amount of money possible from players. Expand

Driving alone it the best in the series but the broken economy with focus on micro transactions (even more with patch 1.08) with fomo on top on that( the way legendary car market is designed). It's the gt with the lowest payouts in the series to date.

Game totally geared around forcing the player in to micro transactions to get anywhere in the game. Payouts from races are so low and prices for cars so high that GT7 would need to be your full time job to purchase any of the higher end vehicles

It's been review bombed by Reddit users following maintenance on the server. Unfortunately an issue came up when the game was being updated which resulted in 2 hour maintenance turning into about 36 hours. Not ideal, but the alternative was the possibility of save data being corrupted if the more serious issue was not resolved, and I know what people would have complained about more.

The other complaint is 'microtransactions'. Please be careful in trusting what you read in the negative reviews. I've seen comparisons to an FTP mobile game. This is nonsense. There is the option to add credits via microtransactions, but they there is absolutely no requirement to put in your real money to progress.

There is a significant amount of entitlement from users review bombing the game, people want the rarest most expensive cars in their garage within days of buying the game. If you do too, then this might not be the game for you. You have to put in time to buy the best cars. As it should be in my opinion.

People who remember playing early Gran Turismo's will know. You used to have to grind an oval track over and over again to tune your cap car, only to buy another crap car and start the grind all over again. In comparison, on GT7, I've got 750,000 credits in the bank, been gifted 40+ cars in my garage I haven't even used yet, and you get gifted cars to use in the next stage of each campaign so you don't even have to buy a new car when you move car class. I haven't had to buy a new car yet to progress. Not a single one. So if you see people saying "I've played all games in the series and this is predatory etc etc"... Ignore it, they're lying.

Now onto the game. It's great, the racing is great, the feeling of the cars is great, the game looks absolutely brilliant. The only racing game where I can happily sit and watch the replays of every race I do. It has great tuning options and some nice modding options. Livery creation and sharing is fantastic, and the showcase photo mode is really nice to experiment with.

If you like racing games and have played and enjoyed previous GT games then it'd worth getting. If you like racing games but want every car unlocked within the first fortnight of owning the game with minimal effort, it's probably not for you.

My own complaint would be the length of the campaign currently. You can smash through it, and then just carry on with races that aren't part of the campaign or create your own races. If you like racing, like I do, that's fine, it's extremely enjoyable to play. If you need a campaign path for the game to stay relevant to you then again, this may not be for you. For now. I say for now, because they will be adding more content in the future. Maybe give it a year and revisit the game then to see what new content has been added to the game. Summary, ignore the ridiculously low user scores, they do not paint any sort of realistic picture about the game. If you just like racing and don't mind working towards earning new cars, then you'll love this game.

If you want everything from the start and only want to race a few races to be able to afford the most expensive car in the game, then this won't be for you.

Drives like Gran Turismo, graphics are lovely, but as a game it is sooooooo bad. Clearly the design brief was "Get the player addicted, then periodically make the gameplay so annoying they will pay money to skip it." In other words, it's just a very expensive mobile-style money grab, constantly pushing the player into micro-transaction hell. Avoid at all costs.

This is my first review on this site, this is how strongly I am annoyed at this game.
I bought this game on launch to play. It's a racing game I played as a child and it seemed like a nice nostalgia trip. When I was in highschool I bought a used PS3 just to play this game! That's how much I loved it.
My first few hours with the game where great. I had a great time, the racing was fun.

I bought this game on launch to play. It's a racing game I played as a child and it seemed like a nice nostalgia trip. When I was in highschool I bought a used PS3 just to play this game! That's how much I loved it.

My first few hours with the game where great. I had a great time, the racing was fun. The money was a tad grindy but really not bad for what I was needing the money for.

I took a break due to life for a few days and an update came out. 1.06. "Sweet!" I thought to myself, there might be some new content or at the least bug fixes! I was wrong.

1.06 broke licensing, the gateway to progressing the game. All rally license tests where swapped from dirt tires to road tires. I spent literally 4 hours trying to pass a test because it seemed ungodly hard (I already got the previous 2 rally tests done without an issue). Watching the example I couldn't do anything close to what they where doing and it was infuriating. Near the end of the 4 hours I said screw it, maybe someone online has something to say about how to do this and I'm just bad? After a quick google search I found the bug and that it was broken.

So I put the game down and thought to myself, "I'll just wait for it to get patched."
2 weeks later they release 1.07. "Sweet" I think to myself, they patched the issue that was stopping me from progressing!

