Seems like Cyberpunk 2077 didn't live up to expectations. I watched some gameplay and nothing looked extremely new or interesting. More like same old, same old. Bough AC Valhalla instead and so far it's really fun. Of course AC Valhalla isn't anything new either, but at least it's fun and less buggy unlike Cyberpunk 2077.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is nice game that takes place in 800s Norway and England. Graphically one of the best of 2020, story is solid, combat is very brutal.

Ubisoft has lots of hits and misses and that's because they make so many games.
But for almost every miss they have at least two hits.
Ubisoft hits : Far Cry 3 (2012) , Far Cry 4 (2014), Watch_Dogs (2014) (PC Version, but PS4/Xbox One versions look decent as well), AC 4: Black Flag, AC Origins (2017), AC Valhalla (2020), Immortals: Fenyx Rising (2020), AC Unity (2014) (PC Version

Ubisoft Fails: The Division (2016), Ghost Recon Breakpoint (2019), Watch Dogs: Legion (2020) If DLC and Online turn out to be REALLY good, it can go to "Decent category, right now it's too bland), Assassin's Creed 3 (2012), Heroes of might and magic VI (2011)

Of course they have more games, but i tried to mention mix of modern and older games. My point stands that they have made some really good and even decent stuff. Valhalla easily belongs to "Ubisoft hits" category.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes a lot from its predecessors, to build on what is a familiar, yet fresh approach to the AC series. There are however a few changes to the traditional game that create a more immersive, organic gameplay experience than previous entries.

The world is lush and feels alive on the PS5 with a decent level of asset diversity with changes in NPC Accents, foliage type/density, climate and topography. But you will notice a pattern of scripted dialogue, or reactions that are unchanged through every place you visit over time.

Combat feels great most of the time, but can get frustrating. Whilst it does add extra ‘weight’ to combat, I had difficulty getting used to the slower speed of attacking, parrying and blocking, often pressing a button, only to have my character respond late and miss combos.

Your conquest of England is split into topple or instate a new leader objectives. This does come with more variety than “Go there, kill the thing, come back” approach from previous games, though that can still happen at times. Some conquests have investigative elements, giving you the opportunity to side with one individual over another to gain the leader’s loyalty. Investigate poorly or accuse incorrectly and you may be in dire straits. Don’t worry, regular autosaves allow you to undo these mistakes, if you’d rather correct them. The push and pull between the Eivor and their brother and his loyalists is an interesting dynamic to navigate. You’ll feel bound to the plot, desperately needing to know what happens next.

There is SO much to do in Valhalla, even after completing the game. Tandem side missions running in parallel to the Main Quest are excellent and some even transport you to new worlds (I’ll say no more). Throughout the sizeable map you’ll find most icons replaced by dots, which are split by colour into 3 categories - Wealth, Mysteries and Artifacts. Each side pursuit will require a different approach - be it exploration, a retrieve this or protect this, a raid, out of the box thinking or flat out combat and there’s enough variety to not feel like you’re “grinding” to get to the next level, because whilst you do level up, you also receive resources to progress your settlement, allow you to upgrade weaponry or unlock another piece of a unique armour set furthering your badass-ery.

Some side missions can be failed easily, since a lot of them leave things up to the power of suggestion, without detailing objective information. Annoyingly, once you make a mistake, you are usually unable to complete said mission… In particular anything involving a crate moved from point a to point b was problematic. It would be nice to have the ability to reset World Missions to be able to complete a region when a mistake is made.

A consistent theme with this saga (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) is the developer's inability to fully commit to to the Modern-Day plot and the order of Assassins itself. Both of which are treated like a side-piece now, when they were once considered the very foundation of the game. The lack of connection from future to past within the Modern-Day plot, really removes the layer of believability it once had. Present day scenes are now wafer thin in substance and meaningless contributions that do nothing for the game, other than furthering the present day plot at an excruciatingly slow pace.

