My first Assassin's Creed game! And boy howdy have I enjoyed it. Typically hate microtransactions but the fact that they offer the money currency and shop in game is a happy medium. I could justify spending the extra on the season pass because of that.

My one complaint is every once in a while I experience a game breaking bug and I have to replay a section over again. Over a year into the game I feel like this maybe shouldn't be happening? I've played older and newer games that don't have this issue.

I'm also not a huge fan of an over crowded map but this is more of a personal preference than something inherently wrong with the game.

Its not really assassin game, however its much better than origin and odyssey. Also new mechanics, great world, story and armor sets.

It's really good, idk what else to say, other than some fps issues (hopefully will be patched), i don't have much to complain about. Combat is solid, two open worlds Norway and England both are incredible. So many secret areas, story is fun so far. Very good.

My god this game looks beautiful, story missions are pretty fun so far, but main standout here is open world (2 of them) that Ubisoft has created. This game might be their best map (or should i say maps) they have ever made in any of their games. Really cool world full of mystery and wonder.

At approximately 30 hours into this game, I can say it's the best out of the more recent series of Assassin's Creed open world games. Nearly every location or dot on the map is meaningful, giving important ingots to upgrade your gear, new sets of armor (which is quite rare - you'll need to commit to one set of armor early on), supplies for your settlement (nearly every building has an purpose that adds either side quests or neat little minigames to the game), short "mystery" side quests that are surprisingly engaging and interesting or ancient Roman artifacts or parkour mini games that reward you with tattoo and longboat schematics. Combat is engaging, taking elements from Origins with use of a shield and standard hack-and-slash and the light & hunter bows (along with predator bow - your sniper rifle, basically), and utilizes the use of weak spots you can hit with your arrow to stagger your enemy so you can run in for a stun. The skill tree implements some useful, more standard non-flashy abilities to use in combat (stomping on an enemy, chain assassinations, picking up weapons on the battlefield and throwing them at will) alongside abilities hidden throughout the map that use adrenaline. Admittedly, I've found a lot of these abilities to not be overly useful or just a bit too strange to work into combat meaningfully. So far, the most useful has been poisoning my weapons or the standard jump and hit from above move.

The main quest (essentially, conquering England) is interesting, and Eivor provides for a calm and assertive character to play with. Personally, I preferred Kassandra, but Eivor proves to be likable regardless. The world map is beautiful - especially the starting zone in Norway. I encourage exploring a little bit before leaving for England because you won't get such gorgeous snow-capped mountain views for what I assume is a while.

For downsides, I'll list this: the leveling zones aren't really the best system for this game. It's easy to accidentally cross a river into a way high level zone where you will get instantly KO'd, far easier than in Odyssey or Origins, where I barely noticed the fact zones were leveled. Additionally, some enemies even in zones you're the appropriate level for will, for some absurd reason, be nearly 100 levels or more above you. This is mostly for the oddball mystery side quest, but I still find this annoying, especially when I want to clear out all of the objectives in one go. Some puzzles can be quite difficult - some, even when I googled the answer I still couldn't figure out and had to bail (and I'm not sure if those were bugs or just me being dumb). On the note of bugs, there are certainly some, but none can't be fixed without a quick game reboot. There was one quest in Oxen-something-shire that wouldn't seem to end (a side lower-the-strength-of-the-nation kind of quest), but I figure I'll just ignore that.

At a point of the game, you get reach Asgard. Here, you don't quite play as Eivor - instead someone wearing their face and acting as a god there alongside Thor, Tyr, and other recognizable names. Here, the wealth objectives seem quite pointless - another mark against the game - apparently only granting 5 skill points after collecting 30 of these "Ymir" shards, each requiring a puzzle to find and solve. I'd recommend just doing the mysteries in this zone, as they are still fairly engaging.

Overall, Valhalla succeeds in doing what Origins and Odyssey failed: cutting out the repetitive fluff quests and working in countless minigames, notes to read scattered in locations across the map, little pieces of wealth and side quests to discover that are all unique in their own way. In this way, the AC franchise truly begins to bloom as an open world game. The game even continues Odyssey's idea of legendary beast hunting, which was definitely a fun part for me in Odyssey; and overall, the combat is improved, requiring you to think on your feet. I played on Hard mode, which I can say is difficult enough for me; I beat Odyssey in Nightmare difficulty, and this provides a much more engaging, less spam 500 arrows playstyle.

