    Please for the love of god play the demo first and dont let them tell you that it is any different than that and then you make your decision whether you want to play a movie or a game. This is literally point A to point B there is not even an effort to tell you otherwise. The story is great but the game is a INTERACTIVE MOVIE please dont waste your 80 FREAKING DOLLARS on this unless youPlease for the love of god play the demo first and dont let them tell you that it is any different than that and then you make your decision whether you want to play a movie or a game.     Great game. Would rate a 9 if not for review bombing. Side quests in the first half are mostly mediocre, and the pacing could be better, but the story and gameplay are great.

    Everything about this game has been great. Story, VA, music, etc. The combat is extremely riveting & fun to find all the different combination/chains. If I were to have one complaint it would be the lack of a mini map, but that's me being nitpicky. Seriously, I think this is one of the best installments to date!

    Caveat - there may well be a lot of people new to final fantasy or even some fans who can find the fun in this game and judge it for what it is. I, however, can't. I am judging it on what it is not. Normally I'd suggest not to do this and to judge something on its own merit. The difference here is this game is called final fantasy 16.     And it's biggest problem is the patronising lip service it's trying to show it's older fans. If this game scrapped the shallow and awful character upgrade system and concentrated on being an action game with no rpg elements at all it may have been better. I'll end with this. For those of use who loved final fantasy and adored the depth of its upgrade systems and strategical pseudo-turned based combat, this game is not for you. Love to you all    … Expand

    Incredible game - best FF since X. And I’ve been playing the series my whole life. The story and music alone make it top tier. Annoyed at the stupid review bombing on here - this is one of the best games of the year, easily.

When I seen the game was 15 dollars CAD more then Elden ring I thought the game must be huge with great FPS but I was wrong. It's not a rpg it's a game with a bunch of small stages and a boss. Actually more watching a movie and you get to play the action scenes. Elden ring has 20 times more equipment, items, customization, exploration and a combat that will keep engaged. This game got no exploration. Just because you go 5 second to the left or to the right of the beaten path is not exploration. Most times you only find 3 gil for exploring. Hav'nt finished the game but it says I'm 58 percent finished. I died once and that was due not paying attention to my health because I still had full potions. It's a good game for what it is but in no way should of it been 15 dollars more then Elden ring. It's ridiculous. It's just not that special to be the most expensive triple A base game version. I still can't believe they never added any extra secret dungeons or super bosses to test your skills. With all the money there charging for such a small world I expected more… Expand

However, they suffered with this issue much more than FFXVI. They have vast open worlds with plenty of treasure chests to unlock, yet all these chests offer are crafting materials and breakable equipment. Where's the 'meaningful' reward?

    Regarding side quests, Final Fantasy as a series always gets criticism for its lack of substance. I personally didn't mind them in this game though. They added depth to side characters and conveyed aspects of the lore in a more engaging way. They are comparable to those in Diablo IV, which again, I didn't mind.

    The story here is one of Final Fantasy's best. The characters are well thought out and have incredible depth. The combat is exhilarating. I can't for the life of me understand why so called 'Final Fantasy fans' want the same game over and over again. The thought of yet another AAA series going in the same direction as Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty and FIFA should be enough to give any serious gamer nightmares.

    My only real critique for FFXVI is the lack of RPG-ness. Fundamentally it's an action game. It leans heavily into that genre, too much I would say.    … Expand

    There is a clear demarcation between games and movies. Gameplay is the most important part of a game, accounting for about 60% of the score, while external graphics and music can only score 40% at most. These 3 points are for cutscenes and animations.The gameplay is terrible, I give 0 points.

    For long final fantasy fan I think this game is amazing.

    For some FF "Fans" who put low score I believe whatever SE try to do you will always give 0 because they never tired to complaints, futuristic world (we don't need this futuristic **** it's not FF), Turn based RPG (Turn based is outdated, give us more freedom and actions), more actions (this things is crap we want turn based RPG), World map like FF XV (bloody vacant world, why you give us crap like this), wide area to explore but not world map (bloody hell this one is corridor what are you doing developers?)

    It brings the magic back to final fantasy. Combat is amazing and so is the story. Love the character development and the progression though the big zones. This final fantasy feels darker than others with the tone of the story and the gravity of the situation. Enjoy this masterpiece.

    Great game but they promised heavy inspiration from FFT and FFXII. But the only elements from those games is the shared universe. No job system, no real gear diversity, no meaningful ability point allocation. This is not an RPG in the sense that you cannot really build your own flavor of character. It's a cool action game that feels pretty but shallow.

The story is very well done and really captivating. The side quests feel a bit MMO style to me, which is not great but they pick up towards the middle of the game and really help with world building. The game is not open world, but does a good job breaking the zones apart in a way that doesn’t feel tight, and doesn’t really reward exploration which I feel they could have done a better job at. Overall, it’s a great game with tons of fun elements that give final fantasy fans something to be excited about. I would give this game a 9/10 as a solid new installment in the final fantasy series, they continue to do what everyone loves and give us a fresh take on the series. I rated it a 10 here specifically to offset some of the miserable, insufferable people who gave “0”s to a game that was clearly developed with a lot of passion and love.     The game is everything I dreamed of. Absolutely great story, nice gameplay (combat) and wonderful artstyl. It's a true Masterpiece! Furthermore I'm a big FF fan and all I can say is: It's definitely a real Final Fantasy game! Definitely the best game in 2023 so far. I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to be my personal GOTY.