Some glitches were present within the game, I have been launched across the map randomly by a gust of glitch wind, bosses would leave the combat circle and be unable to return, enemies would frequently re-spawn after being killed and ruin a stealth mission, rag-doll physics would occasionally turn corpses into projectiles and combat finishers were performed on thin air.

I have to mention the huge disparity in the quality of Voice Acting between Male Eivor and Female Eivor. In my experience Female Eivor had the dynamic acting range of a brick, often giving generic, dry delivery for every line with a teaspoon of gravel in every line. I don’t doubt the voice actor’s ability or training in the slightest, but I do get the sense there wasn’t any consistency in the way the actors were directed.

Overall, I predominantly focused my gameplay on main missions, with the occasional side quest I came upon in exploration, I managed to sink around 90 hours into the game. The game’s ending opens up huge possibilities for the future of the franchise. This game exceeded my expectations but did still lack some magic ingredients to make it a perfect game. I can’t wait to see where AC takes us next and for Ubisoft to once again raise the bar for this franchise.

Game overall is good. However itemization of gear is a huge flaw (I never really swapped gear at any point of the game), and towards the end, the majority of side quests, main quests get repetitive (after over 60 hours of game play). Unfortunately the game has a lot of bugs which while not game-breaking become more and more annoying the more you play and at times can completely halt progression until you look up a guide to get past them. Even the new Yule (Christmas) event introduced in the latest patch which consists of hardly any content (So can't have been that tough to test) is quite buggy.

If you're a gamer looking for a solid RPG similar to Origins/Odyssey and don't mind a few bugs go right again. If you are a completionist who enjoys ticking those trophies/achievements off then be warned several of them are either impossible or incredibly frustrating to completely as a result of bugs.

The combat is very repetitive, the side missions (mysteries) are mind numbingly dull and even the story fails to entertain. Building up your settlement was a great idea but is sadly undercooked. The A.I. is extremely dumb and a downgrade from the previous title.

Wait for a sale or just buy Odyssey if you haven't already.

Another great AC game. Likely the best looking one of the series! Especially in the PS5.

Assassin's Creed is back, better than ever! Well, okay it's not best AC game (that would be AC 4), but it's still great and way better than Odyssey. I'm not able to understand why someone would say that they like Odyssey more. I guess these people don't like actual Assassin's Creed? Either way it seems like they are slowly moving back to what AC used to be and that's amazing. I have readAssassin's Creed is back, better than ever! If you know that you gonna fall and nothing happens, then where's the fun? Expand

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla restored my faith in Ubisoft. I was really worried after Ghost Recon Breakpoint. It's actually understandable that all their games can't be hits, because they have so many studios working on different games, so no wonder some of these games are great and some are not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an OK rpg about vikings it is not an assassins creed game in fact the last game as well was not about assassins creed ubisoft has rewritten their lore behind their games and I don't like it

In valhalla as havi we are to believe that they are isu(and that eivor is a sage another reincarnation) (they have many different sages now) they did this in the past with minerva and juno well that was OK but they killed off juno in the comics and we never hear so much as a word about that in the games because ubisoft doesn't want to continue that saga do they
This isn't an assassins creed game and they shouldn't keep pretending I would pay double for another game like what we got from ezio and altiar the story is terrible it was OK for the first 15 hours or so and then it went stale I was 93 hours in when I realised that this game would not get any better it was a broken mess filled with bugs plot holes and ivar being a tool there were some moments when the game shone like its older versions and I felt the story could go somewhere but they were short lived and forgotten by the ever growing ass faced characters of dag and siggurd being the literal worst and me wanting to uninstall the game and make room for cyberpunk which nomatter how broken had a brilliant story and interesting characters

The places in the game were many and similar and I found myself unable to differentiate any of the towns and villages the side quests were mostly the same and largely the same save someone or collect something or fall for an obvious trap or lie because heaven forbid eivor the reincarnation of the god of wisdom is interesting

