Assassin's Creed Valhalla has two big maps for exploring, sailing with your boat on rivers, nice story, good voice acting and decent combat. To me it's one of the best of 2020.

This game is beautiful and fun. Story is good. I enjoy the customization and being able to switch genders fluidly. Loading times are quick on the PS5. I will say that the game feels like a cross-Gen title.

This is good, i mean it. But Far Cry 6 needs to be something completely new, they can't make another Far Cry 5, NO, because we already have that game. Valhalla is first good step into the future of Ubisoft, it's really well done game, but now things need to go even further. Really DEEPLY focus on writing, Valhalla is good, go even more deep! Invest more into your products, you have good directors, give them all the freedom the need! I know you can make good stuff, you have done it past, you can do it again, i really believe it.
I believe in you Ubisoft, because i have really liked some of your games (AC 4 Black Flag, AC Unity (after patches obviously), Far Cry 3 and even some Ghost Recon Games, even Watch Dogs 1 was good, even tho it wasn't perfect. I would hate to see you go down like this. What you did in 2019 is unforgivable, but every company messes up at times, In fact all your games have better writing than Fallout 4 or Fallout 76, not that it's good comparison, but just saying. But you need to take Rockstar as your inspiration and i feel, in a way you already do. That's good! Just focus on quality, fix more bugs before release and just do good games. That's all it takes. I'm so far loving Valhalla and i have high hopes for Far Cry 6 and future of Ubisoft, Please don't let me and all your fans down!

Assassin's Creed is not something you can quickly finish and move on to next "cool game". This game series focuses on exploration, stealth and really just enjoying the environments.
Of course it also has brutal combat and all that cool stuff, but what i'm trying to say is that it's not your average 5-10 hour game. If you don't wanna actually enjoy it and take your time, there's no point

AC Odyssey was weak, everyone knows it, but Valhalla was solid step back to what made AC games good. People seem to forget that Black Flag had huge open world to explore, so many locations. Only games from now on that deserve to be inspiration for future assassin's creed's are following: AC 4 Black Flag, Unity, some parts of Origins and Valhalla. That's it. There's absolutely no question that i'm bigger AC fan that he could ever dream to be. Calling Valhalla garbage is biggest joke in years. Valhalla is easily better than both Origins and specially Odyssey. Valhalla is first AC game in long time where it has been really interesting to finally explore the open world. You mentioned how interesting pyramids were in Origins, well of course. But here the thing, they were one of the few interesting things about Origins. Most of it was boring empty desert. I don't hate Origins, but it wasn't as interesting as Valhalla. Valhalla has way better story, better character and better open world. You said that England doesn't have landmarks or places to explore. Kidding me? London? Stonehenge? Huge castles? Mountains in Norway? There's so much to explore. Valhalla is easily one of the better designed maps Ubisoft has ever done, just behind Black Flag. There you go. You said that you laugh at people who think Origins is meh, well i laugh at you saying that Valhalla is garbage. There's clearly, very clearly more people who like Valhalla than Origins. Valhalla was biggest PC launch for Ubisoft EVER. It had over 2 million players in launch month alone. Jor Raptor gets 100 000s views on almost every Valhalla video he makes. People very clearly like this game and many have said that they absolutely love Valhalla map designs. Showing your "poll" as some evidence is BS, because most people answered that they haven't even played this game, but you said that people agree with you. Hell no. Thankfully you don't get that many views, so i don't really care that much, but this one video made me write this, because it was just too much nonsense. If you can have your BS opinion, then i have every right to have my opinion about your video and point out false things. I have been Assassin's Creed supporter and fan over 10 years and i very likely like games that you don't even like, because you seem like somebody who hops on hype trains. You know very well that people who whine about new games are just nostalgia nerds who hate every game after AC 3. I have always liked Unity and even Syndicate and i strongly doubt you like them. If you do, fair, but my point about Valhalla's map stands. Expand

