    Guessing that most folks leaving rave reviews are paid to. This game is a cash grab and the AI is not great. For all mission races, starts as rolling starts where you are at first about 20 seconds behind leader and then grows to around 40+ by the later missions. Raffle tickets give lowest value item 95% of the time and best cars on the game take forever to afford, especially now that theGuessing that most folks leaving rave reviews are paid to. This game is a cash grab and the AI is not great.     As far as gameplay, AI is pretty poor, cars look good in cut scenes but track scenery looks extremely basic. Lots of customization to do as expected but most of the racing is spent playing catch up to the leaders and earning cars that mostly go unused and most importantly, cannot be sold for cash to fund purchases for worthy cars.

    Extremely disappointed in this purchase and wish I had at least bought the disc to sell it back. Instead, I'm stuck with a game I'm forced to spend real money on to enjoy.    … Expand

    Microtransactions make this game unplayable. The payouts for races are a joke. It's a slap in the face to people who paid their hard earned money for the game.

    Graphics are nice, but not the best in racing games I would say. It lacks of variety on modes after finishing the campaign. Forcing you to be online to play single player modes is absurd, and the game is designed forcing you to buy credit with real money, embarrassing.

    This is a disgusting move and we should not support it. They waited for the favourable reviews and then they tactically and cynically broke the game in a bid to grab cash from loyal fans. Vile behavior that should have regulation. We don't have the game we bought.

    The way the store is handled in this game alongside the insane micro transactions show that Sony and Polyphony Studios are completely out of touch and don’t care about the gamers. It is nothing less than predatory behaviour. This game had the potential to be something incredibly special in the racing genre, but has been completely ruined.     I've been coming to this site for around 10 years and only now decided to sign up for the sole purpose of giving this and every other game that goes down the same path a zero. For a Game that's 80% offline its not right you need to be always online to access offline content.     Total focus on microtransaktions. The new update reduced the rewards and made it even worse. You always have to be online, even if you only play singleplayer. When the server is down you cant play.
    No carrer mode, only a Café which is a joke.
    The game is very short, you are done with it after a weekend.
    I am playing Gran Turismo since GT 1. But this was my last one...

The unfortunate thing is that the microtransactions are ruining the experience at this point.     Pushing people down the micro-transactions route is overly predatory. Always online requirement for single player is ridiculous. Such a shame as the actual racing is a lot of fun!

Loading races crashes the game sometimes and there are times the servers are down and I am unable to play for days, since you need online access to play single player. Also, the cars are way to expensive and require you to pay real money to have a chance at getting any of the good ones. This is unacceptable for a 60-`100 dollar game. This is a disgusting model and I will be hesitant to buy any PS franchise game moving forward.     This game was already terrible before the 1.07 update and a far cry from any of the old GT games where you could keep playing for months. You can finish the cafe and missions and licenses in less than a week, only to be rewarded by the realization that you will never afford any of the good cars by simply playing the game unless you fork out real money.

However any time you receive any of amount of credits in-game you have a very large button, middle of the screen "top up on PS store". Garbage. Missing ability to sell used cars and buy car upgrades (they have to be won with tickets...) No endurance races for late game cars. Required online only, if the servers have an update day bye to the game and any add ons you bought also you won't be able to get a refund, might be less of an issue if you can buy the disk version. Also there is an unskippable 10 minute intro credits scene. Game itself is good but it's trying so hard to not let you actually do racing you have to listen to a million interrupting texts that ruin any immersion. It's too bad that this could have been an extremely impressive game but it ended up being another over hyped game that under delivers.… Expand

    Developers made some very stupid and greedy decisions. The game is hamstrung by being required to be always online. So when servers go down for 24 hours, you can’t progress in any of your single player content, which is where 90% of the people who pick this game up play according to the trophy list. This is kind of fun at first but you may waste hours on a car that just isn’t capable of being competitive in the class it’s in regardless of how you tune it. GT sport at least did the tuning for you so you didn’t waste hours and credits attempting to get a car to be competitive, only to find out it’s just not possible with the current car you have. Main complaint for me though, is the always online addition. I get that for multiplayer game modes, but why when the servers go down on the games end, is it not designed to still work and let you play single player content? Just a dumb design. The game will essentially be dead when servers turn off. There will be no way to play this game in the future like there is for the old GT games of the past. It’s pretty sad.… Expand

    I watched some reviews for GT7 before it released and was excited to play the game. During this review period no details on microtransactions were shown. The game is released and microtransactions are displayed. This would be acceptable IF they provided reviewers with the microtransaction model before release. THIS IS A DISGUSTING PRACTICE and should not be considered common practice by consumers. They clearly delayed microtransactions to get positive reviews. I also feel reviewers have a responsibility to update their reviews or do a follow up when such substantial changes are made. On top of this when they realize people are finding a way to make grinding for credits at least somewhat bearable, they release an update to reduce the amount of credits you can earn in almost every race. The downfalls of an always online single player model have been shown in full force with nearly 24 hours of downtime for server maintenance. I can forgive some of the bugs but when you have ill intentions with your extremely loyal fanbase, and treat them like cash cows, that is something I can't forgive.

    Some of this is my fault too. I bought this game without hesitation because of my enjoyment of past Polyphony Digital releases. But now I know that every developer's integrity is for sale. This has been a learning experience for me. DO NOT PRE ORDER GAMES. Wait a couple months before you purchase a game. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET and the industry will change.    … Expand

    Can't even refund because it is a digital copy, and PS Store just denies it, because we downloaded the game. Yes, simply starting the download of a game denies you any chance of refund, even when the game is not working properly with 30+ hours dowtime in a row.