Turns out they also kneecapped the payouts to races. Which up to this point, EVERY TIME you get paid you get to see the "Top up balance" option under your money just reminding you to spend a little cash to progress faster! Which I didn't really mind as I didn't have to grind that hard to progress. And without grind the game wouldn't be as fun. But now you make money sometimes 50% slower than before. That's disgusting.

TLDR: was a chidlhood fan, if they don't undo their greed I WILL NEVER purchase this game again. Adding to that, I will never purchase a playstation ever again, as this removes any desire I have to own one! And I'll stick to PC gaming. Where at least I can undo game breaking updates. which I've never experienced before this point in my life.

P.S. If they undo the extra greed they did to payouts I'll give most of the points back. But a game breaking bug that doesn't get patched for weeks after launch is brutal for any game.

The entire game seems a bit outdated. Driving mechanics could be better, career mode is linear and it’s downright frustrating to start every race positioned dead last and have to race through 10+ racers and come in first place. Rewards for winning were bad enough to begin with but have gotten worse with the new update that make progression a major grind. You’re either going to have to work you a$$ off or prepare to pay in the form of micro transactions or else most cars will be unattainable. This game had a lot of potential and I’m sure several gamers like myself had a lot of hope from this game but it’s disappointed. Focus on the players and the money will come… too bad they chose to focus on the micro-transactions. Another game I’ll never be playing again…

Some of those expensive exotic hybrid cars are dominating the online multiplayer by 5+ seconds a lap which is technically a pay to win system even when cheaper rival cars have an identical PP number. I’m not sure how much Sony paid for some of these 100 reviews from those professional reviewers but it’s a disgrace that they failed to mention the pay to win system especially as this game is very focused on the online multiplayer as it’s a driving simulator Also this game is unplayable off line even with a disk…. I’m only writing this review as I’ve spent 30 hours with a game that cost me £70 (90US$) that I couldn’t play due to server problems. I deliberately bought this game on disk for times like this. Since downloading update to fix the server outage, I’m now receiving less credit for winning races which is why this game has micro transactions to top up your account. Also the used cars in the shop have a limited number so if you don’t buy them before your next race, they are sold out when you earn the credits to afford them ….. another reason for micro transactions This game also features loot crates (cars, credits or upgrade parts) which from the ones I’ve opened so far have always given me the worst reward. The coffee guy is a prime example of a dictator. You have to do what he says and the report to him after you did it or you can't move forward.
When games get more open in 2020's,, GT7 decided that it would take the freedom you had from GT1 all the way to GT6 away from you. You can't plan ahead as you don't see the tree of what is coming. The game is micromanaging you.
For a game that calls itself a "SIM",, I feel like cars all drive kind of the same like if they only built 8 "behavior patterns" and then make them slide more or brake less. It's not really good.
I have played 30 missions and never had to buy a car, or make an upgrade. Cars are handed to you and don't even need to upgrade tires to win races. I have yet to had to re-do a race to win the race.
To be transparent, I did skip GT Sports as it didn't have a career mode and maybe that is why I am not blinded by this new GT7 as an upgrade. I still play GT5 on a PS3 and GT6 on a PS3 and for me this GT7 I believe, will not be "IT".

As for the "ONLINE" racing,, I couldn't care less. I don't play with others. I am old school playing "story" or career.
On the good side,,, I bought this game as physical copy so, I am probably going to sale it soon. I don't think it has any re-playable value to me.

But... It seems that Polyphony Digitals really want us to use micro transactions in their game because they decided in the last update to reduce the credits earned... So by now you need to do the same race 400 times... Or buy 20 Millions credits for 200$... Fine...

I can’t possibly recommend the game at any upfront price in its current state. First, the required internet connection at all times is disruptive for those of us only interested in single player. The game has been completely inaccessible for over 24 hours at the time of this writing as the developer struggles with a server outage. Insane! Second is an unusually greedy microtransaction system. After a very short series of single player tasks, it becomes very difficult to earn enough to acquire more cars without a massive time grind. The economy was already broken, but the developer introduced a patch to make it even worse! This is something you might expect from free-to-play shovelware, but not from a full-price game pushed heavily by Sony. Unfortunately given my experience with this game so far, I can’t trust this developer to act with integrity and would strongly recommend avoiding this title. Expand

I have created an account here solely for this game. This is how strongly I feel about this game.

I have been gaming for 32 years. I have bought every GT release ever, including all the prologues, specs etc. So I am a big GT lover. This game has been the one game above all else that I have been the most excited for.