I liked the side content like building the village or the board game orlog. The story I thought was great and had a nice ending: The Eivor and Sigurd saga, traveling to Asgard and Jotunheim was fun, some of the province arcs were great and unique from the others (for the most part). Its biggest downfall is by far is its length, it took me 70 hrs to finish this game. Most people that play an rpg game for that long are simply there to 100% the game, not still trying to finish the main story line. I enjoyed the game at the start and for the first 40 hrs or so, but there seemed to simply be no end in sight at that point and everything started feeling tiring and monotonous. Besides that main problem, this game was teetering on the border of being too glitchy for my liking. Some very annoying bugs appeared here and there, sometimes had to completely reload. For the most part it worked alright, but was a bit of a nuisance at critical moments. The real world story still makes no sense to me (ever since Desmond died in AC III) and feels completely needless on top of the historical saga. The combat I found to be alright, nothing too different than Odyssey or Origins, not the biggest fan of this dark souls combat system either, was too finicky and annoying at times like would often catch on fire or miss the timing of the parries. Overall, this game was a mixed bag for me, it had good elements but was just too freeken long. Expand

The main story is a boring mess with forgettable characters and repetitive sequences, all you do is go to a different part of the map and recruit allies by doing the same thing over and over. The side content is non-existent, literally all you do in this pathetic excuse of a video game is ride your horse for miles upon miles to press a triangle to pick up a wealth or do some stupid and uninspiring world event like talking to someone for 10 seconds and then leaving, most of these activities are also broken or glitched. The worst thing is that you need to grind these events to level up before you can go to a higher level area unless you want to get one-shot by the enemies. Talking about glitches, this game has a plethora of bugs and issues that really affected my experience, from minor visual issues to more severe and game breaking bugs. I admit some of them were very funny to experience like flying enemies or me randomly leaving the earth’s orbit but mostly they were annoying as hell. I played as a male Eivor but for some unknown to me reason everyone referred to me as a she and wanted to bang me, not sure if that’s a glitch or the developers couldn’t be bothered to record a few more lines depending on your gender. The world is pretty empty though gorgeous at times. Enemy AI is pretty much broken and I might even say non-existent, too many times I was fighting with a group of enemies and most of them just stand around doing nothing especially archers that seem to glitch all the time. Raiding is boring as hell as all you do is just find a bunch of chests and press the damn triangle to open them, that’s it, that’s the raid done. I liked the Vikings and all the stuff about Norse mythology and the modern day story-line but everything in this game is either bad or mediocre at best. I honestly don’t know why people are praising this empty buggy game. I’m not looking forward to future Ubisoft games if they will release them in this state. I’d give it a 4/10 but seeing how many fanboys are giving this game a 10/10, I’m giving it a fat 0. I understand that you might enjoy this game but it’s objectively boring and repetitive, and definitely not deserving a 10/10 but I guess the vikings made everyone wet their pants. Pathetic Expand

Thanks to that exploring in Odyssey was awful, because high level enemies killed you everywhere unless you were high level yourself. That doesn't happen in Valhalla, in Valhalla you can assasinate anyone with one hit and thanks to that explore the whole world without worry of getting killed. Also, i like that Valhalla has better music and more serious tone than Odyssey, Odyssey was too light-hearted and not in a Syndicate way (Syndicate was perfect mix of serious and lighthearted), but Odyssey does it in cringe way. Most dialogue in Odyssey is just bad writing. Valhalla is more serious, more focused and Norway-England is in general more interesting setting than Greece could ever be anyway. Expand

As longtime AC fan, just came here to show my support, really digging this game so far. I usually don't use sites like metacritic, but seems like some haters are trying to lower this user score, so here's my 10/10.

Amazing game, after last update there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to hate this game, because Ubisoft has done so much. They added new difficulty option, so you can play exactly like old games and assassinate even highest level enemies with one hit. Anyone who still hates on this game from now on, is just whiny loser who wants attention.

