    I love this game. One of the best final fantasy of all time. Clive is so badass. Finally the Eikons have the spotlight they deserved. The history is very dark and have many surprises. The combat is fast and furious

    As a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, I can easily say it’s one of the best game I’ve played so far.
    The characters are endearing and touching, the story is incredible with breathtaking cutscenes. The gameplay is really fun to play. Can’t even remember the last time I had so much fun while playing and was so invested in a game.
    Also there’s many accessibility options and in-game help    As a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, I can easily say it’s one of the best game I’ve played so far.

    Also there’s many accessibility options and in-game help available to facilitate the experience for people who need it so that everyone can enjoy the game in the best possible way, and it's a good thing to have thought about accessibility in FFXVI because often this is not the case in other games.

    An absolutely amazing game that has a very Game of Thrones feel to it. Storyline is well written and the combat and boss battles are really well done. Looks fantastic too.

    Giving it a 10 is ridiculous the character models are so bad for PS5 it’s laughable as is the performance. I like the new mature theme of the story but the combat sucks and the animations/effects are way too exaggerated and flashy all over the screen. Another mediocre Final Fantasy after the last good one being X

    One of the best FF games out there, a welcome change has been made to the combat, one where reflex and reaction are more important for survival.

    The story is one of the darker stories to grace a mainline FF, there’s plenty of gruesome deaths and other things to earn the game that M rating. The OST shines, one of the best in an FF since Nobuo Uematsu was responsible for the compositions.    One of the best FF games out there, a welcome change has been made to the combat, one where reflex and reaction are more important for survival.

    The graphics are good, the performance mode needs some improvement as there are noticeable dips in the frames, however the frame pacing makes them tolerable and they’re not affecting the combat at all which is important.

    It’s unfair this game is getting undeservedly bad reviews. I understand everyone has differing opinions, but many of the sub 7 reviews are simply review bombing because of console wars et al. I am loving this new style of FF and really appreciate the more focused approach on its story. For someone that just doesn’t have the time nor the attention these days to put 50+ hours into games justIt’s unfair this game is getting undeservedly bad reviews. For someone that just doesn’t have the time nor the attention these days to put 50+ hours into games just for exploration alone, this has been a breath of fresh air. Graphics are top notch, music and sound is brilliant and combat is extremely fun and addictive. Getting to know these characters more and more and how the story is evolving is a joy. Really hoping these fake reviews stop soon and something Metacritic can eventually remedy. All in all, another fantastic game this year, it’s great to be a true gamer and not a fanboy, with an already growing list of potential GOTY’s.… Expand

    Final Fantasy 16 is the game I needed but didn't get completely. Story is damn good and interesting every second. The new combat system is glorious and a lot of fun. Characters are well written and fit perfectly. I love that the world is again broken up into linear sections which not only allows for nicer areas but doesn't feel as cluttered as in FFXV. I don't know what i would recommend to people if they want to have a next gen experience that in quality mode you have 4k(upscaled) and 30fps that is not next gen, in performance mode you have 1080p(but very often 720p) and 35-60fps that is too no Next Gen I'm really disappointed and I'm starting to wonder if the developers want to make our hobby bad for us.… Expand

    Excellent game. Combat is fast-paced and exciting— definitely a step up from previous entries. Voice acting is great and the character design and environments are beautiful. You can definitely see the inspiration from FFXIV in the game, especially in battle and it makes it familiar but also exciting. The writing in this game is incredible and heartfelt. It has been a while since I was emotionally involved in a game like I was in this one. The Graphics: people can get angry all you want about this game ,but the visuals are just amazing. Can you tell me a game ever where as you are fighting with Ifrit then the ground itself shakes and trees burn to ash when you touch them? Cause I never have ever. The world is gorgeous to behold and there where times you just wanted to stop and look around. The dungeons in the game where amazing and melted directly into the storyline and events of the game and that was fantastic. The effects where great the fighting felt amazing and fluent. I was blown away. 4. The combat: The game is not turn based and that is ok. I felt the game had a ton of variety. You had to choose what abilities to use. You had Eikon abilities you have to match together to for your play style. You had to change between them to make the play styles work better together. There was alot going on but it was fast, fun, and fluent. Then you have the Eikon battles which are the most incredible fun thing I have ever done.

    Overall: The only reason I don't give this game a 10 is because it's not fully perfect, but it is about as close to perfect as you can get. When games come out not running and looking like **** It is very nice to have a game like final fantasy 16 come out that shows you why you love video games in the first place. Because they are engaging and fun... Or they should be. Final Fantasy 16 is engaging, fun, and have a great story line and music. This is my Game of the Year.    … Expand

Este es un hecho objetivo, puede que no te guste ese hecho, pero sigue siendo un hecho. Muy probablemente GOTY, a menos que Spider-Man 2 haga algo increíble.     10/10 Demo is great, story is great, the combat is great.
    This game is really enjoyable if people actually gave it a chance instead of trying to gate keep and bash on the game before even trying it.