For the first 2 weeks, the game was a joy to play, and I was bemused by the complaints of other gamers. Visuals, sound, car physics etc are all top work. No complaints here at all.

However, it becomes crystal clear when you are progressing through the Cafe mode, that the big thing in this game, is the microtransactions and the lack of the GT campaign. After the Cafe mode, which is a forced car collection, there is no GT campaign mode as you have in previous games. There is no section that lists the Amateur, Beginner, professional etc races. No menu where you can jump into the Sunday Cups, or the FF/FR Challenges etc.

Gran Turismo without its campaign mode, and an easy way to jump into competition races, is absolutely abhorrent. This should have been made perfectly clear to us before buying the game.

As you play the Cafe mode, you get roulette tickets for completing certain aspects - the roulette tickets are then an RNG encounter that is heavily, and I mean HEAVILY weighted to give you the lowest reward possible, and then IMMEDIATELY prompts you to buy credits from PSN. I am talking situations where there are 5 rewards, for example a race car, 500k credits, a engine swap, 1million credits, 5k credits. I have yet to receive any cars, any car parts, any gold bars. For every ticket, it has been the lowest credit reward. Reading social comments, this is the same for a large chunk of players.

But it is ok, because you can sell your cars that you ha......oh no. Wait. Nope. Despite the PSN description saying it, and despite it being in GT games forever, you cannot sell your cars for credits. The push for MTX is sickening.

    But that isn't it.

PD are that intent on forcing the MTX, that just yesterday they pushed an update which slashed the credits received for a load of races you select by navigating to the track selector. They did this because gamers were playing one track over and over to get credits, as the game as very little way of rewarding you.

This update killed the game by the way, and as of writing this some 24 hours later, it is still broken. PD want this game online only as they are concerned about credit trading and hacking, so this £70 game is now useless when they are broken their end. (still cant play now)

Playing the game naturally doesn't give the user the credits as they approach the end of the Cafe. In order for the player to gain new cars, aside the daily mileage rewards, there literally is nothing presented to the player. You can't jump into a menu with the competitions in as one doesn't exist. If you want to do a race that was in the Sunday Cup for example, you have to go to the track world, select one of the 3 world areas, then go through each track and select it, and then check what event it is used for, then select the event you want. Crazy navigations.

When we saw the trailers, you see CGI of race weekends, with the trucks and trailers and pit crews etc. As of menu book 37 in the Cafe mode, there has been 1 race with standing starts, and 0 with tyre wear or fuel usage, and 0 with pit action.

There are more things I could mention but I just don't have the effort in me to trash the GT name anymore. I am not angry, even though I should be. I am sorely disappointed that a franchise such as GT has been allowed to become a cesspool of MTX. There has been 0 thought here about how the player will feel with this aggressive push towards buying credits.

The maddening thing, is that the game has all the ingredients there to be a superb racing game ; but they have thrown up a wall of MTX to halt the players progress in the hope they will use their credit card.

This game has been deleted off my system, and unless there is a huge overhaul of this game, the GT franchise is now dead to me.

And because Micro Transactions are as crazy as it gets with maximum P2W and inacceptable grind times for a car... Your garage would not develop unless you buy credits or grind like hell.
Sony and the developers went several steps too far with this inacceptable game concept. One point for good racing but the whole surrounding overshadows this by far. Forza 5 is the total opposite and very player friendly (Offline mode and also no Micro Transactions and good progress).

Gameplay is good, but everything around it is bad. Always online and the micro-transactions are really bad. They are going out of their way to make it harder for people to unlock stuff through gameplay.

While media outlets rushed into their reviews giving this game inflated high scores, us gamers realized Sony's true intentions once the reviews were on display. From predatory microtransactions carrying a massive amount of unfair grind to an unnecessary vicious Always-Online system in place that will always be affected by updates and maintenance.

Sony's priority is not the consumer, but

I won't give it a 0 because frankly the gameplay is still quite enjoyable.

But the fact that they decided to make an already very grindy game MORE grindy just to push more people toward paying real money, after most people purchased and got past the refund period - totally unacceptable. This is a Sony first-party title. It's totally ruined their reputation in my eyes. I will never be

The game is good but the problem is the MT. If you want to progress and to buy cars, you need to pay with real money and it's a really big problem. Without talking about the 2 days maintenance of the game without compensation ...

Predatory Micro-transactions, loot boxes, cars are too expensive and not always available to buy even if you have the money. Basically online all the time and no real career mode. Over-all poor execution from a trusted company. Shame.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