    Paid $80 for an unplayable game. Don't even know why it needs to be always-online when 90% of the game areas are single-player focused.

    Also they've introduced poorly weighted prize draws and micro-transactions to buy in-game currency.

    All of these boardroom decisions clearly marks the end of a great legend.

    I regret to have bought the digital version. I cannot sell this disappointing GT7 in second hand market. Micro transactions destroys the joy of play and the lack of recent cars is hard to understand.

    I grew up playing Gran Turismo. 3 on PS2, 5 on PS3 and I completely missed Sport on PS4 so my hype levels were pretty high for 7. As others have mentioned, the first two weeks were a blast to play through. But I can't appreciate that Polyphony Digital has taken 25 years of goodwill surrounding a beloved franchise and thrown it away for the sake of pushing microtransactions.

    The in-game economy is clearly designed to encourage players to spend real money on in-game credits. Many of the cars in the game cost a substantial amount of money and can only be purchased under certain time-restricted conditions, a move that PD is clearly hoping will inspire FOMO-induced spending of real-world money. When players figured out which race had the most efficient time-to-credits payout, PD introduced a game update that substantially reduced that race's earnings. Gran Turismo games have always been grindy, but they've been fair. I don't want an easy game, but I also don't want a game that cheapens itself by making it feel like the only viable way to experience it the way I'd like is by spending more of my real money.

    I could excuse that if this were a free-to-play game, but it isn't; GT7 is a full priced AAA title, and I'm one of the franchise enthusiasts who paid $90 for the commemorative 25th Anniversary Edition hard copy. To make things worse, the single player campaign requires an internet connection. That means that if my internet falters (a not-uncommon issue in rural America where I live) or if the company's servers are down for maintenance or repair (as they were recently, for many hours), I get a substantially impaired single player experience. Taking this to its inevitable conclusion, there may come a time when the company decides the game is no longer with supporting and shuts down the servers, resulting in all players losing their single-player progress and ability to play the full single player campaign.

    I do have some hope, as these issues can be alleviated if PD cares enough to fix them. They've already said they'll be adding more races and championships over time to flesh out the single player campaign, and there's nothing keeping them from adjusting race payouts to better match the time commitments they require. And while I'm not a software engineer, I'd imaging there's a way they can eliminate the always-online requirement to access at least the core functionality of the single player campaign. The game may have some serious flaws, but also plenty of potential as long as PD decides to prioritize user experience over pushing microtransactions.

Very happy to see the return of license tests and tuning likes games of old. However, the game is absolutely empty after your initial play of the game.     I was a huge fan of GT 1-4 and when I read how GT7 was going to bring back those days I never had second thoughts pre ordering this game, how wrong I was and now feeling like I've been scammed by then one game developer I had highest hopes for. This bait and switch, predatory tactic is the worst I have encountered. probably on par with cyberpunk fiasco. shame on Sony and PD!

    This is not the Gran Turismo you love. I'm sorry.

    The in game economy is broken to funnel players towards the aggressive microtransactions. The game is online only for some baffling reason and you will finish the single player in a couple of evenings.

    I remember taking turns with a friend on Gran Turismo 2 for weeks on end. Those days are gone.

Barely any newer cars with the majority being 5+ years old from all the major brands. Don't expect to drive any new Prosche, BMW, AMG, Ferrari, Chevy, Ford and so on. My biggest gripe with Forza Horizon 5 was the lack of new cars, but this one takes the cake.This game is so disappointing in every way outside of driving. The AI is horrific and the races are all a sprint from the back. Barely any newer cars with the majority being 5+ years old from all the major brands. Don't expect to drive any new Prosche, BMW, AMG, Ferrari, Chevy, Ford and so on. My biggest gripe with Forza Horizon 5 was the lack of new cars, but this one takes the cake.

    The UI is horrendous for a current game with a lot of clicking to move around. The avatars that interact with you look like stolen clip art and very unoriginal. They have never ending dialogue and the cafe owner wants to lecture you on cars every time you try to get new races.

    The music is also a mix bag of annoyance, Final Fantasy and 32-bit golf. Why did they feel the need to remix classical music as digitized jazz? It will then flip to a modern song which is jarring. Forza at least offer channels so you can decide what genre to listen to.

    The game has also become a live service with all of the trappings of loot, real money for in-game currency and prize wheels. Why do I have to sit through a long, drawn out animation, to see what prize I get.

    Both Sony and Polyphony should be ashamed of this game and where it has gone. They took a series that was 100% about cars and racing and made it 10% of a bunch of modern garbage. Spent all the money on ways to make more money and not on the heart of the game.    … Expand

But then I realized that the money making process is very very slow, but still borderline. Then they just released a patch and reduced the money you get to "make the game more realistic" or as they probably really meant, make more money with the game as people will be more willing to spent money on microtransactions which btw are advertised constantly in the game. The game is also always online, even if you just want to play the singleplayer. Probably so that you cant use an older version where you get more money per race :)

    Until now every first party Sony game was fair, (mostly) without microtransactions and when there where problems, the developers heard the feedback and did what the fans begged they would but this game concerns me, I know the game is not a 0 out of 10 but I hope that the developers will see the bad user score and change their mind and reverse their decision to make the game such a grind. Im a grown man, i dont have the time to play the game the whole day long to get some virtual cars. Please listen to the fans and let us have the old racing rewards or even increase them because even that was very very borderline.    … Expand

    Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