This game has incredible atmosphere and music. I literally spent over 30 minutes just climbing the walls of London and enjoying the sunset. There are many incredible looking locations in this game. If you go into walking mode, some of the best music pieces of AC series history, start playing.

I have seen that some are trying to point out, that this game is empty, that's not true at all.

I have seen that some are trying to point out, that this game is empty, that's not true at all. It has just enough things to explore, but some of the empty areas are very much intentional. Red Dead Redemption 2 was exactly the same way. There are areas that have interesting stuff and then there are areas of just nature, beaches, forests etc. After all it's trying to be realistic presentation of 800s Norway and England. It would be awful, if behind every corner was some monster to fight with or gang of soldiers. That's one of the reasons why Odyssey failed, it had too much unnecessary content and thankfully Valhalla fixes that mistake.

Story in this game isn't sadly strongest, but it's not bad either. Just somewhere in between. Some missions are very fun, some are very basic and even boring. For example i was way more interested in Black Flag's story. But to look at this game as a complete package, it's still very nice and overall game design/open world design is way better than last two entries.

I have no idea where AC is going next or what's happening with this series, but if Valhalla happens to be last decent AC, then at least this series ended on positive note.

It is a huge improvement from the past AC game.

I have to update my review, the game overstayed its welcome, beware that it is a never ending game. I actually quit out of boredom (after 80 hours of gameplay and realizing that I wasn´t even close to getting to the end of the story), games need to have a conclusion and this one seems to not understand that. It is like a 1000 page book, that you enjoy for the first 500, slug through the next 300 because you actually want to read the conclusion, but you finally quit because it becomes tedious and repetitive, and you want to eventually read other books in your collection...

    Game completed with platinum trophy.
One of the better AC games. The story is interesting, not very suspenseful.
The best thing about the game is without a doubt the setting. The world graphics are stunning. Gameplay does not offend, does not impress. There is a plethora of items on offer. Whether weapons, armor, shields and so on. Honestly, you'll probably finish the game anyway,

I would have appreciated a more varied variety of enemies. Because after a few hours of play, the combat system gets very repetitive and boring.

"Boring" is a word that describes this game perfectly, if you're a madman and you're trying to complete the game 100% like me. While the game does offer side activities at every turn, the side quests try to carry on the "Witcher" theme, but they don't really succeed.

By the way, the guy who created the fishing achievement, where you have to catch at least one fish of each kind, surely has a place reserved in helheim.

In conclusion, I rate it 8/10.

It reminds me battle between Assassin's and Templars honestly. Idk maybe these haters are Templars after all, that would explain their bitterness lol. I'm not saying all Templars are automatically bad, i very much liked Elise from AC Unity, but these who give 0/10 are 100% bad ones. Am i taking it too seriously? I don't think so, to me games are art and i never gives 0/10 to games i don't like, i just ignore them, it's that simple. But when some literal haters start to hate art that i like (AC Valhalla for example) then of course it pisses me off, specially when you click on their profile and they have like last of us 2 with score 10/10. That's most easiest sign that they are just envy of AC Valhalla massive success. Expand

There are two competing experiences here: that as as Assassin, and that as a Viking, that either on its own feels like it might have been a triumph and better than this good but not great Assass-king hybrid we have.

Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla effortlessly plants its banner as the best open world RPG available for the new consoles. This Viking epic flexes its gore-soaked, tattooed muscles when it comes to world-building, and medieval England wows with its enchanting untamed vistas. It’s also portioned out at a steady pace and, if not for the repetitive, limited combat, Valhalla could have ranked even higher among our favourite games in the series.

Is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the best entry in the series yet? Some would be tempted to say so. While the map size might overwhelm some players, it remains an easy game to mainline with the right navigation mode turned on. In fact, the quick load times help to make this an even easier task than in previous generations. This is an iteration of Assassin’s Creed that has a bit of everything from the previous games, as refined as we have seen to date.
