The game is very long. The story is entertaining. I don`t really like the combat; sometimes I feel like a living juggernaut, not a viking. Anyway, the game is enjoyable for most part

Male Eivor is a joke of a character, a clown that act not like a Viking but...female Eivor was really insane; you will say "it's the same character only female", nope guys.
The dub and the acting change it all, if you want a strong character trust me, choose female Eivor.
The other characters are...nothing of memorable honestly.
The dream parts are so bad done...it was a way to compete with Santa Monica's GOW but so much worse.
Overall a good game but not worth so much money, if you want to purchase it maybe with discounts

Combat is the one thing that i hate the most, it takes about 30 hits to kill one enemy, all you do is spam R1 and click square once every 10 hits, it's very unsatisfying and becomes boring after a few raids. The Raids... Raids are a train wreck, you run around spamming R1 next to every enemy around, there's not much threat really, well besides the broken fire effect. All around the enemy villages there are these stupid vases containing, i have no idea, some kind of explosive that can be triggered by hitting it with an axe. Once it explodes it takes half of your HP, and then puts a fire effect on you, the fire effect is just straight up terrible, it kills you in about 2 seconds and there is nothing you can do about it, you have to use your rations to survive it. The problem is, that the whole enemy village is burning, so once you use up your rations, you'll probably die by the next stupid explosive vase, or by burning to death trying to climb a building, you know, like Assassin's should. But of course, these aren't Assassin's Creed games anymore, Ubi just uses the name to get more more sales, the games itself have absolutely no connection to the story of Assassin's, besides Eivor having a 'hidden' blade of course, which i have no idea why would Assassin's give the blade to some random viking.
That's about it, i'm incredibly disappointed, considering Assassin's Creed was once one of my favorite game series.

Equally, you can disappear under the ground or stick your head through a rock. It's very obvious that more people actually like Valhalla way more than Odyssey. It's their best selling PC game of all time! i just feel Ubisoft fans are hiding in the shadows. They are too mature to argue on internet. They don't care about pointless drama. They just want to enjoy games. But i feel like sometimes Ubisoft fans should fight back stronger. Yeah it's cool you praise these things on reddit, but there's way more important sites and metacritic is one of them.

No youtuber never mentions some random reddit "praise post" but they always show metacriti'c user score and these videos get 100 000's on views. This is manipulation 101. I know it's pathetic, because metacritic user score is most meaningless thing on this planet, but fact is, that these people are using it. It's just bunch of losers, usually some tasteless crackwatch-reddit users who hate on Ubisoft in general. They don't even play their games, they don't even care about their games. They are just pathetic, whiny losers and nothing else.

When Far Cry 6 comes out in few month, i guarantee, bunch of Ubisoft haters (who will never buy Far Cry 6 btw) start giving it 0/10 scores and i feel like this time Ubisoft fans really, really need to fight back. It has gone too far. Cdproject red released most talentless game in 20 years and these people still try to praise it, while hating on Ubisoft's perfectly decent games that actually work. Like i said, these scores don't matter at all, they never did, never will, but i feel like Ubisoft fans (and there are millions) should for once actually try to fight back, even if it's just to annoy these haters. Even that would be worth it.

It has nothing to do with company. Ubisoft has made lots of games i don't care about at all (Breakpoint, Division 2, For Honor, Crew 2) and if Valhalla would be one of these bad games i would ignore it as well, but that's not the case. Valhalla simply isn't bad game. It's just not and nothing, absolutely nothing will change that fact.

The combat system is a mixed bag for me, the story is pretty bad, and the pacing is very bad. The open world isn't as bad as odyssey and origins but it's not good either. Homosexuality?

This game has been amazing the detail, story line and graphics. It lacks in NPC behavior but one aspect that bothers me considerably is the amount of in game moments where they insert homosexuality. Once maybe twice okay but countless times they put you in situations where homosexuality would be a norm obviously they're not going for any kind of historical accuracy. They insert homosexuality situations where they would not fit or absolutely makes no sense here is a brief description on Vikings view and beliefs in regards to homosexuality

