    Not exactly what I was expecting. Very linear, mobs simple, gear meh, crafting system... nothing really there. Abilities meh no depth really. No party system.. this is my biggest gripe I loved having my party members in the past games. I enjoyed the story and the MC but the game just kinda left me feeling Meh..

    Primero lo bueno: La música. Ahora lo malo: el resto, un juego generico Hack and slash muy facil.. lejos de lo que puede ser un Devil May Cry o Bayonetta en dificultad. Muy casual... y todo generico. No aporta nada al género.. además que dejó de ser un ''RPG'' para lo que es la saga FF... esto no es un real FF... solo utilizaron el número para que la gente lo comprara...en fin.

    Action combat is good, cinematic QTE is great but that's all. The other aspects of the game feel so rough. Side quests with ! is tedious. Just sticked with those hv + on them.

    In short, it's a fun action game with a touch of rpg and long story. But, it reli fail to deliver a well rounded Rpg experience. 2/10 one for combat and other other for cinematic Ekions fights.    … Expand

    The scenario was good until the middle part, but the scenario afterward was trash. Especially the scenario, direction, and combat in the final battle were garbage. I rate it 2

    This isn’t the best FF game? Gtfo, if you wouldn’t think that FF4 or FF6 (arguably some of the best in the series) wouldn’t be 1000x better remade into this play style and quest design, you are insane.

    This game is absolutely phenomenal, and everything that I could ever possibly want from a Final Fantasy Game! My expectations were already high, but this game has exceeded all of them in the best of ways. Easily the greatest game I’ve played in 2023, and well, one of the best games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. I’m about 5 hours into the main story, and I can’t wait to see whatThis game is absolutely phenomenal, and everything that I could ever possibly want from a Final Fantasy Game!     Game keeps getting better I'm semi late maybe 25+ in and it's great. Asuras wrath combat combined with game of thrones story is what this feels like. My pick for game of the year

    One of the cons - early game the linear feel to it doesn't feel great but expands and gets much better. That was my biggest gripe a couple hours in.

    The game's climax was a masterstroke – unexpected, disorienting, and profoundly moving. It was the kind of twist that hits you in the gut and makes you question everything you thought you knew, sending you back through previous scenes with fresh eyes.

    Gameplay was immersive and challenging, marked with minor glitches that will undoubtedly be smoothed out. These tiny flaws, though usually bothersome, were dwarfed by the game's overall excellence and immersion.     I understand people are upset about the transition away from turn based and i think i actually like the combat of crisis core and ff7 remake a little more as its like a hybrid but this is still really fun as you unlock more abilities. There are different ways to fight if you pay attention and i like that they have accessories to make it easier for those that need them.     Always liked the final fantasy games growing up. 10 being my favourite... for Blitzball. But this just didn't feel like FF to me. It's like they had enough of what made the series great and half assed it. Maybe it'll grow on me but I doubt it.

    El juego me está gustando, pero sinceramente este nuevo motor que han desarrollado no da la talla y a la vista está.
    Del modo rendimiento no voy a decir nada es una tomadura de pelo y se nota que no han invertido tiempo en el.
    El modo calidad, bueno realmente noto que en ocasiones no va a 30 FPS, el Blur y el desenfoque lo encuentro exagerado y está haciendo que no pueda disfrutar 100% del    El juego me está gustando, pero sinceramente este nuevo motor que han desarrollado no da la talla y a la vista está.

I’m someone who will scour every new area, all the corners accessible, taking everything in. You can feel the passion put in just simply by playing.     For example, the world building and environments are great. You see a town/place and it feels lived in, the people actually feel human and there's a veritable amount of lore/extra stuff to find out as you wonder around. They clearly planned this out to not feel generic and it shows. There are linear parts BUT you can explore larger areas to your heart's content. Yes yes, the side quests there are a few and they aren't Witcher 3 style quests (at least so far) but they are incredibly voice acted and add a lot to the lore/story. You learn about the world through these and there are some interesting tidbits thrown in.

    I feel like a large amount of people will love this, I feel like it will be judged unfairly based on what people wanted it to be but go into it with a fresh face not expecting the old, this is Final Fantasy and to me I am having a blast. We have been blessed by the Mothercrystals folks go and enjoy it!    … Expand

    This game is the absolute best game out on PlayStation, it definitely brings you to very much engaging experience, and lastly the rest of the negative reviews are absolutely unwarranted because 80% of them are xboxbots or are people that simply can’t accept how amazing this mainline ff game truly has become.

    I got my peak FF vibes back, you can see the amount of work behind this... this game is incredible!! The only negatives: sidequests kinda repetitive and boring, framerate mode sucks, but dear god... the eikon fights come up for it a million times. Well done yoshi P! Don't mind if you direct this stuff until FF20

    Yes you can enjoy both FF 16 , Diablo 4 and Zelda ,they are all awesome games in their own right . This game is awesome , it is worth every penny and the developers spent countless hours of sweat and hard work for our enjoyment.