    This is as much of a Final Fantasy game as any other. Stop calling your selves a FF fan if all you know how to complain about is that it's not a turn base. Turn base doesn't make final fantasy The Lore does. Also it's a Final Fantasy game as long as the creators says so. Stop gate keeping.    … Expand

    Even if the fighting was feeling strange at first and the story won’t hold the fast pace of the demo this feels like FF and is now my ne favorite part. i am a fan of the old ones and this one reminded me of FF5.

    At its peak in moments when the rhythm between cutscenes and gameplay is managed at its best, when the perfect music kick in and the art direction hits you final fantasy 16 can be a masterpiece... Unfortunately when you're outside from these moments it can be seen that the game is based on a rather old gamedesign structure.. the sidequests are terrible at the Mmorpg level, the explorationAt its peak in moments when the rhythm between cutscenes and gameplay is managed at its best, when the perfect music kick in and the art direction hits you final fantasy 16 can be a masterpiece... I feel like the makers went above and beyond and met my expectations and exceeded. Clive and companions have excellent voice work.     Very good game, amazing story that pulls you in and engaging combat. Not perfect though (minimal RPG elements, limited exploring, side quests a bit dull, combat can feel a bit button mashing), but overall gameplay, story and combat mechanics overshadows its flaws.

    One of the best games for this year. Game of the year contender as well.

    If you are invested in the story like me, this game is a banger. I would play/watch the demo first before considering buying this game, so you have an understanding if the gameplay mechanic and the story are for you.
    The story and spectacle alone sells me on this game. As a DMC fan the gameplay hooked me in easily.

    In a nutshell, its an incredible game that is a must if you like action/adventure games with a very good combat system. If you are looking for an intense JRPG buy another game, you have many other options available.

    As a long time final fantasy fan I am disappointed in what the franchise has become the last true final fantasy was X I have played all entries. As for 16 I would say strangers of paradise is more of a final fantasy then this game spells are limited almost non existent the gear pool is very limited and the game is ridiculously.     At lot of reviews I'm seeing are giving this game a 10/10 I can only believe they are reviewing this game as standalone new tile and not what Final fantasy truly was.

    Please for the love of God go back to your old roots and they type of game your fans truly loved here's hoping that the rumors are true regarding the remakes of 9 and 10 if this what main line final fantasy games will remain then unfortunately I'm going to have to walk away from the greatest game series of all time    … Expand

    The gameplay: is great and yes it's action combat not turn base (but it's 2023 and turn base games are dead with the exception on mobile or handhelds) Music: good God did they do an amazing job on the music, every score fits the scene perfectly.     PS5 hardware issues: I'll be lying if I don't acknowledge there are a few minor issues due to the hardware limitations, specifically occasional stuttering and the inability to turn off motion blur (but overall these are minor and I won't deduct them from the score because of the unnecessary haters giving it a 0 out of 10)

    It's going to be funny watching the haters cry when FFXVI wins game of the year.    … Expand

    First, the game has so many flaws...
    It was some sexist in it. The female characters aren't well written. Most of them are there to boost the masculine protag. And it is literal, the villainess it's just so boring and bland.     Clive is just a boring protag with almost no grow on personality. Not from when we see him in his teen years or later.
    The lack of diversity and the lack of woman in the game, even strong NPC's that could be woman, they are all men.
    The story is bland and it's just Clive's.
    No party members, they join you sometimes, can't play them or give them orders. Almost no banter between them.
    The music is ok, not the best in the series at all.
    The level design areas are mostly lineal, which I don't care if they weren't boring and didn't have almost nothing to explore.
    The battle system which seems nice, is not a RPG, we knew it was going to be a hack and slash game but it's not even that not even RPG. It's like the failure child between them. In the beggining it's fun but later no.
    Bosses are just sacks of HP for Clive now... not strategy, nothing. Just press 1 button or 2.
    The absence of lipsync for japanese and the rest of lenguages, why???
    Why not add castillian from Spain and only just latam spanish if you have BOTH translated texts?? because spanish from spain texts aren't the same of latam...
    The designs are not so well done but some are ok. In general this game it's not a 10, it's doesn't deserve anything you all say. The best of the game are the Eikons and their battles. Nothing more because even the graphics from FF7R and FF15 are better than this!!

