    I don't normally post reviews here unless the game is uniquely good or bad, and this is the rare occasion that it is neither. The reason I put a goose egg as the score is due to Sony's greed. Make no mistake: If this doesn't get fixed soon, this is standard all PS games will go by.

    Love cars and love the way the game progresses through from the cafe to themed races. Realism is at the top level. Have not found a fault yet.

    - recent patch reduced CR rewards for some events - linear boring, even bizarre "cafe" missions - roulette spins most of the time land on the lowest    - microtransactions

    - the game does well to hinder your ability to actually race through boring missions and stories about racers. I don't need to know that Pedro moved to Japan when he was 5 and he thinks the flowers are pretty around the track
    - raytracing only available in cutscenes and replays

    I loved GT1 and GT2 and this was meant to be my return to this series. I even preordered the 25th Anniversary as soon as preorders opened.

    I am truly disappointed and cannot recommend this game, at least in the current form.    … Expand

    For 25 years, I've given my money for every Gran Turismo game. In turn, I've spend countless hours over those 25 years playing what I feel are the best racing games ever made.
    For what it's worth, I feel that Gran Turismo 7 does live up to the expectations that have been set by it's predecessors.     For what it's worth, I feel that Gran Turismo 7 does live up to the expectations that have been set by it's predecessors. The graphics are exceptional, and the simulation of each car's appearance, sound, and performance, along with the customization and tuning abilities, are unmatched. Although many others (understandably) detest the linear and forced nature of the "Cafe" progression system, I don't mind it. It's a massive departure from past games, but I don't think change is necessarily a bad thing. Now for the rest of it. You all know exactly what I'm going to say.

    WTF.

    You greedy, soulless bastards. How dare you charge $60 - $80 for a game, and then basically force microtransactions on top of it? Yeah, I know, I know. You're not forcing micrtransactions. Except, you definitely are. How else is anyone going to buy any of the cars that are available for X number of days, without buying additional credits? I can't grind on these tracks all day every day to earn the millions of credits that I need to buy the cars that should always be available to buy at an attainable price, because, you know, that's why I bought the game. And do you know why I can't spend all day grinding for credits? Because I have a job. That I need to go to every day to support my family, and maybe once in a while, drop some of my hard earned money on a game. And when I do, I'll be damned if I want to pay for it, only to find out that the only parts of it worth playing are going to cost me even more real, green, not fake credits, actual, money. Legal tender. Screw you guys.

    And when I thought that maybe you were about to make it right, when you shut the entire game down for 2 days, presumably to fix the countless bugs, and hopefully put the right tires on the cars since you didn't give us the ability to do it ourselves in many races, what did you do? You filthy snakes. You lowered the payouts for the highest paying races to make it even more difficult to access the most desirable cars in the game? What the hell is wrong with you?

    But wait, there's more. Kazunori Yamaguchi, what on Earth are you thinking? Because on top of all that, (presumably in an attempt to delineate the boundless idiocy of those insufferable peasants who dared to question your blatant chicanery), you actually had the balls to post that ridiculous letter, an absolute masterclass in "How To Be Both Woefully Disaffected And Astonishingly Tone Deaf". The convoluted explanation doesn't even make a bit of sense. Keeping the cars at real world prices? OK, whatever, but for that logic to hold up, it stands to reason that the payouts for winning races would also align with real world numbers. And by any measure, it's not even close. And that was true before you lowered the winnings for the top races. How stupid do you think your customer base is? Did you think that no one would notice? That Seriously, did no one even suggest that maybe it wasn't such a great idea to share that apathetic response before you published it? Who's in charge of Public Relations over there, freakin Scrooge McDuck?

    Jesus Christ, you might as well just post a picture of your middle finger instead. Or maybe a selfie of you just grabbing your balls. That's what I would have done. Now that I think about it, that definitely would have been the way to go. As soon as I saw that, I would have just been like, "Damn. Respect."

    Yeah, so that's all I've got. I never would have paid a single penny for this game, had I known that I would have to pay again to access the best parts of the game. It's some dishonest and underhanded stuff that you all did. But here's the thing - you only get to do it once, because I'll never buy another game from you bunch of weasels again in my life.

I just turned on my projector 24 hours after the patch was supposed to be done with and it won't let me play single player, it says it must be online. Why? Because they want to collect stats on my play and sell to me like a casino.

Think about that: You are getting played on both sides here.