Open world exploration and side guest are the only thing holding the game back but it makes up for it with all the times you find yourself staring at your screen going " Damn that just happened!"
    Now any true gamer will tell you graphics are a nice feature to a game but with a pour story and boring dull characters it doesn't matter how good it looks. I mostly started with the Final Fantasy series back on original Playstation, and I personally enjoy the switch to a more action based combat.     I've played almost every main final fantasy game. 1-16. Only one I've missed was 11. And not only as a huge final fantasy fan but as a huge gamer as well I've got to say this is an epic game. The eikon battles are truly a thing of beauty!.

O jogo é bom para quem vai so zerar uma vez, já para quem vai se aprofundar no game é bom ter ciência dos problemas, eu recomendo fortemente que comprem o jogo daqui a seis meses numa promoção, caso esteja no hype pela história, recomendo ver pelo youtube, ele não chega a valer tanto 300 Reais ou 70 Dólares como um Elden Ring ou um Final Fantasy VII Remake.… Expand

    As a fan of almost every final fantasy game I will say that I love final fantasy 16 the story is great the combat is fantastic and the world is beautiful. It is definitely pretty linear but that doesn't make a game bad.

    One of the greatest game I ever played. The story is fascinating, as long as one immerses oneself in it, thanks to the tools and characters in the game (Active Time Lore, Tomes, Viviane). I've experienced the most emotional moments of my life in a video game. The gameplay gets richer as the adventure progresses, which means you never get bored.

    I haven't finished the game yet, but I absolutely LOVE the game ao far. I think the motion capture and graphics are beautiful. The world is bleak, but it is expected and told why throughout the story. I think this is one of their best games yet

    Turn-based is never going to be a thing again unless you buy games like Fire Emblem. Even FFVII-Remake is not turned based and is technically not open world either. Square Enix used to release a good portion of there games as a Playstation exclusive until FFXIII.

    Don't listen to the negative reviews trying to bring down this game for silly reasons.     Everything about this game hits the mark of what I personally was hoping from the game. The music, set pieces and graphics are all standout and some of the best any video game has to offer.

    The game's combat is fun, and the eikon fight is awesome.
    But the RPG elements of the game is very little, which makes me very dissatisfied, and the game play is almost always fighting, quite monotonous.
    Finally, I don't like BE, I can't accept that Clive is dead, he should be living happily with Jill.

    Is too much just for the ps5 engine. Maybe should be OK in a computer with a good graphic card or for the xbox series X that is absolutely more powerful than ps5.

    It always surprises me how whiney people are. Ignore the review bombs and see the real reviews. The game is amazing and has a great soundtrack. It can now be held as one of my favorite final fantasy games of all time. Yes it’s that good. I know I saw a few people not liking the story, but the story is one of the best in a long time.

    Thankfully, people can still voice their discontent here. It's a small thing without much significance. Just a reality check that "you're not alone", there are still people that see through all the marketing, social influencing, and PR stunts, see the game for what it is.

    But nope, can't have that. PR took over the internet almost entirely. Only some hours later then, PR-defences rolled up, social influencers and "gaming websites" claimed FF16 had been "review bombed" by "haters" and "trolls", standing at 6.8. Users wouldn't share the unanimous glorification of FF16, another "GOTY contender" just like the several dozen hyped games preceding FF16 in 2023. Twitter-crusaders were invited to launch a counterattack in the name of justice, resulting in 10/10-reviews containing one-liners, made by new accounts with no single other review, hyping the last non-glorious score up again.

    Review of Final Fantasy 16: Many other reviews with a low rating perfectly sum up my impressions with the game, stating reasons that are comprehensible and transparent. So I confine myself to a summary: Disregarding the epic cutscenes, all of the core Final Fantasy elements are gone, completely lost, what remains is just smoke and mirrors. They tried to make FF16's story similar to "popular" stories like that of Games of Thrones, aren't even trying to cover it up. Considering gameplay, it's a competent but generic action game without any substance that tries to cater to people who "grew up with FPS and GTA games", as the producers openly stated in an interview, as if people didn't play any other games. Like, you know, if people want to play an action game they could just play a game series that is known for its good action, like Devil May Cry. If people want something similar to Game of Thrones, there's a million other copycats out there. Ironically, with Baldur's Gate 3 they went the opposite direction, made a turn-based copycat out of a great real-time game that you could pause.    … Expand

    The low review scores for this game are moronic. As someone who has tried other FF games and couldn't get into them but still enjoyed what I did get through, this game is still very similar to the ones before. It welcomes newcomers with a simpler combat style and linear story progression other then that it's the same game with swords and magic.

    The game is as expected but I miss the open world. The early side missions are pick this up here and take 10 meters to finish. Maybe leave these out next time.