In the end I googled the endings was disappointed by all outcomes and u installed the game Maybe its my fault for holding the previous games in such high regard but in ubisofts attempt of diversifying their creation they lost sight of the aspects we loved about the franchise each game was building towards something even after Desmond death syndicate gave us insight towards what juno was doing and what assassins in the present were up to and the memories in the past all lead up to the Poe that abstergo was still locating the assassins were an organisation not one man with a hidden blade who can either sneak or fight you could have your initiates rain arrows or cause a distraction while you would slip by and kill your target in the old games some missions required stealth at least unti a certain point and I liked that the protagonist's had a perpous and a personal reason to fight
Some people may have liked this game some people may have loved this game I almost loved this game in the early hours and I am glad I didn't because after that time frame the game became a repetitive pile of manure with the only loveable thing being a dog and a happy reminder of assassins creed 3 that lasted less than an hour

As a big fan of assassins creed, I’m really disappointed in Valhalla. To the point when I’m not even sure I want to finish it. The story is boring, the characters are boring, no ISU vaults... You had so much potential with norse mythology... I’m actually angry at myself for buying it. That’s just my opinion, of course.

Progress was one of the things that kept me with this series, Black Flag had huge world to explore in 2013, Paris looked absolutely stunning in 2014, Syndicate wasn't perfect, but London was still really nice location, Origins was even bigger game and obvious next step, while Valhalla perfected flaws of Origins and Odyssey. I really hope these leaks are not true, but if they are, i refuse to buy or support this next game. If they really go back to AC1-AC3 style then i'm done with this series and as of right now that seems to be the case. I'm almost certain that these awful leaks are true and they really do that. It' sad, but nothing lasts forever i guess. All i have to say that, thank you Ubisoft for these amazing games and this series once meant to me A LOT. Expand

This is my first AC game. I came into it mostly interested in the Valhalla part rather than the Assasins's creed one and I'm extremely disapointed. The "Viking Vibe" is simply not there. I came into it mostly interested in the Valhalla part rather than the Assasins's creed one and I'm extremely disapointed. The "Viking Vibe" is simply not there. Music is sometimes good but most of the time is just ambient, boring and lacking energy. Characters are either over the top or just badly written (except maybe for Basim and Sigurd and very few other exceptions). Dialogue is very mediocre. Combat is bad at first, then it gets better only to then get worse. Ubisoft makes an extremely violent game where you can kill your enemies in a 1000 brutal ways but everything else such as historical realities and the fact that Vike-boys were brutal slavetraders, rapists, pillagers and murderers gets sugar coated with Raven Clan being the good guys and other compromises because Ubisoft has no balls to even GRAZE the area of controversy. I mean really lol. Raven Clan is basicaly a hippie commune where people live in harmony with the nature, where people of all ethnicities, religions and cultures are welcome, almost everyone is bisexual (XD) and people get high with shrooms to enter other dimensions (XDD). It is subjective but IMO games that aren't even about vikings get the whole "vikingness" better like Witcher 3 with Skellige or even Skyrim. The open world at first looks beautiful and exciting but ends up being really empty and devoid of character. It's almost tragic how shallow it is. You go up the cathedral and gaze upon the foggy hills of England and marvel at it's vastness and beauty. Then you jump down and realise that there isn't anyhting interesting. No funny or immersive NPC dialogue to overhear, no random events taking place where you can interfere and get in trouble, almost zero historical or geographical lore about incredible places you visit. Music is also virtualy always the same for every location. For example: In Oxenforda (figure out which city it is) the only thing that ads any characteristic stuff to the place is some funny letter about how Oxenforda will never be famous for anything but it's fish (very funny). Then there are side quests. Again it's subjective but IMO side quests are bad because almost every single one of them revolves around some freak having a ridiculous problem. They are memorable and original - true but, again IMO, are another nail to the coffin of the vibe of the game as they are so over the top you can't take vast majority of them seriously. And now worst of all- sound quality. All of the in-game audio sounds like total SH*TE. As if you put a layer of cloth between your ear and the headphone which makes it so much harder to immerse yourself in the world you are in.