    Then you have the roulette which is a prize you receive after doing something, and it's nearly always the minimum prize allotment. Again, this is all carefully constructed to make you as a player want to stick around and SPEND MORE MONEY. If this game was free to play I wouldn't be writing this review, I'd be playing it. Instead I paid $90 for a launch limited edition version because I believed in this game, I really thought polyphony digital wasn't going to nerf and gimp it. It seems I was wrong. This is very sad.

    I hope they catch so much heat for it that they stop ripping us off but let's be honest: Money talks. They are making their decision. I promise to never invest a penny in any microtransaction on the Sony platform.    … Expand

    From my perspective, I am a massive fan of GT games of the past but after a few weeks of GT7 I have completed all the single player mode and Iv basically stopped playing anymore as my only reasonable option for driving the cars I would like to is to spend hundreds of dollars of my actual money, Im not gunna do some dumb races hundreds of times to earn money. When I play GT games I eitherFrom my perspective, I am a massive fan of GT games of the past but after a few weeks of GT7 I have completed all the single player mode and Iv basically stopped playing anymore as my only reasonable option for driving the cars I would like to is to spend hundreds of dollars of my actual money, Im not gunna do some dumb races hundreds of times to earn money. When I play GT games I either play online or do time trials in single player mode which either earn you literal pocket change or non at all. So that means I could play GT7 every day for a few hours and never be able to buy a couple sets of racing tires let alone a $18,500,000 car. I can’t believe how scummy this game is… I was gunna buy a newer racing wheel and a PS5 (been playing on a ps4 pro) but holy cow thank god I didn’t I would be absolutely livid. Turning on this game just makes me mad.

    Games that require an immense amount of grinding or real currency to "earn" or unlock content are malicious and manipulative by design. I've been a long time Gran Turismo fan, but no more. This is beyond disgusting and I refuse to support the developers due to these design choices.

    Absolute crap. I regret buying this game, and the PS5 to play it. The so-called microtransactions aren't "micro" in any sense of the word. The first hour of gameplay is filled with un-skippable garbage that sets the mood for the rest of the experience.

I'm on a PS4 so I know I'm not getting the "top tier" graphics but I still see a big problem. The problem has existed since GT Prolog, "SHADOWS"... they are horrible!!! Although that's not the biggest issue I have with GT7, the obvious push and nurfs of credits towards trying to squeeze more and more money out of the wallets of ayers who bought this game is insulting. Gaming has been my main hobby for 30+ years, and I have never wanted a game refund, until now. I have deleted the game before. Thanks for nothing Polyphony.

    Game is unplayable offline. Disappointing extended maintenance. New patch is a spit in the face. Clear cash grab. Car prices are increased and race earnings are decreased making the game unsatisfying and almost unplayable for fans who enjoy the cars.

It was fun to win the roadster, but this time I'm disappointed that there is less content that can be played offline on the premise of online. It would be nice to add a car with DLC in a full-price game, but I feel that the credit charge is a little overkill.     I can confidently say that GT7 has improved in all aspects from GT Sport. Basic car physics has become more realistic yet playable for beginners, brought back the traditional progression with a little sprinkle of stories, and kept all functionality that was in GTSport and previous numbering titles.     Some people complain that few Legend cars particularly the Sauber C9, Porsche 917k, and the McLaren F1 requires over 3000 hours of grinding to buy or spend $200 on MTX. To be honest, the quality of those cars are far inferior than other sim titles like Project Cars or Assetto Corsa. And those cars aren't necessary to play in any mode. GT7 exclusive cars such as Vison Granturismo and millenial cars are still affordable after the updates. So the argument of inability to buy expensive cars are not really an issue for race gamers like me.

    What annoys me the most is that PD or Sony doesn't compensate any credits or other rewards after taking so much time on maintenance. They need to realize that we payed 90ish to get the game and pay extra for PS Plus. People focus on the MTX part too much but MTX is just an option in the game. To be fair to PD, the game is worth 9/10. I put 7 because of taking too much time on maintenance and not giving any compensation    … Expand

    I love the gameplay, but really. For $100 the newest cars are from 2017? Gran Turismo 7 can be so much better than that.. They also deceived their customers by making credit payouts abysmal. It'll take me 20+ hours of constant 100% clean racing to buy ONE legacy car... but, oh wait! You can just buy $40 worth of credits to buy the McLaren F1 you want on a video game you already spent $100I love the gameplay, but really. For $100 the newest cars are from 2017?     Base gameplay is expectedly great, but severally disappointed by the cynical, anti-consumer MTX system bogging down progression. This is completely shameful of Sony to implement such as egregious system in a $70 game. I’ve bought every 1st party Sony game on PS5 so far at $70. No more. Sony doesn’t deserve the support unless they pull a complete reversal on this.