Sadly this game went in a different direction and I didn't like it. The graphics are alright, but it's better to play it in fidelity mode. Performance mode drops to high 20s which is unacceptable.It's a mediocre action game. Not bad but nothing special either. It falls flat where it matters though, hence my score. The character development is in depth and leaves me hungry for more backstory on each character I encounter. And, if the game is played in Frame rate mode I don’t see the drops. I strongly recommend this game, if you want a gripping tale of self discovery, revenge, and high stakes adventure.     Don't listen to the review bombing. This is one of the best game I have played in the series. Best way to describe it is GOT on steroids.     I’ve been playing the final fantasy games since I was a kid. I am definitely a die hard fan. 13 and 15 fell short for me, and I was going into this one cautiously optimistic since Yoshi P was a part of it. I am definitely not disappointed! I love this game, the story is amazing, the combat is so much fun, especially after getting more abilities. 10/10 for sure!

O jogo pra mim poderia ter mais interação do grupo no combate, como ataques combinados iguais ao da DLC de ff7 rmk.     This game needed an 18 rating. It allows it complete freedom over a more adult and visceral story. The heavy influence of 'Game of Thrones' in the politics, and 'Attack on Titan' in the colossus level bosses, shows how much care and dedication went into this game. Gameplay-wise it's definitely a different tone for a Final Fantasy game, but the story is very much in-line with what the fanbase knows and loves as the epic that is 'Final Fantasy'. The game delivers, there's no doubt about that. It's undoubtedly one of the best games of the year, and very much a contender in the running for GOTY. The adult themes are a blessing because it allows the game to actually tell a more human story. War, sex, politics, slavery, deceit, and death. Soldiers fighting wars for their nations while the Eikons, superpowers akin to nuclear weapons, take to the battlefield devastating everything in their wake. It's a refreshing take on how world-shatteringly destructive Eikon-possed humans can be when used to alter the tides of war.    … Expand

    The story is INCREDIBLE. The graphics are INCREDIBLE. And the combat is legitimately fun. If you play this game with no expectations of what it should or shouldn't be, you'll enjoy yourself. Run the game at 30 FPS in graphics mode, no issues for me.

Exciting gameplay with depth and tons of expression coupled with well written and the least convoluted FF story so far are its two most standout features. However, its other featuresFF 16 proves to be a game that learned from its predecessors.     This is a fantastic action game with some of the best spectacle I've seen since GOW 3 and some of the best voice acting I've heard since the Witcher 3? The main character especially. The music is OST of the Year tier.

    -Sidequest are chores I don't mind too much, I'm sure most would hate -story is solid and suspenseful (so far) -combat is made for experimenting, as simple as it is, at first -graphics are AMAZING Highly recommend for action gamers and people who have held off Final Fantasy since 10, it's definitely worth checking out.

    Im a long time FF fan and i love this game. After the intro is a bit of a slow burn with hallway corridors but it opens up afterwards similar to FF12. The writing is phantastic. I wish there would be more RPG elements but considering how great everything else is, its just a small qualm. If you dont like story driven games with a ton of cutscenes, its not for you but it should be expectedIm a long time FF fan and i love this game.     As someone with 35 years of gaming experience, I can confidently say that Final Fantasy 16 is not only the worst in the series but falls far below the average quality of similar games. In the 20 hours of gameplay I've experienced, I can only describe it as dull and agonizing. It requires deep breaths and self-encouragement just to hold onto the DualSense controller. This game is an exceptionally boring and uninteresting RPG from a major game developer.

    The weapon and equipment system feels superficial and pointless. Any new weapon that appears only provides a permanent +5 attack boost without changing the attack style, making them indistinguishable. The repetitive tasks for forging materials are uninspired and offer no significant rewards.

    The team system lacks presence and interactivity. The characters have monotonous attire and limited attack styles. The maps or level designs are small and uninteresting. It's shocking to discover that even at 60% progress, there are only two area maps available.

    The variety of enemies is extremely lacking. The bestiary lists only 47 non-playable creatures, including 15 eikons, 1 owl from cutscenes, 2 Chocobos, and the rest being various types of enemies and bosses. In actual gameplay, only encountering around ten different enemy types on the maps is disheartening.

    All side quests involve simply traveling from point A to point B to either defeat enemies or engage in dialogue. They are repetitive and lack creativity. The material rewards obtained upon completion are meaningless since new weapons and upgrades are only obtained through story progression, making the rewards feel insulting.

    If I were to describe it, Final Fantasy 16 can be seen as a realistic version of "Tales of Arise" without an equipment, companion, and skill system, with severely reduced maps and enemy variety.

    As someone who has reached a mature age and has been gaming for 35 years, I have learned not to be driven solely by emotions. I have been able to appreciate controversial titles such as The Last of Us Part II, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy 13, and Final Fantasy 15, finding the positives in each of them. However, this time, Final Fantasy 16 has brought me nothing but agony. Skipping through dialogues quickly has become the norm, and now I can only hope that my patience will allow me to complete the game.    … Expand

    Anyone who rates this game a 0 is a troll. This is an amazing game with some flaws that don't really hinder the game. If you're an old school FF fan, then it might not be for you. But if you like action and a good story, then it's perfect. This game is no less than a 7. It still oozes AAA quality. I think it's perfect for me. It won't be for everyone. But it's no way a 0-6

    This game is so much fun and i love the combat system in this game. Although it may be different than normal Final fantasy battle system, the combat is so immersive and the story is amazing.