Homosexuality was not regarded by the Viking peoples as being evil, perverted, innately against the laws of nature or any of the other baggage about the concept that Christian belief has provided Western culture. Rather, it was felt that a man who subjected himself to another in sexual affairs would do the same in other areas, being a follower rather than a leader, and allowing others to do his thinking or fighting for him. Thus, homosexual sex was not what was condemned, but rather the failure to stand for one's self and make one's own decisions, to fight one's own fights, which went directly against the Nordic ethic of self-reliance. (Sørenson 20). Being used homosexually by another man was equated with cowardice because of the custom of sexual aggression against vanquished foes. This practice is documented in Sturlunga saga, most notably in Guðmundar saga dýra where Guðmundr takes captive a man and his wife, and plans for both the woman and the man to be raped as a means of sexual humiliation (Ok var þat við orð at leggja Þórunni í rekkju hjá einhverjum gárungi, en gera þat vi Björn prest, at þat þaelig;tti eigi minni svívirðing.) (Sørenson 82, 111; Sturlunga saga, I, 201). In addition to rape, defeated enemies were frequently castrated, again testified to in several places by Sturlunga saga. Grágás records that a klámhogg or "shame-stroke" on the buttocks was, along with castration, a "major wound" (hin meiri sár), ranked with wounds that penetrated the brain, abdomen, or marrow: the klámhogg was thus equated with castration as "unmanning" the victim, and classed with wounds that cause major penetrations of the body, strongly suggesting that the term refers to rape or forced anal sex such as was inflicted on a defeated combatant (Sørenson 68). It is not known how widespread the practice of raping defeated foes actually was, or if it existed before the advent of Christianity, but in other cultures which have had as strong an ethic of masculine aggression as existed among the Vikings, the rape of defeated foemen was obligatory. The attitude that homosexual usage of an enemy was a means of humiliation in turn would have weighed heavily against men in homosexual relationships: if it was a shameful humiliation of an enemy, performing intercourse with a beloved friend would have been regarded as a the worst sort of betrayal or lack of loyalty (Sørenson 28). Since all the references in literature and especially insults indicate that to be sansorðinn, ragr, níðingr or to be accused of ergi is to be a man who is the passive recipient of anal sex, we do not know if the Vikings regarded oral sex between men unfavorably or not (or, in fact, how they regarded oral sex in general, no matter who, male or female, was doing it, or to whom, male or female, it was being done). It is interesting to note that the Vikings considered that old age caused a man to become argr. A well-known proverb stated svá ergisk hverr sem eldisk, "everyone gets argr as he gets older." This possibly could point to an increasing acceptance of homosexuality after a man had raised a family and grew older (Sørenson 20), although a man such as the chieftain Snorri goði who fathered 22 children, the last at the age of 77 (just before he died), certainly proves that a man never was really too old to father children! (Jochens 81). For a man who could not have children (whether due to impotence, sterility, age, etc.) homosexual relations may have been acceptable. One slang term for such a man seems to have been kottrinn inn blauði, or "soft cat" as reported in Stúfs þaacute;ttr, an epilogue to Laxdæla saga, in a conversation between the Norwegian king Haraldr harðráði and Stúfr, the son of Þórðr kottr (Þórðr the Cat): puzzled by the unusual nickname, Haraldr asks Stúfr whether his father Þórðr was kottrinn inn hvati eða inn blauði, "the hard or the soft cat." Stúfr declines to answer despite the implied insult, but the king admits that his question was foolish because "the person who is soft (blauðr) could not be a father" (Jochens 76).

AC Valhalla being the latest installment of the AC franchise sees great graphical and performance upgrades in the next-gen variation of the games and is very impressive. The combat is fun and engaging and the inclusion of the feature to allow instant assassinations allow you to focus easier on stealth. The map is also vast with tons of areas with beautiful scenery to explore.

The story, however, is incredibly long and stretched way further than it needs to be. Several arcs feel incredibly repititive in story structure and poor pacing affects different storylines in the game. The actual characters are not super interesting despite some solid voice acting. The best being Eivor who still feels a bit bland but still badass. but the side characters fall flat more often than are actually interesting. The game also feels very shallow the further you get into it with side quests that get less and less interesting over the course of the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Played every assassin's Creed game love the original assassin's creeds. Also I like the RPG ones assassin's Creed Valhalla was good. I just wish they were focused on more about the assassins instead of Vikings. And I wish they kind of calmed down on the fantasy a little bit. But overall the combat I love hope they keep the brutal combat. And future assassin's Creed games also keep the stealth. An want the developers to never forget what made assassin's Creed games unique. I like the Valhalla. But it seem like it struggled what it wanted to be I hope you read this Ubisoft. I like the RPG ones and the OG assassin greed games. I just hope you stick to what it means to be an assassin. And keep the assassin's Creed games unique. I don't really like the fantasy stuff that much it kind of ruins it I like you Ubisoft to make an RPG assassin's Creed game that focus on assassin's and Templars. Please stick to what make assassin's Creed special I played all of them I like the originals and the RPGs ones just don't mess this franchise up. Expand

There are two competing experiences here: that as as Assassin, and that as a Viking, that either on its own feels like it might have been a triumph and better than this good but not great Assass-king hybrid we have.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