Should you buy it for the full price tag? If you love open world games and the AC franchise, I say yes. If you don't and just want a casual play, I would wait until it at least comes down to half-price. And, it's common sense, but wait for the DLC to be released in full before paying $100 for the ultimate edition (I can confirm that the wolf mount is awesome, though).

I ended up taking quite a bit of fall damage until I had figured out what worked for me and what did not. I played through at my own pace, in about a year, starting on Stadia and finishing on PS5. The breath of side quests kept me engaged, and I paced the storyline because I didn't want to hurry too much. In terms of value/money, this game heads my personal charts. I particularly loved the ending - the integration of the future storyline with the past is much more meaningful and mysterious than in prior games, and the ending hits hard both philosophically and on an emotional level, while simultaneously raising a few hair-raising questions about the entire Isu universe and the future of the franchise. Well done. Insanely well done. Expand

By the way, just for you knowledge, it's mostly youtube comments section hate, in reality this game has millions of fans all over the world and sold more than Ubisoft ever imagined. To see that, go under any new AC Valhalla video comment section and you see bunch of people whining and complaining how "bad Valhalla is", it's usually 200-300 comments, so in other words, meaningless number, while video itself has thousands of views and thousand of likes. So it's very clear that most people actually like this game. Expand

Boring is the first word that comes to mind, there’s no reason a game should be this long and be this boring! Repetitive as hell, and the characters other than the ACTUAL assassins are forgettable. Overall wouldn’t recommend unless you enjoy doing the same thing over and over again with a boring story thats only good at the end.

I had a great time playing this game, but there are far to many missions in the main story that could be cut out in order to make the game a good overall experience. The combat system was very fun, but I found myself fatigued by the large amount of mainline missions that added very little to the game.

The most boring AC game i have ever played (played every one last of them). Eivor has 0 charm, Basiim is interesting but only appears in literally 5 missions. Combat system is worst than Odyssey, the animations are trash and the "parkour" is like C-3P0 climbing a wall. Worst AC high diff

People who give this 0 or 1 score can go to hell, this game is good. I'm not saying it's perfect, because it has some bugs like any other open world game would have at launch, but overall it's huge beautiful game world to have fun with, great story, nice voice acting. Strong recommendation.

I like the settings of Norway and England, the raidings, social stealth is back, combat system with dual wielding weapons is fun and so is treasure hunting.
I also like the fantasy-like atmosphere with dark forests, fogs, ruins, curses... I needed a game that I just have fun. I do not need anything spectacular or original or ground-breaking. Just pure fun. I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima and

This game fantastic, they have decluttered the endless boring sidequests from oddssey, they are now short and often amusing and entertaining things to do, Exploring is rewarding, lots of puzzles and fresh ideas to discover. Graphics are stunning, lots of variety between areas, Snow looks gorgeous.

Combat is awesome, Dual wield being the killler new feature, Lots of different combos and ways to play. The viking ship is pretty neat but generally i go everywhere by horse so it feels a bit uselss unless you are going raiding.

Music is fantastic, sets the mood for each zone nicelely, I found myself turning it up and the combat down a bit to enjoy it, usually i wouldn't bother.

Voice acting grows on you, i've only played as male at first i wasn't impressed but now i can't imagine it being anything else.

Story is great, while the areas you go to are sort of linear due to gear level requirements it still feels like you have lots of choice, I'm absolutely blown away at how much content there really is, With a side story in Asgard the size of DLC, seriously, for the price, this game is insanely dense.

Bought this as a filler game and might end up being my GOTY, (if CP2077 gets delayed) haha.

I was surprised this hasn’t got an average in the 90s, but it sounds like it’s been unfairly judged by the number of previous games in the series and the constant need to see improvement. PROs:
    - Astonishing graphics, but it mainly limits to the landscape. Some characters are interesting to look at, but the majority of side characters have the same dull model.

    CONs:
    - The game tries to copy the Witcher III type of sandbox, leaving you to decide what to do next or where to go, but it fails in doing that because it's not fluid or engaging.
    - Is this really an Assassin's Creed game? or is it just a brute's story of raiding villages with his crew?
    - The gameplay is clunky and buggy, and utterly annoying. The camera work is horrible; the targeting (R3) has an awful cursor almost invisible in the mid of the battle, etc...
    - The story starts a bit strong and interesting, but after 10min or so, it simply tumbled into eternal boredom. I'm not kidding when I say that I almost fell asleep playing this game.

The game environment is very beautiful and reminds me of Witcher 3. It has a very good artistic design.
The gameplay is a lot better than the Odyssey. It offers many and various facilities and capabilities to the players.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