    A wonderful game with dark story and strong characters. Final Fantasy XVI has changed its original formula but with success, full packed with action, emotion and magic, a must play. I was engulfed in the game since the very beginning and I am eager to go back to its world. Thanks Square for this game.

    Pros: + Loved the main characters design, especially Cid, they are more mature and relatable than previous FF titles + Scenery is beautiful, there is alot of cinematic moments when you’re just strolling around or fighting + Combat is flashy and beautiful + Eikon fights are really well done and never get boring    Game is a one of this year’s biggest disappointments, but it got some perks:

    - The game is too easy and not challenging at all even if you play on action-focused and without timely accessories, you never feel you’re going to die and you’ll never see the game over screen and even if you do you’ll get go back to where you left the Boss HP and with more pots than you had before. This is my main gripe with the game and it’s such a shame when the combat system is fun.

    - World is empty and side characters/content/npcs/quests are soulless , I don’t mind a semi linear world when it’s done well (God of War), but this game had no excuse for half-a**ing this when it’s not an open world.

    - Story starts slow,then picks up again and you’d think it’s going to be great but falls off again    … Expand

    Easily one of the best and one of my favorite mainline entries since ffx and ffxii, it’s funny the way people are critiquing this game when almost every FF has had its differences and has evolved over time. I personally think it’s a beautiful step in the right direction and the future of jrpg gaming

    First FF game I've ever played and it's sold me into the series. The graphics, the story, the characters are all top notch! Although I don't think it'll win GOTY (Zelda will) mark my words, it'll get a nomination!

    Only halfway through so far and it's for sure the best final fantasy game I've ever played. The story so far is amazing, the graphics are amazing, and I think clive is a great protagonist.

Can’t give this a full 10 due to some issues with performance mode and slight dip in graphics since FFXV. I do think horizon zero dawn has one of the best artistic styles and graphics out their so maybe they need to look into doing something like that. However, gameplay story so far and overall feel is fanatastic. Seeing the summons in action like this brings back so many memories but also brings new feelings to the forefront. Love this game so far. Thank you for combining my two favourite ps2 games final fantasy x and devil may cry to make this beauty.… Expand

The battles, when I started I was like "well, it's OK", then I battled the first boss, i just thought "Holy cow, wtf was that", everything it's just epic. Song, scenario, story, actors.     RPG elements are a little undercooked but not so much that it comes off as neglected. It's a action combat game with RPG elements, not a RPG with action combat elements. Side quests are MMO like but have nice dialogue and there aren't too many of them. Some side quests are very interesting and get dark. This is easily the best FF since the PS2 era.     Just completed the game after 37h playing and this is the game I was expecting after FFX.
    The story is a masterpiece, the characters are awesome, the world looks beautiful, the new combat fits perfect for this generation, the whole game is incredible.
    This XVI has become my favourite game of the series.

    As someone who’s been playing FF games since the first one came out on NES in the West, I can easily say that I love this game. While it IS a complete departure from the older games I find the combat addictive and fun. The characters and story are the main reason for my 10 score. I haven’t been this engaged in a game since Red Dead Redemption 2.

The combat was really fun, launching enemies up with Torgol, giving the enemies a boot and precision dodges. The Eikon battles blew me out of the water and were quite beautiful that i’d even take some screenshots. The world building is amazing, side-quest are really involved and provide great additional lore to the game. I laughed and cried during this rollercoaster of a game. I gave this game a ten, as I had so much fun and have never been so emotional invested in a way this game made me :)… Expand

Not to mention during this generation I expected the graphics to look better considering we’re at the peak of this generation. The graphics were “meh” and look PS4ish.     This game may not play like a traditional RPG, but the game is epic on so many levels.
    The eikon fights are a spectacular. Highly recommend this game if you own a PS5.

    Amazing game, the gameplay is a complete departure from older entries but it is for the better ! An amazing action rpg with stunning visuals amazing cinematics and the story is great.     I think it's the best Final Fantasy ever. A great plot and gameplay I hope to see more jrpgs like this. The old Final Fantasy's community is toxic, it doesn't matter what they think. Final Fantasy XVI is amazing. Congrats to Square Enix!

Look, if the thing that makes a final fantasy for you is not the plot, or the characters, or the writing, or anything else but its the fact it has turn based combat and thats all that matters then this is not the final fantasy for you. But if the thing thats most important for you is the story, The characters, the world, the themes, then this is the most "final fantasy" the series has been since the ps2 era. Any and all of the negative reviews ate gonna tell you the fact its action instead of turn based and the fact that *some* of the sidequests aren't quite at the quality of most witcher 3 sidequests mean its bad and I'm here to tell you those people don't understand what this franchise was always trying to be. Its good action combat if thats you're thing but if like me the gameplay was never the main draw of Final Fantasy and it was the plot, the characters, the themes of hope and friendship that drew you in, then this is the best single player final fantasy since the golden age and you owe it to yourself to give it a chance!… Expand

If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.