I'm being harsh because the game tries to be what the Witcher 3 and RDR2 was and it fails miserably with it's bad to average design decisions. I won't deny- some of the aspects of the game are good. Combat can be epic at times but it gets repetitive and audio-design diminishes it by a lot, side activities can be fun but they feel like an afterthought, story is interesting but... SEE THAT? "BUTS" EVERYWHERE. There is not a single thing besides Orlog in this game that isn't spoiled in some way by a bad design decisions and the fact that Ubisoft team lacks any talent. And I didn't even mention the bugs that ruin it further (I could seriously talk for hours abut how lacking ACV is). It's not even a bad game with a good one hidden inside like Cyberpunk it's far worse than that: it's an average game trying to be a great game while being a very bad game inside. I would've given it 6/10 but the Audio quality+infuriating bugs+MICROTRANSACTIONS IN A GOD DAMN SINGLEPLAYER GAME FOR 60€ make it a 4/10 AT MOST. I'd rather play Skyrim for a 1000th time than Assasin's Creed Valhalla for the first time.

Ubisoft has always made quality games, they are obviously no Rockstar Games, but neither are other companies and that's a fact. I remember how people whined about Ubisoft games and acted like "Cybermiracle 2077" will be flawless and amazing and we all know how this turned out. Now all CDproject fanboys are quiet. Good.

Hate the cairns, I hate most of the collectibles they introduced. Actually being stealthy seemed like an afterthought in this game. Still crashes relatively frequently for a next gen console. Basically a lot of the game play was annoying and too grindy. Feels like a second job trying to complete this game.

I can’t count how many times it pissed me off due to gameplay mechanics or doing

Online features don't work. If you want them to work you have to do the job of a Ubisoft employee to even attempt to get it to work.

As a long standing fan of the series this may have overtaken Black Flag as my favourite. It is very long with a huge, rich map but doesn't feel as bloated as the last couple in the series (especially Odyssey). All in all a great experience.

This is a good Assassin's Creed title but it has a lot of glitches. first of all the graphics are amazing the map is looking gorgeous and the story is amusing. But.. There are a lot of glitches in this game. The NPC's are pretty broken at some points in the game. But what can u expect from a game this big and long.

From Europe's best and most creative studio "Ubisoft", comes amazing Assassin's Creed game that truly shows history of Europe, specially Norway and England! Amazing game!

Feminist trolls and stupid people who think that religion is real are trying to lower this games user score, but in the end it doesn't even matter. Most actual gamers like this game and that's all that matters. Vikings

Until Resident Evil Village comes out, it's literally only 2020 game that is still worth playing. Doom Eternal got old very fast and i'm not gonna play Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake 24/7. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the biggest fails of all time. Resident Evil 3 Remake was too short and boring. Last of Us 2 is one of the worst games ever made. Watch Dogs Legion is pathetic. Final Fantasy VII Remake has no reason to play again, even tho good game. Ghost of Tsushima has one of the worst camera angles in any video game ever, so i just can't play it, but it doesn't seem very interesting anyway. Marvel's Avengers is a joke. Mafia 1 Remake had good story, but has one of the emptiest open-worlds ever, there's absolutely nothing to do or explore.

So what's left? Literally only one game - Assassin's Creed Valhalla! It's not best game ever / not best AC game, but at least it's fun enough and DLC's almost look more interesting than main game, so i'm hyped. There's obviously always option to play older games (i do that literally all the time), but this review is for people who want something new.

There are two competing experiences here: that as as Assassin, and that as a Viking, that either on its own feels like it might have been a triumph and better than this good but not great Assass-king hybrid we have.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