    One of the best in the franchise. My top is now FF7 > FF10 > FF9 > FF16. The story, the combat system, the music, the boss battles are just incredible. There are issues with the pacing like in most of japanese games, but thats all, at least for me. One of the best games of the year for sure and one of the best games in the franchise. Praise the Yoshi-P!

    Honestly I have had trouble putting this game down i've been so invested in the game only putting it down to try 1 game of xdefiant then straight back to it.

    The story is intriguing so much so i was wanting the game in my hands not long after playing the demo last week and when i did the story consistently kept me wanting to continue to play.     The story is intriguing so much so i was wanting the game in my hands not long after playing the demo last week and when i did the story consistently kept me wanting to continue to play.

    The combats great though i cant say much for my ability to dodge

    Right now after playing like 30 hours and reaching lv38 I feel like this game is a 7,5 at this moment. If the port wasn't 720p 30-60fps in performance mode but a steady 60 fps this would be an 8 for me. So this number can still change to 8. If you take all the missions from the arcade mode with only the bounties in some of those open spaces then the game would have been a much better experience. So yeah right now I'm really enjoying the game when it comes to the story parts because those are super epic the other stuff should just be rid off. Also the combat is awesome but I feel like being able to put 4 to 5 eikons on the d pad instead of 3 eikons that you can switch through with l2 would have made the combat experience and depth much better as well as an extra button like to expand the normal moveset. Right now there is depth but doesn't even come close to the greats like dmc5. If they added all that stuff the game would have been a masterpiece but right now it's just a good game.… Expand

    I have been playing Final Fantasy sense the very first one on the NES and have loved them all except 13. This new installment is hands down the best one I have played. The story is gripping, the combat is fluid and fast paced (or slow and Tactical if you choose the story focused option at the beginning of the game) and the quests are typical of an rpg but funny with its puns and tropes.     This is just a light action game with FF14 style, the more you play it, the more boring it becomes, there is really no rpg element and game map exploration in this game, I prefer FF15 over this, If you like JRPG and ARPG, you should play some game like Ys VIII: Tears of Dana instead.

    Someone who has played every single FInal Fantasy I have enjoyed each one in the unique way don't let lovers who review bomb games try and ruin it for you. FF16 is a fresh new take and fully enjoying it, story is amazing and the characters a fleshed out. Could be the one of the best and fun main line titles to come out in years 10/10

    I was amazed at the polish level this demo has just to be a demo and then the demo ends in such a cliffhanger. The story was very focused in want I played and graphics are top notch. And thought that if this demo has this level of gameplay and they not afraid to show it then I’m getting the full game cone tomorrow Then following day I went and bought the game and folks I haven’t stopped playing ever since. I was playing dead island 2 and had to put that game aside completely.

    But all in all it’s a masterpiece of its own
    Graphics are 10/10 and runs smooth every second

    I don’t regret paying full price for it and jumping into Valisthea world. Only downside for me is I have to work Sunday to Sunday and I don’t get enough time to put into it but best guess I’ll have it finished in the next ten days. So …

    You go and if you like ff16 become a fan and support it, I had to come leave a review bc fakers are posting bad reviews and this game deserves none.

    And of course will become a goty contender even if tears end up winning well to me this will be the best to come out in 23’

    A worthy part of the series. The gameplay, the graphics, the storyline are all at a high level. Of course, there are certain flaws, but what game doesn't have them? After all, everyone has their own tastes. I personally am fine with it all.

    I’ve played this game for well over 10 hours now and everything about it is incredible. Honestly it encapsulates how I feel playing final fantasy games. It has a lot of elements that make it final fantasy and as with all FF games we have some new elements and a new story too. It’s just great fun, fantastic visuals, great combat, beautiful story line and it’s everything I had wanted it toI’ve played this game for well over 10 hours now and everything about it is incredible. Honestly it encapsulates how I feel playing final fantasy games. It has a lot of elements that make it final fantasy and as with all FF games we have some new elements and a new story too.     As a long time final fantasy fan I will admit that I wasn't looking forward to the action oriented combat system shown in early trailers however, after having played the demo my opinion was quickly changed and I was excited to jump into the game on launch day.

    Having played roughly 45-50hrs and completing the main quest I would say don’t go into this game with the expectation that this is an rpg. FF16 is a story driven action game with little exploration and very little in the way of loot, crafting and gear. The combat can be engaging but is overall very limited when it comes to your basic attacks. Combat generally consists of hacking and slashing, weaving magic, lunging, dodgeing, priming your weapon for a heavy attack and commanding Torgal. Most basic abilities can be unlocked in the first few hours and doesn’t really deviate as you progress. You will however, obtain and have access to eikon abilities which can change up the pace and provide some variety to combat.