    I spend tons hours on GT4 and GT5, Bought a PS4 pro solely for this game and pre-order it, now all I can do is play half hour everyday running circles hoping daily roulette can drop something other than minimum credits. it's a great game but greedy ruined GT's 25 years reputation.

    1. After copying the game data from the disc, it needs an additional 6 hours to complete the download (I don't know what it is downloading, this is worst than playing games on a PC)
    2. This game is always online. Only found this out after the pre-order. Thinking this doesn't matter but then the stupid 1.07/1.08 maintenance kicked in and I was not able to play the game for more than 24 hours. 24 hours! No joke! I work in the IT industry and with 24 hours I can spin up the whole IT infrastructure via IaC...
    3. The games in this car is very expensive! Kazunori says want to simulate real life pricing. Hello? I am playing a game and the reason why I want to play this game is so that I can run away from real life. Why the hell would you want to simulate real life? I am ESCAPING from life, that's why I play games!
    4. Kazunori and Polyphony Digital did not address the concerns raised by so many people due to the maintenance and how they make the game more grindy. I have a life, I work, I have a family to take care of, I don't have time to sit on my bum for 4-5 hours a day just to grind. This makes me feel that the person/dept that approves this is very arrogant and stupid, or stupidly arrogant and I pity the workers that are working for you. Please resign to make their lives better.
    5. Microtransactions to buy credits. This game was launched at a premium price and I pay premium price for it. If this game is Free, then I don't mind the MTX... You are not Asphalt 9, you are GRAN TURISMO, all your hardwork and reputation that you have build in the past 25 years go down the drain with a single update. Kudos for your stupidity. As a Japanese says - Bakayaro.

    The game had a maintenance when it tried to push patch 1.07 and promised 2 hours of downtime. That downtime was dragged for over 24 hours without prompt updates from Polyphony Digital or Kazunori Yamauchi. The worse is during this time, nothing is playable, not even the music part (it doesn't save my progress during the downtime). I work in the IT side of things. If I have a server down for 15 minutes and all my services are down (just like the case of GT7), it would directly lead to a severity 1 issue with 1 hour to fix that server as soon as possible. It baffles me that there they didn't even try to roll back the patch to 1.06 but proceeded to come out with patch 1.08 anyway.

    I give it a 0 for wasting my money, wasting my time, and not apologizing sincerely.    … Expand

That means, if you enter a race and it’s raining and you don’t have rain tires, you must exit the race all the way to the main menu in order to buy the tires for that vehicle. Once you go back in however, it may not be raining and you just wasted $20K. This sucks more as you’ll most likely only win $10K in winnings. The payouts for races are too low. It cost $100Ks to fully upgrade a vehicle. You’ll need to upgrade them because you’ll never win starting 40 seconds back from the leader. So once you’ve put all this money into a vehicle you’ll prob never use it again because you’ll need a different vehicle. Oh yea, you can sell the car for cash either so get your credit card out. Polyphony Digital squandered an opportunity to blow our socks off. It’s great to play once you’re in a race I must say but the overall experience is disappointing and mediocre at best. While Mr Yamauchi said "I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again."

    Take Honda, Mazda, Audi and Ferrari cars as example. They have 45 cars, total value is 28,352,040, comes to an average of 630,045 each car. Let's say there are 420 cars? Then a total value of 264,617,040. A 4-minute Goodwood used to give 35,000 cr, simple math, thats 7561 Goodwood race wins = 30,244 minutes = 504 hours. With the new payout (12,000 cr), thats 22,052 Goodwood race wins = 88,208 minutes = 1,470 hours. (I triple checked my math)

    But don't forget the average value of 630,045 is not accurate at all, there are tons of cars north of 1,000,000 cr and did you see a McLaren F1 '94 was 18,500,000?
    (I did not account for the car upgrades which is pretty pricy in some sense)

And these micro transactions were added straight after the game had been reviewed!!! So much hype and potential but this game ends up as being a bit of a scam really.     Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