    Unfortunately in the way of enemies you wont find much variety (looking at you big enemy with giant axe) and you will be engaging with many of the enemies in the same way. The mobs are slow and will generally walk circles around you attacking ever so often making for quick work. Boss fights and mini boss fights are attack> dodge>eikon ability>dodge>attack… until they stagger and are eventually defeated. You do get access to a limit break which outputs more damage but it doesn’t add much to the gameplay. Overall the combat is lacking diversity and could have used move variety. In saying that, it is still enjoyable and creating combos is stylish and fun.

    The game lacks a core party and Clive is essentially the only character you will be playing as, characters such as Jill will come and go as non-playable characters in your party to join you on your adventures. I personally would have liked some control over the party, similar to the commands that you can give Torgal as well as gear and accessories for the companions.

    Characters in the game are interesting and mostly fleshed out save a few which appear after a time skip. Clive is a great character and the VA did an amazing job, the same can be said for most VA’s in the game. The graphics are phenomenal and the environments are spectacular with the exception of side quest npc’s. Performance does take a hit as a result of the games fidelity and I would recommend the graphics mode for fps consistency.

    The story is very interesting but prepare to sit through hours of cutscenes. This wasn’t an issues for me personally as I found them enjoyable and engaging. The pacing however, can be very off at times. You will find yourself often entering a new town only to have to find a way to get past a gate and into the next area. By often I mean always. You will always need to find a friend of Cid’s, you will always need to get some kind of crest from them, you will always need to talk to npcs around town and you will always need to kill a few enemies for them. These side quests are obvious padding and in my opinion should have been left outside of the main story. It is very jarring to have just defeated a walking nuke only to run errands for a respected member of a small town.

    Overall its a solid game with a lot to offer including some GOW3 level boss fights so if spectacle is something you enjoy I couldn't recommend this game more. With all my criticisms I still enjoyed the game thoroughly and recommend anyone it looking for a solid action game.    … Expand

    CBU3 has reached back in time and brought back the magic that was a Squaresoft FF with 16.Story, pacing, graphical fidelity, combat, this game looks and feels next gen. The characters have depth and Clive Rosefield is the best FF mainline protagonist since Cloud Strife. Absolute Masterpiece.

    Quality mode is the way to play: It's smooth even if we're talking about 30 fps.

    Regarding the overheating issue, if your PS5 is dusty and encased in a narrow space... well, it's your fault!

    The Final Fantasy basic lore and elements are all there. Music is phenomenal. Combat is freaking epic and insanely fun. I don't understand the few haters who selfishly give these poor scores.     The Final Fantasy basic lore and elements are all there. Music is phenomenal.

    Combat is freaking epic and insanely fun.

    I don't understand the few haters who selfishly give these poor scores. This game truly deserves a 10. It's finally a final fantasy game that has everything a modern final fantasy should have. It's quickly risen to be in my top 3 favorite FF'S and I've played every single main line FF. Please don't be fooled by the whiney people who can't understand how much amazing hard work goes into something this grand.     Simply put, the game is very good. If you're pining for the old ATB system you're out of luck but the combat in XVI is very complex, after playing the demo I replayed DMC 4 to get an idea of what kind of standard I should have for XVI's combat complexity to meet and I can easily say that standard was met. You have analogues for things like Stinger, Snatch, DT, and more including a skillSimply put, the game is very good. If you're pining for the old ATB system you're out of luck but the combat in XVI is very complex, after playing the demo I replayed DMC 4 to get an idea of what kind of standard I should have for XVI's combat complexity to meet and I can easily say that standard was met. You have analogues for things like Stinger, Snatch, DT, and more including a skill that is literally just an animation cancel for combo extension. The actual enemy encounters are good, and especially the boss fights, a number of which did end with Clive having almost no health and no remaining consumable items in my playthrough. The story also has a nice level of quality to it, feeling right at home alongside FF4/5/6 as a lower-tech worldwide journey with a heavy focus on the summons like Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh with an anomalous godlike entity pulling the strings as the villain. The only things I was disappointed with were how minimally interactive most sidequests are and that there was no elemental resistance system, so no reason to use a given Eikon's projectile or abilities over the others. If you only like FF for the turn based RPG style gameplay then you might want to skip this entry but in every other way this is a mainline Final Fantasy, and a good one at that.… Expand

    Final Fantasy XVI is an excellent game in every way. If you're a fan of the series for the stories and characters, you won't go wrong here, and if you've avoided the series for, say, turn-based combat, the sixteenth installment offers the perfect opportunity to get started with this legend of the gaming industry.     New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed, lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
